We're back for a new day of Hutton Cup games, as the series shift to the lower seeds' home venues. First up...
McDonald's Pitch at Pirates Park, Atlantic: The Pirates go without Isabella for rest in this one, while the Pilots sit A. Charlton for rest as well. Valencia gave Golden some life with 621 on the opening turn this time, a direct challenge to the hosts right at the start. Delila had a good pace going before her rhythm got interrupted, causing her to fall at 147 for Atlantic. Dusty answered with 623 for the Pilots, essentially doubling their offense on the second attack. Steven produced a better turn with 501 for the Pirates, but they've got some work to do as their hot stretch seems to have stopped. Strut kept Golden on a consistent offense, tallying 617 this time to add more pressure against the hosts. Klaus slashed 710 for Atlantic, but the deficit remains quite large heading into the final players' turns. Sparkles grabbed 525 for the Pilots on a mandatory replay after playing through a technical error, icing their win at 2386. Max fell at a poor 155 for the Pirates, sticking them with a loss at 1513. Golden has gotten on the board, but Atlantic still leads the series 2-1.
Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: The Sharpshooters rest Pauline after two rough performances this series, while Sweetheart gets a game off for the leading and visiting Swifts. Patches knocked 543 for Boston on the opening turn, another good effort from their captain. Chris nearly gave Capital City the lead, but a botched swing caused him to fall just short at 510. Puff II kept the Swifts steady with another 539, challenging the hosts to match their performance. Missy misplayed a deflected ball, popping it straight up to fall at 145 for the Sharpshooters. Gradley pulled Boston farther ahead with 791 on his turn, making a comeback much tougher for the hosts. Sprinkles looked good with 564 for Capital City in her return to action, but they are still distinctly behind. Ice Cream tacked on 410 at the end for the Swifts, capping their offense at 2283. Lorde tried to keep calm for the Sharpshooters, and she did well but not enough with 389, leaving the Sharpshooters at a loss with 1608. Boston moves onto the brink of advancing again with a 3-0 series lead.
Kraft Crowns Park, Royal: The Crowns sit Jeremias after his offensive collapse in game 2, while the Hummingbirds have Leandra scheduled to sit out their first road game in the series. Princess went to her backhand early for Tysini, but missed her next swing, falling at 32 points in an ugly start. Kayla returned to action with a hefty 590 for Royal, staking out a sizable lead for the hosts immediately. Charli pushed 253 for the Hummingbirds, falling out of swinging form by the end of her turn. Jake fell at 32 for the Crowns, a second bad game in a row for the veteran. Brownie made a push with 436 for Tysini, covering the deficit on at least a temporary basis. Nightfur went off with 865 for Royal, erasing any vulnerability her team might have as she puts them far ahead again. Paps gained 401 for the Hummingbirds, unable to meet the deficit as they lose with 1122. Cassie rode out a tough backhand early in her turn, then finished at 769 to ice the Crowns' win at 2256. Royal is up 2-1 in the series now.
Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: The Torpedoes are sitting Solaris again with the series tied heading into game 3, while the Blades go with their top-choice lineup as Jason N. takes the bench. Snowball showed some skill with 571 for Swordpoint to lead things off positively for the visitors. Smudge kept things close, returning to the lineup with 561 for Infinity on their first turn. Dreamy had only 112 for the Blades on the second attack, displaying weakness at this point. Fluffina went with 607 for the Torpedoes on her turn, giving the hosts a nice lead at the midway mark. Bandit posted 401 for Swordpoint this time, not enough to cover the deficit. Shelley slipped at 80 for Infinity, weakening their lead as the final players come to bat. Stealth fell with 79 for the Blades, getting caught on his backhand as the visitors take a loss on 1163. Mr. Snowman scored 421 for the Torpedoes at the end, icing their win at 1669. Infinity is up 2-1 in the series now.
That's all for today's games. We'll have game 4s tomorrow morning in all likelihood.
