We're back, with Elite playing Thursday/Friday this week. First up...
Sony Stadium, Queens: The Flames welcome the Knights to open up week 13. Briana is out for the hosts while Melissa sits for the visitors, both resting after appearing on Tournament Day 8. Kiwi looked shaky with only 160 for Terrace City on the opening turn. Crystal fired off 497 for Queens on their first turn, putting the hosts noticeably ahead. Jennifer slipped at 205 for the Knights, as they're struggling to find their swings on the road. Violetta also struggled with 128 for the Flames, an unusually weak turn from the dynamic third-year player. Oreo lined 553 for Terrace City, righting the ship after an ugly start to the game. Mario knocked 725 for Queens in response, keeping the hosts ahead late in the game. Quincy had an honest effort for the Knights, but he was downed at 230 and they lost with 1148. Hannah missed a defensive play, ending at 329 as the Flames won with 1679 overall. Queens jumps to 16-10, pushing Terrace City back to 15-13.
Kraft Crowns Park, Royal: Nightfur will be on the bench for the Crowns, while the visiting Volcanoes rest Cowzart to begin a road doubleheader. Starlight slugged 1166 for Pacific to lead off the scoring in fine form. Kayla had a decent 379 for Royal, but it pales in comparison to the start the visitors produced that sees the hosts trailing. Ms. Kitty erased most of the damage with 366 for the Volcanoes, who don't need to press too much going forward. Jake fell with a measly 100 for the Crowns, showing a lack of motivation to attempt a comeback. Twinkie I tacked on 429 for Pacific in a solid appearance for her turn. Brownie pushed back with 466 for Royal, trying to make their score a bit more respectable. Leonette posted 343 for the Volcanoes at the end, capping their attack at 2304. Cassie slapped 484 for the Crowns, putting their losing total at 1429. Pacific took care of business quickly to get to 16-9, while Royal drops to 7-20 with the defeat.
Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The Knights designate Quincy for bench duty this time, while the Volcanoes give Ms. Kitty a rare rest as they finish their road doubleheader. Starlight cooled off a bit with 454 for Pacific this time, still a solid performance from the captain. Kiwi ripped 839 with great pace to give Terrace City the initial lead. Twinkie I had 300 for the Volcanoes, unable to cover the deficit on the second attack. Jennifer covered it with 361 for the Knights, keeping them ahead at the halfway point. Leonette kept going with 460 for Pacific, continuing to pressure the hosts. Oreo faded a bit with 245 for Terrace City, weakening their lead heading into the final turn. Cowzart got beat on a high offering at 451 for the Volcanoes, forcing the hosts to reply to their final score of 1665. Melissa did just enough with 267 to give the Knights a win at 1712. Terrace City improves to 16-13, while Pacific falls back to 16-10.
GE Stadium, Southridge: Wario sits after making three pool appearances for the Defenders, while the Surfers elect to bench Bright for this game. Watermelon spiked 909 for Pearl to get things going, giving the visitors a huge lead over the last-place side. Bianca answered with 726 for Southridge, doing well to keep them within striking distance early on. Boots went with full pace, quickly scrabbling 360 for the Surfers. Debby didn't do quite as much with 321 for the Defenders, but they're not out of it yet. Neopolitan made things worse for Pearl with a meager 150 on her turn. Stephanie plucked 472 for Southridge, putting them ahead with a player each to go. Beth took 476 for the Surfers to give them a final score of 1895. Caitlin yielded at 411 for the Defenders, enough for them to achieve the upset at 1930 in just their second home win of the year. Southridge is up to 5-17, while Pearl dips to 16-9, releasing pressure at the top of the table.
AT&T Oceanside Stadium, Oceanside: The Waves are sitting Snuggle against the last-place Defenders, who have Stephanie out for this game as a scheduled absence. Bianca struggled with 260 for Southridge to start of the road part of their doubleheader. Celestia wasn't great, but her solid 410 for Oceanside paces the hosts to a slight early lead. Debby launched 596 for the Defenders on the second attack, making a more impactful push for the lead. Josie had the pace to make a statement, but with 376, the Waves find themselves behind at the midway mark. Wario destabilized the Southridge lead with a mere 144 on his return to the lineup. Dewey punished the mistake with 472 for Oceanside, restoring a lead for the hosts with a player each to go. Caitlin collected 383 for the Defenders against her former team, setting the visitors' score at 1383. Jason V. responded with 364 for the Waves, enough to secure their win at 1622. Oceanside rises to 19-8, while Southridge falls back to 5-18.
Kraft Crowns Park, Royal: The Crowns go without Jake this time, while the Prestige begin a split-day doubleheader on the road with Citrus out of the lineup. Acorn managed a simple 280 for Lighton at the start of the game between two teams likely to be relegated. Kayla rallied with 605 for Royal on their first turn, setting the hosts ahead quickly. Spirit crushed 1009 for the Prestige, pulling them confidently ahead. Nightfur took a swing low, tipping a ball back into the wicket to end with 33 as the Crowns fall far behind. Nicole had a modest 240 for Lighton to add to their lead. Brownie got that damage back with 295 for Royal, but they'll need more on the final turn to have a chance. Shiny smacked 611 for the Prestige, icing their attack at 2140. Cassie's 164 left the Crowns far short with a total of 1097. Lighton improved to 8-17, while Royal is now 7-21.
GE Stadium, Southridge: The Prestige finish the doubleheader on Friday with Nicole out, while the host Defenders sit Caitlin in this game. Acorn rattled off 550 for Lighton on the opening turn, pacing them to a strong lead. After some technical issues, Bianca took her turn and posted just 115 for Southridge, setting them behind from the start. Citrus blasted 1058 for the Prestige on the second attack, making it very likely for them to hold onto their lead. Debby missed a swing to end her response at 692 for the Defenders, a good turn likely to be wasted. Spirit chipped in 470 for Lighton, giving their lead another boost. Stephanie faltered at 164 for Southridge, which should be enough to consider the hosts out of contention in this game. Shiny had a quick exit at 128 for the Prestige, leaving their final score at 2206. Wario pushed with 740 for the Defenders, but it wasn't enough as they took the loss at 1711. Lighton improved to 9-17, while Southridge drops to 5-19.
Apple Park, Todavía: Coastal rivals battle in this game, with the Stills sitting Easter while the Volcanoes give Twinkie I the game off for regular rest. Starlight did not have a good start with 195 for Pacific, putting them in a dangerous position early on. Ruby belted 1272 for Todavía in a surging attack to put the hosts ahead by a huge margin. Ms. Kitty went with 534 for the Volcanoes, trying to put a dent in the deficit. Sierra covered it with 754 on the second attack for the Stills, who clearly came to play against their rivals. Leonette wasn't able to keep up with 292 for Pacific, making a comeback unlikely for the visitors. Bells didn't ease up with 767 for Todavía, keeping their offense sharp late in the game. Cowzart's 245 marked an early exit for the Volcanoes, who lost with 1266. Prism had only 295 to ice the Stills' win at 3088. Todavía is up to 9-18 while Pacific slides to 16-11.
Nike Field, Commerce: Rosemary will be on the bench for the Tradewinds for rest, and Jake will do the same for the Crowns in this contest. Kayla whacked 548 for Royal to get the scoring going in this game. Tigerette pushed back with 614 for Commerce on their opening turn, giving them a slight lead. Nightfur did not back down with 568 for the Crowns, easily covering the deficit. Solaris had to do a false start replay, but he only managed 185 as the Tradewinds slip behind midway through the game. Brownie, knowing she's resting in the next game, emptied the tanks with a massive 909 to pad Royal's lead. Taylor S. answered with 582 for Commerce, but it's not looking likely for them to overcome this deficit. Cassie hit a mild 227 for the Crowns, finishing their attack at 2252. Niki put together an honest rally with 708, but the Tradewinds still came up short at 2089. Royal's close win gets them to 8-21, while Commerce drops to 15-10.
Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: Oreo will take a turn on the bench for the host Knights, while the Prestige give a game off to Shiny this time. Acorn pelted 740 for Lighton as the high-scoring finish to the week continues. Kiwi had the pace for something special, but a high hit ended her turn at 228 for Terrace City. Citrus plastered 819 for the Prestige on the second attack, more than doubling their offense. Jennifer answered with 418 for the Knights, who are straggling at the midway point of the game. Spirit corralled 336 for Lighton, allowing them to drop the pace a bit given their large lead. Quincy chipped some of the deficit away with his 511, but Terrace City remains noticeably behind. Nicole had just 176 as the Prestige finished cold at 2071. Melissa rallied with 725, but the Knights succumbed to defeat at 1882. Upsets continue to pour in as Lighton goes to 10-17 while Terrace City sinks to 16-14.
Sony Stadium, Queens: The Flames and Waves renew their bitter United Derby here, with Crystal sitting out for the hosts while Jason V. won't appear for the visitors. Oceanside jumps again to 21-8, while Royal sinks to 8-22.
Elite is done for the week. With any luck, Premier will fill in some time over the weekend, but it may seep into Monday as well.
