Select Cricket 2019 - Week 13

We're inching closer to the end of the second phase of the season, as Week 13 begins now. First up...


FedEx Ground, Eastside: The Sharks start a tripleheader, which begins and ends with a the Gems. The visitors have Smokey on the bench, while the hosts sit Cubby this time. Shadow produced his usual solid outing with 662 to begin the game for Diamond. Graham cut back with 592 for Eastside, keeping the hosts within striking distance. Pedey rattled off 476 for the Gems to keep them ahead by a noticeable amount. Chelsea had just 32 for the Sharks in a rare poor appearance from the long-tenured star. Katelynn added another 426 for Diamond to solidify their lead a bit more. Taylor M. made a gain with 582 for Eastside, but they've got plenty of work left to do. Leonardo stumbled with 128 for the Gems at the end, leaving their final score at 1692. Gizmo butchered his swing on a low offering, ending at a mediocre 200 to stick the Sharks with a loss at 1406. Diamond lucks out to get to 11-13, while Eastside slips to 7-16.


FedEx Ground, Eastside: The Sharks switch jerseys and rest Chelsea for the middle game of their tripleheader, taking on a visiting Union side that will play without Sydney C. this time. Ms. Puppy rapped 605 for Modernistic early on, establishing a solid lead for the visitors. Graham again kept things close with 556 for Eastside despite his inability to pull his side ahead. Daisy hit 320 for the Union on the second attack, causing their lead to weaken slightly. Taylor M. rallied with 497 for the Sharks, enough to give them the mid-game lead. Puff I continued her productive uptick with 509 for Modernistic to cover the deficit. Gizmo stepped in with 425 for Eastside, enough to put them ahead by a smaller margin late in the game. Kodiak churned out 450 for the Union, giving them a final score of 1884. Cubby came up short with 146 for the Sharks, leaving them at 1624 in another loss. Modernistic moves up to 11-12, while Eastside falls to 7-17.


The Intel Pitch, Diamond: Leonardo will be back on the bench for the Gems in the second part of the home-and-home with the Sharks, while the visitors sit Gizmo for regular rest in a busy week. Graham stayed dangerous with 625 for Eastside, a tone-setting start from the captain. Shadow went with 494 for Diamond this time, causing the hosts to fall behind initially. Chelsea didn't give as much support with 395 for the Sharks, weakening their lead slightly on the second attack. Smokey collected 615 for the Gems, making the game close at the halfway point. Taylor M. remains essential to Eastside's attack, pulling them ahead again with 584. Pedey matched it with 584 of his own for Diamond, keeping them in the lead with a player each to go. Cubby's 370 left the Sharks at 1974 overall for the game, forcing the hosts to make a response. Katelynn didn't match the effort with 311, but it was enough for the Gems to win at 2004. Diamond doubles up on Eastside, with the former rising to 12-13, while the latter drops again to 7-18.


UPS Ground, Maplewood: The Specters begin a tripleheader with a tough road test against a regional rival. The visitors sit Lexi while the host Lumberjacks go without Gabe. Sydney S. was smothered at 96 for Harrison right at the start. Whiskers smashed 955 for Maplewood to establish a massive lead for the hosts immediately. Twinkie II did fine with 422 for the Specters, but they remain far behind in the game. Diddley added a simple 379 for the Lumberjacks, taking it easy with such a large lead in tow. Blizzard made a small push with 355 for Harrison, but it appears the visitors will be left chasing their rivals. Summer slipped up at 96 for Maplewood, potentially opening the door late in the game after all. Rudolph didn't look comfortable for the Specters, his 135 sealing their loss at 1008. Bryant poked 290 at the end for the Lumberjacks to confirm their win at 1720. Maplewood rises to 15-6, separating themselves from the now 17-9 Harrison side.


Mercedes-Benz Field, Harrison: The Specters return home to a much weaker foe, as the shorthanded Monarchs are in town. Twinkie II gets a rare breather for the hosts. Mams launched 569 for Southern, trying to show they will not be easily pushed around. Sydney S. returned to form with 781 for Harrison, rewarding the manager's faith for keeping her in the lineup. Panda sliced 480 for the Monarchs, a strong turn on the second attack from the visiting captain. Blizzard's offense remained shaky with only 334 for the Specters, but it's enough to retain the lead for now. Pounce faltered at a middling 242 for Southern, putting them in a vulnerable position. Lexi carved out 550 for Harrison, restrengthening their lead with the pacey effort. Dominic produced 350 for the Monarchs, giving them 1641 in the loss. Rudolph tacked on 305 for the Specters to cap their win at 1970. Harrison gets back on track at 18-9, while Southern drops to 6-23, confirming a losing season.


FedEx Ground, Eastside: The Specters will rest Rudolph to complete their tripleheader, while the busy host Sharks have Cubby cycling back out of the lineup. Sydney S. put in a decent start with 371 for Harrison. Graham replied with an alright 319 for Eastside, keeping the game close if nothing else. Twinkie II returned to action with 763 for the Specters, clearly benefiting from getting a game off. Chelsea had good pace but fell at 363 for the Sharks, putting them definitively behind at the midway point. Blizzard posted 434 to keep Harrison's lead strong. Taylor M. wired 668 for Eastside on her turn, making a cut into the deficit with a player each to go. Lexi fought off the danger with 560 for the Specters, finishing their attack at 2128. Gizmo couldn't stop a fast offering, his 144 sealing the Sharks' loss at 1494. Harrison rises to 19-9, while Eastside falls back to 7-19.


Sprint Pitch, Victoria: The Monarchs begin a road doubleheader against a tough Spurs side. The Spurs will sit Mitchell against their shorthanded foes. Mams produced at a good pace, but a high swing stalled her at 350 for Southern. Spice rattled off 759 for Victoria on their first turn, setting the hosts far ahead. Panda replied with 691 for the Monarchs, keeping them competitive after the second attack. Yekaterina fought off the danger with 420 for the Spurs, retaining a small lead for the hosts at the halfway mark. Pounce hesitated on a swing, spiking it off the next offering to end with 321 for Southern. Sage covered it with 364 for Victoria, maintaining the hosts' lead heading into the final turn. Dominic fell at 199 for the Monarchs, leaving their final score at 1561. Strawberry launched 682 for the Spurs at the end, icing their win at 2225. Victoria rises to 15-11, while Southern drops to 6-24.


Google Pitch at Union Ground, Modernistic: The Monarchs complete the road doubleheader against the Union, who sit Daisy for rest against the downtrodden visitors. Mams was solid with 379 for Southern to start the scoring. Ms. Puppy exactly matched it with 379 for Modernistic, allowing this game to be determined by the rest of the players. Panda countered with 523 for the Monarchs, raising the stakes on the second attack. Puff I fired back with a massive 844 for the Union, putting them ahead. Pounce, feeling fatigued, ended at 224 for Southern, which failed to cover the deficit facing them. Kodiak added 419 for Modernistic in a slight extension of their lead. Dominic sliced 467 for the Monarchs at the end, closing their attack at 1593 in another loss. Sydney C. tapped 258 to help the Union finish their win at 1900 even. Modernistic gets up to 12-12, while Southern sinks to 6-25.


IBM Nighthawks Nest, North Modernistic: Urban rivals battle it out, with the Union ending a doubleheader without Kodiak, while the Nighthawks sit Gal to start a four-game home stand. Ms. Puppy was snuffed out at 243 for Modernistic, giving the visitors a poor start. Peach put up 441 at the start for North Modernistic to give them the initial lead. Daisy covered the deficit with a positive turn of 411 for the Union against their dangerous rivals. Cheddar's home slump persisted, as she hit only 128, costing the Nighthawks the mid-game lead. Puff I took 336 for Modernistic, returning to her more typical form. Lionel whacked 802 for North Modernistic to restore a lead for the hosts with a player each to go. Sydney C. fell at 144 for the Union, confirming their loss at 1134. Luigi poked 200 to ice the Nighthawks' win at 1571. North Modernistic continues to climb at 22-7, while Modernistic drops back to 12-13.


Starbucks Cup, Archtown: Northeastern rivals do battle here, with the host Arrows sitting A. Charlton while the visiting Spiders allow Waluigi to take some rest. Ted went with 328 for Web City at the start, a reasonable effort from the third-year veteran. Sally replied with a sharper attack, scoring 540 to give Archtown the initial lead. Jack slapped 368 for the Spiders to cover the deficit for now, although not by much. Sleepy B. answered effectively with 562 for the Arrows, extending their lead at the midway point. Avril carved out 420 for Web City, trying to keep them competitive despite the hosts' strong attacks. Hoppy slipped on a high hit with 350 for Archtown, costing them a small piece of their lead. Chicky Phil went with 280 for the Spiders, a low turn that left them in a loss with 1396. Dusky tacked on 534 to cap the Arrows' win at 1986. Archtown has won four straight to get to 12-14, virtually tied with 13-15 Web City.


UPS Ground, Maplewood: The Lumberjacks begin a week-ending doubleheader at home, with Whiskers out of the lineup against a Meteors team that will rest Dani. Princess got going with a decent 395 for Viewpoint Sound on the opening turn. Diddley edged Maplewood ahead with 458 on his turn, a close start between the teams. Hoot, fatigued from a pool appearance in Tournament day 6, fell with 202 for the Meteors to lightly cover the deficit. Summer made a small addition to the Lumberjacks lead with 276, although it's close enough for either team to take the game. Frosty lined 490 for Viewpoint Sound on a lively counterattack. Bryant protected Maplewood expertly with 525 on his turn. Nibbles lifted 484 for the Meteors at the end, capping their offense at 1571. Gabe charged with 617 for the Lumberjacks, securing the win at 1876. Maplewood is up to 16-6, while Viewpoint Sound falls to 10-13.


IBM Nighthawks Nest, North Modernistic: The Lumberjacks finish their doubleheader in the Week 13 finale. Summer sits for the visitors, while the hosts bench a slumping Cheddar. Whiskers set the tone with a fierce 1080 for Maplewood, shocking the hosts right away. Peach got about half of it back with 535 for North Modernistic, which still has her side far back. Diddley added 441 for the Lumberjacks, keeping them in a prime position. Gal managed only 334 for the Nighthawks, causing them to slip farther behind. Bryant continued Maplewood's coasting to the finish with 300 points on his turn. Lionel made a gain with 421 on a pacey push for North Modernistic, but they still trail significantly late in the game. Gabe collected 554 for the Lumberjacks at the end, icing their offense at 2375 in what should be a win. Luigi had an average 405 for the Nighthawks as they took a stunning defeat at 1695. Maplewood goes to 17-6, while North Modernistic dips to 22-8, with the teams swapping places at the top of the table.
