Select Cricket 2019 - Week 14

Select is ready to go for the last week before the second United Cup break. First up...


IBM Nighthawks Nest, North Modernistic: The Nighthawks will sit Luigi to start the week, while the Gems are without Katelynn. Shadow posted 391 for Diamond to start the contest, only giving them a decent start against a dangerous host. Peach struck 500 for North Modernistic in response to earn the early lead. Smokey answered with 595 for the Gems, offering a challenge to the hosts on the second attack. Cheddar had only 192 for the Nighthawks on her turn, causing them to fall behind. Pedey was steady with 384 for Diamond, maintaining their lead fairly well. Gal replied with 419 to keep the deficit steady for North Modernistic. Leonardo went with 456 for the Gems at the end, capping their offense at 1826. Lionel couldn't rally with 310 for the Nighthawks, leaving them to take the loss at 1421 overall. Diamond's upset gets them up to 13-13, while North Modernistic slips to 22-9.


Microsoft Pitch, Del Sur: The Monarchs remain without Salmo, who will return after the United Cup break, while the Sharks sit Gizmo for this meeting. Graham produced 501 for Eastside on the opening turn. Mams took only 245 for Southern at the start, putting the hosts behind to begin the game. Chelsea added 490 for the Sharks, nearly doubling their offense with the effort. Panda cut into the deficit with a sharp 643 for the Monarchs, closing the gap a little at the midway mark. Taylor M. countered that excellently with 640 for Eastside, maintaining their lead in the process. Pounce notched 326 for Southern, going at a good pace before misplacing a swing. Cubby lashed 541 for the Sharks at the end, capping their offense at 2172 in what should go as a win. Dominic tried to push, but ended with 326 as the Monarchs lost with 1540 in total. Eastside improved to 8-19, while Southern drops to 6-26.


UPS Ground, Maplewood: The visiting Union go without Sydney C. given recent performance, while the Lumberjacks sit Bryant for regular rest. Ms. Puppy went off with 689 for Modernistic on their first turn, putting pressure on the hosts very early on. Whiskers fired back with a stronger 813 for Maplewood to give them the initial lead. Daisy replied with 482 for the Union on the second attack, keeping the offense high. Diddley had only 375 for the Lumberjacks, causing their lead to shrink a bit at mid-game. Puff I erupted for 775 for Modernistic, as the plucky visitors refuse to go quietly. Summer kept Maplewood on top with 780 on her turn, but there's plenty left to be decided by the final players. Kodiak slipped at 300 for the Union, leaving their total at 2246 for the game. Gabe hit a firm 400 for the Lumberjacks at the end, sealing their win at 2368. Maplewood is up to 18-6 with the win, while Modernistic drops to 12-14.


Home Depot Forum, Web City: Chicky Phil is back out of action for the Spiders in a Northeastern Derby against an Arrows team missing Sally for rest. Sleepy B. stepped into the lead-off role admirably with 650 for Archtown at the start of the game. Waluigi had 334 for Web City in response, putting them behind initially. Hoppy answered with 774 for the Arrows, extending their lead quite nicely. Ted managed 472 for the Spiders on the second attack, but they remain far behind. Dusky kept Archtown's offense hot with 677 on her turn as they pile on viciously against their hosts. Jack took 368 for Web City, who clearly don't have what it takes to keep up this time. A. Charlton slapped 722 for the Arrows at the end, capping their big game at 2823. Avril ended at 364 as the Spiders took a hard loss at 1538. Archtown jumps to 13-14, passing the 13-16 Web City side they bested.


FedEx Ground, Eastside: Chelsea will get a rare off-game for the host Sharks in this Eastern Hills Derby, while Wild Thing takes regular rest for the visiting Wolves. Juno had a mild 345 for Stonebridge to open the scoring this time. Graham answered with 525 for Eastside, giving them the edge early in the game. Cobalt was unable to cover the deficit by more than just a little bit, hitting a mediocre 264 for the Wolves. Taylor M. made a solid addition with 410 for the Sharks to keep their lead clear and obvious. Hershey fired off 550 for Stonebridge to make them a little more competitive for now. Gizmo slipped at 162 for Eastside, showing a little fatigue after a pool appearance, which has put the hosts in a dangerous position. Vladimir rallied with 714 to ice the Wolves' attack at 1873. Cubby fell far short at 311 for the Sharks, sticking them with a loss at 1408. Stonebridge rises to 12-10, while Eastside is 8-20 after the loss.


Volkswagen Stadium, Viewpoint Sound: Frosty is out of action for the Meteors in this game, as is Sydney S. as both players are designated for rest. Twinkie II couldn't find her pace for Harrison, collapsing with a mere 177 on the opening turn. Princess rattled off 650 for Viewpoint Sound in response, giving them a significant early lead. Blizzard was pinned back to 295 for the Specters, unable to cover the deficit with the poor turn. Hoot didn't do much better with 285 for the Meteors, but they remain comfortably ahead for now. Lexi smacked 795 for Harrison to cover the deficit, sending a firm message to the hosts. Nibbles only had 280 for Viewpoint Sound, unable to restore their lead heading into the final turn. Rudolph pushed on with 616 for the Specters to cap their offense at 1883. Dani bailed at 285 for the Meteors, which left them at a loss with 1500 even. Harrison survived the early scare to rise to 20-9, while Viewpoint Sound is down to 10-14.


IBM Nighthawks Nest, North Modernistic: Gabe won't play for the Lumberjacks in a battle between the top Select teams, while Lionel is out for the hosts. Whiskers hammered 864 for Maplewood to start the game positively for the visitors. Peach kept it pretty close with a hard 790 for North Modernistic, starting the game in electric fashion. Diddley had some struggles with pace as he hit 310 to weaken the Lumberjacks' lead. Cheddar punished that mistake with a slump-busting 917 for the Nighthawks, giving them a sturdy lead at the halfway mark. Summer faltered at 277 for Maplewood, making a comeback unlikely for the visitors. Gal sufficed with 339 for North Modernistic, making only a small addition to their lead. Bryant tried to attack with pace, but his 291 left the Lumberjacks in a loss with 1742. Luigi made a quick exit at 115 for the Nighthawks to ice their offense at 2161. North Modernistic gains ground at 23-9, in a near-tie with 18-7 Maplewood for first place in the division.


Home Depot Forum, Web City: Princess will be on the bench for the Meteors this time, while Ted takes a turn on the bench for the host Spiders. Hoot had only 258 for Viewpoint Sound, continuing to struggle this week. Waluigi showed some high energy as he hit 476 for Web City to give the hosts the first crack at the lead. Frosty returned to the lineup with an aggressive 714 for the Meteors to easily cover the deficit. Jack's home struggles persisted as he managed a simple 345 that puts the Spiders behind. Nibbles took only 277 for Viewpoint Sound, causing their lead to destabilize. Avril knocked 379 for Web City to make a gain that brings the scores close with a player each to go. Dani grabbed 321 for the Meteors to cap their offense at 1570. Chicky Phil didn't have enough for the Spiders, his 327 leaving them to lose with 1527. Viewpoint Sound sneaks away with the win to get to 11-14, while Web City is 13-17 with the loss.


UPS Ground, Maplewood: Puff I is scheduled out of the lineup for the Union, while Diddley sits for the host Lumberjacks. Ms. Puppy started with a hefty 811 for Modernistic, giving them a significant lead on the initial turn. Whiskers slugged 1068 in response for Maplewood, putting the hosts ahead again. Daisy replied with a solid 416 for the Union on the second attack, enough to cover the deficit. Summer scooped 470 for the Lumberjacks to give their lead a little more power at the halfway mark. Kodiak produced 288 for Modernistic, unable to really pressure the hosts this time. Bryant carried 541 for Maplewood this time, keeping them in control of the game. Sydney C. couldn't buck the trend with 308 for the Union, who lost with 1823. Gabe tapped 289 to ice the Lumberjacks' win at 2368 again. Maplewood improved to 19-7, while Modernistic drops to 12-15.


FedEx Ground, Eastside: Taylor M. will take some rest for the Sharks this time, while the visiting Specters begin their road doubleheader without Blizzard. Sydney S. gave Harrison a positive start with 686 on the opening turn. Graham nearly doubled it up with 1237 for Eastside, setting a high pace to start this contest. Twinkie II didn't get much back with 283 for the Specters, keeping them at a deficit after the second attack. Chelsea countered with 509 for the Sharks, maintaining the large lead for the hosts. Lexi went with a stormy pace for Harrison, rallying with 877 to get them back in the fight. Gizmo posted 425 for Eastside, trying to fend off the danger from the visitors. Rudolph didn't get much done with 376 for the Specters, leaving them at 2222 to force the hosts into a small response. Cubby did enough to win with 185 individually to give the Sharks 2356 in the win. Eastside's upset gets them up to 9-20, while Harrison drops back to 20-10.


Starbucks Cup, Archtown: The Specters end a road doubleheader with this Northeastern Derby match, sitting Twinkie II, while the Arrows have A. Charlton resting again. Sydney S. was strong again with 625 for Harrison, and she hopes her team will support well this time. Sally didn't match that with 391 for Archtown, giving the hosts some work to do later on. Blizzard covered that damage with 407 for the Specters in her return to the lineup. Sleepy B. made some gains with 605 for the Arrows on a pacey attack to bring the teams closer together. Lexi didn't have much left in the tank after her last outing, ending at 298 for Harrison this time. Hoppy didn't close the gap any with 281 for Archtown, leaving this game to be decided by the final players. Rudolph went with 445 for the Specters at the end, capping their offense at 1775. Dusky couldn't pull the Arrows ahead with 414, leaving them to lose at 1691. Harrison is up to 21-10, while Archtown slides to 13-15.


UPS Ground, Maplewood: The Lumberjacks elect to give Summer rest for this game, while the Gems are doing the same for Pedey to close out week 14. Shadow sprayed 337 for Diamond on the initial turn, an alright start for the visitors. Whiskers answered with 576 for Maplewood, cooling a little but still staking out a lead for her side. Smokey covered the deficit with 434 for the Gems on the second attack. Diddley had a simple 300 for the Lumberjacks in response, causing their lead to weaken midway through the game. Katelynn took an awkward swing at the end of her turn, scoring 364 for Diamond. Bryant stepped up with 600 for Maplewood to restore the strength of their lead heading into the final turn. Leonardo tried to attack with pace but fell at 319 to leave the Gems at 1454 in the loss. Gabe exited at 242 for the Lumberjacks to cap their offense at 1718 in the win. Maplewood jumps to 20-7, while Diamond dips to 13-14.

That'll be all for Select for a few weeks as they enter the United Cup break.
