UPCL Cricket: Week 22 Part 2

The games roll on with...

Mercedes-Benz Field, Harrison: This segment also begins with a Northeastern derby, as the Eagles look to finish a sweep attempt they started with their home opener. Goldy hit 345 in a reasonable opener for Everton. Slinks narrowly covered it for Harrison, hitting 377 to give them the initial lead. Puff III answered with 527 for the Eagles, giving them a more confident lead. Twinkie II answered with only 204 as the Specters fall behind in this game. Cleo sliced 424 for Everton, padding their lead a little more. Sydney couldn't get it all back, taking 375 for Harrison in a solid performance from the rookie. Blizzard tallied 343 for the Eagles, putting them at a total of 1639. Brownie messed up her turn with only 63 for the Specters, giving them a loss with 1019, their fifth straight at home. Everton jumps to 39-10, while Harrison is down to 17-27.

Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: The West Division gets the spotlight for this match. Snuggle struck 279 to begin the game for Oceanside in a middling effort. Smudge barely pulled Infinity ahead, scoring 281 on her turn. Bells had just 128 for the Waves, putting them in a vulnerable position. Shelley gave the Torpedoes a massive lead, slugging 1672 to establish what should create a victory. Alyssa replied with 458 as Oceanside tries to at least salvage pride from this game. Gabe had only 78 for Infinity, putting them in cruise control as the end of this game nears. Pounce had 201, putting the Waves at a final of 1066 in the loss. Whiskers iced the Torpedoes victory with 339 individually, giving them a final of 2370. Infinity gets the upset to move up to 18-22, while Oceanside slips to 23-17.

Pepsi Prestige Park, Lighton: It's the first meeting of the year for these two talented teams. Kiwi picked up 367 in a reasonable start for Terrace City. Acorn answered with 291 for Lighton, unable to fully cover the deficit. Jennifer belted 1142 for the Knights, making a huge second effort as the visitors gain a big lead. Spirit answered with 522 for the Prestige, making a significant dent in the deficit. Oreo cranked out another 894 for Terrace City, propelling them even farther ahead in a dominant showing. Twinkie I collapsed with 82 for Lighton, likely sealing their fate as a loss for this game. Stripes chipped 245 for the Knights, putting them at 2648 overall. Lydia got distracted by a high-arcing ball, and ended with 122 on a bad swing, putting the Prestige at 1017. Terrace City continues to tear up the standings, now at 26-20, while Lighton is 26-18 with the defeat.

UPS Ground, Maplewood: The Lumberjacks have a chance to sweep the Monarchs, and doing so would greatly help them in the fight for a playoff spot. Panda had a wonderful start with 631 for Southern, but there have been plenty of good efforts wasted by that team. Fluffina went into form with a huge 872 to give Maplewood the initial lead. Shannon rallied back with 543 to keep the Monarchs alive for this one. Bryant suppressed that opposition by demolishing 1610 for the Lumberjacks, cementing their lead in a high-scoring game. Kirstin countered with 546 for Southern as they put up a strong fight. Diddley added 357 for Maplewood, keeping their lead stable. Nicole had 300 for the Monarchs, giving them 2020 in one of their more resilient losses. Cubby tacked on 359 to give the Lumberjacks 3198 as their grand total. Maplewood snapped a four-game home losing streak to get to 18-19, while Southern has a hard luck loss to drop to 12-37.

Google Pitch at Union Ground, Modernistic: It's another first meeting situation in this game. Smudge started with 256 for Infinity in a fairly average effort. Juno had 361 to put Modernistic in the lead early in the game. Shelley managed 287 for the Torpedoes, covering the deficit. The Union got only 73 from Ms. Puppy, falling behind at the halfway mark because of the poor showing. Gabe finished a bit clumsy and ended with 288 for Infinity, leaving them partially vulnerable. Chimpy countered with 450 for Modernistic, pulling them ahead but just slightly as the final players come to bat. Whiskers made the most of a mandatory replay, scoring 745 for the Torpedoes, which leaves them with 1576 and in a good position. Puff I made a rally with 401 for the Union, but they came up short at 1285 in the loss. Infinity continues to surge, with a record of 19-22, while Modernistic is down to 16-26.

AT&T Hall, Oceanside: The Waves have a chance to sweep after previously beating the Crowns in Royal. Frosty began with 420 for Royal in a solid opening attack for the visitors. Snuggle nearly caught up with 345 for Oceanside, doing his part to keep it a close game. Jake had 311 for the Crowns, keeping their lead fairly stable. Bells got some back with 336 for the Waves, but they still trail slightly halfway through the game. Marsell answered with 641 for Royal, charging them into a much stronger lead. Alyssa saw her wicket fall far forward but remain in play, causing her to have to lift all her swings until she failed at 336 for Oceanside, hurting their comeback chances. Nightfur had 96 for the Crowns, putting them at 1468 total. Pounce rallied back with 522 for the Waves, giving them the win on 1539. Oceanside gets the jump to 24-17, while Royal has fallen to 14-27 with the loss.

Verizon Field, Pacific: Another Coastal versus Southeast game, with the Volcanoes seeking a sweep. Crystal had just 186 for Queens in a poor appearance to start the game. Starlight answered with just 152 for Pacific, as the game gets off to a low-scoring start. Kayla faltered with a meager 64 for the Flames, leaving them vulnerable again. Ms. Kitty picked up 359, but failed with her backhand, giving the Volcanoes a modest lead. Max kept Queens alive with a big 515 on his turn, pulling them ahead. Jack covered the deficit with 339 for Pacific, setting up a pretty tight game for the final players to decide. Paige had a simple 279 for the Flames, putting them at a far from safe final of 1044. Leonette left no doubt with 484 for the Volcanoes, spiking them to the win on 1334 overall. Pacific reenters a tie for fourth in the league at 30-16, while Queens is on the other end of the standings at 14-29.

Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Up the coast a bit, the best in the West visits another highly-ranked division rival, with the Blades having the chance to sweep after a gritty win early in the season. Snowball set a good tone, flicking 497 for Swordpoint to open the scoring. Watermelon answered with 656 for Pearl, making it a high scoring exchange. Dreamy fired back with 526 for the Blades, keeping her team ahead. Neopolitan stumbled with a measly 33 for the Surfers, digging them a hole to get out of. Shawn kept the Swordpoint attack strong and balanced with his 537. Wings couldn't make a response, hitting a pathetic 49 for Pearl as the game gets out of reach for them. Stealth pummeled 708 for the Blades, icing their offense at 2268 in what should be a win for the division leaders. Cowzart produced a quick end with 119 for the Surfers, leaving them embarrassed in the loss with just 857 as a team. Swordpoint gets the sweep they desired to move to 30-14, while Pearl drops to 24-16.

Tridents Park sponsored by Ford, Pronger: The Stills can sweep after their win over the Tridents last week. Easter hauled in a big 677 to begin the game for Todavía, a very strong effort from the captain. Strawberry took 267 in response from Pronger, and they'll work from behind in this game. Sierra countered with 441 for the Stills, extending their lead nicely. Hoot swung 327 for the Tridents, attempting to mitigate the damage at the halfway mark of the game. Leonardo slapped 530 for Todavía, padding the lead once again for the visitors. Precious got a bit jammed, and it caused her to overcompensate, ending her turn at 295 for Pronger on a big swing. Sparkles hit only 80 for the Stills, but they finish with 1728, and they should be able to get the win. Paps got beat on a swing-and-miss to give the Tridents 368, capping their losing score at 1257. Todavía continues to make a comeback at 24-25, while Pronger falls to 14-28 with the loss, their tenth straight at home and sixth straight overall.

Ebay Center, Queens: The Intercity Derby sends a couple of participants from each participating region, with the Flames in line for the sweep. Spice lined 472 for Victoria in a strong opening turn. Crystal answered with 447 for Queens, keeping it close early on. B. Chapman was too slow with her backhand draw, and she ended up with 177 for the Spurs, as they are now vulnerable. Kayla gave the Flames a lead with her 407, a strong effort for the struggling team. Yekaterina slapped 319 for Victoria, covering the deficit. Max couldn't make a sufficient response, taking a meager 64 for Queens as they fall behind with a player each to go. Kavan had a mild 257 for the Spurs, putting them at 1225 overall. Paige smashed 726 for the Flames, giving them the win with a final of 1644. Queens gets the sweep, improving to 15-29, while a fifth straight loss for Victoria has them at 15-27.

Kraft Crowns Park, Royal: The Stills play in their fiftieth game against the Crowns for their first meeting of the season to wrap up segment two. Easter batted 415 for Todavía in the lead off role. Frosty answered with 397 for Royal, keeping them definitively in range. Sierra didn't handle a cluttered pitch very well, ending on 87 for the Stills as their lead gets less stable. Jake's 167 covered the deficit for the Crowns, but not by a whole lot. Leonardo had a weak 129 as Todavía seems to be squandering this game. Marsell kept Royal just barely in the lead with his 112, setting up the close finish to a low-scoring game. Sparkles cost the Stills the game, taking a pathetic 82 to put them at 713 total. Nightfur tapped 105 to give the Crowns a win with 781. Royal improves to 15-27, while Todavía is now 24-26 with an inexcusable setback given their point of the season.

Part 3 to follow sometime tomorrow more than likely.
