UPCL Cricket - Week 32 Part 3

We're back for the last segment of this week of games. First up...

Chevrolet Field, Everton: The Eagles try to right the ship at home against their Northeastern rivals, the Lumberjacks, who enter this Forest Derby with some road momentum on their side. Maplewood's Fluffina had a false start on her first try, and managed a simple 271 on the replay to start the game. Goldy left frustrated for Everton with just 20 points after bounces and bad hits, putting her team at a deficit. Diddley shot back with a massive 796 for the Lumberjacks, padding their lead quite a bit. Puff III put everything she had into getting the Eagles back in the game with her 831, keeping their hopes alive. Bryant didn't have as strong of a turn for Maplewood, taking 298 to add a little cushion to their lead. Kirstin pulled Everton a bit close with 431 on her turn, shrinking the deficit as the final players step up to bat. Waluigi continued his late season success with 447 for the Lumberjacks, challenging the hosts to meet the mark at 1812. Blizzard found her groove at just the right time for the Eagles, rallying to 583 to give them a win with 1865. Everton's season isn't done yet, as they pull back to 33-31, while Maplewood drops to 20-43 with the loss.

Coca-Cola Field, Boston: The Swifts are set to wrap up a three-game home stand against a fairly non-threatening Hummingbirds team. Princess exploded with pace at the start of this game for Tysini, but she missed her target on a swing to end with 337 in a decent turn. Patches shot back at a similar pace for Boston, but she had much stronger control on her swings to take 609 for the initial lead. Leandra did enough for the Hummingbirds to cover the deficit with 423, keeping things competitive in this game. Puff II kept the Swifts lead steady quite well, countering perfectly with 423 to match her opposite mark. Charli got tripped up by a terrible pair of deflections, one costing her points and the other ending her turn at just 36 for Tysini. Gradley didn't meet his usual standard for Boston, but his 312 gives their lead a bit more strength heading into the final players' turns. Brownie did well to take 456 for the Hummingbirds, but they ended up short at 1252 overall for a loss. Sweetheart lashed another 528 for the Swifts, bringing their winning final score to 1872. Boston rises up to 44-20, while Tysini is down to 24-37 after the loss.

BMW RockDome, Westside: The Rockers wrap up a four-game home stand in this appearance, while the Sharpshooters try to keep their playoff hopes alive in the second of a three-game road trip. Chris led off in a big way with 608 for Capital City this time, a good start from the captain. Misty kept things close despite her slow start for Westside, staying involved to get 519 on the initial attack. Missy got beat on a disappointing deflection for the Sharpshooters, ending with just 66 on her turn. Goatee predictably covered the deficit for the Rockers, grabbing 417 to give them a noticeable lead. Sprinkles just scraped over the deficit going the other way for Capital City with 305 on an uninspiring turn. Midnight restored a much smaller lead for Westside, taking a poor 188 to keep the hosts in front for now. Nicole chipped in with 249 for the Sharpshooters at the end, putting their final score at 1228. Slinks made sure to close out the game well for the Rockers with 760, putting their final score at 1884 in the win. Westside rises to 42-21, clinching a playoff spot, while Capital City's playoff hopes dwindle as they fall to 31-35.

IBM Nighthawks Nest, North Modernistic: The Nighthawks fight for their playoff lives in the second of a five-game home stand, while the Waves are in the second of a three-game road trip. Oceanside had a pretty strong start from Snuggle, as he lined 679 to put them in a good position. Peach fired right back for North Modernistic, making it extremely close when she scored 665 on the response. Caitlin answered with 420 for the Waves, maintaining a slightly smaller lead after her turn. Luigi had replays for a false start and a technical error, and his third try produced a mild 225 as the Nighthawks trail more noticeably now. Celestia flipped 816 for Oceanside on her turn, a great performance to solidify their lead quite nicely. A deflection brought Cheddar down abruptly at 64 for North Modernistic, greatly reducing their comeback chances. Dewey didn't provide a lot of extra support for the Waves, ending on 270 to give them 2185 overall. Bright had a blundering hit for the Nighthawks to end with a measly 78, leaving them at a loss with 1032. Oceanside rises to 32-33, while North Modernistic is down to 30-35.

Chevrolet Field, Everton: The Eagles, long-time first place holders, meet the Volcanoes, the current top team in the league, for a heated match. Starlight swatted a large 743 for Pacific on the opening turn, the visiting captain wasting no time in establishing her team. Goldy didn't falter this time for Everton, standing her ground to strike 696, getting the hosts quite close initially. Ms. Kitty didn't give a lot of cover for the Volcanoes, posting 271 as their lead takes a bit of damage. Puff III did enough with 378 to put the Eagles in front at the midway mark in a still-close game. Leonette managed to cover that deficit with 300 for Pacific, but they are not in a comfortable position yet. Kirstin couldn't build on the opportunity for Everton, taking just 273 on her turn as they retain a very small lead with a player each to go. Chicky Phil put on a surge at the end for the Volcanoes, carrying them forward with his 750 to a final score of 2064. Blizzard couldn't bring the Eagles all the way back with 551, leaving them at 1892 in the loss. Pacific is a bit lucky to win, going to 46-19, while Everton drops to 33-32 with the loss.

Google Pitch at Union Ground, Modernistic: These two Urban Division rivals meet, as the Union end a five-game home stand and the Tradewinds play the third of a four-game road trip. Tigerette had a bit of trouble keeping her swings clean, and she deflected a ball to end at 312 for Commerce when it took out her wicket. Ms. Puppy essentially doubled that performance on her own with 623 for Modernistic, giving them the early lead. Ice Cream accidentally spiked a ball out of play, ending her turn at 102 for the Tradewinds. Daisy attacked with great pace for the Union, ripping 769 to pad their lead at the halfway mark. Lionel couldn't get anything special going against his former team, crashing out at 129 as the deficit grows again. Puff I just missed the target on an early swing, giving her a meager 66 for Modernistic instead. Lorde's 360 for the Tradewinds confirmed the end of their five-game road winning streak as they lose with 903 in this game. Strawberry easily capped the game with 351 for the Union, icing their win at 1809. Modernistic gets a big boost to 32-28, while Commerce drops to 31-35.

Apple Park, Todavía: The Stills put their nine-game home winning streak on the line against a Swifts team notoriously skilled at battling on the road. Patches had a golden chance to break out for a long turn, but ended up taking only 124 for Boston in a disappointing opening turn. Easter would have liked to build up more of a lead for Todavía, but she'll settle for 384 for her first attack. Puff II put in a sturdy challenge with 487 for the Swifts, covering the deficit rather easily. Sierra showed a bit more pace for the Stills on her attacking, rallying for 708 to strengthen the hosts' lead at the midway point. Gradley put in a decent performance with 465 for Boston, but he couldn't cover the deficit despite the strong effort. Sparkles countered back with 425 for Todavía, maintaining their lead as the final players come to bat. Sweetheart wouldn't let the hosts get off easy, blasting 843 to give the Swifts 1919 as their final, while also forcing a response. Bells didn't have it in her to save the day for the Stills, ending on 228 to give them 1745 in the loss. Boston gets a surprise win to rise to 45-20, while Todavía's long winning streak is snapped as they fall to 36-30.

Cisco Tysini Field, Tysini: The Hummingbirds return home for a game, playing against a Union team needing to get back on track in road appearances. Ms. Puppy couldn't improve her pace much for Modernistic after a slow start, dropping out at 297 in a middling opener. Princess countered very effectively with 577 for Tysini, giving them a healthy initial lead. Daisy responded pretty well for the Union with 571, covering the deficit with the second attack. Leandra had a pitiful turn for the Hummingbirds, unable to connect on a good swing at any point while scoring just 48. Puff I wasted the chance to pull Modernistic farther ahead, taking a measly 16 on her terrible turn as well. Charli put Tysini back in control of the game, slashing a crisp 795 on her turn to break the game out of its scoring doldrums. Strawberry also had only 16 for the Union, the scoring just disappearing as they lose with a flat 900. Brownie sealed up the Hummingbirds win with 392, putting them at a final of 1812. Tysini snapped a four-game home losing streak to get to 25-37, while Modernistic drops back to 32-29 with the loss.

Microsoft Pitch, Del Sur: The Monarchs aren't the most intimidating hosts, but the Eagles have lost six straight on the road and needed to right the ship games ago. Goldy got severely distracted at the end of her turn, stalling at 496 for Everton, a solid performance despite the abrupt end. No harm was done for the visitors, as Southern's captain Panda responded with a mediocre 240 on his turn. The Eagles' Puff III weakened their lead as a ball hit her in the wrist, jamming her scoring at 99. Hoppy pulled the Monarchs ahead with an excellent turn, smashing 805 to put them ahead at the midway mark. Kirstin simply swung and missed on her last attempt for Everton, putting up just 224 against her former team as the visitors are officially in trouble. Pounce didn't put the game out of reach, supplying Southern with only 207 in a sub-par turn. Blizzard let the Eagles down with 292, leaving them in a loss with a final score of 1111. Shannon provided a strong 472 at the end for the Monarchs, capping their winning total at 1724. Southern gets a boost to 26-35 on the year, while Everton sinks to 33-33.

Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The Knights look for a boost in the standings against a road-weary Meteors side riding an eight-game road losing skid near the end of the year. Mams didn't have much for pace for Viewpoint Sound, and only scored 112 on a technical error replay, a poor effort. Kiwi fired back with 551 for Terrace City, a strong performance to put them comfortably ahead. Hoot did well with 370 for the Meteors, but he couldn't cover the deficit facing the visitors with that performance. Jennifer fell into step with her captain for the Knights, tacking on another 552 to extend the lead nicely. Nibbles tried to keep Viewpoint Sound in the game with 527 on his turn, but the deficit remains. Oreo kept the Terrace City lead fairly stable, batting 424 to mitigate the previous damage against them. Dominic rushed his last swing for the Meteors, ending on 272 to give them 1281 in their ninth straight road loss. Stripes didn't do much in the end with 223, leaving the Knights in a win with 1750 over her former team. Terrace City rises to 37-29, while Viewpoint Sound is 26-39, officially eliminated from playoff contention.

Samsung Whitewater Stadium, Whitewater: These two teams are locked in a positioning battle, with the Shores hoping to get revenge on the Predators in their second meeting of the year. Shawn began the game with a quick 539 for Midland, using a strong pace to make such a significant attack. Bear answered with a massive 994 for Whitewater in response, giving the hosts the initial lead. Rainmane covered the deficit with a nice counterattack of 615 for the Predators, keeping the scoring high in this game. Twinkie III showed even more strength for the Shores, slugging 1040 to boost their lead in a big way. Leonardo hauled in 593 for Midland on a strong turn, but he couldn't get the visitors to cover the deficit this time. Marsell slipped up a bit for Whitewater with 266, ending their 4k dream and weakening their lead with a player each to go. Fuchsia wasted the comeback opportunity for the Predators, her 152 leaving them short at 1899 in the loss. Shaggy didn't bother making the game look better at the end, as she took 225 and gave the Shores a total of 2525 in the win. Whitewater got revenge, rising to 36-22, while dumping Midland to 38-25 in the loss.

FedEx Ground, Eastside: The Sharks try to play the spoiler in the finale for Week 32, facing a Stills team that has lost six straight on the road. Easter had only 96 for Todavía to start this game, a terrible opening turn that leaves them quite vulnerable. Chelsea took full advantage of the opportunity for Eastside, lining 854 at the start to give the hosts a large lead initially. Sierra didn't let the Stills take this lying down, covering the deficit with her 876 to put them marginally ahead for now. Taylor had one of her worst home games at one of the worst times, giving the Sharks only 28 as they now trail at the halfway mark. Sparkles couldn't pull Todavía farther ahead, suffering a clean deflection that ended her turn early at 225. Niki just met that challenge for Eastside with her 343, putting them narrowly ahead with a player each to go in a sloppy thriller. Bells wouldn't make it easy at all, hammering 735 for the Stills to put their final score at 1932. Paps couldn't settle a ball with his backhand, bowing out at 368 as the Sharks lose with 1593 total. Todavía gets the win to rise to 37-30, while Eastside sinks to 29-37 with the loss.

That's all for this segment. Plans have shifted a big for the City Cup playoffs, as it looks like they will start on Thursday. That makes tomorrow a big day for Week 33 of cricket instead of having the big day on Friday. Players of the Week and a standings update will be published shortly.
