This edition of pool comes with 60 games for 20 first round series. We begin at...
Audi Hall, Terrace City: Jennifer v. Amber. The first set of the day is Accuracy with the blue cue. Atlantic's Amber did well at first, but faded in the end. Terrace City's Jennifer missed shots early, and Amber took a 3-4 win for a 1-0 series lead. In game 2, the Pirates' Amber was wild, while the Knights' Jennifer played sloppy but effective in a 4-8 win to tie the series at 1. Amber had a highlight in game 3, with a 14-8 combination to the bottom left from distance. Amber proved to be nearly perfect in her 2-3 victory to take the series 2-1. Amber gets the nod into the second round.
Starbucks Arena, Archtown: Sally v. Zach. The next series kept the blue cue at the table for 12-ball. Viewpoint Sound's Zach had a three-ball run end in a scratch, only to pull out a three-ball run-out on his next turn to take a 1-0 series lead over Archtown's Sally. The Meteors' Zach had a four-ball run in game 2, but he did give up a wild card ball in the process. The Arrows' Sally jumped at her chance, working from ball-in-hand to win the game and tie the series at 1. Game 3 went back and forth, with Sally's defensive positioning at the top side being the difference as Zach missed. Sally took the 2-1 series win and advances to the second round.
Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: Missy v. Ruby. The game is back to Accuracy, but with the silver cue. Capital City's Missy was untouchable in game 1, winning 0-2 to take a 1-0 series lead over Archtown's Ruby. In game 2, Ruby crashed from a lofty start but the Arrows star survived as the Sharpshooters' Missy couldn't avoid losing 4-5, with the series evening at 1. Ruby stayed a step ahead of Missy in game 3, taking the game 3-4 and the series 2-1 to move onto the second round.
Mercedes-Benz Forum, Harrison: Sydney Sierota v. Citrus. Harrison's Sydney worked two three-ball runs in game 1 of a 10-ball series with the silver cue, but Diamond's Citrus vultured the win with a modest two-ball run-out at the end for a 1-0 series lead. Game 2 went more back and forth, with the Specters' Sydney taking the late advantage on a tough cut of the 10 to the top right for the win to tie the series at 1. In game 3, Sydney worked a three-ball run but lost possession on missed contact, and the Gems' Citrus put the 10 in the top side to seal the series at 2-1 and book a ticket into round two.
Amazon Field Exhibition Hall, Golden: Valencia v. Patches. Two big games duel in Accuracy with the red cue. Boston's Patches had a strong start in game 1, coasting to a 3-5 win over an erratic Valencia of Golden, for a 1-0 series lead. The Swifts' Patches got very sloppy toward the end of game 2, and this allowed the Pilots' Valencia to swoop in for a 5-6 win to tie the series at 1. The players combined to miss six straight shots to open game 3, but Patches got settled first, winning 7-10 to take the series 2-1 in an unconvincing fashion. Patches is on to the second round.
Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: Sprinkles v. Mams. We return to the center of the map for this meeting in 8-ball with the blue cue. Sprinkles of Capital City worked a six-ball run, only to see Viewpoint Sound's Mams run six balls and cut the 8 to the top right on her next turn for the 1-0 series lead on a thrilling win. Mams stayed hot in game 2, as the longtime Meteor ran seven balls from the break, but the Sharpshooters' Sprinkles played solid defense to prevent Mams a clean shot at the 8. Sprinkles chipped away to get the win and tie the series. Game 3 was much tighter than the previous two games, with Sprinkles displaying accuracy and employing a three-ball run-out to emerge with a 2-1 series win and a second round bid.
Nestle's Warriors Hall, Central: Noelle v. Chimpy. The game is back to 10-ball with the blue cue. Modernistic's Chimpy dominated possession in game 1, with a four-ball run and a three-ball run-out giving him a 1-0 lead over Central's Noelle. In game 2, the Warriors' Noelle double-potted the 2 to the bottom right and the 8 to the top right in an impressive shot. However, Noelle's illegally potted ball on the 3 and a short leave on the 10 allowed Chimpy to tap in for a win that clinched the series at 2-0 for the mystical Union enigma. Noelle scratched after the 9 in game 3, and Chimpy took the 10 from ball-in-hand for a 3-0 series sweep to go into the second round.
Cisco Arena, Tysini: Princess v. Cassandra. The silver cue comes on for more 10-ball here. In game 1, Cassandra broke free at the end, with the Diamond player taking a 1-0 lead over Tysini's Princess. The Gems' Cassandra maintained that edge into the early parts of game 2, but the Hummingbirds' Princess countered after Cassandra bent too many rules. Princess tied the series with a win in classical style, banking the 10 from the right rail to the top left. Cassandra had more struggles in game 3, with a three-ball run leaving the 10 short for Princess to bury and take the series 2-1, working from behind to get into the second round.
Ford Forum, Pronger: Precious v. Marsell. The red cue returns for 9-ball. Pronger's Precious controlled much of the pace in game 1, but a late miss gave Royal's Marsell an easy path to a 1-0 series lead with the win. Game 2 saw the roles reversed, as the Crowns' Marsell started well, but a scratch ending his three-ball run gave the Tridents' Precious time to shine. She potted the 8 to the top side and the 9 to the bottom right on tough cuts to tie the series at 1. In game 3, Marsell played strong but scratched to end a three-ball run again, and Precious deposited the 9 for a 2-1 series win and a chance to play in the second round.
Nestle's Warriors Hall, Central: Noelle v. Marsell. Recent series losers meet for 8-ball with the red cue. Central's Noelle got undone by scratches in game 1, and despite a six-ball run, Royal's Marsell ground out a solid victory for a 1-0 series lead. Game 2 had a better flow, and the Warriors' Noelle used a four-ball run-out to finish navigating Marsell's defense to tie the series at 1 against the newest Crown. Marsell had a highlight in game 3, driving the 15 into a cluster that sent the 10 to the bottom right and the 12 to the top left. Noelle faltered late again, allowing Marsell to get a five-ball run-out for the 2-1 series win. Marsell is through to the second round now.
Coca-Cola Field Exhibition Center, Boston: Sweetheart v. Gizmo. The 7-ball drought ends as the blue cue steps up for the game. Game 1 saw a lot of poor shooting, but Boston's Sweetheart cut the 7 to the top side for a 1-0 series lead. In game 2, things were better. The Swifts' Sweetheart had strong possession to hold off Central's Gizmo, making the last five on two turns to take a 2-0 series lead. Sweetheart took game 3 as well, sweeping the Warriors' Gizmo with a four-ball run-out for the 3-0 series win to put her into the second round.
Coca-Cola Field Exhibition Center, Boston: Gradley v. Valencia. The second half of a location doubleheader features the youngest power couple in the league playing 8-ball with the silver cue. Golden's Valencia made up for a slow start by setting up the 8 and burying it on the next turn, taking a 1-0 series lead over her boyfriend, Gradley of Boston. In game 2, the Swifts' Gradley attempted a late rally but came up short, with Valencia tapping in the 8 as the Pilots' superstar takes a 2-0 series lead. Gradley held off the sweep in game 3 by denying Valencia's late rally to make it a 2-1 final for Valencia to advance to round two.
Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Wings v. Acorn. The blue cue is back for more Accuracy. Game 1 was close and competitive, with Lighton's Acorn missing a shot to force overtime. Acorn missed again in overtime, and Pearl's Wings took care of business for a 3-4 win after caroming the 9 off the 12 and the 3 to the bottom side, going up 1-0 in the series. The Surfers' Wings was extremely precise in game 2, with the Prestige's Acorn shooting himself in the foot with mistakes. Wings' 2-4 win put him up 2-0 in the series. Wings used a hot start in game 3 to coast to a 4-6 win for a 3-0 series sweep of Acorn, advancing into the second round with the dominant performance.
AT&T Hall, Oceanside: Snuggle v. Taylor Swift. The blue cue is at the table again for 8-ball. Eastside's Taylor worked a six-ball run, but Oceanside's Snuggle answered with a five-ball run. Snuggle produced a highlight after this, with the Waves' captain missing the 10 to the top side on a bank but the deflection sent the 15 to the same spot on a rebound. The Sharks' Taylor had illegal contact, allowing Snuggle to close out the win for a 1-0 series lead. Taylor started well in game 2 again, but Snuggle navigated a cluttered table to clinch the series at 2-0 on the strong finish. Snuggle completed the sweep in game 3 in an unremarkable game for a 3-0 series win. Snuggle moves on to the second round.
Gillette Center, Swordpoint: Snowball v. J. Garcia. The silver cue is back for 12-ball this time. Snowball of Swordpoint missed contact late in game 1, allowing Garcia of Southridge to run-out final three balls from ball-in-hand, with the help of a wild card ball, for a 1-0 series lead. The Blades' Snowball worked with better set-up shots and positioning in game 2, and Garcia couldn't rally back against Snowball's three-ball run-out to tie the series at 1. Snowball impressed even more in game 3, dazzling with a series of soft cuts during a four-ball run-out to take the series 2-1 over the Defenders' Garcia. Snowball advances to the second round.
Apple Center, Todavía: Sparkles v. Shadow. The silver cue is still playing for Accuracy. Web City's Shadow made two late mistakes, forcing overtime. In the added shots, Todavía's Sparkles miscued, handing Shadow a 1-0 series lead on a 4-5 win. The Spiders' Shadow had a strong start out of the gate in game 2, holding on to win 2-4 over the Stills' Sparkles, which let him clinch at 2-0 in the series. Sparkles prevented a sweep with a 3-5 victory in an average game 3, giving Shadow a 2-1 series win to take into the second round.
Intel Center, Diamond: Cassandra v. Twinkie I. The game is now 7-ball for the silver cue. Diamond's Cassandra had complete control in game 1, working a four-ball run-out for her 1-0 series lead over Lighton's Twinkie I. Cassandra lacked the same dominance in game 2, but the Gems star clinched the series at 2-0 anyway when she got a second chance at the 7 after the Prestige's Twinkie I left it at the top left. Cassandra capped the 3-0 series sweep in game 3, taking a majority of possession by limiting Twinkie I to just one potted ball. Cassandra will play in the second round.
Volkswagen Stadium Events Center, Viewpoint Sound: Zach v. Strut. The blue cue returns to action in 8-ball. Viewpoint Sound's Zach maintained a slight edge throughout the first game, with Golden's Strut never quite overtaking him. Zach took a narrow win for a 1-0 series lead. Game 2 was much more open, and the Meteors' Zach used a three-ball run to pace his attack. The Pilots' Strut came up short and Zach clinched the series at 2-0. Strut did come from behind to salvage a win in game 3, making it a 2-1 series win for Zach, who is through to the second round.
Chevrolet Center, Everton: Puff III v. Jake. The silver cue is back for more 12-ball. Everton's Puff III played staunch defense, but Royal's Jake successfully waited it out before striking for a 1-0 series lead with a big mental win on a tap-in after Puff III vacated her defense. The Eagles' Puff III had a furious rally in game 2 as well, but despite a wild card ball, her bank attempt on the 7 to the top side failed and the Crowns' Jake clinched the series at 2-0 with a simple sequence to finish the game. In game 3, Puff III had a blitz-style offense, pacing her to an easy win that left Jake with a 2-1 series win to take into the second round.
Verizon Field Events Center, Pacific: Jack v. Shelley. The final set of the night is 9-ball with the blue cue. Infinity's Shelley set the early tone with a three-ball run-out, capped by a bottom rail bank of the 9 to the top side to take a 1-0 series lead over Pacific's Jack. The Torpedoes' Shelley proved even more impressive in game 2, with her three-ball run-out featuring two highlights. The first was a bank of the 7 to the top left from the bottom rail, while the second was even better as the 9 fell in the top side from the right rail, giving Shelley the 2-0 series lead. The Volcanoes' Jack got swept by Shelley in game 3, using a 2-9 combination from ball-in-hand to bring the series to its end. Shelley will play in the second round.
