The long week hits its homestretch with this last portion of games. We begin with...
Microsoft Pitch at Del Sur: Fluffina got stopped at 266 after a bounced ball hit the boundary marker, giving Maplewood a workable start. Panda continued to play strong for Southern, ripping 1030 in a very strong opening effort. Bryant swung erratically for the Lumberjacks, taking 313 in the end as the visitors remain far behind. Shannon tapped 208 for the Monarchs to mostly maintain the lead. Diddley jumped at his chance, smacking 764 to pull Maplewood into a slight lead. Kirstin's abominable home efforts resumed this time, as she hit just 51 for Southern, putting them at a minor deficit going into the final players. Cubby went berserk for the Lumberjacks, adding 686 to give them a final of 2029. Nicole had 328 for the Monarchs, but they couldn't overcome a stunning turnaround, falling with 1617. Maplewood gets a critical win to go to 4-5 while dumping Southern at 4-11.
GE Stadium, Southridge: Center Division giants off to slow starts tangle for the first time this season in a Navy Derby match. Chris tallied only 160 for Capital City in a mediocre opening salvo. Boots stopped a ball just before disaster, but its presence threw her off her game, and she scored just 224 for Southridge for a small lead. Missy completely failed in her appearance for the Sharpshooters, swinging and missing to score only 20 points. Debby pulled the Defenders away from the fire by posting 466 and building their lead up a bit. Sprinkles managed 162 for Capital City as the visitors appear to have mailed in this game already. J. Garcia had 352 to extend the Southridge lead. Dani's wild swings netted her 24 for the Sharpshooters, giving them an embarrassing final of 366 in the loss. Shaggy, facing no pressure, had one of her best games of the season, with her 755 capping the Defenders win at 1797. Southridge finally sent their fans home happy, going to 4-9 on their first home win of the year, while Capital City drops to 4-5.
Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: Graham failed to replicate his previous outing, taking just 144 for Eastside this time. Snowball barely gave Swordpoint a lead, with her poor form scoring only 189 in this match. Chelsea accepted 300 for the Sharks despite the offer for a replay, judging that the known quantity is more valuable with the recent run of low scores. Dreamy impressed her home fans with some nifty bat work en route to scoring 640 for the Blades, giving them a better lead. Taylor answered with 384 for Eastside, keeping them competitive. Shawn again built up the Swordpoint lead, tacking on 579 as the game heads to the final players. Niki posted 345 for the Sharks, but this left them short at 1173, taking a competitive loss. Stealth iced the Blades win at 1704 with 296 individually. Swordpoint remains perfect at home, and they now stand at 10-2 in second place league-wide as winners of seven in a row, while Eastside sputters to 4-5.
Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: After a thrilling road victory in last week's finale, the Knights aim for a season sweep over the high-offense Shores. Bear started off with 336 for Whitewater, likely indicating a lower-scoring affair this time around. Kiwi's recent struggles continue as she hits only 162 for Terrace City. Twinkie III added 520 for the Shores, keeping them in firm control against their division rival. Jennifer had only 122 for the Knights, sounding panic alarms across their fan territory. Cheddar scored a modest 224 to keep Whitewater on top. Oreo rocked 420 for Terrace City, attempting to cut into the deficit. Wild Thing's 209 brought the Shores to a final of 1289, far from secure in this crazy battle between heated rivals. Stripes ended with 272 for the Knights, and they take their first home loss with 976. Whitewater is up to 5-7 after a slow start, while Terrace City is proving a streaky expansion team, losing their last four after winning nine straight to be at 9-4.
Apple Park, Todavía: The Shores get a doubleheader on their schedule, traveling to the coastal southwest for the second game. Bear set a big tone for Whitewater, crushing 1942 to give them a massive lead at the start. Easter tried to play big, but swung too hard and ended up with 48 for Todavía, who are resigned to likely losing this game. Twinkie III extended the Shores lead by scoring 603 in a very good effort of her own. Sierra tapped 33 as the Stills get farther behind and defeated by their own intensity. Cheddar tacked on 274 for Whitewater, as they don't really need much more big offense. Leonardo's 96, somewhat sadly, more than doubled Todavía's score heading into the final players in a terribly lopsided game. Wild Thing struck 240 for the Shores, ending their calm and composed efforts at 3059. Sparkles had just 82 to give the Stills 259 in a shockingly brutal beatdown. Whitewater appears to be back in form now, going to 6-7, now just a game back of the 7-6 Todavía side.
Cisco Tysini Field, Tysini: Western rivals prepare to challenge each other in a division meeting. Panda's voracious swing ended up causing Southern trouble, as his turn ended at only 108. Princess went for 720 for Tysini, giving them a sizable lead early in the game. Shannon answered with 522 for the Monarchs, cutting into the deficit well. Leandra got cut down at 90 for the Hummingbirds due to a bad bounce, making the game a lot closer at the halfway mark. Kirstin edged Southern just slightly ahead with her 249-point effort. Charli kept things close, producing just 119 for Tysini. Nicole poked 168 for the Monarchs, giving them a highly vulnerable final score of 1047. Bright popped up 144 for the Hummingbirds, but 1073 proved to be just barely enough for them to take a victory. Tysini had to grind this one out, but they remain perfect at home and improve to 9-2, while Southern is 4-12 at the quarter pole, skidding to a five-game losing streak now.
Sprint Pitch, Victoria: A bad road team meets the worst home team, where something will have to give. A sloppy game could ensue. Smokey did nothing to dispel that notion, with a measly 128 for Diamond to open the scoring. Spice pummeled 926 for Victoria, giving them a solid lead at the start. Citrus took only 160 for the Gems, as the game gets farther out of hand for the visitors. B. Chapman tacked on 417 for the Spurs, extending their lead well. Pedey fired back with 384 for Diamond, mitigating some of the damage. Yekaterina got jammed at 81 for Victoria, but the lead appears fairly safe for now. Cassandra put in a formidable challenge for the Gems, scoring 392, but it ultimately left them short at 1064. Kavan chipped 114 to ice the Spurs win at 1538. Victoria gets the elusive first home win of the season in their new building, improving to 4-11, while dragging Diamond down to 4-7.
Volkswagen Stadium, Viewpoint Sound: Another West Division battle marks the sixtieth divisional game of the season. Starlight belted 1064 for Pacific in a huge opening effort. Mr. Snowman took a respectable 351 back for Viewpoint Sound, getting the game off to an exciting start. Ms. Kitty got tangled up and scored just 131 for the Volcanoes. Mams did virtually the same, hitting a ball backwards accidentally, to take a meager 51 for the Meteors. Jack went low when a ball bounced high, and he contributed 196 for the Pacific lead, keeping things a bit tense. Zach managed only 160 for Viewpoint Sound, keeping them buried in the game. Leonette pulled in 338 for the Volcanoes, giving them a final of 1729 in a likely victory. Kelly closed a lot of the gap with 701 for the Meteors, but they lost with 1263. Pacific's big win puts them at 9-5, while Viewpoint Sound drops to 3-8.
Home Depot Forum, Web City: Acorn got victimized by a bad bounce on his turn, ending up with 110 for Lighton in a poor start. Shadow answered with 162 for Web City, giving them a small lead. Spirit could only produce 112 for the Prestige, doing little to help the visitors cause. Rainmane gave the Spiders a more solid lead with 404. Twinkie I shot back with 536 for Lighton, giving them another chance to compete in the game. Sugar's 153 left Web City at a deficit, with a highly-charged bout between the final players ahead. Lydia's 207 did not secure the game for the Prestige, as they closed with a score of 965 in a mediocre effort. Shiny's 211 proved insufficient for the Spiders, and they took a loss with 930. The close game sees Lighton go to 6-5, while Web City is floundering at 2-8, riding a five-game losing streak.
BMW RockDome, Westside: Delila unleashed 1054 at the start for Atlantic, setting a strong tone early in the game. Misty had a weak answer for Westside, scoring a meager 80 points to put them in a deep hole. Amber chipped 160 for the Pirates, aiming to maintain their significant lead. Goatee caught one with the back of her bat, popping it up into the air to end her turn at 361 for the Rockers, cutting into the deficit slightly. Americus fired back with 465 for Atlantic, keeping their lead firm as the game enters its late stages. Midnight put up an average 263 for Westside, watching the game slip away from them a little more. Dominic tacked on 320 for the Pirates, and they partied like it's 1999, their score, in the end. Chicky Phil made his presence known, rallying to knock 858 for the Rockers, but they still took a loss with 1562. Atlantic is back to their winning ways at 9-8, while Westside drops to 3-5.
Samsung Whitewater Stadium, Whitewater: The Center Division gets the final game of the week, featuring two of its middling teams. Crystal avoided disaster with a mind-bending backhand flick to prolong her turn, eventually ending with 302 for Queens. Bear, impressively, hit an even 1000 for Whitewater to take a strong lead early in the game. Kayla made a good impression in striking 503 for the Flames, giving them a decent chance. Twinkie III answered back with 373 for the Shores, maintaining their lead well. Max put Queens in trouble, with his attempted double-hit backfiring to end his turn at just 25 points. Cheddar couldn't pull off a backhand redirect, ending her turn at 113 for Whitewater as they take a strong lead into the final players. Paige had a wild run, slapping 447 for the Flames, but they took the loss with 1277 total. Wild Thing's 192 put the Shores at 1678 in the win, a very resilient score. Whitewater finally gets to even at 7-7, while Queens is 4-8, with their 0-4 division record holding them back most.
Thanks for your patience. Hopefully, week 7 will arrive more on time.
