UPCL Cricket: Week 7 Part 2

Here's the middle section for the seventh week of the season. We begin with a rivalry match at...

Mercedes-Benz Field, Harrison: Northeastern teams get set for battle, with the Specters eyeing to cool the Warriors for a season sweep. Twilight had a wonderful start for Central, blasting 1177 to give them a massive lead early. Slinks got about half of it back with 583 for Harrison, a solid appearance in its own right. Dustin had a weak showing for the Warriors, grabbing only 152. Twinkie II ripped 683 for the Specters, making it a very close game at the halfway point. Noelle put together 252 for Central, but that still leaves them vulnerable as the scoring depth for the visitors seems to have disappeared this week. Harrison's offense showed much more balance, as Sydney tacked on 726 to give them a late lead. Gizmo lined 742 for the Warriors, forcing a response as they finish with 2323. Brownie couldn't do it, taking just 204 for the Specters, who fell with 2196. Central grinds out a huge division win and keeps their strong run alive at 11-4, with a six-game road winning streak and six-game overall winning streak, while Harrison has fallen below the level at 8-9.

Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: The busy Torpedoes head home for a game, trying to snap a six-game home losing streak. Bear popped 215 in a mediocre start for Whitewater. Smudge's high heat at home continued for a third week, as she drilled 958 to give Infinity a sizable lead. Twinkie III waited too long to try to pull a ball off the stumps, and it ended up ending her turn at 407 for the Shores. Shelley doubled down for the Torpedoes, clobbering 977 to extend their lead in a big way. Cheddar had another middling appearance for Whitewater, this time grabbing 290 in a futile effort to shrink the deficit. Gabe posted 368 to solidify the Infinity lead heading into the final players. Wild Thing did decently to take 339 for the Shores, but they got brutally defeated at 1251. Whiskers capped the Torpedoes' first home win of the season with 287 to give them 2590 total. Infinity improves to 3-11, while Whitewater slides to 7-8.

Pepsi Prestige Park, Lighton: The battle between two proud West teams currently sitting in the middle of the pack gets going in this match. Easter struggled in lead off for Todavía, getting a 66 overturned for optional replay after technical error, only to officially score 80, a mediocre effort. Acorn sliced 384 for Lighton, giving them a decent lead early in the game. Sierra scored just 192 for the Stills, putting them in significant trouble. Her sister, Spirit, answered with 783 for the Prestige, gaining a lot of momentum from her desperation flick of a ball to the back 4s to extend her turn. Leonardo churned out 627 for Todavía, drastically cutting into the deficit. Twinkie I left Lighton vulnerable by taking a meager 84 in this game. Sparkles lined 520 for the Stills, giving them a final of 1419, which will force a response from the hosts. Lydia, as she has often done this seen, made that response with 345 to give the Prestige 1596 in the win. Lighton is up to 7-6 now, while Todavía slips behind them at 7-7.

UPS Ground, Maplewood: Snowball claimed 185 for Swordpoint in a difficult appearance. Fluffina set a big tone for Maplewood, cranking out 838 to give them a very strong lead early in the game. Dreamy produced a respectable 328 for the Blades, but they still face a significant deficit in the game. Bryant extended the Lumberjacks lead with a very strong 658, and they have significant control in the game at the halfway point. Shawn completely bumbled his turn, scoring a meager 28 for Swordpoint as the game gets out of reach. Diddley failed to clear a slow-rolling ball from behind his bat, and it eventually caused him to end his turn with 532 for Maplewood, padding the lead a little more. Stealth attempted a raucous comeback for the Blades, rallying for 1047, but they still lost with 1588. Cubby capped the Lumberjacks win with an extra 344 to put them at 2372 overall. Maplewood's big win sends them to 5-5, while Swordpoint's seven-game win streak is snapped as they fall to 10-3.

Google Pitch at Union Ground, Modernistic: Goldy launched 844 to stake out a huge lead for Everton early in the game. Juno answered with 392 for Modernistic, cutting the deficit by about half. The Eagles got only 136 from Puff III, destabilizing their lead a bit. A very luck bounce off of a dead ball on the pitch to the back 6s kept Ms. Puppy's turn alive long enough for her to drag the Union into the lead, blasting 1113 to flip the script for the game. Cleo did not cover the whole deficit, grabbing 314 to help Everton get back in the game. Chimpy put up a middling 224 for Modernistic, enough to maintain the lead heading into the final players. Blizzard lined 536 for the Eagles, forcing a response from their hosts as the visitors close with 1830 total. Puff I suffered a poor turn at the worst time, and the Union dropped the game with 1816 as she managed just 87 points individually. Everton escapes the big city with a win to stay atop the lead at 11-1, while Modernistic is down to 6-6.

AT&T Oceanside Stadium, Oceanside: Boston got off to a very strong start, as Patches slapped 702 for Boston to take the early lead. Snuggle fired back with 543 for Oceanside, closing the gap significantly to keep things close. Puff II made another massive road effort, slugging 1366 to extend the Swifts lead to a massive level. Bells dragged a ball to her stumps, causing the Waves to lose a lot of ground with her contribution of 102 points. Gradley tacked on another 538 for Boston, keeping them firmly in control. Alyssa got most of that back with her 527 for Oceanside, keeping the deficit level. Sweetheart poked 72 for the Swifts, giving them a final of 2678 in a likely win. Pounce took 277 to give the Waves 1449 in the loss. Boston keeps their head above water with the win, going to 11-7, while Oceanside drops to 4-6.

Verizon Field, Pacific: Two heavyweights in the West Division meet to draw some battle lines for the first time this season. Snowball cranked out 554 to get Swordpoint off to a decent start. Starlight got a lot of it back, but had to end at 472 for Pacific after a technical error. Dreamy demolished 1116 for the Blades, extending their lead to a much stronger level. Ms. Kitty managed to get 272 back for the Volcanoes, but they face a steep deficit at this point. Shawn posted an extra 510 for Swordpoint, solidifying their lead as the game enters its late stages. Jack got called for a mandatory replay, and ended up faltering with just 146 for Pacific on the second attempt. Stealth got stuck in a bad position, taking a meager 14 for the Blades to give them a final of 2194. Leonette made a furious comeback effort for the Volcanoes, but her 954 still left them short at 1844. Swordpoint stands in third place at 11-3, while Pacific is 9-6 as the division games continue to be coin flips.

Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Sally had a reasonable 374 for Archtown to get the game started. Watermelon sliced 568 for Pearl, giving them the initial lead early in the game. Sleepy B. replied with a very solid 495 for the Arrows, keeping things energetic and competitive near the halfway point. Neopolitan had 279 for the Surfers, allowing them to fall behind slightly. Ruby faltered with just 96 for Archtown, leaving their lead very vulnerable. Wings took advantage of the opportunity, lining 395 for Pearl to regain the lead heading into the final players. Dusky scored 385 for the Arrows, forcing the hosts to respond as the visitors end with 1350 total. Cowzart does enough to give the Surfers a win, with his 334 putting them at 1576. Pearl's big win moves them into a tie for third at 11-3, while Archtown remains winless on the road at 0-4, with an overall record of 5-6.

Tridents Park sponsored by Ford, Pronger: Two Eastern Hills teams get set for a division battle to get them back on track. Graham chopped 399 for Eastside in a confident appearance for the captain. Strawberry overextended herself making a stop on her backhand, allowing the next ball to end her turn at 178 for Pronger. Chelsea pounded 624 to add onto the Sharks lead in convincing form. Hoot recovered some of the deficit, lining 434 for the Tridents, but they are still well behind. Taylor completely nullified Hoot's efforts by scoring 431 herself for Eastside. Precious let Pronger slip again with only 288, making a comeback more unlikely. Niki hauled in 711 for the Sharks, giving them a final score of 2165. Paps got fooled by a sinking ball, swinging and missing to end up with 80 for the Tridents, as they lost with 980 total. Eastside's win gets them to 5-6 on their first division win, while Pronger is now 0-6 in division games and 3-9 overall, riding a five game losing streak.

Ebay Center, Queens: The Tridents play a second game in a row, but outside of the division now. Strawberry swatted 487 for Pronger in a confident appearance. Crystal managed to shrug one deflect ball to the back 4s, but the next one dipped under her bat, ending her turn at 74 for Queens. Hoot knocked another 448 for the Tridents, adding onto the lead. Kayla covered a lot of that second wave of damage with 417 for the Flames, keeping them in striking distance. Precious kept Pronger consistent, tacking on 488 for the visitors. Max fired back with 609 for Queens, cutting into the deficit slightly. Paps managed 209 in a weak effort for the Tridents, putting them at 1632 total. Paige tried to play too hard for the Flames, ending up with 119 to give them a losing score of 1219. Pronger gets a much needed win to get to 4-9, while moving Queens down to the same mark.

Kraft Crowns Park, Royal: The final game of this segment is a Center Division battle. Bear struck 840 for Whitewater right off the bat in a grand opening attack. Frosty answered with a big 608 for Royal, her best home effort this season. Twinkie III added 240 for the Shores, leaving them potentially vulnerable. Jake made a small cut into the deficit with 297 for the Crowns. Cheddar's soft tap took a very slight deflection out of bounds, and she hit only 110 for Whitewater, creating more vulnerability. Marsell ripped 989 for Royal, giving them a significant lead late in the game. Wild Thing played poorly for the Shores, scoring just 48 to give them a loss at 1238. Nightfur also struggled, tapping 28 to seal the Crowns victory at 1922. Royal gets a division win to move to 4-5, while Whitewater drops to 7-9 a quarter of the way through their season.

I hope to have segment three of this week published late tonight, but no promises if time gets a bit short.
