UPCL Cricket: Week 8 Part 2

We're back with more games as the season approaches its quarter-completion mark. This chunk of the week starts with...

Mercedes-Benz Field, Harrison: The Union beat the Specters at home, and they look for the sweep against the worse home team in the league in this game. Juno got Modernistic off on the wrong foot, taking a measly 20 points. Slinks posted 760 for Harrison, letting the ball take out her wicket to avoid a replay, which puts the hosts in front for once. The Union got 470 back from Ms. Puppy, who wasted little time with the bat. Twinkie II let the lead shrink a bit, producing 256 for the Specters. Chimpy failed to keep Modernistic going in the right direction, taking only 80 points as the game gets away from them. Sydney grabbed 661 for Harrison, likely securing the lead late in the game. Puff I managed 312 this time, but the Union lost with 882. Brownie struck 566 to cap the Specters win 2243. Harrison's second home win of the season earns them a season split and pulls them to 9-10 overall, while Modernistic's three game losing streak puts them at 6-7.

Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: Smokey wasted little time in establishing a decent lead for Diamond, scoring 943 in a strong opening performance. Smudge, a former Gem herself, answered with 705 for Infinity, keeping the game competitive in the early going. Citrus answered with 503 for the Gems, keeping them in control of the game. Shelley couldn't keep up for the Torpedoes, taking just 51 as they fall farther behind. Pedey grabbed 266 for Diamond, maintaining their lead sufficiently. Gabe was only able to reclaim 277 for Infinity, as they still face a tall order heading into the final players. Cassandra pulled in 329 for the Gems, and they finished at 2041 total. Whiskers couldn't overcome a hideous start, skying a ball to score a measly 11 as the Torpedoes lost with 1044. Diamond stands at 6-9, while Infinity's momentum halts with their slide to 3-12.

Pepsi Prestige Park, Lighton: The Crowns seek a season sweep on the Prestige, but will have to complete the task on the road. Frosty had a poor showing for Royal, picking up only 24 points. Acorn didn't do much better, grabbing only 37 after getting completely fooled on an arcing ball. Jake gave the Crowns what they needed, slicing 560 to give them a confident lead. Spirit answered with 439 for the Prestige, keeping them close in the game. Marsell slapped 713 for Royal, solidifying their lead as the game approaches its late stages. Twinkie I let a backhand attempt get away, poking it out of bounds to end her turn at 217 for Lighton. Nightfur grabbed 264 in a shaky appearance, putting the Crowns at 1561. Lydia rallied furiously for the Prestige, snatching 568, but they still took the loss with 1261. Royal claims the season sweep, jumping to 5-6, while Lighton drops to 8-7 with the loss.

UPS Ground, Maplewood: Misty lined 713 for Westside to give them a good start. Fluffina pulled in 260 for Maplewood in an average showing. Goatee matched that with 259 for the Rockers, keeping the visitors in control. Bryant knocked 523 for the Lumberjacks, drastically shrinking the deficit at the halfway mark of the game. Midnight tallied 577 to restore the lead for Westside heading into the back half of the game. Diddley struggled to get into a rhythm, twice using backhands to preserve a low-pace appearance, which garnered 257 for Maplewood. Chicky Phil did get twisted around on a bad swing, but he scored 504 to give the Rockers a final of 2053 in an impressive road effort. Cubby put up a furious rally for the Lumberjacks, but his 796 still left them short at 1836. Westside gets a critical win to go to 4-6, while Maplewood's four-game winning streak is cut down as they fall to 6-6.

Google Pitch at Union Ground, Modernistic: The Union look to seal a season sweep on home turf in their blue uniforms. Spice smashed 873 for Victoria to get them going in the right direction early on. Juno answered with 490 for Modernistic, keeping things somewhat competitive. The Spurs stayed strong on 537 from B. Chapman. Ms. Puppy faltered with 84 for the Union, as they face a difficult challenge in this game. Yekaterina collected 224 for Victoria, saving her turn with a strong backhand and turn play. Chimpy failed to capitalize for Modernistic, taking just 108 as they continue to trail by a large margin. Kavan managed 115 to give the Spurs 1749 total. Puff I blasted 1037 for the Union, only to see them come up narrowly short at 1719, taking a brutal loss. Victoria's road form continues to carry them up to 5-12, while the loss gets Modernistic to 6-8, riding a four-game losing streak that may crush their morale.

AT&T Oceanside Stadium, Oceanside: Two huge Coastal region rivals battle for regional supremacy and bragging rights. Watermelon gave Pearl a confident start, slicing 654. Snuggle couldn't cover the deficit, scoring only 208 for Oceanside. Neopolitan supplemented the Surfers lead by rocking 785, giving them a very comfortable advantage. Bells received a replay after a technical malfunction, but she wasted her second chance, scoring a measly 24 for the Waves. Wings kept the momentum up for Pearl, scoring 760 after an impressive desperation flick on his backhand to put a ball in the back 6s and extend his appearance. Alyssa grabbed 527 in an attempt to keep Oceanside alive in the game. Cowzart provided a steady finish for the Surfers, pounding 1016 to give them 3215 overall. Pounce's 272 gave the Waves a losing final of 1031. Pearl gets the big rivalry win, their fifth straight road triumph putting them at 12-3, with a 4-0 division mark, while Oceanside falls to 5-7.

Verizon Field, Pacific: Another West Division battle is underway a little bit down the coast. Panda continues to slip on the road, this time taking a meager 48 for Southern. Starlight swatted 576 for Pacific to give them a decent lead. Shannon shot back with 471 for the Monarchs, keeping them within range. Ms. Kitty left the Volcanoes vulnerable, wrangling only 21 on a disappointing turn. Kirstin launched 829 for Southern, cashing in on a golden opportunity to make the hosts pay for a mistake. Jack misplayed an odd bounce, producing a weak 28 for Pacific, leaving them in dire trouble late in the game. Nicole added only 57 to the Monarchs lead, but they finish with 1405 in an advantageous position. Leonette tried to save it with a sliding spike play, but the ball got too little of the bat, and she ended at 384, giving the Volcanoes only 1009 in the loss. Southern gets a surprise win to go to 5-13, snapping a six-game losing streak, while the inconsistent Pacific side drops to 10-7.

Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Frosty batted 380 to lead off for Royal, a respectable start for the visitors. Watermelon kept things close with 352 for Pearl, making things very competitive early on. Jake answered with a crisp 434 for the Crowns, continuing to give the game a decent pace. Neopolitan made it a little more tight for the Surfers, striking 439 to tighten the game ever so slightly. Marsell screwed up a good thing for Royal, taking just 105 to leave them vulnerable heading into the later parts of the game. Wings chipped 273 to give Pearl a leading with a player each to go, but nothing is set in stone yet. Nightfur found a convenient groove near the end of her turn, allowing her to rack up 600 for the Crowns, leaving them at 1519 overall. Cowzart couldn't settle in for the Surfers, posting only 80 points as they took the loss with 1144. Royal looks to be putting it all together now at 6-6, while Pearl slips to third in the league at 12-4, crossing their quarter pole.

Tridents Park sponsored by Ford, Pronger: Bear slumped to 162 for Whitewater, giving them a weak opening attack. Strawberry led Pronger in a blitz maneuver, blasting 1089 to give them a very good lead at the start. Twinkie III managed 214 for the Shores, but they still trail significantly. Hoot put up 144 for the Tridents after a premature swing brought his turn to a close. Cheddar got beat with a ball that just missed the back side of her bat, as Whitewater's usually reliable slapper took a meager 98 this time around in a sloppy game. Precious went to great lengths to solidify the Pronger lead, smashing 1143 to likely secure the victory. The Shores showed little fight in this one, as Wild Thing's 217 put them at a loss with 691. Paps kept it simple in tapping 90 to seal the Tridents win with 2466 total. Pronger gets a much-needed win to jump to 5-9, while Whitewater slides to 7-11 in a poor season.

Ebay Center, Queens: Southeastern rivals get a big chance to prove themselves with a divisional game. Patches stumbled after gambling on a bounce play, ending up with 166 for Boston in a middling opener. Crystal lifted 260 to give Queens a modest lead at the start. Puff II fell off her recent pace a bit, but her 289 gives the Swifts another shot at a modest lead. Kayla had only 128 for the Flames, and they now trail ever so slightly at the halfway point. Gradley did some heavy lifting for Boston, ripping 580 to give them a decent lead. Max dug in and got 400 back for Queens in a bold appearance. Sweetheart left room for doubt, scoring 145 for the Swifts to put them at a final of 1180. Paige couldn't recover it all, scoring 208 to leave the Flames short at 996. Boston jumps to 13-7 with their sixth straight road win, while Queens is 4-11, and 0-5 in the division.

Kraft Crowns Park, Royal: After meeting earlier in the week, the teams wrap up their season series, with the Sharks seeking the sweep. Graham led off with 687 for Eastside, giving them a very formidable position. Frosty replied with 504 for Royal, keeping things close early on. Chelsea fired back with another 566 for the Sharks, who are running a high-octane offense right now. Jake fought back with 631 for the Crowns, slightly shrinking the deficit with a positive outing. Taylor cranked out 636 to keep Eastside in charge, once again pressuring the hosts. Marsell slipped up with 289 for Royal, putting them more definitively behind. Niki tapped 211 to give the Sharks a final of 2100. Nightfur slugged 659 for the Crowns, but coughed up the game, with the team's final resting at 2083. Eastside takes the season sweep with a narrow road win to get to 7-6 while Royal drops to 6-7.

Part 3 is scheduled for tomorrow night.
