The middle section of games starts here, with...
Mercedes-Benz Field, Harrison: Snowball managed only 144 for Swordpoint to open the segment. Slinks didn't do much better for Harrison, claiming only 244 for the marginal lead early on. Dreamy lined 770 for the Blades, giving them a decent lead. Twinkie II struggled to get good position on her swings, ending at 130 for the Specters. Shawn added a modest 264 for Swordpoint, hoping to maintain their lead. Sydney fired back with 454 for Harrison, cutting into the deficit with her strong showing. Stealth launched 560 to get the Blades into their Fetty Wap routine at 1738 overall. Brownie carved out 416 for the Specters, but they continue to be cursed at home, losing with 1244. Swordpoint moves up to 9-2, working their winning run to six games, while Harrison drops to a level 7-7 record.
Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: The Torpedoes' only win came against these Pilots in week 2 in Golden. The Torpedoes are looking for a season sweep to buck their deep slump. Playing their third game in the last four league games, Valencia paces Golden's attack with 618, showing no signs of fatigue. Smudge made sure to call before she dug into her sister's team, pounding out 811 to give Infinity a lead. Dusty couldn't cover the deficit for the Pilots, taking only 176. Shelley added 594 for the Torpedoes, increasing their lead well. Strut answered with 580 for Golden, to keep them in a competitive position as time begins to get short. Gabe bungled his turn, scoring a meager 97 for Infinity, which leaves them vulnerable heading into the final players. A. Charlton stepped up for the Pilots and teed up 891 to give them a final of 2265. A deflection ended Whiskers' turn early at 25 points for the Torpedoes, sealing their loss at 1527. Golden needed a huge effort in the end to split the season series, improving to 9-6 as a team now, while Infinity is 1-10 with a seven-game losing streak.
Pepsi Prestige Park, Lighton: The Pilots continue an insane run of games, making the short trip north to Lighton for their fourth game in the last five league games. Valencia regressed a bit, posting 339 for Golden to give them a still-decent start. Acorn fired back with a blitzkrieg attack, knocking 809 for Lighton to take a large lead. Dusty managed 245 for the Pilots, but they face a significant challenge for this game. Spirit swung 439 to extend the Prestige lead in one of their better efforts so far. Strut kept the game far from over, ripping 674 for Golden to keep them in striking distance. Twinkie I countered with 780 for Lighton, preserving their lead very effectively. A. Charlton continues to improve with the busy schedule, this time blasting 987 for the Pilots to end with 2245. Lydia kept it simple in lifting the Prestige to a narrow victory, using 264 individually for 2290 total. Lighton ended a losing skid to get to 5-5, while Golden's winning ways were halted and they regressed to 9-7.
UPS Ground, Maplewood: The Knights' long road trip takes them to a third straight Northeast team, which have so far caused them problems. Kiwi again faltered for Terrace City, with just 144 to begin the game. Fluffina lived up to the nickname of Breakfast, starting Maplewood's day off right with 1708 to establish a huge lead. Jennifer put a small dent in the deficit, scoring 369 for the Knights. Bryant chopped 149 for the Lumberjacks, but they still have a stranglehold on the game at the halfway mark. Oreo gave Terrace City a big 810, keeping them alive in the game by the slimmest of margins. Diddley threw out a stiff-arm with 450 for Maplewood, preserving their lead. Stripes got shut down at 58 for the Knights, giving them a losing final of 1381. Cubby chipped 122 for the Lumberjacks to bring them to 2429 in the win. Maplewood stands at 3-5, while Terrace City slides to 9-3, plummeting through the standings after a big start.
Google Pitch at Union Ground, Modernistic: Crystal got stopped at 467 for Queens to begin the Center Division battle, ending when a ball skidded off her backhand into the stumps. Juno kept things close, scoring 429 for Modernistic. Kayla took a bad angle for the Flames, hitting only 225 for the Flames as they become very vulnerable. Ms. Puppy produced 256 for the Union, making it even closer at the halfway point for the game. Max posted 338 for Queens, giving them a reasonable lead. Modernistic got 311 out of Chimpy, falling a little more behind in the extremely close game. Paige sliced 329 for the Flames, giving them a final score of 1359, which is far from a secure lead. Puff I stepped up with 439 for the Union, giving them the win at 1435 in a thrilling finish. Modernistic gets a big division win to go to 6-4, while pushing the Flames back to 3-7.
AT&T Oceanside Stadium, Oceanside: Graham belted 1189 for Eastside to get things going. Snuggle only had 247 in response for Oceanside, digging them an early hole. Chelsea tapped 111 for the Sharks, a weak addition to their lead. Bells cut into the deficit significantly, producing 540 for the Waves to make it a more competitive match. Taylor allowed Eastside's lead to crack a little bit more when she had just 180 to contribute to the visitors efforts. Alyssa pushed Oceanside a little more, giving them 328 to put them within striking range as the final players step up to bat. Niki removed the threat of being overtaken by demolishing 1343 for the Sharks, giving them a likely unassailable final score of 2823. Pounce's big swings cost him when he ended at 82 for the Waves, taking a loss with 1197 overall. Eastside showed up big time to get to 4-4, passing the now 4-5 Oceanside squad.
Verizon Field, Pacific: The Oceanic Derby gets another installment in this battle between early second-tier teams. Delila continued her strong form for Atlantic, leading off with 794 to set a high-scoring tone to the game. Starlight did not have a sufficient response with 64, as Pacific will start from way back. Amber didn't do much to inspire confidence for the Pirates, hitting 144 to maintain the lead. Ms. Kitty did well with a poor pitch to haul in 777 for the Volcanoes, making the game close at the halfway mark. Americus also contributed just 144 for Atlantic, putting them in significant danger at this point. Jack struck 456 for Pacific, flipping the lead to favor the hosts late in the game. Dominic put up 274 for the Pirates, forcing the hosts to respond as the Pirates close at 1356. Leonette poked 72 for the Volcanoes, eking out a win with 1369 for the Volcanoes. Pacific's gritty victory gets them to 8-5, while Atlantic has lost five straight to get to 8-8.
Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Top teams are meeting again as the Tradewinds look for a season sweep of the Surfers. Tigerette struck 343 for Commerce to begin the game. Watermelon dealt with a high-arching ball, but couldn't get the subsequent offering under control, leading to her poor performance of 16 points for Pearl. Ice Cream opted for an optional replay after a technical error, but she ended up leaving points on the table by hitting only 103 for the Tradewinds. Her sister Neopolitan received the same opportunity, but the Surfers star cashed in with 842 to give the hosts a nice lead. Lionel shot back with 542 for Commerce, keeping things competitive. Wings got most of it back with 506 for Pearl, maintaining their tenuous lead. Lorde forced a response by spiking 564 for the Tradewinds, giving them a final of 1552. Cowzart failed to cover the deficit, and his 152 cost the Surfers the game as they came up short at 1517. Commerce, already passing the quarter mark of the season, stands at 12-5, while Pearl fell to 9-3, which stands at a tie for fourth currently.
Tridents Park sponsored by Ford, Pronger: Twilight handled two difficult offerings, but she needed a bit more on the third, ending at 319 for Central. Strawberry unleashed 826 in response for Pronger, their best start of the season. Dustin shot back with 391 for the Warriors, putting a dent into the deficit. Hoot got unlucky to see his turn end on a bad bounce that he had nothing to do with, scoring only 36 for the Tridents as the game tightens halfway done. Noelle blew the lid off the Central offense, lining 678 to give them a confident lead. Another crooked bounce felled Pronger's Precious, who scored 271 before being halted, leaving the hosts in a troublesome spot. Gizmo didn't clear anything up, taking only 177 for the Warriors, who end with 1565. Paps failed to take advantage, stalling out at 256 for the Tridents, who suffered another loss at 1389. Central is 9-4, with a five-game road winning streak and four-game overall run of good play, while Pronger's 3-8 mark sees them 0-5 in the division and losers of their last four.
Ebay Center, Queens: The Flames look to complete a season sweep on home soil after doing the popular activity of beating the Specters in their own place. Slinks found herself out of form on the road for once, hitting just 49 for Harrison. Crystal batted 367 for Queens to stake out a reasonable lead early on. Twinkie II smacked 640 for the Specters, producing a modest lead of their own. Kayla bumbled to 192 for the Flames, putting them behind at the halfway mark. Sydney posted another 418 for Harrison, extending the lead effectively. Max got some back with his strong 497 for Queens, making the game a little more interesting as it approaches the finish. Brownie got a bit overzealous, hitting too hard to end with 160 personally and 1267 for the team's final score. Paige's 270 for the Flames proved to be a successful counter, and they won with 1326. Queens jumps to 4-7, while Harrison falls to 7-8, working on a three-game losing skid.
Kraft Crowns Park, Royal: Segment two for week six ends with the Crowns seeking a season sweep over the hapless Spurs. Spice had a middling start for Victoria, scoring 247. Frosty, whose home struggles are well-documented, had a weak 187 for Royal. This is, somewhat sadly, her second highest home effort so far this season. The Spurs saw they had a lead, and B. Chapman multiplied it with a massive effort, posting 1173. Jake shook things up with 605 for the Crowns, giving them a fighting chance. Yekaterina's road slump continued for a third game, where she had just 230 to create some vulnerability for Victoria. Marsell did not capitalize for Royal, taking a measly 80 points. Kavan tacked on 500 for the Spurs, giving them a total of 2150 in a likely win. Nightfur had a nice comeback effort with 401, but the 1273 final for the Crowns was well short of the mark. Victoria is up to 3-11, while Royal's four-game losing streak sees them to 3-5.
Tomorrow should see the third segment, as the UPCL works to come back from a difficult week for scheduling.
