UPCL Cricket: Week 7 Part 1

The league returns to action amid a huge spike in viewership. Whoever produced 400 views in a single day, thank you for the dedication.

Starbucks Cup, Archtown: Eastern rivals in the midst of bounce-back seasons get a division game to prove themselves. Jasmine got week seven off to a wonderful start with 1071 for Freedom, setting a high-scoring tone early on. Sally struggled to both develop and maintain a rhythm, scoring 280 for Archtown. Stinky cancelled it out with 319 for the Cascades. Sleepy B. got some back with 371 for the Arrows, but they remain far behind. Roxy ripped another 795 for Freedom. Ruby countered with 631 to keep Archtown holding on by a very thin thread. Nikolai put up 517 for the Cascades, giving them a final of 2702. Dusky closed down a lot of space by cobbling together 998, but the Arrows still took a loss at 2280. Freedom's big road win, long a struggle for them, puts them at 8-5, with a perfect 4-0 division mark, while Archtown is even at 5-5.

McDonald's Pitch at Pirates Park, Atlantic: After taking care of business at home, the Surfers aim for a season sweep on the exhausted Pirates. Watermelon churned out 570 to give Pearl a strong start. Delila played relatively well, getting 416 back for Atlantic in a good appearance. Neopolitan didn't have the best showing, adding 256 for the Surfers. Amber chopped 456 for the Pirates to give them a narrow lead at the halfway point. Wings gave Pearl a huge boost, rocking 961 to restore a sizable lead for them. Americus kept Atlantic within striking distance, supplying them with 664 to mitigate the previous attack. Cowzart added 503 for the Surfers, giving them a final of 2290. Dominic couldn't clear an early deflection, ending at 32 as the Pirates lost with 1568. Pearl takes a big win to move up to 10-3, while Atlantic's definitely out of steam and plugging along at 9-9.

Coca-Cola Field, Boston: Shadow led off with 503 for Web City, a good opening offensive move. Patches gave Boston a slight lead, eclipsing Shadow's efforts by scoring 594 on her own turn. Rainmane kept the Spiders in a strong position, giving them the lead back at least temporarily with 481. Puff II extended the Swifts lead with 682 of her own in a wonderful counterattack. Sugar faltered with 51 for Web City, putting them in a deep deficit. Gradley's impressive bat work is the only thing that saved him from total embarrassment, but his 105 for Boston is not much to be proud of despite maintaining the lead. Shiny's 36 gave the Spiders only 1071, as scoring depth continues to haunt the visitors. Sweetheart tapped 276 to give the Swifts a winning total of 1657. Boston continues to be above-average at 10-7, while Web City is 2-9, both behind pace and very weak.

Capital City SuperCenter: After winning at home, the Knights look to overcome recent struggles with a season sweep of a Center Division rival. Kiwi continues to appear rattled, scoring only 231 for Terrace City in this game. Chris failed to cover the small deficit, taking a meager 167 for Capital City. An emerging trend is players swinging too hard early in their appearances, which has plagued games for over a week now. Jennifer helped the Knights by swinging 441 to give them a more stable lead. Missy overcame the gap, lining 702 to give the Sharpshooters a moderate lead. Oreo did not relent for Terrace City, overcoming a slow start to post 651 and regain a lead. Sprinkles got cut down by a bounce, and her flailing backhand ended her turn at 184 for Capital City, putting them at a deficit. Stripes likely sealed a win for the Knights, belting 1071 to put the game at a significant distance, with the Knights finishing at 2394. Dani had an average 260 for the Sharpshooters, giving them an unlucky final of 1313 in the loss. Terrace City is over their slump now, taking the season series to improve to 10-4, while Capital City is down to 4-6.

Nestle's Warriors Park, Central: Despite a big protest due to technical difficulties, Modernistic's Juno was saddled with a poor performance of 55 points. Twilight slugged 1997 for Central to begin the game, and probably end it unofficially at the same time. Ms. Puppy put a small dent in the deficit with 314 for the Union. Dustin tapped 132 for the Warriors, with little concern for their lead getting approached by the end of the game. Chimpy chipped 343 for Modernistic, only stopping due to an odd bounce that took one ball in a double-hit out of bounds. Noelle poked 153 for Central, maintaining the massive lead with as little effort as possible. Puff I hit only 96 for the Union, and they lost with 808 after a second technical error that the league will have to address soon. Gizmo tallied an unnecessary 637 for the Warriors, with their final standing at 2919 in the big win. Central keeps pace with the Knights at 10-4, while Modernistic slips to 6-5.

Nike Field, Commerce: The Prestige have already won at home, but they face a steep challenge to secure the season sweep on the road. Acorn laid a good foundation for Lighton to build on, supplying 641 at the start for a strong lead. Tigerette answered with 355 for Commerce, keeping things somewhat close early on. Spirit, for a third straight road game, hit a low score of 112 for the Prestige, endangering their leading status. Ice Cream pulled the Tradewinds into the lead, pummeling 954 to flip the deficit on its head. Twinkie I overcame the struggles of a technical error to slap 495 for Lighton, putting them right back in the fight. Lionel pounded 629 for Commerce, extending their lead as the game heads to its final players. Lydia forced a response, scooping 799 for the Prestige to give them a final of 2047. Lorde went for 245 for the Tradewinds, securing their victory at 2183. Commerce is now 13-5 and looks like a top team for the season, while Lighton settles for a season split at 6-6.

The Intel Pitch, Diamond: Both teams need to gain some traction in a competitive East Division. Slinks batted a solid 272 for Harrison to give them an average lead early on. Smokey hit 359 for Diamond to take a modest lead. Twinkie II fired back with 752 for the Specters to pull them into a nice lead. Citrus elected not to swing at a bounced ball, but it hit the boundary and ended her turn with just 113 added for the Gems. Sydney launched another 823 for Harrison, extending their lead to likely unreachable levels. Pedey couldn't complete a backhand flip, getting stalled at 98 as Diamond falls further behind. Brownie tacked on 654 more for the Specters, and they are expected to hold on for a win at 2551. Cassandra produced 354 for the Gems, but it was far from enough as they fell with 924. Harrison jumps to 8-8 with the win, while Diamond drops to 4-8.

HP Field, Eastside: Smudge carved out a very quick 454 for Infinity, a strong opening salvo for the floundering Southwestern team. Graham lacked the accuracy from his previous efforts, scoring only 230 for Eastside this game. Shelley went for only 199 for the Torpedoes, leaving them vulnerable as the game approaches halfway completed. Chelsea got some back by striking 313 for the Sharks, but that didn't cover the entire deficit. Gabe pummeled 522 to reinforce the Infinity lead, an odd feeling for the oft-behind team. Taylor swatted 640 for Eastside, giving them a very narrow lead heading into the final players. Whiskers did not give any safety to the Torpedoes, with her 280 putting them at 1455. Niki scored 259, but this left the Sharks behind at 1442. Infinity will take wins any way they can get them, and this narrow one gets them to 2-10, while Eastside loses in embarrassing fashion to fall to 4-6.

Chevrolet Field, Everton: The Torpedoes look to build on their win with the second game in a doubleheader. Smudge clubbed a very solid 400 for Infinity to lead off with this time. Goldy struggled a bit, taking only 263 for Everton. An odd bounce deflected a ball with spin just over the base of Shelley's bat, ending her turn at 208 to keep the Torpedoes on their toes near the halfway point. Puff III blasted 998 for the Eagles, giving them a significant lead. Gabe took just 112 for Infinity, putting them farther behind as it appears another loss is in their future. Cleo didn't inspire much confidence, getting overwhelmed with odd deflections that brought her turn to a close with just 36 more points for Everton. Whiskers forced a response, smacking 690 for the Torpedoes, which put them at a final score of 1410. Blizzard made it a comfortable with for the Eagles, hauling in 351 to put the winning total at 1648. Everton is still perfect at home, and 9-1 overall, while Infinity slides to 2-11.

Toyota Pitch, Freedom: Fresh off their win, the Eagles must put their league-leading record on the line against a division rival. Goldy set a very strong tone for Everton, scraping up 750 for a solid early lead. Jasmine shot back with 390 for Freedom, keeping the pace of the game very high. Puff III cranked out another 875 for the Eagles, extending their lead to a very large margin. Stinky kept the Cascades consistent, tallying 336 as the game gets a little farther out of hand. Cleo let up on the pace a bit, posting just 80 for Everton. Roxy produced 423 for Freedom, making a decent dent in the deficit. Blizzard cranked out 586 for the Eagles, giving them a final of 2291 in a likely win. Nikolai failed with 57 for the Cascades, giving them a harsh loss with 1206. Everton jumps to 10-1, while Freedom falls back to 8-6.

Amazon Field, Golden: The run of doubleheaders continues with this second game in a row for the Cascades. The Pilots did take the first half of this season series, and they aim to close out the sweep at home. Jasmine had a meager 72 points for Freedom, as they battle a bit of fatigue for the busy segment. Valencia cashed in on the opportunity, hitting 594 for Golden to stake out a decent lead. Stinky tried a backhand flip but didn't see a ball coming in hot for his stumps, which ended his turn with just 11 points as the Cascades are getting walked all over. Dusty added 288 to the Pilots lead, which is strong at the halfway mark. Roxy sliced 185 for Freedom, attempting to make somewhat of an impact. Strut got behind the ball early and walked away with a measly 33 for Golden, potentially leaving them vulnerable. Nikolai managed 361 for the Cascades, but he couldn't fix the earlier damage and they lost with 629. A. Charlton iced the Pilots victory at 1641 with an individual effort of 726, earning the season sweep. Golden jumps up to 10-7, while Freedom is down to 8-7 during a current slump.

I don't know what this weekend will look like as far as it comes to getting publication of games done. We'll see where it goes from here.
