Only one series is lined up for a sweep, but the other three could either go back to even or become heavily tilted in one direction after today. We begin with...
Cisco Tysini Field, Tysini: The Swifts have yet to lose in the playoffs, and the Hummingbirds have to change that to stay alive. Patches couldn't provide a solid start, hitting a measly 36 for Boston at the start. Princess answered with 399 for Tysini, giving them a bit of hope as they take the initial lead. Puff II made a solid response for the Swifts, covering the deficit with her 487 as the game looks to be playing a bit tight. Leandra answered by slugging 1224 for the Hummingbirds, securing their lead pretty well. Gradley's slump on the road continued, as he took a 50% penalty and scored only 112 for Boston. Charli countered with 433, adding a little more meat to the Tysini lead as it looks like they'll save their season. Sweetheart tried to rally, and did well for herself with 487 for the Swifts, but they took the loss with 1122. Bright's 144 brought the Hummingbirds to 2200 even in the win. Boston still leads the series 3-1, and they'll look to finish it out at home.
Pepsi Prestige Park, Lighton: The Prestige would really like another win to put the Tradewinds in serious trouble. Tigerette's leadership isn't going so well, with this appearance netting just 39 points for Commerce. Acorn answered with a modest 192 for Lighton, giving them a small lead at the start. Ice Cream shot back with 617 for the Tradewinds, covering the poor game from the captain up nicely. Spirit couldn't bounce back for the Prestige, and her 152 meant they'd be behind at the halfway mark. Lionel didn't help Commerce much, with his meager 72 leaving the visitors vulnerable once again at an inopportune time. Twinkie I nearly played expertly with a ball on her backhand, which she popped high enough to manage it. She got behind it again, but her momentum ended her turn shortly after at 363, and Lighton just narrowly trails with a player each to go. Lorde did well for the Tradewinds, slapping 517 to get them to 1245 overall. Lydia couldn't keep up, falling with 96 and giving the Prestige a loss on 803 total. Commerce has retied the series at 2 and will look to impose their will again at home.
Toyota Pitch, Freedom: The Cascades have made an improbable run, and another win would help that run continue. Snowball established a strong Swordpoint lead, slashing 480 at the start of the game. Jasmine answered with 527 for Freedom, giving them a slight lead early in the game with the solid appearance. Dreamy made a handful of saves on her turn, but her spiked save ended up rolling slowly in the wrong direction, ending her efforts at 111 for the Blades. Stinky smashed 672 for the Cascades, boosting their lead effectively at the midway point. Shawn tapped 224 for Swordpoint, not enough to truly help their cause. Roxy faltered with a pathetic 41 for Freedom, potentially leaving the door open. Stealth corralled 560 for the Blades, forcing a response from the hosts as they finish with 1375. Nikolai had a 50% penalty and then posted a weak 22 for the Cascades, giving them the loss with 1262.
Verizon Field, Pacific: The Volcanoes are hoping to really pin the Eagles down if they can snag a win here. After a good outing last time, Goldy slipped back in this game with only 112 for Everton. Starlight paddled 456 for Pacific on her turn, giving the hosts a noticeable early lead. Puff III didn't help the Eagles cause at all, hitting just 25 as they are in deep trouble now. Ms. Kitty drilled 465 in response for the Volcanoes, extending their lead quite significantly at the halfway point. Cleo got a bit back with her 295 for Everton, but they're still far behind and running out of time. Jack suffered a 50% penalty for a false start on his turn, producing a modest 108 for Pacific to maintain their lead. Blizzard belted 707 for the Eagles, putting them at 1139 overall and forcing a small response from the hosts. Leonette thought she'd done enough, but she was short with 96, leaving the Volcanoes with a heartbreaking, series-shifting loss as they fall with 1125. The Eagles have undone their self-inflicted damage to tie the series at 2.
All the series that could even up did so, meaning there will be plenty of game 6 opportunities when we can get around to it. I would anticipate the round coming to a close on Saturday by some means. The whole playoffs should be done a week from tomorrow, on June 10, at the latest.
