Elite Cricket 2018 - Week 11

Elite action resumes over a couple of days. We begin with...


Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: The Surfers and Union open Week 11 action. Ms. Puppy takes rest for the visitors, while the hosts sit Bright after a pool appearance. Daisy popped 703 for Modernistic on a feisty opening turn for the visitors. Boots answered with 547 for Pearl to keep things relatively close early in the game. Puff I answered with a solid 400 for the Union on the second attack, maintaining their lead for now. Watermelon's run of mediocre efforts continued with only 246 for the Surfers this time, allowing the deficit to grow at the midway mark. Kodiak faltered with a high flick at 215 for Modernistic, weakening their lead a bit. Neopolitan answered with a massive 806 for Pearl, giving them the lead with a player each to go. Chimpy melted at a measly 66 as the Union took the loss with 1384. Beth tallied an extra 517 for the Surfers at the end, icing their win at 2116. Pearl soars to 11-11, while Modernistic drops to 8-12.


IBM Nighthawks Nest, North Modernistic: The Nighthawks begin a home doubleheader with Cheddar resting, while the Spiders sit Ted in this battle. Shadow lifted 569 for Web City on the opening turn, establishing the visitors well from the start. Peach had only 217 in response for North Modernistic, her rocky start leaving the hosts at an early deficit. Sugar countered with another 455 for the Spiders, extending their lead nicely with the stable performance. Gal covered that with 465 for the Nighthawks, mitigating the damage at the halfway mark of the game. Jack answered with 599 for Web City, muscling his way forward to pad their lead. B. Chapman kept North Modernistic in the fight with 560 on her turn, but they haven't had an answer yet. Shiny slipped at 152 for the Spiders, putting their final score at 1775. Luigi couldn't make the response for the Nighthawks, his pitiful 54 leaving them at a loss with 1296. Web City moves up to 10-12, while bumping North Modernistic to 5-12.


IBM Nighthawks Nest, North Modernistic: Luigi sits for the Nighthawks in the second half of the doubleheader, while Solaris takes rest for the Torpedoes in their sixth of eight straight road games. Infinity's Smudge immediately set the tone with 880, giving the visitors a hefty advantage. Peach couldn't do much on the counterattack for North Modernistic, submitting a sub-par 225. Fluffina smashed another 840 for the Torpedoes on the second attack, putting them even farther ahead. Cheddar didn't have much for pace for the Nighthawks with her 367 to bring the game to the halfway point. Shelley poked 393 for Infinity on her turn, maintaining their lead more than anything else. Gal stumbled to 246 as North Modernistic's struggles persist late in the game. Mr. Snowman added 221 for the Torpedoes, capping their offense at 2334. B. Chapman had the Nighthawks' best effort at 518, giving them a losing total of 1356. Infinity cruises to get to 14-4, while North Modernistic plunges to 5-13, into last place in the division.


Google Pitch at Union Ground, Modernistic: The Torpedoes complete a road doubleheader with Mr. Snowman taking the bench, while Chimpy sits for the Union as they return home. Smudge didn't have as free a swing in this one, ending at 351 for Infinity in a rough appearance. Ms. Puppy couldn't counter that, falling at a poor 162 for Modernistic in a slow start to the game. Fluffina hauled in 702 for the Torpedoes on the second attack, giving them a much more confident lead. Daisy chopped 544 for the Union to keep them somewhat close to catching up halfway through the game. Solaris couldn't handle a deflection for Infinity, falling with 260 on his turn as their lead weakens. Puff I made some progress with 359 for Modernistic, but they remain noticeably behind with a player each to go. Shelley picked up 353 for the Torpedoes, hoping their final score of 1666 will be enough in the end. Kodiak came very close for Modernistic, but his 576 left them just short at 1641. Infinity survives a scare to get to 15-4, while Modernistic slips to 8-13 with the unfortunate loss.


Starbucks Cup, Archtown: The Arrows sit Wild Thing in hopes of staying out of last place, while Briana's development loan continues, leaving her out of action for the visiting Flames. Crystal got beat quickly at 57 for Queens, putting them in a precarious position early on. Sally had only 117 for Archtown in response, giving them a narrow lead initially. Violetta had a better 415 for the Flames, putting them ahead by a better margin on the second attack. Ruby failed to corral a ball on her backhand, but she slowed its progress, then flipped a different ball out of play to end with a measly 99 for the Arrows. Kyle hammered 767 for Queens on his turn, furthering their lead by a significant amount. Sleepy B. tried to get Archtown back in the game with 642, but they still face a steep deficit. Hannah had a good turn going, but she poked one ball high and ended up with 144 to give the Flames a total of 1383. Dusky failed to even come close, ending on a pathetic 21 for the Arrows, who lose with 879. Queens gets lucky to rise to 13-13, while Archtown falls back to 6-15.


Home Depot Forum, Web City: The Spiders sit Shiny after a brutal outing last time, while Rosemary takes the bench for the Tradewinds. Tigerette had a somewhat decent start for Commerce, grabbing 279 on the first turn to get things going. Shadow kept things incredibly close with 281 for Web City, giving the hosts an extremely narrow lead after the first turn. Taylor had a stronger 497 for the Tradewinds on the second attack, breathing life into their offense. Ted couldn't keep up with 231 for the Spiders, putting them behind at the midway mark. Lionel wasted the lead with only 139 for Commerce, making them vulnerable at an inconvenient time. Sugar slapped 608 for Web City in response, giving the hosts a late lead. Niki drilled 709 for the Tradewinds at the end, setting their final score at 1624 to force the hosts into a response. Jack did enough with his 659 to carry the Spiders to a win at 1779. Web City rises to 11-12, while Commerce sinks to 7-12.


Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: The Sharpshooters go without Pauline in this game, while the Spiders are resting Shadow in a game they don't expect to win. Ted had a good pace right at the start of his turn, but he ended up with only 147 for Web City by the end. Chris scooped up 512 for Capital City in response, giving them a noticeable initial lead. Sugar covered the deficit with a solid 408 for the Spiders on a lively second attack. Missy had a sublime backhand flick to briefly extend her turn near the end, pounding 699 for the Sharpshooters to boost their lead. Jack couldn't raise his pace for Web City, falling with a poor 201 as they fall definitively behind. Sprinkles tallied 480 for Capital City, extending their lead a little more ahead of the final players' turns. Shiny had a decent 370 for the Spiders at the end, giving them a total of 1126 in the loss. Lorde tapped 280 for the Sharpshooters to ice their win at 1971. Capital City continues to soar at 15-3, while Web City is set back to 11-13 with the loss.


Starbucks Cup, Archtown: The Arrows give Dusky some rest in this game, while Neopolitan's pool appearance earlier gives her an excused absence for this game. Boots had a sloppy start to the game, with dead balls on the pitch causing her to end at 96 for Pearl. Sally answered with a strong 455 for Archtown on the first turn, giving them the initial lead. Watermelon got taken out at a mediocre 240 for the Surfers, unable to cover the deficit. Ruby had another failure of a turn for the Arrows, hitting a pathetic 45 as their lead weakens halfway through the game. Bright struggled on his turn, taking a technical error and two false starts before settling in with 361 for Pearl, while actually covered the deficit. Sleepy B. managed only 169 for Archtown on her turn, keeping the game extremely close with a player each to go. Beth pulled in 416 before a ball slipped under her bat to end her turn, giving the Surfers a total of 1113. Wild Thing was unable to equalize for the Arrows, his 279 leaving them in a poor loss at 948. Pearl escapes an ugly game at 12-11, while Archtown drops to 6-16 with the loss.


Google Pitch at Union Ground, Modernistic: The Sharpshooters head on the road with Lorde on the bench for this one, while Ms. Puppy sits for the Union after a rough previous game. Chris posted 336 for Capital City in a bit of a down start by his team's standards. Daisy got her bat sandwiched between two offerings, ending at 400 for Modernistic for a slight advantage early on. Missy answered with 359 for the Sharpshooters, keeping them in close range this time. Puff I shot back with 780 for the Union, pushing them farther ahead at the midway point. Sprinkles clambered back with 687 for Capital City, covering the deficit for now. Kodiak couldn't hold up Modernistic's lead with 138, allowing them to slip narrowly behind late in the game. Pauline tacked on 415 for the Sharpshooters, putting their total at 1797. Chimpy couldn't get the Union back in the game, his 176 saddling them with a loss at 1494. Capital City rises again to 16-3, while Modernistic falls to 8-14.


Home Depot Forum, Web City: The Spiders are back home now, with Jack taking this game off, while the visiting Pirates sit Steven for this one. Delila led off with 520 for Atlantic, thanks in part to a backhand flick to the back 4s to keep her turn going early on. Shadow had a persistent effort despite a lack of pace, scraping 434 for Web City to keep things close initially. Isabella made a successful and desperate defensive play to extend her turn, ending with a strong 477 for the Pirates. Ted drilled 711 for the Spiders, giving them the lead at the halfway mark of the game. Klaus shut that down with 818 for Atlantic, reclaiming the lead with a forceful counterattack. Sugar collapsed with only 51 for Web City this time, ruining their chances at a realistic comeback. Max had a decent 371 for the Pirates, capping their offense at 2186. Shiny replied with 487 for the Spiders at the end, unable to overcome the deficit as they lost with 1683. Atlantic had a good game to get to 11-12, while Web City slips to 11-14.


Google Pitch at Union Ground, Modernistic: The Union are back in action for a doubleheader, sitting Kodiak, while the Waves visit with Dewey taking the bench. Snuggle effortlessly lined 704 for Oceanside on the opening turn, giving them a great start. Ms. Puppy answered with 519 for Modernistic, keeping them somewhat close early on. Celestia had a bad swing that ended her turn at only 192 for the Waves, weakening their lead after the second attack. Daisy made small progress for the Union, chipping 238 after being unable to stop a fast ball that got behind her bat. Josie got beat on a deflection at 256 for Oceanside, unable to restrengthen their lead on the turn. Puff I covered the deficit this time with 481 on her turn, giving Modernistic a lead with a player each to go. Jason V. forced a response with 323 for the Waves, leaving their final score at 1475. Chimpy failed the Union in the worst way, hitting a measly 33 to give them the loss at 1271. Oceanside got lucky to take this win, moving to 15-9, while Modernistic falls to 8-15 ahead of a meeting with their biggest rival.


IBM Nighthawks Nest, North Modernistic: The Urban Derby's bitterest rivalry is renewed here, with Chimpy on the bench for the visitors and Gal resting for the hosts. Ms. Puppy poked her way to 424 for Modernistic, opening the scoring in the rivalry match with a good turn. Peach sprayed 653 for North Modernistic, taking a couple of hits on crafty backhands to give the hosts the lead. Her best friend Daisy fell with only 179 for the Union, unable to cover the deficit this time. Cheddar also faltered for the Nighthawks, producing a meager 25 with an errant swing weakening the lead. Puff I pulled Modernistic ahead with 455 on her turn, challenging the hosts with the effort. B. Chapman was knocked back at 50 for North Modernistic, putting them at a noticeable deficit late in the game. Kodiak placed 441 for the Union at the end, setting their final score at 1499. Luigi went on an impressive rally with 682 for the Nighthawks, but he came up short at 1410 overall. Modernistic pulls even with their rivals in the season series, rising to 9-15 overall, while North Modernistic drops to 5-14.
