Select Cricket 2018 - Week 13

We continue to push toward the second United Cup break, now just two weeks out. Select kicks off Week 13 with...

Toyota Pitch, Freedom: The Cascades host the Specters for the first of two meetings this week. Rudolph sits for the visitors, while the hosts give their captain Jasmine the game off. Sydney had some slow responses at times, but she stayed in action and rallied to 744 for Harrison. Stinky picked up 367 for Freedom on their opening turn, approximately halving the deficit. Twinkie II slugged 1085 for the Specters on the second attack, boosting their lead significantly. Roxy challenged them with 788 for the Cascades, but they lost more ground as the game reached half-completion. Lexi stumbled with 28 for Harrison, her lack of days off catching up to her and weakening their lead. Nikolai covered some of the deficit with 295 for Freedom, but they remain distinctly behind. Mitchell tapped another 311 for the Specters at the end, putting their final score at 2168. Stripes rallied with 1017 for the Cascades, getting their final score up to 2467 to take the win. Freedom is up to 15-9, while Harrison drops to 11-14 in the loss.

Microsoft Pitch, Del Sur: The Monarchs begin a doubleheader on the road with Dominic sitting in this game, while Gabe sits for the hosting Lumberjacks after a rough game last week. Avril had a rough 129 for Southern, unable to block a ball that deflected out of bounds. Whiskers fell with 162 for Maplewood on a bad swing, putting the hosts narrowly ahead after the first turn. Hoppy matched her teammate with only 129 for the Monarchs, chipping a ball up and out of play far too soon in her turn. Diddley broke the scoring drought with a big 752 for the Lumberjacks, setting them well ahead. Panda couldn't dig Southern out of this one, hitting a mild 281 as it appears the visitors will be short. Bryant slapped another 668 for Maplewood on his turn, a productive outing to extend their lead. Pounce did a bit better than his teammates with 361 for the Monarchs, but they still lost with 900 overall. Summer tapped 408 for the Lumberjacks at the end, icing their win at 1990. Maplewood gets back on track, rising to 13-16, while Southern is down to 13-10.

Microsoft Pitch, Del Sur: The Monarchs return home to finish their doubleheader against the Crowns. Avril sits for the hosts, while Jeremias rotates out of the visitors' efficient lineup. Kayla began with 907 for Royal in an electric opening turn to start the visitors in good form. Hoppy answered with 448 for Southern, better than her last game but not enough to give the hosts a handle on the game. Jake countered with 703 for the Crowns, padding their lead on the second attack. Panda had a false start on his first try, and then only managed 51 points for the Monarchs on the second attempt. Nightfur tacked on a solid 407 for Royal, looking shaky during most of her turn. Pounce surged forward with 748 for Southern, trying to get them back in the game with a player each to go. Cassie had a weak 176 for the Crowns, leaving their final score at 2193. Dominic made a rally as well, but he got too excited and finish with 766, leaving the Monarchs a little short at 2013. Royal survives a late scare to get to 13-10, passing the now 13-11 Southern squad.

GE Stadium, Southridge: The Defenders begin a home doubleheader by hosting the Specters. Lexi sits for the Specters after a dud performance earlier, while Stephanie rests for the Defenders. Sydney bopped 584 for Harrison in another good lead-off turn for the visitors. Bianca wrapped her bat around her last swing, falling with 192 as Southridge starts this game a bit slowly. Twinkie II hit only 240 in a mediocre second attack for the Specters, weakening their lead. Debby couldn't do any better for the Defenders, struggling to 224 despite a solid pace that sees them fall farther behind. Rudolph misplayed a deflection off a dead ball, ending at 202 as Harrison can't take a commanding lead yet. Caitlin made her move with 548 for Southridge, their breakout performance to make it close in the final turn. Mitchell fell with a pitiful 51 for the Specters, wasting another positive start as they finish with 1077. Hughbert did his job with 276 for the Defenders, securing their win at 1240 in an ugly game. Southridge is up to 21-5, while Harrison sinks to 11-15 with the loss.

GE Stadium, Southridge: The Defenders finish a four-game home stand against the Cascades. Bianca sits for the hosts in this one, while Nikolai takes the bench for the visitors. Jasmine started off with a good 425 for Freedom, setting them up well on the first turn of the game. Debby showed a lot of control for Southridge on her turn, with many deflections going her way as she scored 638. Stinky shot back with a firm 582 for the Cascades, keeping them involved in the game. Stephanie countered that with 694 for the Defenders, keeping her pace a bit slower but steady throughout the good turn. Roxy proved to be quite the force for Freedom, pummeling 952 at a ridiculous pace to keep the visitors involved. Caitlin couldn't pull Southridge back into the game, her 272 giving them a deficit with a player each to go. Stripes faltered with 247 for the Cascades this time, leaving them at a final score of 2206. Hughbert send 569 for the Defenders on a late rally, but they again lost with 2153. Freedom seems to have Southridge's number, with the former rising to 16-9 while the latter slips to 21-6.

Toyota Pitch, Freedom: The Cascades look to have a more polished effort against the Specters as they clash for the second time this week. Mitchell sits for the visitors while Stripes is on the bench for the hosts despite her heroics at the start of the week. Sydney finally cracked for Harrison, managing a poor 51 in this appearance. Jasmine didn't do well for Freedom either, hitting 122 to put them only narrowly ahead. Twinkie II poked 245 for the Specters, pulling them ahead in a low-scoring battle. Stinky chipped 232 for the Cascades, not matching his direct opponent but keeping the hosts in control at the halfway mark. Lexi couldn't solve her problems from her last appearance, ending with a measly 28 for Harrison. Roxy didn't have much pace for Freedom, but she still picked up 268 to extend their lead well. Rudolph had only 249 for the Specters, leaving them in a rough loss with 573. Nikolai ended up with 304 for the Cascades, sealing their low-offense win at 926. Freedom is lucky to get to 17-9, while Harrison drops again to 11-16.

Microsoft Pitch, Del Sur: These Coastal rivals meet for the first of two out of three league games, with Nibbles sitting for the visitors and Panda on the bench for the hosts. Mams did alright with 227 for Viewpoint Sound this time, giving them a slightly weak opening turn. Avril answered with a measly 122 for Southern, unable to cover the deficit presented to her team. Hoot played exceptionally for the Meteors with 822 on this turn, ahead of his scheduled rest in the next game. Hoppy answered with a similar 826 for the Monarchs, the pacey attack keeping things stable at the halfway mark. Vincent couldn't keep up the high-scoring and high-pace appearances, falling at 304 for Viewpoint Sound this time. Pounce fired back with 695, finally getting a result to break Southern's way with a player each to go in the game. Dani had only 181 for the Meteors at the end, producing their losing total of 1534. Dominic tapped 240 at the end to give the Monarchs a total of 1883 in their win. Southern is up to 14-11, while Viewpoint Sound slides to 9-13.

The Intel Pitch, Diamond: The Gems return home to face their bitterest rival, with Citrus taking the bench, while the Cascades roll in with Roxy getting some needed rest. Jasmine cranked 684 for Freedom on the opening turn, doing quite well for the visitors. Rosalina picked up 472 for Diamond in response, but the hosts will start from a familiar trailing position in this game. Stinky served up another 582 for the Cascades, building upon their start to extend the lead. Pedey covered up some of his poor touches for the Gems, but his 363 caused them to lose ground at the halfway mark. Nikolai launched 926 for Freedom, boosting their lead significantly with a wonderful outing. Smokey couldn't get near that mark, falling at a poor 54 for an over-matched Diamond side. Stripes had an alright 335 for the Cascades, capping their final score at 2527. Cassandra led a bit of a charge with 863 for the Gems, but they took the loss at 1752 anyway. Freedom took care of business in offing their rivals to get to 18-9, while Diamond is down to 7-21 on the year.

Volkswagen Stadium, Viewpoint Sound: The Meteors are now the hosts in their second clash with the Monarchs this week. Avril sits for performance reasons for the visitors, while Hoot rests for the hosts. Hoppy abused the ball for Southern, smashing 886 in a fantastic opening turn. Mams suffered some distractions and had low pace, ending with a middling 264 for Viewpoint Sound. Panda faltered with 136 for the Monarchs this time, unable to pad their lead with the poor appearance. Nibbles failed to take advantage of the opportunity for the Meteors, hitting a paltry 98 as the deficit grows a little. Pounce countered with 640 for Southern, getting their offense back on track after the halfway point. Vincent put up a solid 401 for Viewpoint Sound, but they again lost ground, and they have little time to correct course. Dominic swung 497 for the Monarchs at the end of their turns, giving them a total of 2159. Dani put up quite the rally with 792 for the Meteors, but they fell short with a total of 1555. Southern continues to climb at 15-11, while Viewpoint Sound drops again to 9-14.

Mercedes-Benz Field, Harrison: The Specters are without captain Twinkie II due to rest from her earlier pool appearance, while Caitlin sits for the Defenders this time. Bianca went with incredible pace out of the game for Southridge, but a somewhat short turn saw her finish with 543. Sydney kept up a great pace for a longer stretch of time, pounding 869 for Harrison for the early lead. Debby stayed in line with the Defenders' lead-off effort, piling 560 onto their offense to cover the deficit. Lexi couldn't keep up with 66 for the Specters, causing them to fall behind at the midway mark. Stephanie supplied another 431 for Southridge, extending their lead well. Rudolph posted a good 472 for Harrison, cutting into the deficit slightly as the final players have plenty to fight for. Hughbert did well with 545 for the Defenders, ending their balanced attack at 2079 total. Mitchell countered with 492 for the Specters, but they came up short at 1899. Southridge holds on to go to 22-6, while Harrison falls to 11-17, fortune continuing to elude them.

Pepsi Prestige Park, Lighton: The Prestige hope a visit from the Gems will keep them in second place. Waluigi sits for the first time at home all year, while Pedey takes the bench for the visitors. Rosalina did decently with 386 for Diamond, setting them up well on the opening turn. Acorn fell out of form at 135 for Lighton, a concern the team had in playing him for this game. Citrus took advantage of the hosts' weakness, attacking with 694 to pad the Gems' lead on a strong second attack. Spirit tried to go with pace for the Prestige, but she clipped a corner, ending at 276 in a mediocre turn. Smokey got beat with a measly 36 on a deflection that brought Diamond's good times to screeching halt. Katelynn tried to get Lighton back in the game, but she had only 196 after a deflection offed her as well, leaving them at a significant deficit. Cassandra didn't put the game out of reach, but her 405 leaves the Gems looking good with 1521 overall. Nicole attack with 593 for the Prestige, unable to cover the deficit as they fall with 1200 even. Diamond pulls off an upset to get to 8-21, while Lighton sinks to 12-7, with an angry mob on the rise behind them.

FedEx Ground, Eastside: The Sharks' first and only game this week comes against the surging Crowns. Salmo sits for the hosts, while Cassie does the same for the visitors. Kayla saw a ball just sneak over her bat for Royal, ending her turn at 311 as it claimed the wicket. Graham fired back with 346 for Eastside this time, giving them a narrow lead initially. Jake carved a little deeper with 378 for the Crowns, putting them ahead again for now. Chelsea had hardly any pace for the Sharks, collapsing at 217 as the hosts fall behind halfway through the game. Jeremias went big with 688 for Royal on his turn, extending their lead to a more comfortable level. Gizmo got cut down by a blocked swing, and then fell shortly after at 233 for Eastside, who are limping to the finish in this one. Nightfur poked 345 for the Crowns, adding a little more support as they finish with 1722. Cubby melted at 240 for the Sharks, leaving them with a loss at 1036. Royal rises once again to 14-10, while Eastside is at 12-15 with the loss.

That's all for the games this week in Select. Elite will begin their Week 13 schedule tomorrow afternoon.
