A new week in the middle division is ready to begin. We lead off with...
McDonald's Pitch at Pirates Park, Atlantic: The Pirates begin the week hosting the Tradewinds. Isabella sits for the hosts, while Lionel does the same for the visitors. Tigerette had an awkward attempt at a backhand stop for Commerce, as it popped out of play to end her turn at 257. Delila answered with 599 for Atlantic, putting them ahead on the opening turn. Taylor answered with 1331 for the Tradewinds, a massive performance to gain the lead for the visitors. Steven batted a solid 375 for the Pirates in response, unable to meet the deficit at the halfway mark. Rosemary poked a low 178 for Commerce, weakening their lead a bit with the unsteady outing. Klaus rallied Atlantic back into the game with a crisp 796, good for a four-point lead with a player each to go. Niki pumped 665 for the Tradewinds, bringing their total to 2431 at the end. Max couldn't reply well enough, his 290 leaving the Pirates in a loss with 2060. Commerce jumps to 8-12, while Atlantic drops to 11-13.
Nike Field, Commerce: The Tradewinds finish their doubleheader at home, hosting the league-leading Sharpshooters. Missy takes this one off for the visitors, while Rosemary sits for the hosts. Chris had a rough opener for Capital City, unable to tame a spinning ball on his backhand as he fell at 48 points. Tigerette slapped 485 for Commerce in response, giving them a nice lead. Sprinkles countered with 552 for the Sharpshooters, covering the deficit well on the second attack. Taylor shot back with 587 for the Tradewinds, reasserting their lead at the midway mark. Lorde had 328 for Capital City this time, unable to cover the deficit against her former team. Lionel responded with 375 for Commerce, keeping their lead steady with a player each to go. Pauline flipped 225 for the Sharpshooters, leaving them in a losing total of 1153, their first road loss of the year. Niki kept it simple with 224 for the Tradewinds, capping their win at 1671. Commerce rises again to 9-12, while Capital City slips to 16-4, just a half-game ahead of second place.
Ebay Center, Queens: The Flames remain without Briana, while the Nighthawks start their doubleheader with B. Chapman on the bench in the road game. Peach smoked 647 with a good pace for North Modernistic, establishing their offense early in the game. Crystal got a lot of it back for Queens with 495, but the hosts are behind initially regardless. Cheddar countered with 423 for the Nighthawks, a smaller but still effective second attack from the star. Violetta responded with 748 for the Flames, pulling them ahead halfway through the game. Gal fell with 139 for North Modernistic, not exactly encouraging confidence in their late-game strategy. Kyle also faltered for Queens, only able to score a pitiful 32 as the game takes a lower-scoring turn. Luigi forced a response from the hosts with his 375 for the Nighthawks, giving them a total of 1584. Hannah served up 418 for the Flames, sealing the win at 1693. Queens rises to 14-13, while North Modernistic is a weak 5-15.
IBM Nighthawks Nest, North Modernistic: Gal returns to the bench for the second meeting between these teams in two weeks. The Union sit Daisy in their second of a five-game road trip. Ms. Puppy had a middling 290 for Modernistic to lead things off. Peach shot back with 568 for North Modernistic, as the captain nearly doubles her opposite player. Puff I maintained a compact swing for the Union on the second attack, getting a good pace to finish with 735. Cheddar answered with 332 for the Nighthawks, who trail slightly in the middle of the game. Kodiak mashed 795 for Modernistic in another big turn for the visitors, extending their lead quite nicely. B. Chapman got about half of the deficit back with 416 for North Modernistic, but they'll need far more than that. Chimpy tapped 289 for the Union at the end, setting their final score at 2109. Luigi tried to catch up, but his 336 set the Nighthawks short at 1652. Modernistic takes another win from their bitterest rivals, going to 10-15, while North Modernistic is 5-16 with the loss.
AT&T Oceanside Stadium, Oceanside: The Waves give Celestia rest in their first game this week, while the Pirates have Max on the bench for this game. Delila took a technical error replay after a weak first attempt, and she churned 431 for Atlantic on the second try. Snuggle had a weak 129 for Oceanside on their opening turn, an uncharacteristically bad effort from the captain. Isabella calmly added 471 for the Pirates on the second attack, extending their lead with ease. Josie managed 377 for the Waves, mitigating some of the damage at the midway mark. Steven dropped 515 for Atlantic, continuing to boost their lead with a productive outing. Dewey fired off 421 for Oceanside, but they continue to lose ground late in the game. Klaus lined 711 for the Pirates this time, bringing their final score up to 2128. Jason V. had to take a replay after ignoring a technical error, and his second attempt ended at a paltry 51 as the Waves took the loss with 978, their worst effort this year. Atlantic rises to 12-13, while Oceanside slips to 15-10.
Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: The Sharpshooters rest their captain Chris for this game, while the Nighthawks return to the road with Cheddar on the bench. Peach had only 102 for North Modernistic in a poor start to the game for the visitors. Missy had a good save on a tough deflection, but the Capital City veteran still fell at 213 in a rough opening turn. Gal did better with a solid 407 for the Nighthawks on the second attack, putting them ahead for now. Sprinkles hammered 647 for the Sharpshooters, restoring their lead at the halfway mark. B. Chapman couldn't recover the deficit for North Modernistic with a poor 112 on her turn. Lorde answered with a decent 340 for Capital City, keeping them in control of the game as the final players come to bat. Luigi launched quite the attack with 940 for the Nighthawks, setting their final score at 1561. Pauline stayed cautious at first, then built up her pace before a deflection ended her turn at 631, and the Sharpshooters took the win at 1831. Capital City is 17-4, while North Modernistic drops again to 5-17.
Nike Field, Commerce: The Tradewinds remain at home and give Niki a rare game off, while Shelley sits for the Torpedoes in the finale of their eight-game road trip. Smudge had a great pace at the start, but it disappeared quickly and she fell with 97 for Infinity on the first turn. Tigerette answered with a solid 391 for Commerce, putting them ahead to start the game. Fluffina pummeled 975 for the Torpedoes on a fierce second attack, giving them the lead now. Taylor couldn't play a slow deflection, watching as it hopped over her bat and took out her wicket to end her turn at 171 for the Tradewinds. Solaris scattered 466 for Infinity on his turn, with an unreliable but effective pacing to his attack. Lionel had a reasonable 361 for Commerce, unable to battle back against the deficit. Mr. Snowman shoved 335 for the Torpedoes at the end, leaving their final score at 1873. Rosemary made a massive push with 707 for the Tradewinds, but she came up short at a total of 1630 for the team. Infinity rises to 16-4, while Commerce is 9-13 with the loss.
Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: The Surfers sit Boots for rest as they look to continue a run of success at home, while the visiting Arrows sit beleaguered captain Ruby for performance. Sally had a decent 375 to open the scoring for Archtown in this game. Watermelon couldn't get out of her rut for Pearl, hitting only 139 as they'll start this one from behind. Sleepy B. kept the Arrows offense consistent with 378 on her turn, doubling their output. Neopolitan covered that damage with an aggressive and productive 398 for the Surfers, keeping them somewhat close. Dusky clobbered 639 for Archtown on her turn, extending their lead with the big performance. Bright couldn't stay in the zone for Pearl this time, hitting 392 as the game looks to be getting away from the hosts. Wild Thing lined another 1009 for the Arrows, setting their final at a likely unreachable 2401. Beth grabbed 311 for the Surfers before her exit, leaving them in a loss with 1240. Archtown gets a surprising win to rise to 7-16, while Pearl stumbles back to 12-12.
McDonald's Pitch at Pirates Park, Atlantic: Both teams elect to give their captains a game off, with the Pirates resting Delila and the Nighthawks addressing scoring concerns as Peach rests. Cheddar started confidently for North Modernistic, but she dropped her pace and finished with 257. Isabella rocked 765 for Atlantic with pace in response, the big attack setting the hosts ahead at first. Gal suffered a deflection at 225, stalling her attack for the Nighthawks as they remain behind. Steven didn't do much better with 224 for the Pirates, maintaining their lead at the halfway mark. B. Chapman tried to put up a fight with 383 for North Modernistic, but this too was short of the deficit. Klaus fired back with 535 for Atlantic, giving their lead a bit more strength ahead of the final players' turns. Luigi slammed 624 for the Nighthawks at the end, setting their final score at 1489, which will be a loss. Max tallied 640 for the Pirates at the end, giving them a final score of 2164 in the win. Atlantic is up to 13-13, while North Modernistic drops to 5-18.
Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: The Torpedoes have a chance to take a share of first place as they host the Surfers. Smudge sits for the Torpedoes after a tough game, while Watermelon does the same for the Surfers. Boots did not get the start she wanted for Pearl, hitting a measly 20 points after a bad third swing. Fluffina got Infinity off to a better start, sacrificing pace for longevity as she hit 441 on the opening turn. Neopolitan couldn't dig the Surfers out of their hole, probably making things worse with only 117 on her turn. Solaris found a groove for the Torpedoes, cranking out 723 to extend their lead at the midway mark. Bright simply let a ball get behind his bat for Pearl, as he posted only 84 against one of his former teams. Shelley partially overcame a cluttered pitch, but a deflection still finished her at 327 for Infinity, who remain firmly in control. Beth ended the pitiful team effort for the Surfers with 120, giving them a poor total of 341 in the loss. Mr. Snowman accepted a deflection taking him out at 320 as the Torpedoes finished the win at 1811. Infinity had no problem getting to 17-4, while Pearl takes a hit back to 12-13.
IBM Nighthawks Nest, North Modernistic: The Nighthawks return home, with Cheddar getting the game off, while the Hummingbirds' only appearance this week sees Leandra on the bench for rest. Princess make a critical error, accidentally touching a ball back into her wicket to end at 25 points for Tysini. Peach didn't take control of the game for North Modernistic with only 162 in response. Charli made some improvements with 290 for the Hummingbirds, but their lead is vulnerable. Gal answered with a pacey 755 for the Nighthawks, claiming the lead for the hosts midway through the game. Brownie shot back with 576 for Tysini, nearly covering the deficit with the good outing. B. Chapman had a middling 260 for North Modernistic this time, restoring the lead a bit. Paps struck 551 for the Hummingbirds, forcing the hosts to respond to the visitors' final score of 1442. Luigi stumbled with 173 for the Nighthawks at the end, his good week getting a blemish as the hosts lost with 1350. Tysini escapes with a fortunate win, going to 13-9, while North Modernistic drops again to 5-19.
IBM Nighthawks Nest, North Modernistic: Luigi's folly last game earns him a benching for this one, while Jason V. sits for the Waves in the Week 12 finale. Snuggle showed little mercy in hitting 656 for Oceanside on the opening turn, slowed only by a cluttered pitch late in the turn. Peach served up 481 in response for North Modernistic, keeping them in the battle this time. Celestia got beat on a deflection at 129 for the Waves, leaving their lead exposed on the second attack. Cheddar made only a small gain for the Nighthawks with 192 this time, closing the gap a little. Josie too suffered a deflection at 96 points, further weakening the Oceanside lead. Gal covered the deficit with 458 for North Modernistic, setting up an interesting finish in this one. Dewey failed at 53 for the Waves, wasting his captain's hot start as the visitors crash out in a loss at 934. B. Chapman flicked 297 to ice the Nighthawks win at 1428. North Modernistic gets a respite at 6-19, while Oceanside drops to 15-11.
That's all we've got for this week in Elite. Tournament play is on hold, but may return Sunday, after the conclusion of Week 12 in Premier.
