Premier Cricket 2018 - Week 12

We're ready for another batch of games at the Premier level. Tournament play is still on hold for now, but may return after this hits post. We begin with...

Verizon Field, Pacific: The Volcanoes lead off week 12 with a home doubleheader, first facing the Blades. Jason N. gets long-awaited rest for the visitors, while Chicky Phil is off for the hosts. Snowball had a shaky turn with only 57 for Swordpoint, giving them a weak starting effort. Starlight hammered 876 right away for Pacific, a confident start from the captain giving them an early lead. Dreamy blasted 1063 in response for the Blades, covering the deficit with her big turn. Ms. Kitty fought it off with 679 for the Volcanoes, restoring a smaller lead at the halfway mark. Bandit made a push with 495 for Swordpoint, trying to keep them in a competitive position. Twinkie I accepted 289 instead of taking a replay for a technical error, as Pacific maintains a mild lead late in the game. Stealth crumbled at 211 for the Blades, putting their final score at 1826, just shy of forcing a response. Leonette tapped 176 to ice the Volcanoes win at 2020. Pacific gets a boost to 10-10, on level terms with the 13-13 Swordpoint team.

Verizon Field, Pacific: The Sisterhood Derby goes next, as the Warriors visit the Volcanoes. Twinkie I will sit out for the hosts, while Mario takes the bench for the visitors. Twilight had a rough start with 139 for Central this time, leaving them vulnerable immediately. A viciously high offering cut Pacific's Starlight down with a measly 44 points, putting them behind slightly. Dustin knocked 957 for the Warriors on the second attack, giving them a much stronger lead this time. Ms. Kitty had a decent 335 for the Volcanoes, but they remain quite far behind at mid-game. Wings piled on with 602 more for Central on his turn, keeping them in control of the game. Leonette fired off 715 for Pacific, mitigating the damage but hardly countering the deficit. Noelle had a decent 264 for the Warriors at the end, sealing their score at 1962 in a likely win. Chicky Phil tried to cover some ground, but he fell at 404 and the Volcanoes took the loss at 1498. Central is up to 8-11 on the year, while Pacific drops back to 10-11.

Chevrolet Field, Everton: The Eagles will be without a resting Goldy in this game, while the Stills look to capitalize on that with Anton returning to the bench. Easter had a steady pace at first, but she scooped her last swing too high, falling with 96 for Todavía in a slow start. Puff III put in an excellent counterattack with 640 for Everton, leading their offense off well. Sierra picked up 457 for the Stills, shrinking the deficit with a productive second attack. Cleo fired back with another stunner on attack, hauling 742 for the Eagles to extend their lead as her scoring tear continues. Bells dropped at 98 for Todavía in a lackluster turn that will damage their slim hopes of a comeback. Kirstin couldn't get anything going with a deflection cutting her down at only 20 points for Everton. Prism picked up 456 for the Stills this time, but they will take the loss anyway at 1107. Blizzard tried to get fancy on her backhand, but a fast offering downed her with 424, giving the Eagles a total of 1826 in the win. Everton is up to 11-11, while Todavía falls off to 11-15.

Nestle's Warriors Park, Central: The Warriors will sit their captain Twilight in the first of two meetings with the Pilots this week, while the visitors rest Sparkles as they try to break even on a six-game road trip. Valencia came out with a blistering pace to record 714 for Golden on the opening turn. Dustin had only 314 for Central, using high pace at first but dropping off as the turn progressed. Dusty had no trouble extending the Pilots lead on the second attack with a powerful and pacey 873. Mario held on pretty well to get 482 for the Warriors, but they remain behind at the midway point. Strut weakened the Golden lead with only 112 on a poor turn from the usually-steady veteran. Wings had only 200 on his turn, cutting mildly into the deficit. A. Charlton had a substantial 583 for the Pilots at the end, putting their final score at 2282. Noelle managed 288 for the Warriors, as they took the loss with 1284, halting a four-game home winning streak. Golden rises to 16-10, while Central is 8-12 in a four-way tie for 9th at this moment.

Coca-Cola Field, Boston: The Swifts begin a doubleheader with a home game against the Volcanoes in the Generations Derby. Both captains, the host Patches and visitor Starlight, sit this game out. Ms. Kitty had a solid opener with 361 for Pacific, although she would have preferred a bit more. Puff II answered with a steady 760 for Boston, giving them the initial lead with confidence. Twinkie I struggled for the Volcanoes, hitting a mild 217 as the deficit remains in place. Gradley was a bit unlucky to get taken out at 456, a low ball sneaking under his bat ruining the turn for the Swifts star. Leonette swung too hard and ended at a measly 49 as Pacific's deficit grows again. Sweetheart kept Boston on track with a gritty 702, boosting their lead ahead of the final players' turns. Chicky Phil hit a strong 585, but the damage was already done as the Volcanoes lost with 1212. Ice Cream tapped 304 for the Swifts to ice their big win at 2222. Boston is up to 22-3 with the win, while Pacific drops to 10-12.

Chevrolet Field, Everton: The Eagles are the next team in line to try stopping the Swifts. Gradley gets this game off for the visitors, while a rough last game gives Kirstin a game on the bench for the hosts. Patches wasted no time in establishing Boston's offense, lashing 679 on the opening turn. A well-rested Goldy returned fire with 722 for Everton, pulling them narrowly ahead initially. Puff II chose pace over longevity for the Swifts, and still managed to accrue 530 on a fruitful second attack. Puff III did better for the Eagles, building her pace up later to slam 681 and extend their lead. Sweetheart would not let Boston go quietly, burning her way to 869 with incredible pace as the visitors parry another attack. Cleo tried to set up on her backhand in a lower-pace game, but she tipped the ball onto her wicket and fell with 369 as Everton slips behind late. Ice Cream scrapped 417 for the Swifts, her turn putting the team at a final of 2495 overall. Blizzard couldn't make the counterattack, ending at 117 as the Eagles lose with 1889. Boston holds on to get to 23-3, while Everton slips to 11-12.

Amazon Field, Golden: The Pilots return to action in their second meeting with the Warriors this week. Noelle sits for the visitors, while Strut gets rest for the hosts. Twilight put up a commanding presence with 438 for Central, showing dominance with the bat despite the early exit. Valencia kept it close at first with 361, a quick-thinking defensive play sparing Golden a potentially worse start. Dustin countered with 713 for the Warriors, giving them a stronger lead on the second attack. Dusty tried to sneak one ball under another, but the ensuing deflection cut her off at 287 for the Pilots. Mario posted 624 for Central in another good turn from the visitors, extending their lead greatly. Sparkles made a decent rally with 458 for Golden, but they continue to lose ground late in the game. Wings had only 198 for the Warriors, putting their final score at 1973. A. Charlton had only 209 for the Pilots at the end of the game, giving them a total of 1315 in the loss. Central is up to 9-12 as they split the week with their hosts, who drop back to 16-11 with the loss.

Henry Ford Memorial Stadium, Pronger: The Tridents jump back into action shorthanded again, while the Blades choose to rest Stealth after some dodgy performances lately. Snowball blitzed with 691 for Swordpoint, the quick and hefty attack putting them in a good starting position. Precious kept it close at first with 615 for Pronger, a good response to the strong offense facing them. Dreamy had only 297 this time, her hot streak coming to a shuddering close as the Blades' lead weakens. Zach couldn't capitalize for the Tridents with only 117, allowing the deficit against them to grow. Bandit produced a solid 372 for Swordpoint this time, adding to their lead well. Spot answered with 324 for Pronger, as they slip farther behind. Jason N. got beat on a deflection at only 25 for the Blades, leaving them at a vulnerable 1385. Potter fell at 161, and the Tridents took another loss, dropping to 1217. Swordpoint escapes with a lucky win to go to 14-13, while Pronger dips to 6-10.

Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: The Blades finish their doubleheader at home with Bandit on the bench for rest, while the Rockers rest Cowzart in their first appearance this week. Misty ripped 1248 on the opening turn for Westside, challenging the hosts immediately. Snowball struggled with pace against her best friend, falling at 114 for Swordpoint. Goatee answered with 548 for the Rockers, adding a significant amount to their lead on the second attack. Dreamy countered with 647 for the Blades, but they still have a long comeback road ahead. Slinks slammed 805 for Westside on her turn, keeping them firmly in control in this game. Stealth couldn't stay ahead of the ball, eventually falling at 320 as Swordpoint looks primed for a rough defeat. Midnight struck 471 for the Rockers at the end, giving them a total of 3072 in an excellent game. Jason N. did okay with 345 for the Blades, but they suffered the loss at 1426. Westside's upset win gets them to 11-15, while Swordpoint drops to 14-14.

Apple Park, Todavía: The Knights begin a road doubleheader on the coast against the Stills. Bells sits for the hosts in this one, while Melissa is out for the visitors. Kiwi had a mediocre 245 for Terrace City to open the scoring, leaving the visitors vulnerable at the start. Easter answered with a strong 620, besting the opposing captain to give Todavía the initial lead by a noticeable margin. Jennifer caught the Knights up with 836 in a turn featuring great pace from the rising star. Sierra drew a technical error replay for the Stills, and then batted 559 to cover the deficit for now as the hosts retain a small lead. Oreo started with a slow pace for Terrace City, but she persisted well and wrangled 729 to set them ahead confidently. Prism tried to close the gap, and she did a decent job with 474, for Todavía has ground to make up on the final turn. Quincy hit a solid 409 for the Knights at the end, capping their offense at 2219. Anton fell with only 240 for the Stills, unable to keep up as they lost with 1893. Terrace City gets an important win to rise to 9-12, while Todavía falls back to 11-16.

Verizon Field, Pacific: The Knights finish their road doubleheader against the Volcanoes, with the hosts sitting Ms. Kitty as they start a five-game home stand, while Kiwi sits for the visitors. Jennifer had a solid 384 for Terrace City on the opening turn, giving them a decent start. Starlight let a ball bounce on her bat for too long, eventually panicking as she backhanded it out of play to end with 155 for Pacific. Oreo attacked with far more force for the Knights, gaining 600 to add to their lead. Twinkie I tried to attack with pace for the Volcanoes, falling at 216 when she hit a ball too high. Melissa bounced back from her benching with 879 for Terrace City, extending their lead fiercely. Leonette couldn't get Pacific off the launch pad, ending at a poor 234 as the deficit grows deeper. Quincy fought off some formidable challenges with 559 for the Knights, icing their offense at 2422. Chicky Phil managed a measly 80 for the Volcanoes, who suffered the loss at only 685. Terrace City rises again to 10-12, while Pacific takes a hard fall to 10-13.

Apple Park, Todavía: The Stills wrap up Week 12 with a home game against the Rockers. Cowzart again sits for the visitors, while Anton sits for the tenth time for the hosts. Misty stayed in good form with 520 for Westside on the first turn, giving the visitors a strong start. Easter answered with 448 for Todavía, keeping things close initially with a good turn of her own. Goatee pummeled 752 on the second attack for the Rockers, giving their lead a hefty extension. Sierra had a strong 477 for the Stills on this attack, but they are farther behind than before at the halfway mark. Slinks got knocked back by a deflection at 448 for Westside, but the visitors still hold a strong lead. Bells cracked 739 for Todavía this time, closing the gap with an electric rally for the hosts. Midnight stayed steady with 472 for the Rockers, putting them at a total of 2192 for the hosts to aspire to. Prism made a push with 488, but the Stills took the loss at 2152. Westside holds on late for the win to get to 12-15, while Todavía slips to 11-17.

That's all for Week 12. The full expectation is to see Day 18 of Tournament action later today, with normal play resuming in both leagues for the coming week.
