UPCL Cricket - Week 26 Part 2

We're back for the middle segment of Week 26, and we begin in...

Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: The Torpedoes return home with the hopes of keeping their home form strong, while the Defenders close up a three-game road trip. Bianca put up a decent performance for Southridge to lead off the game, hitting 424 on the opening turn. Her mother, Smudge, couldn't catch her, as the Infinity captain posted 321 to keep things close in the early going. Debby kept the flow of offense steady for the Defenders, hitting 407 in a good outing. Solaris made a dent in the deficit for the Torpedoes, striking a crisp 487 to get them closer at the halfway mark. Stephanie raised the standard of play in the game, pounding out 809 for Southridge to give them a sturdier lead. Whiskers couldn't keep up for Infinity, falling at 447 as they trail going into the final players' turns. Hughbert let the Defenders down at a critical moment, hitting a pathetic 9 to seal their score at 1649. Mr. Snowman used the chance to go big with 717 for the Torpedoes, giving them the win with 1972. Infinity got quite the bailout to win their fourth straight home game, improving to 30-20, while Southridge sinks to a frustrating 21-33.

Pepsi Prestige Park, Lighton: The Prestige hope their recent surge in scoring continues when they welcome a Sharks team just trying to hang on anymore. Chelsea had a decent pace going for Eastside, but she hit a ball too high and ended a bit early at 256. Acorn's already got a good player of the week case, as he smashed another 1041 for Lighton, his second consecutive 1k point game. Taylor saw a deflection brewing on her turn but couldn't avoid it, falling at 105 as the Sharks look weak in this one. Spirit provided another good supporting turn for the Prestige, drilling 616. Niki didn't get a lot of traction for Eastside, quickly succumbing to the pressure at 106, furthering the deficit in the process. Twinkie I didn't put too much effort into her turn, and still came out with 481 for Lighton to tack onto their lead. Paps couldn't make any meaningful impact for the Sharks either, grabbing 240 as they take the loss on 707. Salmo provided 369 for the Prestige, icing their offense at 2507 in a big win. Lighton has shown growth recently to get to 24-32 on the year, while Eastside crashes down to 22-28.

Amazon Field, Golden: The Pilots have a tough game as they wrap up a four-game home stand, with the Torpedoes making a one-off trip to play this one. Smudge got over her recent road struggles this time out, slashing 665 to give Infinity a substantial first attack. Her sister barely got half of it back for Golden, as Valencia contributed 336 to start the hosts' offense. Her son, Solaris, countered quite well for the Torpedoes, swatting 496 to boost the visitors' lead with his good turn. Dusty covered that damage and a little more for the Pilots, bringing them closer with her 584 at the midway mark. Whiskers fought it off pretty well for Infinity, recovering most of the damage with 564 to keep her team comfortably ahead. Strut put some pressure on the opposition, lining 682 to cut into the deficit again as Golden begins to get close with a player each to go. Mr. Snowman poked 424 for the Torpedoes, giving them 2149 total, which makes it too close to call. A. Charlton did just enough for the Pilots at the end, with her 560 lifting them to 2162 in the narrow win. Golden is up to 30-17 with the win, while Infinity slips back to 30-21.

Volkswagen Stadium, Viewpoint Sound: The Meteors play their fourth of a five-game home stand, while the Sharks wrap up their three-game road trip on the coast. Chelsea had a couple of good swings, but her overconfidence led to a high ball that downed her at 51 for Eastside. Mams did not make the same mistake, showing great poise as she knocked 839 to give Viewpoint Sound a big lead. Taylor popped back with 304 for the Sharks, putting a small dent in the deficit. Hoot followed up with another 879 for the Meteors, the big second attack essentially doubling their offense. Niki fired back with 392 for Eastside, but they are losing ground rapidly again in a lopsided battle. Nibbles tried to attack with pace, but his placement left plenty to be desired as he scored 193 in a weak turn for Viewpoint Sound. Paps had a measly 112 for the Sharks at the end, sealing their loss with 859. Dominic tacked on 200 to bring the Meteors to 2111 in the massive win. Viewpoint Sound gets a boost as they jump to 22-24, well ahead of the 22-29 Eastside team they just beat.

IBM Nighthawks Nest, North Modernistic: The Nighthawks end a three-game home stand against fellow bubble team, the Sharpshooters, who have a tough pair of road games ahead. Chris scooped an alright 353 for Capital City, although he would have liked more to strengthen his team's offense. The time off did not help Peach, as the North Modernistic captain hit a paltry 54 this time out. Missy added ample padding to the Sharpshooters lead, pushing 535 in a strong appearance. Luigi made a mess of his turn for the Nighthawks, grabbing only 147 as their situation grows dire halfway through the game. Sprinkles struck a solid 481 for Capital City on her turn, further extending their lead with the effort. Cheddar saved North Modernistic from embarrassment if nothing else, clubbing 848 to get them back in the game with a player each to go. Nicole can only hope her 272 was enough for the Sharpshooters, as it left them with a final of 1641. Bright was not up to the task for the Nighthawks, his 115 hardly justifiable as a comeback attempt as they lose with 1164 total. Capital City gets the critical win to go to 27-28, while North Modernistic is 26-27 after this setback.

Kraft Crowns Park, Royal: The Crowns look to play spoiler in this return home, while the Surfers hope for smooth sailing through the fifth of a six-game road trip. Watermelon did pretty well with setting the tone for Pearl, scoring 566 on the first turn, a good opening performance. Nightfur didn't challenge the lead very much for Royal, hitting just 188 as the hosts face another early deficit. Neopolitan shot back with another good turn for the Surfers, posting 497. Jake fired back with 543 for the Crowns, cutting slightly into the deficit this time at the halfway mark of the game. Boots didn't get as much as she wanted for Pearl, adding 368 to their lead in a decent showing. Kayla couldn't make up any ground for Royal, spraying 335 on a turn that saw her struggle with a wild swing. Wings anted up another 463 for the Surfers at the end, bringing their total output to 1894, which should hold for a win. Hannah seemed to find a groove late in her turn, but it didn't last long, and her 384 put the Crowns at 1450 in the loss. Pearl gets the expected win to go to 23-25, while Royal continues to sink to 14-35, now tied deep in last place.

Microsoft Pitch, Del Sur: The Monarchs have played better of late, and that's not good news for the Tridents, who come in for this game on a bit of a skid. Precious chipped a swing early in her turn, which resulted in a bad hit that stalled her at 131 for Pronger in a nightmarish start. Panda's home struggles are becoming quite pronounced, as he hit just a poor 51 for Southern this time. Zach didn't get a lot more, but he padded the Tridents lead with 329 in hopes of making them slightly stronger. Hoppy covered the deficit nonetheless, swinging her way to 510 as the Monarchs take the lead. Spot retook a small and likely temporary lead for Pronger with his 272, as the visitors continue to be frustrated with their lack of offense. Pounce floated another 529 for Southern on a strong turn, giving them a better lead as the final players come to bat. Potter couldn't dig the Tridents out of this hole, tapping just 177 as they lose with 909 total. Shannon supplied 478 for the Monarchs just for safety, giving them a final of 1568 in the impressive win. Southern is now 20-27, while Pronger falls to 26-24 with the defeat.

Toyota Pitch, Freedom: The Cascades continue with the fifth of a six-game home stand, while the Pilots come to town at the start of a five-game road trip that could sculpt the rest of their season. Valencia had a good game for Golden this time, putting up a solid 456 to begin the game. Jasmine kept things very close for Freedom at the start, slapping 439 on her decent turn. Dusty churned out 664 for the Pilots on her turn, giving them a more solid second chance at the lead. Stinky couldn't reestablish the Cascades on his turn, quickly bowing out at 49 as they've fallen far behind. Strut really made sure Golden's lead was secure, blasting 956 in a great turn to solidify the lead. Roxy couldn't make a sufficient response for Freedom at all, leaving them far short and without much time as she hit 240. A. Charlton supplement the Pilots offense with her 650, bringing their final score to a resounding 2726. Nikolai made a valiant attempt to rally with 521 for the Cascades, but they fell short with 1249 in the loss. Golden rises again to 31-17, while Freedom sinks further to 15-31.

Chevrolet Field, Everton: The Eagles are hungry to move up the standings, and facing a Surfers team in the last game of their six-game road trip might help them do that. Watermelon provided a fairly solid start for Pearl, hitting 418 on her standard turn. Goldy flubbed her turn badly for Everton, scoring a meager 42 when she accidentally flicked a ball too high and out of bounds. Neopolitan made good use of her optional replay for the Surfers after a technical error, using it to slash 590 and boost their lead greatly. Puff III felt the pressure against the Eagles and tried to attack with pace, but crashed at 112 and made things worse halfway through the game. Boots calmly collected another 519 for Pearl, even recovering from a slow start to put the hosts in a panic. Kirstin got beat on a deflection at 287 for Everton, making it highly unlikely they'll come back from this one. Wings suffered an early exit at 101 after a deflection, but the Surfers close their strong offense at 1628. Blizzard gave up a half-decent turn for a technical error replay, but she was flustered and ended on just 41 to give the Eagles 482 in the loss. Pearl rises once more to 24-25, while Everton slips to 30-22.

Coca-Cola Field, Boston: The Swifts put their first-place status on the line as they host the Rockers, who close out their three-game road trip with this big-time game. Misty stepped and made a quick start for Westside with her 542, a firm challenge to the hosts right off the bat. Patches couldn't meet the challenge for Boston, tipping a ball onto her wicket to cut her turn short at 160. Goatee didn't get as much as she wanted for the Rockers on the second attack, ending a bit low at 194. Puff II recovered quite a bit of the deficit with 535 for the Swifts, continuing an impressive run of home form for herself. Midnight accidentally dragged a ball behind her bat, taking her own wicket out with just 267 to leave Westside in a vulnerable position. Gradley did as he usually does, contributing a solid attack of 584 to pull Boston ahead with a player each to go in a still-close game. Slinks fought back with 696 for the Rockers, refusing to let her side go quietly as they end with 1699 total. Sweetheart couldn't meet the challenge, ending on 287 as the Swifts fall with 1566. Westside fells the giants to improve to 35-19 and a tie for third, while Boston is 35-18 in second place again.

HP Field, Midland: The Predators return from their bye week with a doubleheader, first hosting the recently surging Prestige. Acorn looked spent from a somewhat busy week and heavy schedule, producing only 119 at the beginning for Lighton. Shawn hit the ball reasonably well in giving Midland a modest lead with his 345, although he's done better before. Spirit let a ball get away from her, rolling off the end of her bat and out of play to end her turn at a pathetic 16 for the Prestige. Rainmane tapped 337 for the Predators on her turn, doing enough to add onto their lead at the midway point. Twinkie I dealt with some difficult bounces like a seasoned veteran, but couldn't last long enough, giving Lighton 367 in a feeble attempt against the deficit. Leonardo did well to bulk up the lead for Midland, pummeling 764 with pace in a great late-game boost. Salmo picked up 308 for the Prestige at the end, sealing their losing total at 810. Fuchsia made it a quick finish for the Predators, taking 57 to cap their win at 1503. Midland's won four straight at home, rising to 32-20, while halting Lighton at 24-33 with their loss.

Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: The Surfers finally return home after a fruitful road trip, while the Predators head out with hopes of retaining their recent momentum. Shawn had a bit of a drop-off from recent road efforts, assembling 309 for Midland in a modest appearance. Watermelon attacked back with pace and longevity, helping her to slug 890 to give Pearl a big early lead. Rainmane couldn't compete with that, taking one false start and then scoring only 113 for the Predators in a jittery turn. Neopolitan chipped in with 304 for the Surfers, doing enough to keep their lead steady. Leonardo couldn't save the day twice in a row for Midland, bowing out with 245 as it becomes clear they won't get this game. Boots did well for Pearl with 456, her contribution going far to solidify their lead with the final players stepping up to bat. Fuchsia sort of tried to rally for the Predators, collecting 481 but leaving them short at 1148 in the loss. Wings iced the Surfers win with a big 550 individually to put them at 2200 even as a team. Pearl has reached an even record at 25-25, while Midland drops down to 32-21 with this setback.

That's all for this segment of games. We've got just a segment left for Week 26, which will be started (with no promise of finishing) tomorrow after another day of Tournament play.
