UPCL Cricket - Week 26 Part 3

This is the last segment of Week 26, and we begin with...

Subway Field, Stonebridge: The Wolves end their pair of home games against Northeastern opponents when the Lumberjacks finally return to road action. Fluffina made a fairly decent start for Maplewood with her 392, establishing them with a solid lead. Juno showed a stronger side with 546 for Stonebridge, giving them the initial lead in this game. Diddley did enough for the Lumberjacks with his 296 to cover the deficit, keeping them competitive so far. Frosty did far better for the Wolves, extending their lead greatly by smashing 886 at the halfway mark in a great turn. Bryant made an absolute disaster of his turn for Maplewood, getting tangled early and ending with only 8 points. Cobalt contributed another 512 to the Stonebridge offense, further boosting their already-strong lead. Waluigi picked up a weak 194 for the Lumberjacks at the end, icing their loss at 890. Prism exited quickly with 124 for the Wolves, bringing their winning total to 2068 overall. Stonebridge had no trouble in this game, going to 21-31, while Maplewood drops back into last place at 14-36.

Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: The Torpedoes and Pilots meet for the second time this week, with the visitors trying to complete a sweep attempt they started with a win eleven league games ago. Valencia took a bit of an early exit with a high hit that cut her turn off at 207 for Golden. Smudge got a bit less out of her turn as well, besting her sister but just barely with 247 for Infinity for the narrow lead. Dusty attacked back with pace but got beat on a deflection to post 292 for the Pilots. Solaris clobbered 913 for the Torpedoes in response, breaking the game open to give the hosts a big lead. Strut countered with 479 for Golden, putting a bit of a dent in the deficit but not enough to catch up. Whiskers couldn't settle down for Infinity, bailing early on just 36 points after hitting a ball too high. A. Charlton rolled off a massive rally with 912 for the Pilots, bringing their final score to 1890 for the game. Mr. Snowman couldn't do enough with 187 for the Torpedoes, letting them fall at 1383 to end a four-game home winning streak. Golden gets a jump to 32-17 with the sweep, while Infinity drops to 30-22.

Nike Field, Commerce: The Tradewinds are off a big performance, while the Eagles look to get rid of a sour taste in this game. Goldy blasted 918 for Everton, practically doubling their last team outing in one big turn to lead things off on the road. Tigerette immediately fired back with pace for Commerce, knocking 968 to give the hosts a small lead initially. Puff III barely covered the deficit for the Eagles, unable to establish her swing before getting bounced out at 63. Ice Cream ran forward with 614 for the Tradewinds, a great turn to give them a nice lead midway through the game. Kirstin didn't even get close to saving the day for Everton, her 158 leaving them still far short of the target. Lionel kept things steady with an unremarkable 187 for Commerce, but they have a strong lead with a player each to go. Blizzard nearly managed to cover the deficit for the Eagles with 626, but she came up short with their final at 1765. Lorde tapped a pathetic 28 for the Tradewinds to ice their offense at 1797 in the win. Commerce's upset gets them to 23-31, while Everton is 30-23 after the disappointing loss.

The Intel Pitch, Diamond: The Gems make a one-off stop at home for this game, while the Warriors close out a four-game road trip against a cellar-dwelling team. Twilight made good usage of her optional replay for a technical error, getting 545 for Central on the second attempt. A couple of odd bounces left Smokey frustrated as he ended with only 148 for Diamond in a slow start. Dustin countered with a solid 375 for the Warriors, going at a cautious but reasonable pace. Citrus dug in pretty well for the Gems, lining 712 to shrink the deficit significantly at the halfway mark. Mario got a bit too far underneath one of his swings, ending up with 252 for Central as their lead weakens again. Pedey covered the deficit on a nice turn for Diamond, his 431 putting the pressure on the highly-ranked visitors. Gizmo wrangled 447 for the Warriors on his turn, forcing a response from the hosts as his side closes with 1619 overall. Rosalina chipped a nice 359 for the Gems, giving them the upset win at 1650. Diamond's surprise victory gets them to 20-39, while Central leaves frustrated at 31-18 after a brutal road trip.

Samsung Whitewater Stadium, Whitewater: The Shores hope to continue their march up the standings, while the Prestige try to hold on in a tough match. Acorn made things very difficult on the hosts, pummeling 975 for Lighton to lead them off in fantastic form. Bear was held back for Whitewater by a low pace, but his long turn still racked up 624 to keep them in good standing. Spirit answered emphatically with 595 for the Prestige on a surging turn, keeping their lead strong. Twinkie III let the Shores down a bit, dropping 179 as they fall significantly behind. Twinkie I protected the Lighton lead pretty well with 439 on her turn, making it very difficult for the hosts to catch up. Marsell corralled 894 for Whitewater in an excellent turn, but they remain noticeably behind as the final players come to bat. Salmo slapped another 512 for the Prestige at the end, raising their final score to 2521. Shaggy only managed 153 for the Shores, leaving them at 1850 in the loss. Lighton pulled off a critical upset to rise to 25-33, while Whitewater falls back to 25-17 with the defeat.

Google Pitch at Union Ground, Modernistic: The Union return home for a pair of games, while the Wolves set out trying to be spoilers on their two-game road trip. Juno picked up 320 for Stonebridge to open the game against her former team in acceptable form. Ms. Puppy failed at trying to prove a point this time, ending abruptly with 145 for Modernistic in a poor performance. The play continued to get sloppier when the Wolves' Frosty ended with only 60 as a deflection went straight to her wicket. Daisy fired back with 871 for the Union, covering the deficit greatly despite playing at a poor pace for most of the turn. Cobalt couldn't cover the deficit despite a nice turn of 545 for Stonebridge, bringing them fairly close. Puff I slipped up with 98 for Modernistic, another case of trying to stick it to Juno and failing. Prism picked up 252 for the Wolves at the end, covering the deficit to give them 1157 total. Strawberry tapped 271 for the Union, pacing them well enough to win with 1385 total. Modernistic continues to rise to 26-23, while Stonebridge plummets to 21-32 with the loss.

Toyota Pitch, Freedom: The Cascades close up a six-game home stand against their Eastern Hills rivals, the Gems, who are done with division games after this South Mountains Derby rematch. Smokey popped a reasonable 311 for Diamond to lead things off this time. Jasmine made quick work of the deficit for Freedom, drilling 768 to put the hosts well ahead after the first turn. Citrus put in an even sharper challenge for the Gems, ripping 833 to restore their lead. Stinky got off of his recent home slump with 405 for the Cascades, barely covering the deficit at the halfway point. Pedey had a bit of a stumble with 312 for Diamond, unable to keep up with the frenetic pace of this rivalry game. Roxy couldn't take the lead back for Freedom, ending with a meager 162 as the hosts are behind with a player each to go. Rosalina crumbled under pressure, poking 229 for the Gems to set their final score at 1685. Nikolai stood tall with 387 for the Cascades, enough to earn them the win with 1722 total. Freedom's late push gets them to 16-31 on the year, while Diamond is 20-40, with a 2-8 record against their division.

Sprint Pitch, Victoria: The Spurs come back home for a three-game home stand coming out of a bye week, while the Cascades complete their doubleheader with this road game. Jasmine is feeling a bit of travel fatigue with the quick trip, taking only 131 for Freedom to begin the game. Spice couldn't even beat that, showing a bit of rust as the Victoria captain tapped 121 with an unfortunate deflection at the end. Stinky showed a much stronger side of the Cascades, using the second attack to spike 609 for a big lead. Yekaterina didn't do too much worse for the Spurs, her 527 keeping the game close at the halfway mark. Roxy tacked on 523 for Freedom on her turn, mitigating the previous wave of damage from the hosts. B. Chapman couldn't keep up for Victoria, hitting a solid 359 as her side slips a bit behind late in the game. Nikolai provided 585 for the Cascades at the end, firming up their offense at a final score of 1848. Wario had trouble getting balls off the pitch, ending at 139 with a low pace to give the Spurs the loss with 1146 total. Freedom continues to rise to 17-31, while Victoria takes a knock down to 23-29.

GE Stadium, Southridge: The Defenders have not much left to lose as they start a pair of home games against a desperate Nighthawks side on the road for two straight. Peach made a big impact for North Modernistic right at the start, carving out a quick 626 for a good lead. Bianca had a poor outing for Southridge this time, falling with 96 to put her side far behind initially. Luigi was doing pretty well for the Nighthawks until a flurry of offerings cut him down at 348. Debby picked up 587 in response for the Defenders, cutting into the deficit a bit with the strong turn from the hosting captain. Cheddar slugged her way to a massive lead for North Modernistic, rallying with 1078 to give them a much more formidable lead. Stephanie tried to make an attack with pace for Southridge, but crashed out at 280 with a ball that went too high. Bright picked up an extra 313 for the Nighthawks on his turn, setting their final at 2365. Hughbert went with a well-hit 450 for the Defenders, but they took the loss with 1413 overall. North Modernistic is back to even at 27-27, while Southridge sinks again to 21-34.

Samsung Whitewater Stadium, Whitewater: The Bloodbath Derby is set, with the Shores hoping they can get a sweep as each team plays the second game of their respective travel stands. Smokey had a lackluster start to one of the league's bitterest rivalries, hitting only 231 in the lead-off role for Diamond. Bear answered with plenty of confidence for Whitewater, striking 575 to give his side the lead. Citrus did manage to cover the deficit for the Gems, with 405 in a decent outing by the veteran. Twinkie III got almost all of that damage back for the Shores, batting 399 to keep their lead steady. Pedey gave Diamond another deficit-covering turn with 407, but the margin in their favor remains thin. Marsell stepped up with a bit more strength to give Whitewater 600 on his turn, helping solidify their lead a bit. Rosalina tried to make a late push for the Gems, but her 328 left them well short at 1371 overall. Shaggy piled on with 681 for the Shores, the big performance getting them to 2255 in the win. Whitewater bounces back from an earlier loss to get to 26-17, while Diamond sinks to 20-41, inching closer to elimination.

Volkswagen Stadium, Viewpoint Sound: The Meteors wrap up their week-long five-game home stand while hosting a Tradewinds team weary in recent road appearances. Tigerette picked up 335 in an acceptable effort for Commerce, unable to do much even with a technical error replay. Mams crushed a nice 804 for Viewpoint Sound in response, giving her side the initial lead in great form. Ice Cream remained fairly solid for the Tradewinds with her 320, but she also failed to cover the deficit. Hoot destabilized the Meteors lead a bit, his sporadic turn ending quickly at 168 in a poorer outing from the veteran. Lionel pulled Commerce into the lead, covering the deficit with a pacey and bold 484 as things get more interesting later in the game. Nibbles fired back on a big attack of 742 for Viewpoint Sound, reinforcing their lead with a player each to go. Lorde couldn't bring the Tradewinds back this time, her 280 ending their offense at only 1419 in the loss. Dominic tacked on 499 more for the Meteors, giving them 2213 in the win. Viewpoint Sound continues an upward trend, going to 23-24, while Commerce falls to 23-32 with the loss.

Google Pitch at Union Ground, Modernistic: Two hot teams meet in the finale for the week, with the Union holding the high ground against a more desperate Spiders side. Shadow kept his road form in check quite well, hitting a crisp 656 for Web City with pace to give them a substantial first attack. Ms. Puppy continues to dazzle during the Modernistic surge, belting 1103 to give them the lead this time. Ted came down from his recent road pace for the Spiders, getting only 289 this time as they slip behind. Daisy countered well with 548 for the Union, supplementing their lead nicely at the midway mark. Shiny looked to be on a mission for Web City, but a deflection stalled her efforts at 320, not enough to cover the deficit. Puff I clipped another 721 for Modernistic, setting them well on the way to another victory with their high offense. Dani tried to mount a comeback for the Spiders, but her 328 left them with a loss at 1593, unable to rise far enough. Strawberry iced the game with her 324 to give the Union 2696 overall in a big win. Modernistic is now 27-23, while Web City drops to 23-26.

That's all for Week 26 of cricket. The plan for cricket in the near future is to pump out one more segment before the weekend, and potentially but not likely more than that. Week 27 should be done early next week.
