Elite Cricket 2018 - Week 22

We're set to go with Elite's final week of the season. No team in this division has a bye, giving everyone a chance to improve their standing. We begin with...


Cisco Tysini Field, Tysini: The Hummingbirds sit Paps in their return to action, while the Sharpshooters have Sprinkles on the bench after their failed United Cup bid. Chris served up a great 684 for Capital City on the opening turn, putting them well ahead of their rivals initial. Princess didn't get very comfortable for Tysini, falling at 264 on her second try after a false start doomed the first. Missy added 513 for the Sharpshooters on the second attack, the good turn building their lead nicely. Leandra countered with 487 for the Hummingbirds, mitigating the damage at the halfway mark. Lorde fumbled at 195 for Capital City, weakening their lead this time against a desperate opponent. Charli went on the attack with 818 for Tysini, getting them ahead with a player each to go. Pauline forced a response with 366 for the Sharpshooters, setting their final score at 1758. Brownie covered it with 432 for the Hummingbirds, lifting them to a huge win at 2001. Tysini is 23-18 on the year, with a home record of 13-9, while Capital City drops to 32-9 with the loss.


Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: The Sharpshooters make a quick trip back home, sitting Pauline this time, while the visiting Surfers rest their United Cup hero Watermelon. Boots started off fairly well with 385 for Pearl, her pace holding strong throughout the appearance. Chris did better in every way, ending at 705 for Capital City to give them another lead at the start of a game. Neopolitan had a poor swing to end at 147 for the Surfers, unable to cover the deficit. Missy maintained good form with 595 for the Sharpshooters, padding their lead sufficiently at the midway point. Bright only had 203 for Pearl on their next turn, making the deficit grow with another poor effort from the visitors. Sprinkles tacked on 522 for Capital City on her turn, continuing to grow their lead late in the game. Beth had just 126 for the Surfers, securing their loss at a total of 861. Lorde hit 466 for the Sharpshooters, capping a strong win at 2288. Capital City rises again to 33-9, while Pearl drops to 22-21 in the loss.


Nike Field, Commerce: The Tradewinds sit Niki in a nearly must-win game, while the Hummingbirds put their captain Princess on the bench as they seek another step toward the playoffs. Leandra had a modest 286 for Tysini on their first turn, giving the hosts something to aspire for. Tigerette fired back with 495 for Commerce, and she could have had more had she not hit a ball into her stumps. Charli countered with 624 for the Hummingbirds on the second attack, pulling them ahead with the effort. Taylor answered with 506 for the Tradewinds, restoring a smaller lead at the halfway mark. Brownie had a good pace going, but she ended at 351 after a high swing, hurting Tysini's chances. Lionel stepped up with 984 for Commerce, his best game in a long time putting them confidently ahead late in the game. Paps was out of rhythm for the Hummingbirds, collapsing at 51 after multiple deflections, and they lost with 1312. Rosemary contributed 392 for the Tradewinds at the end, securing their win at 2377. Commerce ends up at 19-25, having gone 10-12 at home, while Tysini dips to 23-19 with the loss.


Home Depot Forum, Web City: The Spiders must win to have continue their hopes of staying in Elite, sitting Sugar in this game, while the visiting Union bench a slumping Daisy with hopes to spoil. Ms. Puppy had an ugly start with a meager 64 points for Modernistic on the first turn. Shadow ripped 615 for Web City on their opening turn, putting the hosts far ahead to begin the game. Puff I couldn't get the Union back into the game, taking a poor 72 on her turn. Ted grabbed a decent 415 for the Spiders, doing his part to strengthen the lead for his team. Kodiak tried to get a good turn going, but he had only 25 for Modernistic, continuing their pitiful rendition of the spoiler role. Jack didn't do much with 253 for Web City, but he didn't have to as the hosts remain far ahead at this point. Chimpy gave the Union a bit of respectability with 432, leaving them in a brutal loss at 593. Shiny had 329 for the Spiders at the end, icing their win at 1612. Web City stays in the hunt at 18-25, while Modernistic drops down to 13-30.


McDonald's Pitch at Pirates Park, Atlantic: The Pirates rest Klaus as they try to snag second place, while the Flames' season finale has them with Hannah on the bench and needing a win to make the fight for fourth more interesting. Crystal smashed 981 for Queens at the start, giving the visitors a big starting effort. Delila had very little in response for Atlantic, ending on a sorry 161 as the hosts will play from behind. Violetta faltered at 96 for the Flames, weakening their lead with the bad turn. Isabella seized the opportunity to make a push with 636 for the Pirates, cutting deep into the deficit at the midway point. Briana fought off the danger with 631 for Queens, essentially restoring their previous lead. Steven managed 406 for Atlantic even with a cluttered pitch contributing to his pace cratering sooner than expected. Kyle added 349 for the Flames, hoping a final score of 2057 will be enough. Max had 384 against his former team, leaving the Pirates in a loss at a total of 1587. Queens goes to 24-20 for the year, including 10-12 on the road, while Atlantic slips to 26-17 with a game to go.


Starbucks Cup, Archtown: The Arrows sit their captain Ruby in a must-win game, while the Hummingbirds won't be slacking with Paps returning to the bench for performance issues. Princess went off with 801 for Tysini to begin the game, giving the visitors a great lead at the start. Sally fought back with 504 for Archtown, making a nice dent in the deficit on the initial turn. Leandra slipped at 304 for the Hummingbirds, exposing their lead a bit more than intended. Sleepy B. produced 624 for the Arrows, lightly covering the deficit at the midway mark. Charli pulled Tysini back ahead with 416, giving them a fighting chance in the game. Dusky slipped at 310 for Archtown on her turn, putting them behind as the final players will decide this incredibly close game. Brownie answered with 476 for the Hummingbirds against her sister's team, leaving the visitors at a total of 1997. Wild Thing came up short at 195 for the Arrows, forcing them into one of the relegation spots with the loss at 1633. Tysini is up to 24-19 on the year, while Archtown ends at 18-26 with a home record of 8-14.


Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: The Waves end the year facing the top two teams on the road, sitting Dewey in the first half of the doubleheader; the Sharpshooters bench Lorde this time. Snuggle had 248 for Oceanside on the first turn, a weak start from the captain. Chris answered with 737 for Capital City in an excellent response to give the hosts a solid lead. Celestia couldn't get the Waves back in the fight, ending at only 184 in a brutal turn. Missy hauled in 521 for the Sharpshooters to pad their lead nicely on the second attack. Josie looked good with 442 for Oceanside, but they remain at quite the deficit despite her good turn. Sprinkles avoided danger with 622 for Capital City, giving them another extension on their lead late in the game. Jason V. provided 423 for the Waves at the end, taking the loss with a final score of 1297. Pauline slammed 538 for the Sharpshooters, finishing their win at 2418. Capital City rises to 34-9 on the year, including a home record of 16-6, while Oceanside sinks to 22-21 with the loss.


Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: The Waves end their season with a short trip to finish the doubleheader, resting Snuggle, while Mr. Snowman sits in the first part of the Torpedoes' home doubleheader. Celestia struck 472 for Oceanside to get this game going more positively than the last. Smudge kept Infinity close with 409, as they want this win to help them fight for second place. Josie shot back with 416 for the Waves, a solid output for their second attack. Fluffina buckled at 39 for the Torpedoes in an ugly response, causing the hosts to fall far behind. Dewey knocked 529 for Oceanside in a confident return to action for the sophomore, building their lead up again. Solaris couldn't get Infinity back on track, his shaky turn ending at just 99 points. Jason V. had a decent 312 for the Waves, icing their offense at 1729 for the game. Shelley made a rally with 607 for the Torpedoes, but they came up short at 1154. Oceanside ends the year at 23-21, with a road record of 13-9, while Infinity drops back into a tie for second at 26-17 with a game to go.


Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: It's getting to the end times now, with the Torpedoes benching Fluffina for their finale, while the Union leave Puff I on the bench in their last game. Ms. Puppy made an impact with 439 for Modernistic to open the scoring. Smudge had only 192 for Infinity in response, putting them at a noticeable deficit after the first turn. Daisy added 441 for the Union, keeping them on a similar pace for both turns so far. Solaris pushed back with 501 for the Torpedoes, trying to keep them competitive despite the deficit. Kodiak produced 319 for Modernistic, weakening their lead a little bit with the sub-average appearance. Shelley made progress with 448 for Infinity, unable to have a breakthrough performance as the scores remain close near the end. Chimpy answered with 552 for the Union at the end, giving their lead a late boost to a total of 1751. Mr. Snowman bested his direct opposition with 559, but the Torpedoes came up short at 1700. Modernistic's upset takes them to 14-30, with a road mark of 9-13, while Infinity drops again to 26-18 and a home record of 11-11.


McDonald's Pitch at Pirates Park, Atlantic: The Pirates sit Max needing a win to take second place, but the first-place Sharpshooters stand in their way, with Missy resting in their finale. Chris did not ease up for Capital City, attacking with 610 to open the scoring in fine form. Delila fired back with 722 for Atlantic, a strong response to give the hosts a lead initially. Sprinkles slugged 1618 for the Sharpshooters on the second attack, firmly asserting their lead again. Isabella faltered at 186 for the Pirates, unable to counterattack under the pressure facing her team. Lorde tacked on 353 for Capital City, padding their lead sufficiently for the circumstances. Steven had a good pace going but sent a ball too high, ending his turn at 375 for Atlantic. Pauline finished with 592 for the Sharpshooters, an ample attack to ice their offense at 3173 in the win. Klaus dropped quickly at 69 for the Pirates, ceding the result in their finale with a total of 1352. Capital City rises to finish at 35-9, including a great 19-3 road record, while Atlantic falls to 26-18 with a home record of 10-12. The second place tiebreaker sees the Pirates and Torpedoes split results 2-2, but the Pirates take the position on points.


IBM Nighthawks Nest, North Modernistic: The Nighthawks end a disappointing season at home with Gal on the bench, while the Surfers sit Beth with nothing to play for in their final game. Boots had a simple 336 for Pearl to get things start in this game. Peach chipped a swing for North Modernistic, taking an unfortunate early exit at only 120 points. Watermelon, fatigued still from the United Cup, collapsed at 64 for the Surfers on a tiny second attack. Cheddar exploded with 1481 for the Nighthawks this time, giving them a massive lead in a previously low-scoring battle. Neopolitan shot back with 1012 for Pearl, keeping the visitors in the game with a great counterattack. B. Chapman struck 407 for North Modernistic to protect their lead heading into the final players' turns. Bright fell short of matching the deficit with a paltry 149 for the Surfers, capping their loss at 1561, giving them a road record of 14-8. Luigi hooked 147 for the Nighthawks to finish their win at 2155, making them 8-14 at home. North Modernistic invokes a tiebreaker for 11th at 14-30, while Pearl will be in seventh place at 22-22. The Nighthawks will still finish in 12th, having lost the season series to the rival Union 3-1 in games.


Home Depot Forum, Web City: The Spiders sit Shiny in hopes of forcing a tiebreaker at the relegation line, while the Hummingbirds sit Paps hoping to get into the Hutton Cup to earn promotion. Princess has overcome a tough season to set Tysini up well late, beginning this game with 826. Shadow picked up 359 for Web City at the start, giving them a large deficit to match. Leandra had a modest 337 to keep the lead fairly level for the Hummingbirds. Ted made up some ground with 463 for the Spiders, but the deficit remains quite obvious at the midway mark. Charli remains quite a weapon for Tysini's attack, carving out 690 to boost the lead at a critical point. Sugar hit only 199 for Web City, as it dawns on the home fans of their impending relegation. Brownie continued in her role as enemy of the Northeast, belting 864 to give the Hummingbirds a likely insurmountable total of 2717. Jack went with great pace for the Spiders, but fell at 526, leaving them in a loss at 1547. Tysini is 25-19 (12-10 road) and will move on to the Hutton Cup and next year's Premier season, while Web City drops to 18-26 (10-12 home) and is relegated to a Northeast-heavy Select. Web City is the 9th place team, having won three of four meetings with Archtown.
