United Cup Knockout Stages - Round 1 Leg 1

The United Cup takes center stage this week, beginning with the first legs of Round 1 on Monday and Tuesday. First up...

Amazon Field, Golden: The Pilots, knowing they are off next week, will go full on with A. Charlton sitting, while the Prestige leave Waluigi on the bench as they hope for good things early on. Acorn lacked pace for Lighton on his turn, but managed to put up 408 in a decent starting appearance. Valencia shot back with a pacey 736 for Golden, giving the hosts a nice lead early on. Spirit covered the deficit with 469 for the Prestige, keeping things competitive. Dusty covered it with 518 for the Pilots on her turn, making a marginal gain at the halfway mark. Katelynn tried to make a double-tap play for Lighton, but the ball spun over her bat, ending her turn at 199. Strut managed 312 for Golden, a bit weaker than his usual but enough to keep them ahead late in the game. Nicole made a late push with 695 for the Prestige, capping their offense at 1771. Sparkles played cautiously at first, then exploded for 903 to pad the Pilots win at 2469. Golden leads by 698 heading onto the road in leg two on Wednesday.

Samsung Whitewater Stadium, Whitewater: The Shores have a handful to host, as they bench Marsell, while the visiting Defenders, the Select leaders, have Hughbert on the bench. Bianca served up 479 for Southridge in a productive start to the game for the visitors. Bear kept it really close with 487 for Whitewater on their opening turn, creating a tiny separation between the teams. Debby let the Defenders slip up a bit with her alright 349 on the second attack. Twinkie III had a nightmare outing with only 93 for the Shores, putting them distinctly behind at the midway mark. Stephanie had a sloppy start with two false starts, but then hammered 561 for Southridge on her third attempt. Katharine lost more ground with 432 for Whitewater, who now trail deeply with a player each to go. Caitlin provided 384 for the Defenders at the end, icing the attack at 1773. Shaggy made a push with 475 for the Shores to close their scoring at 1487 in the loss. Southridge holds a lead of 286 points as they return home.

BMW RockDome, Westside: The Rockers can play hard with a Hutton Cup spot clinched, so they'll sit Slinks, while the Waves will also take this seriously by sitting Dewey in leg one. Snuggle poked 266 for Oceanside in a lackluster start from the visiting captain. Misty replied with 352 for Westside, enough to give them the initial lead but not by very much of a margin. Celestia showed a bit more strength for the Waves, lining 609 on the second attack to produce a lead. Goatee couldn't catch up with 361 for the Rockers, causing the hosts to fall behind at the halfway mark. Josie had no pace for Oceanside, crashing out at 124 in an ugly appearance. Midnight fired back with 490 for Westside, getting them back to a competitive level late in the game. Jason V. crashed out at 80 for the Waves, leaving them in a loss with a total of 1079. Cowzart suffered a deflection for the Rockers at 199, putting their small win at 1402, which has Westside ahead by 323 points after one leg.

HP Field, Midland: The Predators go with putting Leonardo on the bench for the first leg, while the visiting Torpedoes sit Mr. Snowman in a tough decision for a hot team. Smudge had a decent start for Infinity, but she couldn't maintain her form and fell at 320 by the end of the turn. Shawn made one stretching stop for Midland, but missed on the next offering and exited with a poor 32. Fluffina fell with 75 for the Torpedoes, unable to solidify their offense in a thus-far pitiful game. Rainmane went off with 576 for the Predators on the second attack, pulling the hosts ahead slightly. Solaris flicked 450 for Infinity, restoring their lead on at least a temporary basis. Americus answered with 353 for Midland, keeping things close as the final players come to bat. Shelley had 585 for the Torpedoes at the end, putting their final score at 1430. Fuchsia slipped at just 64 for the Predators, sticking them with a loss at 1025. Infinity leads by 405 points and hosts leg two as well.

Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: The Blades take their turn at home against a Select foe, sitting Jason N. while the visiting Cascades bench Roxy for this meeting. Jasmine had no pace for Freedom at all, struggling with 174 on the first turn of the game. Snowball answered with a strong 570 for the hosts on their initial turn, creating a fairly noticeable lead. Stinky crushed 1110 for the Cascades on a pacey and long-lasting second attack, giving them an impressive lead. Dreamy slipped up at only 92 for the Blades, causing them to fall behind at the midway mark. Nikolai had a less convincing turn with 270 for Freedom, weakening their lead slightly this time. Bandit lost ground with 250 for Swordpoint, furthering their scoring problems with the bad turn. Stripes failed at 66 for the Cascades, leaving their total at 1620. Stealth made a push with 551 at the end, bringing the Blades to a final score of 1463 in the loss. Freedom heads home with a lead of 157 points against a dangerous foe.

Coca-Cola Field, Boston: The Swifts rest Puff II after a pool appearance, while the Lumberjacks decide to put Gabe on the bench due to recent poor form on the road. Whiskers showed no fear in the face of the top team, hitting 530 for Maplewood before a deflection cut her turn short. Patches bobbled a ball on her bat before sending it just out of play, ending with only 117 for Boston at the start. Diddley failed at a measly 36 for the Lumberjacks in response, leaving them vulnerable. Gradley stormed forward with 731 for the Swifts, putting them ahead at the midway mark. Bryant ripped 743 for Maplewood on his turn, regaining the lead by offsetting the previous damage. Sweetheart picked up 376 for Boston, unable to cover the deficit as they trail heading into the final players' turns. Summer tacked on 476 for the Lumberjacks, ending their offense at a total of 1785. Ice Cream fired back with 706 for the Swifts at the end, raising their total to 1930. Boston travels with a lead of 145 points.

Nestle's Warriors Park, Central: The Warriors face a tough challenge against Elite's top team, the Sharpshooters. Noelle sits for the hosts, while Lorde is out for leg one for the visitors. Chris launched 984 for Capital City on their opening turn, setting a great tone for the rest of the match. Twilight shot back with 742 for Central, keeping them within striking distance should the visitors falter. Missy did not slip for the Sharpshooters, rallying with 872 to greatly extend their lead with a big attack. Dustin lost a chunk of ground with 471 for the Warriors, who are struggling to keep pace so far. Sprinkles flicked 200 for Capital City, showing a bit of fatigue for having to play after a pool appearance. Mario covered some of the deficit with 570 on his turn, keeping the high-scoring theme going. Pauline went at a great pace before a bad swing stalled her at 441 for the Sharpshooters, putting their total at 2497. Wings made a large dent with 672 for the Warriors at the end, giving them a final score of 2455. Capital City leads this thrilling series by only 42 points ahead of their turn at home.

Chevrolet Field, Everton: The Eagles and Surfers wrap up the first legs of round one, with Neopolitan resting for the visitors here while the hosts put Puff III on the bench due to recent form issues. Boots picked up 383 for Pearl initially, a solid but unspectacular performance from the veteran. Goldy answered with 402 for Everton at the start, giving them a slight edge on the first turn. Watermelon gave the Surfers a much bolder lead with 959 on the second attack, continuing her United Cup success. Cleo had only 224 for the Eagles, causing them to fall far behind at the halfway point. Bright took a solid 455 for Pearl, adding nicely to their large lead. Kirstin kept things the same for Everton, taking 448 on her turn to prevent the deficit from growing too much. Beth cranked another 845 for the Surfers at the end of the game, giving them a big win at 2642, one of the most dangerous teams in the competition. Blizzard stumbled at 110 for the Eagles, a lack of pace causing her team to lose with 1184. Pearl leads by 1458 with their home match left.

That's all for this part of the first round. Second legs will be played tomorrow during the Tournament administrative break following today's completion of the first round in that sport as well.
