This is the last post for the regular season in cricket. After today's efforts, the Hutton Cup will begin following an administrative weekend, with sixteen teams battling it out for the UPCL's grandest prize. We begin with...
Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The Knights look to act as spoilers with Quincy on the bench ahead of a busy final week, while the Warriors sit Mario in a crucial tone-setting game. Twilight went with 286 for Central on the opening turn, lacking pace in her opening turn of the game. Kiwi, due for a rest in the next game for Terrace City, hit an awful 49 in response as the hosts fall behind. Dustin stepped up to smash 913 for the Warriors on the second attack, strengthening their lead greatly. Jennifer shot back with 487 for the Knights, but they remain noticeably behind at the midway mark. Wings provided another 874 for Central, boosting their lead again with the strong appearance. Oreo grabbed 591 for Terrace City on this appearance, trying to keep them competitive despite the growing deficit. Noelle did well with 535 for the Warriors at the end, capping their offense at 2608. Melissa managed 288 for the Knights, suffering the loss at 1415. Central is up to 19-21, while Terrace City drops to 14-26 with the loss.
HP Field, Midland: The Predators and Eagles jostle for position in this game, with Americus sitting for the hosts while Kirstin is out for the visitors in their road finale. Goldy had an accidental double-tap on one of her swings, ending at 129 as it soared sky-high. Shawn fired back with a decent 352 for Midland, enough to earn a lead for the hosts after the first turn. Puff III had a much better 513 for the Eagles to pull them ahead on the second attack. Rainmane regained the lead for the Predators with 393 on her turn, but the lead has shrunk a bit. Cleo kept Everton on the attack with an intimidating 663, pulling them farther ahead than before. Leonardo stumbled with only 126 for Midland, keeping them at a deficit heading into the final players' turns. Blizzard lifted 272 for the Eagles at the end, giving them a final score of 1577. Fuchsia got caught out of position and ended on a paltry 128 for the Predators, sealing their loss at 999. Both teams are now 21-22 on the year, with the Eagles ending their road schedule at 8-14.
Henry Ford Memorial Stadium, Pronger: Both teams sit their captains in this one, with Precious getting much-needed rest, while Kiwi's rest comes from a pool appearance. Jennifer hammered 744 for Terrace City on the initial turn, a great performance from the lead-off role. Zach kept it relatively close with 630 for Pronger, not allowing his team to go quietly. Oreo couldn't block a fast offering, tipping it off her wicket to end at a mediocre 243 for the Knights. Spot fired back with 624 for the Tridents, giving them a distinct lead halfway through the game. Melissa misplayed a subtle bounce, crashing out at 51 for Terrace City as their deficit grows larger on every turn. Potter tacked on 595 for Pronger with a fantastic attack, growing their lead significantly. Quincy ended up with 145 for the Knights, leaving them at a loss with 1183. Lize took it easy, poking 181 for the Tridents at the end, giving them a win on 2030. Pronger is up to 17-25, while Terrace City dips again to 14-27, making a last place finish highly likely.
Nestle's Warriors Park, Central: The Warriors play their road finale without their captain Twilight in the lineup, one win away from clinching, while the Stills sit Anton in a must-win game. Easter put up 368 at the start for Todavía, hoping it will be a good start for the visitors. Dustin did not take advantage of a rare chance to lead off, stumbling with 105 for Central in an ugly first turn. Sierra answered with 415 for the Stills in a productive second attack. Mario went off with 1191 for the Warriors, continuing to show growth late in the season. Bells shot back with 705 for Todavía, regaining the lead on a great attack. Wings fired back with 635 for Central, keeping them ahead with a player each to go. Prism couldn't hold on for the Stills at the end, her 240 confirming their relegation at a loss with 1728, including a 7-15 road record for the year. Noelle stayed calm with 305 for the Warriors at the end, winning with 2236 and a home record of 12-10. Central rises to 20-21, safely in the Hutton Cup, while Todavía drops out at 17-26.
HP Field, Midland: The Predators go without their captain in their season finale, as Shawn joins Swifts captain Patches on the bench in this game. Puff II didn't ease up even with Boston firmly entrenched in the #1 seed, slugging 1001 to give them a big lead over a regional rival. Rainmane attacked with stunning pace for Midland, but a bad swing took her out at 595. Gradley answered with 392 for the Swifts, unable to restore the lead to its full strength on the second attack. Leonardo had 416 for the Predators, making a minor gain after missing two consecutive swings at the end. Sweetheart kept things pretty steady with 426 for Boston, maintaining their lead. Americus managed a rally with 647 for Midland, cutting into the deficit again with the great turn. Ice Cream batted 463 for the Swifts to close their offense at 2282. Fuchsia couldn't make the comeback, her 368 leaving the Predators at a loss with 2026. Boston is up to 36-7 on the year, ending their road schedule at 17-5, while Midland finishes at 21-23 for the year and 12-10 at home.
Samsung Whitewater Stadium, Whitewater: The Shores are a win away from clinching the last Hutton Cup spot, sitting Bear, while the Blades have Bandit on the bench in their season finale. Snowball had a rough turn with 225 for Swordpoint to get this game going. Twinkie III answered with 544 in a turn at lead-off for Whitewater, giving the hosts a nice lead. Dreamy had a slow pace for the Blades in this game, ending at 153 as she failed to cover the deficit. Marsell had only 173 for the Shores, adding a small amount to their lead at the midway point. Stealth tacked on 291 for Swordpoint, again failing to produce a breakout attack on offense. Katharine picked up 424 for Whitewater, extending their lead mildly again late in the game. Jason N. had a poor 200 for the Blades, confirming their loss at 869 to give them a road record of 11-11 for the year. Shaggy struck 631 for the Shores as the crowd erupted in excitement for their team's securing the last Hutton Cup spot with a win on 1772. Whitewater is up to 20-23 with a game to go, while Swordpoint ends at 25-19.
Apple Park, Todavía: The Stills have their season finale, now knowing they will be relegated, as they sit Bells in their finale, while the visiting Knights have Oreo on the bench. Kiwi had a messy 74 for Terrace City on the opening turn, giving them a difficult starting position. Easter fired back with a timid 343 for Todavía, showing hesitation to build up a better pace. Jennifer dipped down with 246 for the Knights on the second attack, unable to cover the deficit with her rough outing. Sierra countered with 559 for the Stills, getting a favorable play on call from the referee in the middle of her turn. Melissa didn't help Terrace City's counterattack at all with a meager 145, keeping them at a steep deficit. Prism unleashed 927 for Todavía on her turn, a massive performance to likely cement their lead. Quincy took a decent 304 for the Knights, but they had a hard loss at a total of 769. Anton supplied 609 for the Stills at the end, capping a massive win at a total of 2438. Todavía ends the year at 18-26 with a home record of 11-11, while Terrace City will finish in last place, currently at 14-28 with two games to go.
Coca-Cola Field, Boston: The Swifts wrap up their season at home with Gradley resting after a pool appearance, while the Tridents captain Precious does the same. Zach got knocked around for Pronger in his turn, hitting 194 in a rare lead-off appearance for the third-year star. Patches casually struck back with 663 for Boston, giving them a strong lead right from the start of the game. Spot lifted his third swing too high and crashed out at 48 for the Tridents, who are putting up almost no fight in this game. Puff II also struggled with 39 for the Swifts, but their lead is not yet in any danger. Potter briefly showed some effort for Pronger, but his pace cratered with some bad swings and he ended at 153. Sweetheart hooked her swing late in the turn to end at a mediocre 201 in a rather low-scoring effort for Boston. Lize poked 224 for the Tridents at the end, leading the team but in a harsh loss at 619 to end their road schedule at 9-13. Ice Cream exploded for 1044 at the end for the Swifts, a great way to end a great season for the team with a win at 1947, good for a 20-2 home record. Boston ends at 37-7 for the year, while Pronger dips to 17-26.
Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The Knights meet the Warriors again this week, with Melissa sitting for the hosts and the visitors benching Noelle despite her decent efforts so far. Twilight had a reasonable 408 for Central, leading off well for the visitors as they jockey for position. Kiwi looked more comfortable in this game, attacking with 943 to give Terrace City a realistic shot at being spoilers. Dustin answered with 640 for the Warriors to cover the deficit on the second attack. Jennifer found 860 for the Knights to counter that, giving the hosts an even larger lead at the halfway mark. Mario buckled at 138 for Central this time, unable to even approach the deficit. Oreo took 319 for Terrace City, continuing to grow their lead late in the game despite an unremarkable score. Wings lined 499 for the Warriors, but it was far from enough to save them from the loss at 1685. Quincy didn't match it with 454 for the Knights, but he iced their win at 2576, included in their 6-16 home record. Terrace City moves to 15-28 overall, while Central slide back to 20-22 on the year.
Henry Ford Memorial Stadium, Pronger: Zach sits out the season finale for the soon-to-be relegated Tridents, while the Warriors bench Mario after a down performance in the last game. Twilight couldn't do much better this time with 368 for Central, the long week wearing down the captain. Precious couldn't quite catch up with 304 for Pronger on their first attack, creating a small deficit. Dustin struggled initially, but managed to up his pace to record 392 for the Warriors by the end of his turn. Spot fired back with 554 for the Tridents, putting them ahead with the strong turn at the midway mark. Wings countered with 755 for Central, regaining control of the lead with a hefty haul. Potter had to revert to a backhand play, which failed him and left him with 129 as Pronger slips behind late in the game. Noelle refused to go quietly for the Warriors, pummeling 986 on her turn to cap their likely victory at 2501. Lize stayed quiet with 225 for the Tridents, taking another brutal loss at 1212. Central rises to 21-22 for the season, while Pronger ends at 17-27, including 8-14 at home. The Stills will finish in 9th place this season, while a tiebreaker for 10th place between the Tridents and Volcanoes goes to the Volcanoes in a 4-0 season series sweep.
Chevrolet Field, Everton: Plenty of firepower is stuck on the bench for rest, as the visiting Knights give Jennifer a well-earned break, while the Eagles sit Cleo due to a pool appearance. Kiwi had great pace for Terrace City at the start of the game, but a somewhat short turn ended in her scoring 480. Goldy shot back with 663 for Everton, putting them ahead initially. Oreo knocked 561 to put the Knights ahead again after a good second attack. Puff III kept the Eagles on the attack with 669, boosting their lead midway through the game. Melissa took 241 for Terrace City, patching the deficit more than anything else. Kirstin replied with 404 for Everton on her attack, giving their lead a bit more strength late in the game. Quincy collapsed at 179 for the Knights, leaving them in a loss with 1461 for a road record of 9-13 on the year. Blizzard ripped 506 for the Eagles at the end, giving them a win on 2242 and a home record of 14-10. Everton ends the year at 22-22, the current front-runners for 4th place, while Terrace City ends at 15-29.
Samsung Whitewater Stadium, Whitewater: If the Bear-less Shores win, there will be a three-way tie for 5th, but if the Warriors prevail without Wings, ties for 4th and 7th will have to be decided. Twilight faltered at 144 for Central, unable to produce more to get her side started. Twinkie III made a good first impression with 608 for Whitewater, giving them a large lead on the first turn. Dustin made a counterattack with 506 for the Warriors, enough to lightly cover the deficit for now. Marsell got most of that back with 495 for the Shores, keeping them firmly ahead at the halfway point. Mario fired back with 690 for Central, keeping the visitors in the fight with the blistering attack. Katharine lost a little ground, but maintained a lead for Whitewater with 528 heading into the final players' turns. Noelle picked up 292 for the Warriors to give them a total of 1632, which technically forces a response. Shaggy fought it off with 298 for the Shores, putting them in a win with 1929. Both teams end at 21-23, triggering the three-way tiebreaker as the Eagles take 4th and the Rockers take 8th. Whitewater finished at 12-10 at home, while the Warriors went 9-13 on the road.
In the remaining tiebreaker, the Predators take 5th place, having gone a perfect 8-0 against the Warriors and Shores. The Warriors take 6th place with a 3-5 record against the involved teams, while the Shores are 7th at 1-7 in the tiebreaker. Administrative duties will be performed this weekend, with the Hutton Cup likely to begin on Monday.
