Elite Cricket 2019 - Week 7

Elite is back for their last week before the United Cup break, playing Tuesday-Thursday. First up...

Verizon Field, Pacific: The Volcanoes give their captain Starlight rest after her pool appearance, while Stephanie sits for the Defenders for the same reason. Bianca flipped 584 for Southridge on the opening turn, a good effort for the youngster. Ms. Kitty cranked 804 in response for Pacific, pulling them noticeably ahead on the first turn. Debby answered with 476 for the Defenders, enough to cover the deficit for now. Twinkie I responded with 844 for the Volcanoes, keeping the hosts hot at the halfway mark. Wario slipped at 209 for Southridge, unable to challenge the hosts this time. Leonette posted 529 for Pacific to give their lead another upward nudge. Caitlin did well with 665 for the Defenders, but they still lost with 1934. Cowzart poked 207 for the Volcanoes, icing their win at 2384. Pacific jumps to 7-5, while Southridge tumbles to 1-14 despite the good effort.

Apple Park, Todavía: The Stills will go without Sierra in this game, while the visiting Knights have Jennifer taking regular rest after her pool appearance. Kiwi had a good pace but a bit of a short turn in tallying 400 for Terrace City. Ruby answered with 596 for Todavía, giving the hosts the initial lead in this T-Line Derby match. Oreo shot back with 523 for the Knights, keeping them in the battle with a fervent second attack. Bells lacked pace primarily for the Stills, her 272 causing them to fall behind at the midway point. Quincy wasted the chance to build up the lead for Terrace City, producing a meager 85 points. Easter gained ground with 416 for Todavía, pulling the hosts ahead once again as the final players step up to bat. Melissa went with a rally, hauling in 636 for the Knights to give them a total of 1644. Prism countered effectively with 441, earning the Stills a win with 1725 total. Todavía's upset lifts them to 5-7, while Terrace City slips again to 10-6, losing ground in a crowded race at the top.

Sony Stadium, Queens: The Flames and Defenders renew their Castle Derby rivalry, with the hosts sitting Briana and the visitors missing Bianca. Debby had a rough first turn with only 240 for Southridge, putting them in a rough position right from the start. Crystal failed to make an impact for Queens, edging them ahead with her 263 in a cagey start to the rivalry game. Stephanie returned to the Defenders lineup with a fresh burst of energy, smacking 682 on their second attack. Violetta made another marginal addition to the Flames lead with her 717. Wario shook out 527 for Southridge, again challenging the hosts to match his play. Mario lost ground against his friend and rival, hitting only 355 for Queens as they'll have a deficit to overcome. Caitlin added on with 562 for the Defenders, giving them a good chance at the win against their rivals as they close with 2011. Hannah fell short with 346 for the Flames, leaving them at only 1681 in the loss. Southridge is up to 2-14 with the surprise win, while Queens stumbles to 6-5.

Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The Knights close out Tuesday's game with Quincy on the bench, while the Cascades sit Stripes for rest after her pool appearance. Jasmine started out very casually, but ended up belting 977 for Freedom on the opening turn. Kiwi had more pace but took a much shorter turn with a decent 464 for Terrace City to halve the deficit. Roxy lost the momentum for the Cascades, picking a mild 218 as their lead weakens. Jennifer chipped away at the deficit with 509 for the Knights, getting them closer at the midway point. Nikolai dropped off with 176 for Freedom, facing a bit of fatigue himself as he was not selected for rest. Oreo jammed a swing too early and ended up with 320 for Terrace City, making more progress to create a close finish. Stinky delivered 472 for the Cascades at the end, giving them a total of 1843. Melissa couldn't meet the challenge, her 214 leaving the Knights at another loss with 1507. Freedom is perfect on the road and 5-5 overall, while Terrace City slumps to 10-7.

Verizon Field, Pacific: The Flames begin a three-game road trip while giving Violetta some rest, while Leonette takes rest after her pool appearance. Crystal couldn't get much for pace for Queens, falling at a mild 314 on their first turn. Starlight answered with 361 for Pacific, also lacking pace at times as this game starts off close. Briana raised the stakes with 529 for the Flames on their second attack, giving them a more confident lead. Ms. Kitty got a lot of it back with 456, but the Volcanoes now trail slightly at the halfway point. Mario missed a swing and ended with 263 for Queens, the mediocre outing endangering their lead. Twinkie I couldn't push the issue with a middling 245 for Pacific, although it's still anyone's game. Hannah, with a game off ahead, appeared to check out early with a measly 39 points for the Flames, who are at 1145 in an ugly game regardless of result. Cowzart whacked 467 for the Volcanoes to ice their win at 1529. Pacific has won five straight at home to get to 8-5, while Queens dips to 6-6 with the defeat.

Kraft Crowns Park, Royal: The Defenders play their second Castle Derby game of the week, with Wario sitting this one out, while Kayla will sit for regular rest. Bianca started out with good swings, but took a fall at a meager 80 points to give Southridge an awful start. Jake, making a rare lead-off appearance, delivered 472 for Royal to stake out the initial lead. Debby got the Defenders on track with her 729 on the second attack, challenging the hosts a little bit. Nightfur won the duel between captains, pummeling 874 on her turn to restore the lead for the Crowns. Stephanie couldn't cover the deficit with 384 for Southridge. Brownie gladly covered that damage with 426 for Royal, giving them the inside track to a victory with one turn left. Caitlin made a valiant effort to rally with 587, but the Defenders will likely lose with a total of 1780. Cassie quickly grabbed 313 for the Crowns to assure them of the win with 2085. Royal rises to 3-10, while Southridge remains far behind at 2-15.

Pepsi Prestige Park, Lighton: The Flames begin a road doubleheader with Hannah taking her turn on the bench, and Nicole will take a turn on the sidelines for the Prestige. Crystal looked much more in form this time, crushing 819 for Queens to open the scoring. Acorn had the pace to make a response, but a high hit ended his turn at 270 for Lighton, who will play from behind. Violetta added 460 on the second attack for the Flames, an acceptable effort in her return to the lineup. Citrus fired back with 759 for the Prestige, cutting into the deficit to make things interesting. Briana exploded for 1755 for Queens on her turn, her second massive road effort of the season. Spirit, a bit fatigued from her own pool appearance, hit only 146 under pressure as it appears Lighton is set to lose. Mario tacked on 577 for the Flames, sealing their offense at 3611 in a likely win. Shiny fell at a quick 211 for the Prestige, confirming their loss with 1386. Queens is back over .500 at 7-6, while Lighton slides to 4-6.

AT&T Oceanside Stadium, Oceanside: One of the league's newest and bitterest rivalries renews as the Flames end a doubleheader while sitting Mario and the Waves have Dewey on their bench. Crystal chopped 611 for Queens to get this United Derby game going. Snuggle got 465 back for Oceanside on their first turn, keeping things close. Violetta lost control with a high swing at 308 for the Flames, weakening their lead on the second attack. Celestia charged with 664 for the Waves, pulling them ahead at the halfway mark. Briana took only 112 for Queens, apparently gassed after her big outing last time. Josie faded with 209 for Oceanside, potentially leaving them exposed heading into the final turn. Hannah managed 410 for the Flames, forcing the hosts to respond to a final score of 1441. Jason V. locked it down with 577 for the Waves, giving them a total of 1915. Oceanside continues to pace Elite play at 11-3, while Queens is 7-7 on the year.

Pepsi Prestige Park, Lighton: Nicole sits again for the Prestige in another rest from a pool appearance, while the Crowns begin a doubleheader with Jake taking overdue rest. Kayla picked up 472 for Royal on the opening turn. Acorn has faded in recent games, this time managing 321 as Lighton will start at a slight deficit. Nightfur doubled up the Crowns offense with 470 on her turn, a valuable addition to their lead. Citrus tried to assemble a rally for the Prestige, but ended up with a decidedly pedestrian 407, losing ground at the halfway point. Brownie went off with 906 for Royal on her turn, strengthening their lead quite a bit. Spirit countered with 635 for Lighton to limit the damage, but they remain noticeably behind. Cassie clubbed 742 more for the Crowns at the end, icing their offense at 2590. Shiny couldn't do enough, ending at 220 as the Prestige lose with 1583 total. Royal is heating up to 4-10, while Lighton's lengthy home failures have them down to 4-7.

Kraft Crowns Park, Royal: The Crowns finish a doubleheader at home, allowing Brownie rest despite her big game last time out, while the Surfers are sitting Bright in the third of a six-game road trip. Watermelon set the tone with 868 for Pearl, challenging the hosts immediately. Kayla lacked success at home with only 193 on their first turn, giving Royal a large deficit. Boots wrapped up a pacey 519 for the Surfers on the second attack, giving their lead a quick jolt. Jake tried to match that intensity, but ended up missing a swing to end with 361 for the Crowns. Neopolitan extended Pearl's lead with another 500 points, keeping them firmly in control. Nightfur didn't push much for Royal, her 281 likely signaling their acceptance of a loss. Beth tacked on a solid 449 for the Surfers, capping their offense at 2336. Cassie pushed back with 497 for the Crowns, but they never stood a chance, losing with 1332. Pearl rises to 8-4, in a tie for second in the division, while Royal dips back to 4-11.

Sony Stadium, Queens: Jennifer is forced to take a game off for the Knights again, while the Flames are set to sit Crystal at the end of their five-game week. Kiwi popped 503 quickly for Terrace City at the start, setting the visitors off to a good start. Violetta cranked out 560 for Queens, giving the hosts a narrow lead after the first turn. Oreo kept the pace fairly consistent with 521 for the Knights, sending the pressure back to the hosts. Briana raised the stakes with 605 for the Flames, giving their lead a small addition. Quincy stumbled at 184 for Terrace City, taking them a step back in the game. Mario answered with 392 for Queens, protecting their lead heading into the final turn. Melissa let the Knights down with a measly 80 on her turn, confirming their loss at 1288 as their losing streak stretches to six games. Hannah chipped in 274 to cap the Flames offense at 1831. Queens' rough week, in which they went 2-3, has them at 8-7, rapidly approaching the now 10-8 Terrace City that's skidded out of the promotion zone.

Toyota Pitch, Freedom: The hosts play their second game of the week with Roxy returning to the bench, while the Tradewinds give Niki regular rest. Tigerette started with a calm pace but gradually increased to pound 733 for Commerce at the start of the game. Jasmine went with a bold attacking plan, which backfired on a high hit that downed her at 144 for Freedom. Solaris was sharp with 662 for the Tradewinds to boost their lead on the second attack. Nikolai hauled in 475 for the Cascades, giving them a bit more of a competitive look despite the deep deficit. Taylor S. had 341 for Commerce, causing their offensive pace to take a step back. Stripes couldn't combat that very well with 260 for Freedom, losing a bit more ground with a player each to go. Rosemary returned from her game off with 150 for the Tradewinds, a weak performance that caps their attack at 1886. Stinky made a push with 509 for the Cascades, but they still lost with 1388. Commerce is up to 9-6 while Freedom drops to 5-6 entering the United Cup break.

That's all for this week in Elite. Qualifiers, under league monitoring, is next on Thursday, with Premier playing Friday thru Sunday.
