Qualifiers 2019 - Day 11

We'll reach the one-third mark and the completion of the 9-ball majority era today. First up...

Harrison Specters sophomore Rudolph uses the red cue for 10-ball. Rudolph performed quite well with 14 shots, one error, and a ball on the break in the day's first game. Southridge Defenders veteran Stephanie plays 12-ball with the red cue in the next game. Stephanie lacked a plan after making two balls on the break, adding three errors in her 25 shots to complete a challenging game. The first finale goes as Whitewater Shores rising star Marsell plays Accuracy with the silver cue. Marsell had nothing on the break and one error for a scratch, and finished the game with 20 shots. He had 181 shots and 18 errors in total, and there are still fifteen players left to debut. Following that, the Pearl Surfers' Boots shoots 8-ball with the red cue. Boots would not be stopped here, clearing the table in 15 shots with no errors after getting two balls down on the break. At the back of the group, Ice Cream of the Boston Swifts plays 9-ball with the silver cue. Ice Cream had a good outing despite an empty break, needing only 11 shots without an error in this game.

Group two gets going with the Atlantic Pirates' Isabella using the red cue for 13-ball. Isabella made two balls on the break and managed to keep control throughout the game to avoid errors. She finished with 23 shots in a strong performance. More 13-ball with the red cue is next as Eastside Sharks rookie Taylor M. steps up to play. Taylor M. made a ball on the break and quickly navigated the stripes suit, but took her time at the end and had 24 shots with two errors. The Todavía Stills star Sierra gets the eighth game today, using the blue cue in 12-ball. Sierra played a smart game, making two balls on the break and taking only one error. She could have attacked stronger at the end, but finished with 22 shots anyway. Archtown Arrows newcomer A. Charlton is up for 10-ball with the blue cue. Charlton had nothing on the break and took an early error, but settled down to finish at 15 shots. Heading into a lunch break, the Commerce Tradewinds' Taylor S. plays 8-ball with the silver cue. Taylor had a ball on the break, but she missed a few shots, needing 22 shots with no errors to complete the game.

Taylor M. will make her second appearance for the Sharks to start the third group, playing Rotation with the blue cue. Taylor M. had three errors after an empty break, but still finished with 26 shots in a solid outing. Southridge Defenders veteran Caitlin is next up with the red cue in hand for 12-ball. Caitlin made a ball on the break and cleared the rack in 17 shots without an error, using some brilliant shooting early in the game. The Maplewood Lumberjacks' Bryant takes the next game, using the silver cue for 13-ball. Bryant chipped his way to 23 shots and two errors after an ugly start to the game gave way to a strong finish. Royal Crowns veteran Kayla has the 14th game today, playing 15-ball with the silver cue. Kayla had a fair amount of luck on her side after an empty break, limiting herself to two errors and finishing with 28 shots. Closing the group, Eastside Sharks captain Graham plays 9-ball with the blue cue. Graham had a ball on the break and received some easy shots in his 11-shot and no error effort.

Batch four opens with Kodiak of the Modernistic Union playing 8-ball with the blue cue. Kodiak had a decent game going, but he scratched as he made the 8, giving him 30 shots and six errors for the critical foul. Kayla returns, as the Crowns veteran finishes second for speed by playing Accuracy with the silver cue. Kayla had a strong game despite an empty break, making twelve shots in a row before an error. She finished with 18 shots in the game for 170 overall, taking only 9 errors in qualifying. The Todavía Stills' Easter plays next, using the blue cue in 10-ball. Easter had a poor distribution from the break, leading to her lone error early on and forcing her to take 18 shots to finish the appearance. Moving along, the Midland Predators' Fuchsia plays 12-ball with the red cue. Fuchsia showed excellent command on her turn, needing just 17 shots with no errors and a ball on the break. The 20th game of the day belongs to Terrace City Knights sophomore Quincy, who has the red cue up for 8-ball. Quincy had a scratch on the break, but settled in to finish with a perfectly average 22 shots by the end.

The fifth group leads off with Brownie of the Royal Crowns using the red cue in 13-ball. Brownie had nothing on the break and took a pair of errors early on, but quietly surged to finish the game with only 20 shots. The Specters' Rudolph returns for his second game of the day, using the blue cue in 12-ball. Rudolph's break was empty, and he had one error over 21 shots in a fairly good game for the sophomore. Capital City Sharpshooters captain Chris goes next with the red cue in play for 10-ball. Chris had a rough break and quickly took his lone error. He wasn't crisp at the end either, finishing with 17 shots in a passable outing. Another captain is the 24th player drawn today, as the Westside Rockers' Misty plays 9-ball with the blue cue. Misty didn't have a great time with shooting, but she kept the 9 close to the top right and buried it on a 2-9 combination to end with 7 shots and no errors. More 9-ball finishes this bunch, as the Terrace City Knights captain Kiwi plays in the event with the silver cue. Kiwi regressed hard after her rare performance last time, taking four errors and 20 shots in this appearance.

The run of captains spills into group six, as the Maplewood Lumberjacks' Diddley does 12-ball with the red cue. Diddley had a ball on the break and took two errors in 24 shots for a fairly standard performance. More 12-ball follows with the 27th game of the day, as the Golden Pilots' Dusty plays the event with the blue cue. Dusty had a ball on the break and fantastic pace initially, but her good positioning went to waste with sloppy shooting, giving her two errors and 24 shots for the game. A season debut is up for Commerce Tradewinds sophomore Rosemary, who shoots 7-ball with the silver cue. Rosemary had nothing on the break and a slow start before rallying to end with 10 shots and no errors. Diamond Gems newcomer Shadow jumps in to play 8-ball with the red cue next. Shadow made no mistake with two balls on the break, and then followed up with just 14 shots and no errors to finish the effort in excellent form. More 8-ball with the red cue ices the batch, as Kirstin of the Everton Eagles makes her second qualifying appearance. Kirstin completed the effort in 22 shots with no errors, but she was far less exciting to watch than Shadow.

The seventh set kicks off with Melissa of the Terrace City Knights playing 13-ball with the blue cue. Melissa had nothing on the break, and ended up taking two errors over 26 shots as she maneuvered through a tough game. More 13-ball is on the way with Infinity Torpedoes veteran Shelley, who plays with the silver cue. Shelley fired off an empty break as well, and she had three errors for contact fouls over her 26 shots, saving the game with quick positioning at the end. The 33rd player drawn today is the Diamond Gems' Katelynn, who will use the silver cue to play 12-ball. Katelynn had a pair of balls on the break and rapidly approached the finish, taking her only error late, and then closing with 18 shots. Modernistic Union third-year Daisy plays 10-ball with the blue cue. Daisy made the most of this performance, potting a ball on the break and needing only 13 shots to clear the table with no errors. Rounding out the group, Pearl Surfers co-captain Neopolitan plays 9-ball with the silver cue. Neopolitan delivered a brilliant jump shot double-kiss to pot the 2 at the bottom left, fueling her run in 11 shots and no errors despite an empty break.

The Gems' Katelynn gets a second game today at the head of group eight, playing 13-ball with the blue cue. Katelynn struggled with the break as many have today, and she took three errors over 26 shots, prioritizing position over speed. The silver cue is back in action in the 37th game today, as Oceanside Waves third-year Dewey plays 10-ball. Dewey had an empty break and three errors to weigh his score down as he finished with 19 shots. Up next, the Specters' Rudolph greedily takes a third game today, shooting 13-ball with the blue cue. Rudolph didn't make anything on the break, but he played well overall, finishing with 19 shots and only one error near the end. Modernistic Union captain Ms. Puppy is ready to go with the red cue in 9-ball. Ms. Puppy cranked a ball down on the break and then found good fortune with some chaotic shots, ending with no errors and 12 shots for the game. Wrapping up the group, the Tysini Hummingbirds' Paps plays 9-ball with the silver cue. Paps made two balls on the break, but also negated that advantage with two errors, sticking him at 12 shots at the end.

The ninth group is fronted by Bright of the Pearl Surfers, who plays 13-ball with the red cue. Bright had a ball on the break and took only one error in 23 shots to complete a solid game. Another 13-ball game sees the Swordpoint Blades' Dreamy take to action with the silver cue. Dreamy seemingly left her sense behind after making a ball on the break, taking two avoidable errors, but she secured the game at 23 shots in a good push at the end. The blue cue gets in on the 13-ball fun with the Central Warriors' Noelle taking her turn. Noelle couldn't make a ball on the break, and she somehow avoided errors over 33 shots in a very sloppy performance otherwise. The blue cue stays in action for 10-ball with Noelle's Warriors teammate, Wings. It didn't go so well, as he came close but empty on the break and then took one error and a ton of unnecessary misses over 19 shots to finish the effort. The 45th game today goes to a third Warrior, the rookie Andrew, who plays 9-ball with the silver cue. Andrew made a mess of two balls going down on the break, needing 18 shots and two errors to get out of the game.

The last group commences with the Freedom Cascades' Stripes trying 9-ball with the red cue. Stripes went hunting and found the 1-9 combination to the top right to end her game with 2 shots and no errors in a quick appearance. The Gems' Katelynn takes a third appearance today, using the silver cue in Rotation. Katelynn smashed three balls down on the break, and then kept it up, her only two errors over 18 shots coming on an intentional play in one of the event's best games this year. Following that, Katharine of the Whitewater Shores plays 9-ball with the red cue. Katharine took the first perfect game in 9-ball, sending the 9 to the bottom side to end with 0 shots and zero errors. The Stills' Easter comes back for a second game today, playing 12-ball with the silver cue. Easter will regret mostly everything from this appearance, with 31 shots and one error after an empty break. Finally, the Surfers' Boots makes her second appearance today, using the red cue in 9-ball. Boots took a commanding stance and made a ball on the break before finishing with 13 shots and no errors in the game.

We'll finish up the second full week of Qualifying tomorrow.
