Qualifiers 2019 - Day 12

We're back for the last day in qualifying this week, which has us in 10-ball majority territory. First up...

Modernistic Union third-year Daisy will play 12-ball with the silver cue. Daisy had plenty of struggles in her appearance, making two errors over 26 shots from an empty break. Queens Flames captain Crystal goes next, playing 13-ball with the red cue. Crystal did alright with three balls on the break, but she slowly worked her way around the table and ended with 25 shots and two errors. The red cue stays in action as the Stonebridge Wolves sophomore Vladimir shoots 10-ball with it. Vladimir needed only 3 shots and no errors despite an empty break, as the 10 hung near the top right until he used the 2 to pot it quickly. The fourth game of the day goes to the Everton Eagles' Kirstin, who shoots 9-ball with the red cue. Kirstin had a chance to end the game quickly, but she botched a 2-9 combination and would end up with 16 shots and one error for the game. At the end of the group, the Harrison Specters' Blizzard uses the red cue in 10-ball. Blizzard made two balls on the break, but two errors pushed her score up to 16 shots despite both instances helping her with positioning.

The second group kicks off with Stonebridge Wolves captain Juno shooting 8-ball with the silver cue. Juno had an unequivocally bad break, but she still managed to avoid errors and finish with 23 shots in a solid performance given the circumstances. The seventh game today belongs to the Modernistic Union's Puff I, who plays 9-ball with the red cue. Puff I potted a ball on the break and then banked the 2-9 combination to the bottom right to close with 3 shots and no errors in a great outing. A hard-charging veteran, the Diamond Gems newcomer Katelynn, plays 15-ball with the silver cue. Katelynn had a lackluster performance, with an empty break and a whopping five errors, none with intent, over her 32 shots. The red cue returns to action as Freedom Cascades strongman Nikolai plays 10-ball. Storm clouds are brewing over the league after Nikolai took 25 shots without an error in his appearance, portending a rough day ahead. Midland Predators captain Shawn concludes the group using the red cue for 8-ball. Shawn allowed the league's struggles to fester with nothing on his break and 26 shots with three errors for the game.

The blue cue finally gets a game today, as Capital City Sharpshooters sophomore Pauline makes her season debut in 7-ball. Pauline had nothing on the break, but finished with 10 shots despite taking two errors in the appearance. Lighton Prestige veteran Nicole steps up next to play 10-ball with the red cue. Nicole had a ball on the break, but her long chase on the 8 pushed her score up to 20 shots despite going error-free. The 13th game today sees Ted of the Web City Spiders become the third player done with qualifying as he plays Accuracy with the silver cue. Ted had a forgettable performance with a bad break and no errors over 24 shots. He ends with 172 total shots and 8 errors in his sessions. Next up, the Atlantic Pirates' Jason N. plays 12-ball with the blue cue. Jason N. had nothing on his break and butchered positioning badly at the end, with three errors over 28 shots in the game. The blue cue stays up to finish the batch, with Gal of the North Modernistic Nighthawks using it in 10-ball. Gal had a wondrous game, needing only 13 shots with one error after narrowly coming up empty on the break.

Group four gets going as Wario of the Southridge Defenders plays 13-ball with the blue cue. Wario delivered with a ball on the break and 25 shots with only two errors in the performance. Golden Pilots captain Valencia brings the silver cue back to action with some 9-ball. Valencia made a ball on the break and didn't stop there, finishing with 5 shots as she jammed the 4-6-9 combination into the bottom side off a bank. She had no errors in this game. Commerce Tradewinds veteran Niki plays 7-ball with the red cue in her season debut. Niki will be near the bottom of the stack in the event, as her 17 shots and four errors after an empty break left plenty to be desired. The red cue remains in action for the 19th game today, which has the Golden Pilots' Sparkles playing 12-ball. Sparkles showed impressive control compared to her peers today, making two balls on the break and needing only one error over 22 shots to get through her game. North Modernistic Nighthawks captain Peach closes this batch with the silver cue in hand for 8-ball. Peach looked great in her appearance, taking a ball on the break and clearing the table in 18 shots with no errors.

The Wolves' Vladimir leads off the fifth set with his 12-ball game using the red cue. Vladimir popped off three balls on the break and stayed strong to close at 20 shots and no errors for the rest of the game. Everton Eagles captain Goldy is the 22nd player drawn today, using the blue cue in 8-ball. Goldy had a great game going before illegally potting the 8, which pushed her to 22 shots with five errors for the play after making a ball on the break. After that, Pearl Surfers co-captain Neopolitan plays 10-ball with the silver cue. Neopolitan made two balls on the break and took only one error in 12 shots in a fantastic appearance. The Atlantic Pirates' Steven gets the next game, using the red cue in 9-ball. Steven went from the good of making two balls on the break to the bad of a scratch and long chase on the early balls before closing at 15 shots in the game. Wrapping up the group, Slinks of the Westside Rockers plays 8-ball with the blue cue. Slinks breezed through her game despite an empty break, needing a mere 17 shots with no errors.

The sixth group begins with Wild Thing making his Stonebridge Wolves debut with the blue cue in 7-ball. Wild Thing made three balls on the break, including the 7 to the top side to score 0 shots and zero errors in a perfect debut for his new team. Following that, Violetta of the Queens Flames tries 9-ball with the silver cue. Violetta made a ball on the break but suffered a pair of errors, including a scratch while potting the 9 that forced her to clear the table. She ended with 14 shots in the game. Another season debut awaits as the Victoria Spurs' Sage plays 7-ball with the silver cue. Sage did get a ball on the break, but she scratched while pushing the 7 down later and had to finish with 10 shots and two errors. The Diamond Gems' Pedey is up next, using the red cue for 13-ball. Pedey looked lost at first, and it would cost him as he needed 31 shots and two errors to finish the appearance. The red cue stays up to round out this group, as the Pearl Surfers' Boots uses it in 10-ball. Boots made a ball on the break and attacked quickly at first, but ended up with one error over her 15 shots.

Group seven opens with the Archtown Arrows' Dusky playing 10-ball with the blue cue. Dusky had two errors after an empty break, but failed into success as she double-potted the 4 and 10 to the right corners to end with a decent 13 shots. The 32nd game of the day belongs to the Web City Spiders' Jack, who uses the silver cue in 9-ball. Jack nearly made a ball on the break, but close calls near pockets led to his two errors in 16 shots for a poor game. The Flames captain Crystal plays Rotation with the silver cue in her second game of the day. Crystal did brilliantly in this game, making three balls on the break and taking three errors, all with intent, over her 22 shots. Following that, the Freedom Cascades' Stripes shoots 10-ball with the red cue. Stripes wasn't nearly as good, finishing with 19 shots and two errors after an empty break and a chaotic game. Finishing the bunch, the Westside Rockers' Midnight shoots 15-ball with the blue cue. Midnight annihilated the rack, sinking four balls on the break. She took two intentional errors and finished with 15 shots in a genius full-rack performance.

The eighth bunch starts as Central Warriors star Dustin shoots 9-ball with the blue cue. Dustin played quite well with just 10 shots after making a ball on the break, avoiding errors for a fairly pristine effort. Continuing along, the Royal Crowns' Brownie shoots Rotation with the blue cue. Brownie couldn't get a ball on the break, and she had three errors fairly early in the game before closing strong with 24 shots. Next up, Tysini Hummingbirds veteran Paps plays 10-ball with the silver cue. Paps got unlucky with his first error, but the other two he had were quite sloppy, and they all combined to force him to take 18 shots for the game. The 39th player drawn today is the Infinity Torpedoes' Shelley, who shoots Rotation with the blue cue. Shelley made two balls on the break and accumulated five errors over 23 shots, opting for a successful and eventful performance. The Pilots' Valencia plays her second game today, using the silver cue for 10-ball. Valencia wasted no time in finishing her appearance, potting the 2-10 combination to the top right to give her 2 shots and no errors.

Kodiak of the Modernistic Union is at the head of the ninth group, playing 9-ball with the silver cue. Kodiak should have gotten a ball on the break, but he went empty with one error over a crisp 13 shots in a good game. More 9-ball is on the way for Commerce Tradewinds star Taylor S., who will play in the event with the red cue. Taylor S. started out quite well with a ball on the break, but her game ended with 19 shots and one error after chasing the last three balls. The red cue stays up in today's 43rd game, as Victoria Spurs captain Spice uses it in 10-ball. Spice did make a ball on the break, but she took three errors in the game and ended up at 18 shots despite playing fairly well. Another 10-ball game is on the way, as the Whitewater Shores newcomer Rosalina plays in the event with the red cue. Rosalina did just the same without the ball on the break, taking three errors for failing to call improbable shots over her 18-shot performance. Lighton Prestige star Spirit closes this group with 13-ball and the silver cue. Spirit needed 28 shots with two errors to get through this game after being unable to make a ball on the break.

The final group is fronted by Pacific Volcanoes mainstay Ms. Kitty, who plays 12-ball with the blue cue. Ms. Kitty made a ball on the break, and while she faced some animosity, she got by it with 19 shots and only one error for the game. Back in 13-ball, the Everton Eagles newcomer Bear plays with the red cue. Bear made two balls on the break and quickly downed the solids, but the stripes gave him trouble, and he finished with a good 21 shots after a long finish. The Wolves' Wild Thing makes his second appearance in today's 48th game, using the blue cue for 8-ball. Wild Thing knocked a ball in on a bad break, and then rallied with 17 shots and no errors to complete a strong game. Another 8-ball game sees the Pearl Surfers' Beth play with the silver cue. Beth did even better, getting a ball on the break and then completing the game in a mere 16 shots with no errors. Finally, the Southern Monarchs' Pounce plays 8-ball with the red cue. Pounce did well with only 16 shots after a ball on the break, and that included one error for his scratch.

The league is considering playing Sunday to accommodate a busier than expected Wednesday, and also considering playing the United Cup games at night. A decision will be made on Sunday.
