We're back for the third day of qualifying, which should see a fairly even split between 7-ball and 8-ball with some 9-ball mixed in. First up...
Crystal, the Queens Flames captain, uses the red cue in her 9-ball appearance. Crystal had a good appearance, making two balls on the break and closing with 14 shots despite taking two errors in the game. The Capital City Sharpshooters' Missy gets the second game of the day, shooting 8-ball with the silver cue. Missy had no trouble whatsoever, making two balls on the break and suffering only one error in 18 shots in a great performance. Midland Predators rookie Kitty makes her debut with the blue cue in 7-ball. Kitty's inexperience showed, as she got a ball on the break but walked the line between missing many shots and taking an error. Her one error over 15 shots reflected a rough beginning to her career. The Stonebridge Wolves sophomore Hershey begins his season with the silver cue in 7-ball. Hershey made the 5 on the break, and then deflected a shot off the 1 to take the 7 at the bottom right, ending with 1 shot and no errors in a near-perfect start. Ending this batch, the Swordpoint Blades' Dreamy keeps the silver cue in action for 8-ball. Dreamy raised the stakes for this event, knocking the rack down in 16 shots with no errors after getting a ball on the break.
Group two begins with North Modernistic Nighthawks sophomore Gal playing 7-ball with the silver cue. Gal made a ball late on the break and started well, only fading a bit to 10 shots with no errors as the 7 proved tough to corral. Continuing along, Pronger Tridents sophomore Lize makes her season debut with the red cue. Lize showed off some skills with her improved strength this season, curving a couple of shots and ending at 8 total shots with no errors after a ball on the break that could have been two. The Viewpoint Sound Meteors' Dani goes next, shooting 8-ball with the silver cue. Dani had two balls on the break and looked to be challenging the high score, but two errors pushed her total up to 22 shots. The ninth game of the day belongs to Atlantic Pirates veteran Steven, who will use the blue cue in 7-ball. Steven committed to attacking the 7 and was rewarded, finishing with 5 shots after a long 4-7 combination to the bottom right. He had a ball on the break and no errors. At the back of the group, Southern Monarchs veteran Dominic uses the blue cue for his season debut. Dominic had less success than Steven, but closed with 12 shots and no errors after an empty break left an unfavorable distribution.
The third batch opens with Central Warriors star Dustin playing 7-ball with the red cue. Dustin had nothing on the break, but a lucky shot on the 2 prevented disaster. He still had an error later, but ended with 9 shots in a good first game of the year. Next up, Cowzart makes his second appearance with the Pacific Volcanoes, using the red cue for 8-ball. Cowzart had an empty break and took an error for a scratch in the middle, but his shooting was good enough to cover it, finishing with 19 shots. More 8-ball is on the way as Lighton Prestige star Spirit uses the blue cue in the event. Spirit had a ball on the break, but scuffed multiple shots and took two errors in 25 shots to complete a frustrating game. Pacific Volcanoes veteran Leonette takes today's 14th game, making her season debut in 7-ball with the red cue. Leonette had a lot of promise early on despite an empty break, but it went to waste with two errors and sloppy finishing that led to 14 shots for the game. Royal Crowns veteran Kayla finishes this group with the silver cue in hand for 8-ball. Kayla delivered a good game with a ball on the break and no errors while finishing with 19 shots.
Group four starts with Boots of the Pearl Surfers using the silver cue for 7-ball. Boots was a little shaky on her cut shots, taking two errors in 12 shots for a decent outing. Central Warriors captain gets the 17th game of the day, also using the silver cue in her season debut. Twilight blasted the rack apart but kept the game compact, finishing with 7 shots and no errors despite the empty break. Her sister, the Pacific Volcanoes captain Starlight, follows that with the red cue in hand for her season debut. Starlight had a more eventful game, making a ball while scratching on the break and lacking the same precision as she took 9 shots with just the one error. Diamond Gems newcomer Leonardo gets his first game with the team, using the silver cue in 7-ball. Leonardo had a ball on the break, and cleanly overcame early struggles to finish with 11 shots and no errors. Rounding out the bunch, Harrison Specters captain Twinkie II shoots 7-ball with the red cue. Twinkie II had some challenges with long shots, but a ball on the break and no errors kept her score down at 10 shots.
Gizmo of the Eastside Sharks gets the 21st game today, using the blue cue in 9-ball. Gizmo had a ball on the break and kept the 9 close to the bottom right, eventually making it on a 5-9 combination to end with 10 shots and no errors. Web City Spiders newcomer Avril will play 8-ball with the red cue in her second appearance with the team. Avril began so well, but the trouble with stripes theme reemerged for her, causing her to take three errors over 26 shots. More 8-ball is on the way, as the Royal Crowns newcomer Brownie plays it with the silver cue. Brownie had a similar game, although she took only one error after an empty break and a plethora of missed shots. Everton Eagles veteran Kirstin makes her season debut with the silver cue in 7-ball. Kirstin kept silver's dominance of the event going, taking the 5 to the bottom right and 7 to the top left for a score of 0 shots and zero errors. The Westside Rockers' Midnight brings today to half-completion as she shoots 8-ball with the blue cue. Midnight controlled herself after an empty break and some early struggles. She managed to finish with 22 shots and one error in a strong performance.
The sixth group sees Maplewood Lumberjacks sophomore Summer shoot 7-ball with the silver cue in her season debut. Summer made two balls on the break and closed out the appearance with a 1-7 combination to the bottom right, giving her 4 shots and no errors. Moving along, the Infinity Torpedoes' Mr. Snowman plays 8-ball with the red cue. Mr. Snowman had an impressive game, needing only 17 shots with no errors after an empty break. Oceanside Waves sophomore Jason V. goes next, his season debut in 7-ball coming with the silver cue. Jason V. had a lackluster performance, going empty on the break and needing 13 shots without an error to complete the game. The Infinity Torpedoes' Shelley becomes the pace-setter with her 10-ball game with the red cue. Shelley had nothing on the break and one error for an illegal contact, but her 7-10 combination to the top right sealed her score at 14 shots. The Southridge Defenders' Bianca caps this group with the blue cue in 9-ball. Bianca nearly made the 9 on the break, but played smart and took no errors before a 3-9 combination to the top right helped her end at only 4 shots.
Bunch seven begins with the Golden Pilots' Sparkles shooting 7-ball with the blue cue. Sparkles ended up taking 14 shots with one error and one ball on the break in a rough first game of her season. Another player will use the blue cue in a season debut as the Freedom Cascades' Stripes sees her name drawn. Stripes looked very good despite an early error in her game, finishing with 8 shots on a 5-7 kick combination to the top side. The blue cue remains in action in the 33rd game of the day, as the Oceanside Waves' Josie shoots 9-ball. Josie fired off a wide break that potted nothing, but she kept her composure and ended with 7 shots and no errors in a great showing. The Boston Swifts' Ice Cream is next up, making her season debut with the red cue in 7-ball. Ice Cream did not let a scratch on the break slow her down, finishing with 10 shots and just the one error. Wrapping up the group, the Prestige's Spirit takes a second game today in 9-ball with the blue cue. Spirit had a slow start with nothing on the break and an early error, but that was her only mistake in 15 shots for a decent game.
The Meteors' Dani gets group eight going with her second game today, shooting 9-ball with the red cue. Dani had a similar game to the previous one, making nothing on the break and taking an error before clamping down to score 15 shots. The 37th player selected today is the Westside Rockers' Goatee, making her debut in 7-ball with the blue cue. Goatee came close to a ball on the break, and added a late error for a scratch, but she closed with 9 shots in a good performance. Another season debut from an Urban region player is next, as the Terrace City Knights' Jennifer begins her season with the silver cue. Jennifer didn't have a favorable distribution from her empty break, ending with 13 shots and no errors, the latter part being the only struck of good luck. Freedom Cascades mainstay Nikolai draws in for 8-ball with the silver cue. Nikolai moved to the bottom of the stack with nothing on the break and 8 errors over 33 shots, incurring the 5-shot penalty for illegally potting the 8. TodavĂa Stills star Sierra will try to get 8-ball back in favor with the blue cue. Sierra had a good game with her only error being a scratch on the break. From there, she cleared the table in 19 shots.
The ninth group kicks off with Potter of the Pronger Tridents making his season debut in 7-ball with the blue cue. Potter made two balls on the break and avoided errors as he needed only 7 shots to finish this game. The Tysini Hummingbirds' Charli is next up, shooting 8-ball with the silver cue. Charli had nothing on the break, but after her lone error, she rallied, finishing with 21 shots in a good showing. The Midland Predators' Fuchsia keeps the silver cue up for her 10-ball game. Fuchsia had a ball on the break, but with one error and plenty of misses, the rest of the game was filled with frustration rather than success. Sydney C. makes her career debut in 7-ball with the blue cue for the Modernistic Union in this game. Sydney C. finished with 9 shots after one error and two balls on the break, a good start to her career. Another season debut comes when Victoria Spurs star Yekaterina uses the blue cue in 7-ball to complete this group. Yekaterina couldn't make a ball on the break, but she avoided errors and finished with 10 shots.
The final group commences with Eastside Sharks rookie Taylor M. shooting 9-ball with the silver cue. Taylor M. was well on her way to disaster, but she got fortunate positioning to deflect a kick off the 2 to pot the 9 at the bottom right for a score of 7 shots and no errors. Southridge Defenders veteran Stephanie takes the next game, playing 8-ball with the blue cue. Stephanie fired off 22 shots after an empty break, taking no errors in the appearance. Her sister, the Queens Flames' Briana, makes her season debut with the silver cue in hand for 7-ball. Briana had a slow start with an empty break, but after a double-pot and an error, she closed well at 10 shots. Diamond Gems captain Smokey plays the 49th game of the day, using the blue cue in 9-ball. Smokey could have done great, but his second and final error caused his score to inflate to 18 shots despite having a ball downed on the break. The Viewpoint Sound Meteors' Hoot ends the day, also playing 9-ball with the blue cue. Hoot had a ball on the break, an error early on, and then a deflected shot off the 2 to put the 9 down to ice his score at 4 shots.
That's all for today. Qualifiers will nestle in behind Elite cricket for the next three days.
