Qualifiers 2019 - Day 10

We've reached the tenth day of qualifying, which will give us 500 games played by the end of it. Today's first game belongs to...

The Archtown Arrows' Sleepy B., who makes her season debut in 7-ball with the silver cue. Sleepy B. went without a ball on the break, but closed in 10 shots with only one error. The Terrace City Knights' Jennifer keeps the silver cue active for her Rotation game. Jennifer simply couldn't do much more than make contact at first, causing her to need 36 shots with only two errors in a game where she was caught in-between two styles. The silver cue gets another game, playing 10-ball with the Harrison Specters' Twinkie II. This game didn't go well at all, with Twinkie II taking four errors after an empty break before finishing with 18 shots on a 7-10 combination from ball-in-hand, using the only choice doctrine to justify the play. Whitewater Shores sophomore Katharine plays next with the silver cue in 8-ball. Katharine had the first good game of the day, needing only 19 shots and no errors despite an empty break that hardly scattered the rack. The fifth game today is 12-ball with the red cue for the Diamond Gems' Pedey. He held his own despite an empty break, and had an easy time of it in 20 shots with no errors.

The silver cue returns at the head of group two, playing 12-ball at the hands of the Infinity Torpedoes' Mr. Snowman. This game also went well, as Mr. Snowman made a ball on the break and took only one late error in 19 shots. The Web City Spiders' Ted joins the front-running pace with the blue cue in hand for 15-ball. Ted came out with some strong shooting, but a late fade saw him take two errors and end up at a good 25 shots. The Freedom Cascades' Stinky gets the eighth game today, using the red cue for 9-ball. Stinky came agonizingly close to a ball on the break, but went empty before putting the game away in 13 shots with no errors. More 9-ball is next when the Eastside Sharks' Cubby plays in the event with the silver cue. Cubby had a ball on the break, but he struggled and ended up with 17 shots and three errors in an ugly outing. Closing the group, Diamond Gems captain Smokey shoots 13-ball with the red cue. Smokey had a ball on the break and took his only error for illegally potting a second ball to that pocket. Smokey needed only 21 shots to complete the outing.

The third group leads off as the Freedom Cascades' Stripes plays 8-ball with the silver cue. Stripes was unlucky to go empty on the break, but she put the game away in 20 shots without an error. Next up, the Westside Rockers' Midnight uses the red cue for Rotation. Midnight didn't get anything on her break, but she rallied to finish with 22 shots and only a single error in a great performance. The Southridge Defenders' Caitlin steps up to play 9-ball with the blue cue. Caitlin sank a ball on the break and had some outstanding contact plays while rushing to finish with 13 shots and no errors. The 14th game of the day sees Modernistic Union rookie Sydney C. play 13-ball with the silver cue. Sydney C. couldn't get favorable positioning in her appearance, taking one error over 27 shots. At the back of the group, the Sharks' Cubby plays again, using the red cue for 10-ball. Cubby made the 10 but also scratched on the break. He ended up with two errors in 19 shots in a tough outing.

Bunch four begins with Hoppy of the Archtown Arrows doing 10-ball with the silver cue. Hoppy couldn't quite get anything on the break, but managed to clear the table in 17 shots despite suffering two errors. The 17th game of the day sees Hoppy's Southern Monarchs replacement, Mams, shooting 8-ball with the silver cue. Mams did awfully, with nothing on the break and no errors to justify her albatross score of 31 shots. Her partner, the Tysini Hummingbirds' Paps, will try his hand at 8-ball with the silver cue as well. Paps got all the bounces that his club-mate didn't, burying the rack in 16 shots with one error and one ball on the break. The 8-ball run continues with the Whitewater Shores' Twinkie III using the blue cue in the event. Twinkie III had nothing on the break and two errors on the same play, but played electric at the end to close with 19 shots. Ending the batch, Chicky Phil of the Web City Spiders plays 9-ball with the silver cue. Chicky Phil didn't get a ball on the break, and then faded to 15 shots with one error late in his game.

The 21st game of the day sees Southridge Defenders captain Debby play 10-ball with the silver cue. Debby had a good but empty break in her game, but closed in 8 shots by converting the 3-10 combination to the top right on her second try. She had no errors. Gems' captain Smokey goes next, his second game of the day being Rotation with the red cue. Smokey had a ball on the break and played a strategic game that saw him take three errors but only 23 shots. The red cue stays in action as the Pearl Surfers' Bright plays 12-ball. Bright had a great start with a pair of balls on the break, but the reduced flexibility bit him as he took three errors and 31 shots to correct poor positioning. The Defenders' Caitlin takes a second game today, playing 10-ball with the blue cue. Caitlin didn't get the same bounces in this appearance, making a ball on the break but tumbling to 20 shots with one error. Bringing the day to half-completion, the Queens Flames newcomer Mario uses the silver cue in 8-ball. Mario had an unspectacular 23 shots and no errors after an empty break.

The sixth group gets going as Golden Pilots captain Valencia plays 8-ball with the blue cue. The inflation of scores continued as Valencia got dinged for 31 shots and two errors in an ugly performance. More 8-ball follows as Commerce Tradewinds captain Tigerette gives the silver cue another chance in the event. Tigerette nearly downed the 8 on the break, but ended up taking 22 shots with one error, her finishing at the end causing a rise in shots. Royal Crowns veteran Kayla takes the next game, using the red cue for 13-ball. Kayla made two balls on the break, but needed 25 shots to sort out her positioning in the late game, also taking two errors along the way. The 29th player drawn today is the Queens Flames captain, Crystal, who will try 10-ball with the silver cue. Crystal had some unfortunate shots early in her appearance, but after her lone error, she managed to finish at 20 shots total. Freedom Cascades captain Jasmine seals the group with 9-ball and the red cue. Jasmine had a scratch on the break for the first of her two errors over a decent 15 shots.

The seventh set opens with Whitewater Shores captain Shaggy playing 8-ball with the red cue. Shaggy finished the rack in 21 shots after getting a ball on the break and taking only one error. The Crowns' Kayla returns for Rotation in her second game today, using the blue cue for this game. Kayla had a great start with a ball on the break, but two errors and awful shooting late pushed her score to 27, a common theme from her previous game. Eastside Sharks rookie Taylor M. gets the 33rd game of the day, using the blue cue in 12-ball. Taylor M. needed 27 shots with three errors after making two balls of the same suit in the same pocket on the break. The Torpedoes' Mr. Snowman returns for 13-ball with the silver cue in his second game of the day. Mr. Snowman amazingly had nothing on the break, but he worked quickly to finish with 21 shots and no errors. Rounding out the group, Swordpoint Blades rising star Bandit plays 8-ball with the red cue. Bandit made a ball on the break, but still needed 23 shots with one error in his average performance.

A season debut starts group eight, as Shawn, the Midland Predators captain, shoots 7-ball with the blue cue. Shawn had nothing on the break and a pathetic 15 shots over the course of his error-free appearance. Next up, Union rookie Sydney C. returns for Rotation with the silver cue. Sydney C. did well despite an empty break, pushing her way to 27 shots and only one error. The red cue gets back into action for Southridge Defenders newcomer Wario's 12-ball game. Wario had a brilliant game, failing to pot a ball on the break but turning the game over in 14 shots and no errors. Following that, the Blades' Bandit returns for his second game of the day, playing 9-ball with the red cue. Bandit came out flat this time, taking two errors over 19 shots to finish a lackluster game. TodavĂa Stills star Ruby wraps up this group with the blue cue in hand for 9-ball. Ruby had a ball on the break and needed only 12 shots without an error to finish the appearance.

The ninth group kicks off with Westside Rockers veteran Goatee using the silver cue in 10-ball. Goatee had the potential for a good game, but four errors and an empty break weighed her down to 20 shots. The silver cue stays in action for the 42nd game of the day, where Dusky uses it in 9-ball. Dusky displayed some agitation after needing 16 shots and one error with an empty break in this appearance. Her sister, the Royal Crowns newcomer Brownie, steps in to play 12-ball with the red cue. Brownie made three balls on the break, two legally, but would take six errors and 29 shots to complete the game thanks to awful positioning. The red cue stays up much to the Harrison Specters' Blizzard's chagrin, as she'll use it in 9-ball. Predictably, the game went poorly for Blizzard, as her break stunk and she took two errors in 18 shots to get out of the appearance. Tensions run high as Swordpoint Blades veteran Stealth ends the group with another red cue 9-ball game. Stealth didn't get anything on the break and lost his cool after his only error, but got lucky to finish with 17 shots.

The final group is fronted by Atlantic Pirates captain Delila, who has the blue cue in hand for her season debut in 7-ball with the blue cue. Delila made a ball on the break, but poor cuts at the end pushed her score up to 10 shots and no errors. Another 7-ball game follows, as Pounce makes his Southern Monarchs season debut with the silver cue. Pounce struggled as many who have played late in the day, needing 14 shots and one error after his empty break. The Flames' Crystal returns for a second game today, using the red cue in 12-ball. Crystal didn't turn things around, making a ball on the break but finishing with 26 shots and four errors. The Monarchs' Mams plays her second game today, using the silver cue for 9-ball. Mams was lucky to make three balls on the break, as two errors and a chase on the last four balls put her score at 14 shots with the early help. The Whitewater Shores newcomer Rosalina ends the day with the rough combo of red cue and 9-ball. Rosalina had a bad game to cap a bad day, shooting 19 shots with no errors after a ball on the break.

The league will look to get back on track with a new day tomorrow.
