After a two-day delay, Qualifiers returns for a special Sunday session. First up...
Prism of the Todavía Stills makes her season debut with the red cue in 7-ball. Prism went empty on the break, but had 10 shots and no errors in a clean and simple performance. Next up, the Capital City Sharpshooters' Lorde also uses the red cue for her season debut. Lorde started off shaky with a couple of misses after her empty break, but burst to the finish in 9 shots with no errors. The red cue stays in action for the Pronger Tridents' Zach making his season debut. Zach broke from a wide position and potted two balls, ending the turn with 9 shots and no errors after some late difficulty with the 6. Diamond Gems captain Smokey will also use the red cue, but he's playing 8-ball this time. Smokey couldn't make anything fall on the break, but he didn't need too much time to clear the table, taking 20 shots without an error in a strong performance. The red cue will sweep the group as Queens Flames superstar Violetta debuts for the season using it in 7-ball. Violetta wasted no time after her empty break, cutting the 1-7 combination to the top left corner for a score of 1 shot and no errors.
The second group begins with Shiny making her Lighton Prestige debut with the silver cue. Shiny made two balls on the break and quickly navigated the rack from there, downing the game in 6 shots with no errors. Celestia gets the seventh game today, the Oceanside Waves rising star also using the silver cue in her season debut. Celestia had troubles from the break, which was empty. She avoided taking any errors, but needed 15 shots to clear the rack in a rough first game of the year. The Atlantic Pirates' Isabella is the first to shoot 9-ball this year, doing so with the blue cue. Isabella tried a break from the far left, but went empty. She had some fortunate touches to avoid taking an error before ending at 9 shots with a 6-9 combination to the top left. One of the most polarizing players makes her season debut next as the Harrison Specters' Lexi will use the silver cue in 7-ball. Lexi delivered a good game in 9 shots despite her empty break, and she took no errors either. Closing out this batch, the Diamond Gems' Katelynn makes her first appearance with the team in seven years, using the red cue in 7-ball. Katelynn's break gave her an unfortunate distribution, and she spiraled down to 18 shots and two errors in a forgettable return to her first team.
Batch three kicks off with Everton Eagles veteran Cleo using the silver cue in her season debut. Breaks have been troublesome so far today, and Cleo also went empty before putting the rack away in 11 shots with no errors. The Pronger Tridents' Spot is the next player called, using the red cue in his season debut. Spot had an eventful outing, making two balls on the break but also scratching early in the game for his lone error. Spot ended with 9 shots, ultimately a good result. Modernistic Union captain Ms. Puppy is set to start her season with the blue cue in 7-ball. Ms. Puppy got a lucky bounce on the break to count a ball early, and then closed the rack in 10 shots with no errors for a good effort. Another captain, the Pronger Tridents' Precious, steps up to play 8-ball with the red cue in today's 14th game. Precious managed to get a ball down on the break, and closed the game in 22 shots with no errors in a fairly standard performance. At the back of the group, the Southridge Defenders' Stephanie makes her season debut in 7-ball with the red cue. Stephanie did what she could to save face after a bunch of early misses, but she had 15 shots and no errors on an empty-break game.
Group four gets going with North Modernistic Nighthawks captain Peach making her season debut with the red cue. Peach had 14 shots and no errors after an empty break, a sub-par performance for the dangerous captain. Her best friend and rival, Daisy of the Modernistic Union, goes next with the silver cue in her season debut. Daisy was better, but still had an empty break and two errors among her 10 shots, all coming early before the late burst. The Infinity Torpedoes' Shelley takes the 18th game of the day, using the silver cue for 9-ball. Shelley had an early scratch for her lone error in 16 shots in an alright performance. Back in 7-ball, Golden Pilots captain Valencia will employ the red cue for her season debut. It was nearly an ugly game for Valencia, but she corralled some difficult shots, tallying 9 shots without an error after an empty break. Victoria Spurs captain Spice's season debut with the silver cue ends this group. Spice had a ball on the break, but positioning failed her, requiring 14 shots without an error to finish the game.
The fifth group starts with Freedom Cascades captain Jasmine shooting 7-ball with the silver cue. Jasmine was sharp after making a ball on the break, converting the rack in 6 shots with no errors. Up next, the Harrison Specters' Rudolph starts his year with the red cue. Rudolph delivered a much uglier performance with three errors and 15 shots after scratching on the break. The Stills' Prism returns to action with the silver cue in her second game today, playing 8-ball. Prism made three balls on the break but still needed 27 shots and three errors to get through a bad game. Fuchsia keeps the silver cue in action, but the Midland Predators veteran will be shooting 9-ball with it. Fuchsia did a bit of everything, finishing her turn in 11 shots but also taking a scratch one shot after potting a ball on the break. Bringing us to halfway today, Vladimir of the Stonebridge Wolves shoots 7-ball with the blue cue. Vladimir had too few clear shots to be successful, ending with an empty break, 17 shots, and one error.
Southridge Defenders third-year Bianca opens bunch six with the silver cue in 8-ball. Bianca just missed a ball on the break, but put the rack down in a crisp 20 shots with one error for a scratch. Dusky of the Archtown Arrows will play today's 27th game, using the silver cue to debut in 7-ball. Dusky drained three balls on the break and flew through the rack in 5 shots without an error for an excellent first game of the year. The red cue comes back into action for Infinity Torpedoes captain Smudge, who makes her season debut here. Smudge blasted the 7 to the top side off the break, scoring 0 shots and zero errors in a perfect opener to her season, using a spot three ball-widths left of center to produce the result. Her sister, the Todavía Stills star Sierra, will follow that with the blue cue for her own season debut. Sierra had a ball on the break and took the 7 down early, but scratched on that shot for her only error. Sierra would need 13 shots total to clear the table after the finishing foul. Rounding out the group, Noelle of the Central Warriors uses the red cue for her season debut. Noelle had a ball on the break, but after two errors and disastrous conversion rates, she took a cheap deflection off the 1 to pot the 7 in the bottom left to end with 10 shots.
The Eastside Sharks' Gizmo will play 8-ball with the silver cue to lead off group 7. Gizmo came narrowly short of a ball on the break, but cleared the table in 20 shots after that, taking no errors in a strong second game. Bright keeps the silver cue in action, as the Pearl Surfers veteran debut for the season in 7-ball. Bright didn't have a ball on the break despite his strong break, and he took an early error for a scratch, but he ended with 8 shots in a good game. Blizzard makes her Harrison Specters debut with the red cue in the next game. Blizzard butchered her game, making a ball on the break and then taking three errors, two for contact, before ending at 15 shots. Another Northeasterner goes next, as Puff III begins another season for the Everton Eagles with the blue cue in 7-ball. Puff III failed to get a ball on the break, but finishing her turn in 9 shots without an error made her happy. This batch closes with Pacific Volcanoes mainstay Ms. Kitty using the red cue for her season debut. Ms. Kitty made a ball on the break, but nearly ruined her turn with bad misses. She closed at 11 shots and no errors, precariously falling into a favorable spot.
The 36th player drawn today is Web City Spiders third-year Ted, who uses the blue cue to play 9-ball. Ted made a ball on the break, and despite an early error, he ended at 12 shots when he hit the 5-9 combination to the top right. After that, Pearl Surfers co-captain Neopolitan uses the silver cue for her season debut in 7-ball. Neopolitan had an empty break, but put the 1 in the bottom right and then glanced a kick off the 2 and 3 to dump the 7 in the top right, ending with 2 shots and no errors in a close call for officials. Her close friend and club-mate, the Terrace City Knights captain Kiwi, follows suit with the silver cue in her season debut. Kiwi avoided an early error but did take one late, finishing at 9 shots in a good appearance after an empty break. The Viewpoint Sound Meteors' Hoot keeps the silver cue busy, playing with it in 8-ball. Hoot cracked a ball off the break and took no errors in scoring 20 shots, as he cruised around the table with ease. Bear of the Everton Eagles takes us into a break with his 8-ball appearance with the silver cue. Bear struggled a bit more, getting nothing on the break and needing 23 shots after his shot fell out mid-game, but he also had no errors.
Group nine begins after the break with Crystal, the Queens Flames captain, playing 8-ball with the red cue. Crystal had two errors after an empty break, closing at 24 shots despite starting with a good attack. The Eagles' Puff III takes the 42nd game today, using the blue cue in 8-ball. Puff III looked good again, failing to get anything on the break but needing just 21 shots to clear the rack without an error. The 8-ball binge continued with the Whitewater Shores' Marsell, who also uses the blue cue. Marsell cracked an effective break, ending his game in 19 shots after a ball on the break. He had no errors. Taylor M. uses the red cue for her 8-ball, as the Eastside Sharks rookie makes her second appearance. Taylor M. sent the cue over the rail on the break, her only error. She ripped through solids easily, but needed 21 shots to clean the table as stripes gave her trouble. Back in 7-ball, the Viewpoint Sound Meteors' Dani makes her season debut with the blue cue. Dani made a ball on the break and avoided errors, but her risky shooting strategies caused her to need 12 shots to finish the game.
The final group sees the Warriors' Noelle come back for a second game, using the red cue in 8-ball. Noelle had a ball on the break in this appearance, but couldn't corral her late game shots, ending up at 23 shots and no errors in the game. Westside Rockers veteran Midnight is the next to play, using the red cue for her 7-ball game. Midnight made a ball on an awkward break, but dominated the game with 9 shots and no errors. The Boston Swifts' Puff II is the next player to make her debut for the season, using the silver cue. Puff II scratched on the break for her only error of the game, but finished the rack in only 9 shots for a good turn. Terrace City Knights sophomore Melissa steps in with the red cue for 8-ball in the penultimate game of the day. Melissa guided a ball in on the break, but three errors and 28 shots later, she found herself at the bottom of the stack for the event. The last game goes to the Maplewood Lumberjacks' Bryant, who shoots 8-ball with the silver cue. Bryant tried to improve on the day's standard, but ended up with one error on 25 shots.
Select finishes its week 7 slate before Day 3 of Qualifiers returns to a normally scheduled time.
