Qualifiers 2019 - Day 13

We'll do a special weekend session of qualifying today to account for taking Wednesday off this week. First up...

Kodiak of the Modernistic Union plays 10-ball with the silver cue. Kodiak had a hideous start to his game, but after taking his lone error, he settled in and finished at 21 shots. Next up, the North Modernistic Nighthawks' Luigi plays 8-ball with the red cue. Luigi made a ball on the break and worked quickly through solids, and then found a second wind to push stripes down late to end at 19 shots and no errors. The blue cue joins in on the fun with 10-ball, playing with the Terrace City Knights captain Kiwi. She had some lucky bounces, getting a ball on the break and needing only 14 shots with one error to clear the rack. The red cue is back in action with Maplewood Lumberjacks captain Diddley playing 13-ball. Diddley didn't make a ball on the break and took two errors over 29 shots in a rough outing. Finishing the group, Shiny of the Lighton Prestige plays 8-ball with the red cue. Shiny didn't get a ball on the break, but she still blitzed her way through the game with only one error in 19 shots.

The second group begins with the Southern Monarchs' Mams playing 10-ball with the silver cue. Mams had nothing on the break, but made things worse with four mostly avoidable errors, which pushed her score up to 24 shots. Boston Swifts veteran Sweetheart takes the seventh game of the day, using the blue cue in 12-ball. Sweetheart got a ball on the break but took two errors over a strong 19 shots, cruising through the mid-game with ease. Maplewood Lumberjacks mainstay Bryant goes next, using the red cue in Rotation. Bryant needed 30 shots with three errors after his empty break, struggling to find his way amid a cluttered distribution from the break. The Monarchs' Mams returns with the silver cue to play 12-ball. Mams looked much better in this game, overcoming an empty break to close with 17 shots and no errors. The blue cue takes the day into a lunch break with 8-ball played by the Viewpoint Sound Meteors' Nibbles. It started well with a ball on the break, but Nibbles was shaky with his shot placement, and ended up needing 22 shots but no errors in the appearance.

After the break, the Terrace City Knights' Melissa uses the blue cue in Rotation. Melissa made two balls on the break and only suffered two errors over a quick 23 shots. Midland Predators veteran Americus goes next, playing 10-ball with the silver cue. Americus played quite well despite scratching on the break, taking only 14 shots and the one error in her appearance. More 10-ball is on the way with the Harrison Specters' Lexi making her appearance in the event with the blue cue. Lexi made a mess of this game with nothing on the break and two errors in 22 shots, unable to make her shots with the proper tenacity. The 14th game of the day sees Stonebridge Wolves newcomer Wild Thing play 9-ball with the red cue. Wild Thing had a good game going despite his empty break, but three misses on trick plays involving the 4 and 9 raised his score. He eventually closed with 11 shots and no errors by deflecting a shot off the 5 to bump the 9 into the top right. The batch ends with the Terrace City Knights sophomore Quincy playing 9-ball with the silver cue. Quincy didn't have a ball on the break, but the reigning MVP didn't take an error either, ending with 13 shots in the game.

The silver cue leads off in group four, as Jennifer of the Terrace City Knights plays 15-ball. Jennifer didn't have the right style for either a reckless or controlled attack, splitting the difference and ending up with 40 shots and seven errors in an ugly outing. More silver cue action comes in 12-ball with the Lionel of the North Modernistic Nighthawks. Lionel rattled off the game in 20 shots despite taking two errors, as the ball he made on the break proved helpful. TodavĂa Stills veteran Bells gets off the blocks in her season debut in 17-ball, playing with the silver cue. Bells made a ball on the break but had two errors in her game, needing 10 shots to finish the appearance. The silver cue binge continues with Puff I of the Modernistic Union playing 10-ball. Puff I didn't get a ball on the break, but she had a comfortable time with 13 shots and no errors after a good distribution made things easier for her. The 20th game of the day is the fourth qualifying finale, as the Diamond Gems' Katelynn wraps up her sessions with the silver cue in Accuracy. Katelynn needed 17 shots with one error for a scratch on the final ball, giving her totals of 185 shots and 16 errors so far. She's at the back of the small contingent of finished players.

The fifth set gets going as Katharine of the Whitewater Shores plays 10-ball with the silver cue. Katharine made a ball on the break in this one, and then cleared the rack in 13 shots in a good outing. The blue cue finally breaks the streak, playing 9-ball with Southern Monarchs captain Panda. He made a ball on the break while taking one of his two errors with a scratch, and then finished the game in 13 shots. The silver cue comes back in today's 23rd game, shooting 9-ball with Web City Spiders newcomer Waluigi. The third-year didn't have it in this game, needing 26 shots with shockingly only one error after a break and subsequent shots left him in poor positions. Atlantic Pirates third-year Isabella tries her hand at Rotation with the blue cue. Isabella rattled a ball down on the break and finished with 20 shots and two errors, both coming with intent. Another blue cue Rotation game closes the group as Harrison Specters sophomore Rudolph is ready to play. Rudolph had a much less pleasant experience, needing 31 shots with five errors to complete a game started by an empty break.

The 26th player drawn today is the Golden Pilots' Dusty, who shoots 13-ball with the red cue. Dusty had two balls on the break and took only one error over 21 shots to clear the table pretty smoothly. Archtown Arrows captain Sally steps up for 8-ball with the blue cue in the next game. Sally breezed through her game despite an empty break, finishing with no errors in her 18 shots. Moving along, Eastside Sharks captain Graham plays 10-ball with the silver cue. Graham made a ball on the break but had to stay sharp to finish with only one error over his 15 shots. More 10-ball follows with the Everton Eagles' Kirstin appearing in the event with the red cue. Kirstin couldn't get anything to fall on her break, and she added two errors over 20 shots to complete a challenging game. Modernistic Union captain Ms. Puppy completes the group with the red cue in 10-ball as well. Ms. Puppy had nothing on the break either, but managed to avoid errors before converting the 4-10 combination to the top right to end at 9 shots.

Group seven opens with Freedom Cascades captain Jasmine shooting 10-ball with the blue cue. Jasmine made two balls on the break before taking her only error in the game, and then finished at 5 shots with a 3-10 combination that ended up in the bottom right with a double-pot as the 8 also fell. The red cue returns for its next 10-ball game, playing with the Pronger Tridents' Zach. He started awfully and didn't improve with three errors early on, and it took a deflection off the 4 to put the 10 in the top right to stop the bleeding at 20 shots. The red cue stays in for 13-ball played by the Midland Predators' Fuchsia. The third-year didn't get anything on the break and didn't make friends with her positioning, ending at 30 shots and two errors in an ugly outing. Another Predator, Americus, takes her second game of the day with the red cue in hand for 12-ball. Americus needed 29 shots with five errors to complete her game, despite making a ball on the break, as the red cue has become a troublemaker in today's games. Wrapping up the batch, Pearl Surfers co-captain Watermelon makes her season debut with the silver cue in 7-ball. Watermelon made two balls on the break but suffered three errors with her loose shooting, ending at 13 shots.

The eighth group starts as Golden Pilots captain Valencia plays 12-ball with the red cue. Valencia went off despite an empty break, breezing through solids before slowing to set up and convert stripes to end at 19 shots with only one error. The Pilots' Dusty makes her second appearance today in Rotation with the blue cue. Dusty had nothing on the break, so she sped things up with four intentional errors early on before bursting her way to finish at 21 shots. The 38th game of the day belongs to the Freedom Cascades' Roxy, who shoots 8-ball with the blue cue. Roxy didn't get a ball on the break, but she forged a path to 21 shots and no errors for a solid performance. More 8-ball follows with the Archtown Arrows' Sleepy B. appearing in the event with the red cue. Sleepy B. couldn't get anything but her first of two errors on the break, but she navigated the game well to finish with 22 shots. Rounding out the group, Lighton Prestige newcomer Citrus plays 9-ball with the silver cue. Citrus made a ball on the break, but she found herself in a tough spot late and ended up with two errors in 15 shots.

Going 41st today, the Meteors' Nibbles makes a second appearance while playing 9-ball with the red cue. Nibbles had an early error and an empty break, but a slick 7-9 combination ended his game at 12 shots. The red cue gets another chance at 9-ball with another Meteor, Frosty, playing her turn in the event. Frosty had a ball on the break and no errors, finishing the game in a crisp 10 shots. Another 9-ball game with the red cue is ready as the Victoria Spurs' Strawberry takes her turn. Strawberry struggled despite making a ball on the break, needing two errors and 21 shots to finish the outing. The Meteors' Nibbles was drawn again, playing his third game of the day in 10-ball with the blue cue. Nibbles struggled this time, needing 19 shots with three errors after an empty break to complete the effort. Stonebridge Wolves sophomore Vladimir concludes the group with the silver cue in 13-ball. Vladimir closed with 23 shots after making a ball on the break and taking a single error for missed contact.

The final group is fronted by the Predators' Fuchsia, who plays Rotation with the blue cue in her second game of the day. Fuchsia played an honorable game, just going empty on the break but still only taking one error in her 24 shots. The 47th game of the day goes to the Web City Spiders' Jack, who plays 10-ball with the silver cue. Jack couldn't get a ball on the break, but he hounded the 10 for the entire time, ending with 12 shots and one error after making the 8-10 combination to the bottom right. Central Warriors veteran Wings goes next, playing 12-ball with the red cue. Wings couldn't quite get his positioning right even after potting three balls on the break, needing 26 shots and three errors to complete his performance. The red cue gets another look at 12-ball with the Archtown Arrows newcomer Hoppy. It didn't get much better, as Hoppy sank a ball on the break but took one error over 24 shots as she also had to fight for better positioning. The Specters' Lexi ends the day with her second appearance, using the silver cue for 12-ball. Lexi had nothing on the break, but finished the game with 19 shots and one error.

That's it for today. Pool will be played Monday and Tuesday alongside the first legs of the United Cup first round.
