2016 Qualifiers - Day 14

Today should see another 60 games as we edge closer to the end of qualifying. Up first...

Fluffina of the Maplewood Lumberjacks takes the red cue for Rotation. Fluffina made the most of a weak start, scoring 29 with three errors with a hot finish. The second player of the day is Twilight of the Central Warriors, using the red cue for 9-ball. Twilight scored 0 in this appearance, sinking four balls on the break, including the 9 to the bottom right, with no errors in a perfect performance. Following that, Westside Rockers captain Misty plays Rotation with the red cue. Misty nearly blew it before a hot stretch late gave her 29 shots with only one error in an impressive showing. Continuing along, we have Gizmo of the Central Warriors playing 15-ball with the silver cue. Gizmo just didn't have a groove, shooting 37 with three errors after an early failed attempt to end the game derailed him. Rounding out the group, Ice Cream of the Commerce Tradewinds plays 9-ball with the red cue. Ice Cream took 19 shots with one error in a mediocre effort.

The second group leads off with Stripes of the Terrace City Knights playing Accuracy with the blue cue as the fifteenth player to finish qualifying. Stripes shot 18 with no errors in her appearance, and finished the sessions with a total of 162 shots, a good score. Next up is Sydney Sierota of the Harrison Specter for 15-ball with the silver cue. Sydney took 19 shots with one error in a more confident appearance that ended on a 9-15 combination to the bottom right. Continuing along, there's Snuggle of the Oceanside Waves playing Rotation with the blue cue to the tune of 29 shots with one error in a decent showing. The ninth player drawn today is Stealth of the Swordpoint Blades, using the silver cue in 12-ball. Stealth needed 31 shots with a shocking four errors in a weak game. The group closes as Gizmo appears again today, shooting Accuracy with the red cue as the sixteenth player to finish. Gizmo shot 21 with one error, and ended qualifying with 169 shots, slightly better than average.

Segment three gets going with Zach of the Viewpoint Sound Meteors playing Rotation with the blue cue. Zach navigated around four errors effectively, shooting 28 with the help of a good middle section of the game. Moving along, there's Acorn of the Lighton Prestige shooting 9-ball with the silver cue. Acorn struggled, shooting 16 with one error in an erratic game. Next up, Dusty of the Golden Pilots keeps the silver cue at the table for more 9-ball. Dusty shot 17 with two errors, not the greatest third appearance out there. The fourteenth player called today is Graham of the Eastside Sharks for 12-ball with the blue cue. Graham shot 24 with two errors in a reasonable showing. The group concludes as Twinkie III of the Whitewater Shores plays 10-ball with the blue cue. Twinkie III took 16 shots with one error in a strong appearance.

The fourth group begins with Sydney of the Specters appearing in Accuracy with the silver cue, the seventeenth player to finish qualifying. Sydney shot poorly in this game, with 27 shots and two errors putting her right at average overall with 172 shots total. Up next, Southern Monarch Nicole gets Accuracy with the red cue as the eighteenth player to finish. Nicole took just 15 shots with no errors, ending her sessions at 156 total, a good series of appearances. The eighteenth player called today is Shadow of the Web City Spiders, playing 10-ball with the red cue. Shadow made it look easy, shooting 3 shots with no errors and ending on a 2-10 combination to the bottom left that he executed perfectly for a very early finish. Following that, Westside Rocker Chicky Phil is both nineteenth to finish qualifying and nineteenth on the day, using the red cue for Accuracy. Chicky Phil shot 21 with no errors, ending his qualifiers with 161 total shots, a decent performance. The group ends with Twinkie II of the Harrison Specters playing 15-ball with the silver cue. Twinkie II continues to impress, shooting 27 with just one error in a very promising game.

The fifth batch sees Midnight of the Westside Rockers shooting 10-ball with the red cue. Midnight ended with 24 shots and two errors in a challenging game. Continuing along, Niki of the Eastside Sharks plays 15-ball with the red cue. Niki took 29 shots with two errors in a solid seventh appearance. Up next is Citrus of the Diamond Gems, taking the red cue for Accuracy, the twentieth player to finish qualifying. Citrus shot 20 with two errors in the game, and went for 148 shots overall, a very good total for the star in her prove-it year. Going 24th today, Charli XCX of the Tysini Hummingbirds steps in with the red cue for 15-ball. Charli ended up at 33 with four errors in a very difficult appearance. The segment closes with Smudge of the Infinity Torpedoes playing 15-ball with the blue cue. Smudge scored 31 with four errors in a below-average showing.

The sixth segment starts with Puff I of the Modernistic Union shooting 10-ball with the red cue. Puff I hit 16 with two errors in a dazzling performance, playing ethically by shooting the whole rack after her first error. Next up, Bryant of the Maplewood Lumberjacks plays Rotation with the silver cue. Bryant hit 29 with three errors, suffering a cold finish that ran the score up a bit. The 28th player drawn today is Juno of the Modernistic Union, playing 10-ball with the blue cue. Juno needed only 5 shots, with no errors, to carom off the 3 to take the 10 into the top right while calling just that, a very efficient and stunning performance. Following that, there's Twilight of the Central Warriors appearing again, this time for 10-ball with the blue cue. Twilight continued to dazzle, shooting 15 with one error and ending early with a 9-10 combination to the top right. Wrapping up the group, Max of the Queens Flames plays Rotation with the red cue. Max's reckless style caught up to him later, as he scored 36 with seven errors after ignoring the consequences of earlier shots.

Group seven opens with Shelley of the Infinity Torpedoes playing 9-ball with the blue cue. Shelley shot 13 with one error in a crisp third appearance of the season. Moving along, Twilight of the Warriors makes her third appearance of the day, using the silver cue for 12-ball. Twilight had two errors among her 24 shots, failing to get positioned well for the last three shots and having to do extra work to compensate. The 33rd player called is Starlight of the Pacific Volcanoes, playing Rotation with the red cue. Starlight belted the game out in 28 shots with three errors, a workable performance. Continuing along, there's Wild Thing of the Whitewater Shores becoming the twenty-first player to finish qualifying with his Accuracy game using the silver cue. Wild Thing shot 20 in the game with one error, and 126 overall in the best series of qualifiers to reach the finish yet. Closing out the group, Commerce Tradewinds rookie Lorde uses the silver cue for 15-ball. Lorde scored 32 with one error, squandering a hot start with a sporadically erratic finish.

The eighth batch kicks off as Max of the Flames gets another game, keeping the silver cue at the table for 15-ball. Max again played reckless, but managed to score 21 with four errors despite scratching while sinking the 15 and being required to finish out the rack, which he did easily. The 37th player of the day is Tigerette of the Commerce Tradewinds, playing 12-ball with the silver cue. Tigerette had trouble getting out of her own way in this appearance, scoring 27 with three errors in a pitiful game. Moving along, there's Americus playing Accuracy with the red cue as the twenty-second player to finish qualifying. Americus cemented herself as a bounce-back candidate for the Atlantic Pirates, shooting 16 with no errors to cap off a 134 shot qualifying run, easily one of the top scores so far. Next up, Freedom Cascades captain Jasmine is the twenty-third to finish qualifying with the blue cue for Accuracy. Jasmine took 19 shots with no errors, giving her a grand total of 186, well below average in what may lay the foundation for another rough season in Freedom. The afternoon ends with Brownie of the Harrison Specters playing 9-ball with the red cue. Brownie hit 12 with no errors in a crisp third appearance of the season.

The evening begins with Wings of the Pearl Surfers playing Accuracy with the blue cue, the twenty-fourth player to finish qualifying. Wings shot 18 with no errors in the game, and 171 total shots, almost hitting exactly the expected average. Moving along, Ms. Kitty of the Pacific Volcanoes is set for Rotation with the blue cue. Ms. Kitty played terribly, shooting 35 with five errors in a disaster of a game. Next up is Juno of the Modernistic Union, playing 12-ball with the blue cue. Juno hit 22 with one error, navigating a tricky rack fairly deftly. The 44th player drawn today is J. Garcia of the Southridge Defenders, using the blue cue for Rotation. Garcia shot 32 with four errors, doing all she could with a difficult start. The segment wraps up with Snuggle of the Oceanside Waves using the silver cue for 15-ball. Snuggle shot 29 with two errors, failing late in the game with a lot of misses.

Group ten gets going as Bryant of the Lumberjacks appears again for 15-ball with the blue cue this time, shooting 31 with four errors in a very difficult appearance. Continuing along, Bells of the Oceanside Waves plays 9-ball with the silver cue. Bells scored 15 with one error, a fairly average third appearance for her season. Going 48th, Kayla of the Queens Flames steps in for 12-ball with the red cue. Kayla had a most average game, shooting 23 with two errors. Up next, B. Chapman of the Victoria Spurs takes the red cue for Accuracy, the twenty-fifth player to finish qualifying. Chapman shot 18 with no errors in the game for a total of 151 over all qualifiers, a very good opener to her season. Rounding out the group, another Spur, Spice, shoots 12-ball with the blue cue. Spice hit 25 with one error, struggling to have the finishing instinct after a blistering start.

On another night of bonus groups, the eleventh segment starts with Diddley of the Maplewood Lumberjacks using the silver cue for 9-ball. Diddley played poorly, scoring 19 with three errors in a pathetic performance. Going 52nd today is Noelle of the Central Warriors, playing Accuracy with the red cue as the twenty-sixth player to finish. Noelle shot 19 with one error in the game, and 186 overall, a poor series of qualifiers for a player on a championship-caliber team. Next up is Bells of the Waves again, shooting 10-ball with the silver cue to the tune of 16 shots with one error in a solid appearance. Moving along, we have Ice Cream of the Commerce Tradewinds also playing 10-ball but with the blue cue. Ice Cream kept her slate clean through a rough start, and ended on a carom off the 5 to take the 10 in the bottom right on 11 shots with no errors. The group concludes with Amber of the Atlantic Pirates appearing with the red cue for 9-ball. Amber scored 10 with no errors, shooting erratically until a double carom off the 2 and 6 helped her knock the 9 in the top right to end the game.

The final group opens with Pedey of the Diamond Gems shooting 10-ball with the blue cue. Pedey scored 16 with one error in a very solid game. Continuing along, there's Sprinkles of the Capital City Sharpshooters using the silver cue for Rotation. Sprinkles played horrifically, scoring 38 with five errors in a very weak excuse of a game. The 58th player drawn today is Rainmane of the Web City Spiders playing 10-ball with the red cue. Rainmane ended up with 20 shots and two errors in a bit of a challenging rack. Following that, Bells gets another game in for the Waves, playing 12-ball with the red cue. Bells proved clever but inefficient in her game, shooting 24 with no errors, but chasing shots that would have set up easier had she fouled instead. Finally, Bells doubles down, shooting Rotation with the red cue to end the day. Bells had no desire to deal with the process, shooting 36 with five errors in a lazy and poor game.

It appears the shooting dropped off late, which may be a theme this week as the league is unaccustomed to 60 qualifiers a day. We'll be back at it tomorrow anyway.
