2016 Qualifiers - Day 6

Another fifty games are scheduled, pending any disasters in play. We begin the day with...

Midnight of the Westside Rockers playing 8-ball with the red cue. Midnight shot 29 with one error in her second appearance of the season, a rough showing. Next up is Jake of the Royal Crowns, using the silver cue for 9-ball. Jake ended up at 21 with a single error, losing what started as a good game with inaccuracy late. Going third today is Whitewater Shores captain Bear, keeping the silver cue at the table for 12-ball. Bear looked good in shooting 22 with one error in this appearance. Continuing along, we have Golden Pilots captain Valencia using the blue cue for 10-ball. Valencia shot well, scoring 17 with a shocking three errors that actually helped her cause more than they hurt her, as she scored two balls off the errors charged to her. Ending the first group is Hoot of the Pronger Tridents, playing 12-ball with the blue cue. Hoot scored 23 with no errors, electing to avoid a penalty instead by playing the honorable way and slogging to get position.

Group two leads off with Infinity Torpedo Gabe using the red cue to score 13 with one error, ending the appearance early with a 7-10 combination to the bottom right as one of many dazzling shots. Next up, Starlight of the Pacific Volcanoes takes the red cue for 8-ball. Starlight took 22 shots with one error in an average showing, defying the second chalk break and avoiding the curse that comes with it. The eighth player called today is Kiwi of the Terrace City Knights, using the red cue for 12-ball. Kiwi shot a fearless 21 with no errors in a sparkling performance. Following that, there's Capital City Sharpshooter Chris using the red cue for 8-ball. Chris shot 20 with one error in a confident appearance. Ending the second batch is Bear again, using the blue cue for Rotation in his second appearance today. Bear hit 24 with one error, and it could have been even better had the last three balls not proven so difficult.

The third segment begins with Sleepy B. of the Archtown Arrows shooting Rotation with the silver cue. Sleepy B. took 31 shots with two errors in a fairly standard effort. The twelfth player drawn is Whitewater Shore Wild Thing, using the silver cue to shoot 18 in 10-ball, suffering one error but recovering from a slow start very effectively. Moving along, we have Archtown Arrow Dusky making her season debut with the blue cue for 7-ball. Dusky took 14 shots with two errors in a shaky opening qualifier, but she avoided disaster with a bold finish. Stealth of the Swordpoint Blades gets the next game, 9-ball with the red cue. Stealth dominated, needing just 10 shots with no errors to finish the game and find a place high on the leaderboard for this event. Ending the third group, we have Nightfur of the Royal Crowns, shooting 9-ball with the red cue as well. Nightfur continues to struggle, opting to play honorably to a score of 22 with two errors after her first error provided her a chance to end the game early with the next shot that she passed up, potentially regrettably so.

The fourth batch sees Eastside Sharks captain Graham shooting 8-ball with the silver cue. Graham needed only 19 shots with no errors to clear the table in a very good performance. Up next, Tysini Hummingbirds superstar Princess shoots 15-ball with the silver cue. Princess continued an absurdly good pace, shooting 26 with two errors in a brilliant performance. The eighteenth player drawn today is Sierra of the Todavía Stills for 7-ball with the silver cue. Sierra ended up with a mediocre 15 and one error in her season debut, a weak start. Continuing along, there's Cassandra of the Diamond Gems shooting 7-ball with the silver cue. Cassandra pulled off a 10-shot, no error performance in a dazzling display of pinpoint accuracy. Finally, this group ends with Panda of the Southern Monarchs shooting 10-ball with the blue cue. Panda's two errors caught up to him at the end of the game, giving him a score of 20 after he jockeyed on the 10 for awhile.

Group five opens with Neopolitan of the Pearl Surfers playing 9-ball with the silver cue. Neopolitan avoided an error in shooting 15 in her third appearance of the season. Next up is Wild Thing, playing 12-ball with the blue cue in a second appearance for the day. Wild Thing took 18 shots with no errors in another wonderful performance for a potential Ringer Award nominee at this early stage in the season. The 23rd player called today is Twinkie II of the Harrison Specters, keeping the blue cue at the table for 10-ball. Twinkie II scored 18 with a single error near the end of the game. Continuing along, there's Leonardo of the Todavía Stills using the blue cue for 8-ball. Leonardo needed just 20 shots with no errors to clean off the table, an admirable showing. Rounding out this batch, Blizzard of the Everton Eagles shoots 10-ball with the red cue. Blizzard made three errors and needed 21 shots to finish the game.

The sixth group begins with another Eagle, Goldy, shooting 12-ball with the silver cue. Goldy ended up with 20 shots and one error in her effort, a strong appearance. Moving along, Commerce Tradewinds rookie Lorde plays 9-ball with the red cue. Lorde finished the rack in 11 shots, with no errors for a dominant third appearance. Up next is Chris for his second appearance of the day, using the blue cue for 9-ball. Chris ended up shooting 19 with five errors, an embarrassing effort remedied only slightly by the fact that his momentum kept being disrupted as the real-life Starlight jumped on the table three times. Going 29th today is Wild Thing, now playing Rotation with the blue cue. Wild Thing struggled for the first time in the qualifying session, hitting 31 with three errors in a brutal start to this game. The group concludes with Dustin of the Central Warriors playing 8-ball with the blue cue. Dustin pounded 18 shots with no errors in his second appearance, a very good one at that.

The seventh segment starts with Dreamy of the Swordpoint Blades playing 8-ball with the red cue. Dreamy took time hunting down the 8, ending up at 24 shots with no errors in a frustrating finish to what was a good game turned a bit average. Going next is highly-anticipated Victoria Spurs rookie Yekaterina Vasilyeva, making her league debut with the blue cue for 7-ball. The hype appears legitimate so far, as Yekaterina scored 7 with one error in her first league appearance. Following that is Bryant of the Maplewood Lumberjacks, using the silver cue for 9-ball. Bryant need 20 shots with one error to mop up this rack, continuing a rough qualifying season for him. The 34th player drawn today is Frosty of the Royal Crowns, shooting 9-ball with the red cue. Frosty ended up at 17 but with three brutal errors to water down a decent effort. Ending the group, we have Neopolitan appearing again for 10-ball with the silver cue. Neopolitan salvaged a scored of 20 with three errors marring the effort.

Group eight begins with Americus of the Atlantic Pirates playing 9-ball with the red cue. Americus needed only 16 shots but with two errors included in a trying game. The 37th player called today is Taylor Swift, playing 10-ball with the blue cue for the Eastside Sharks. Taylor wrapped her game up at an impressive 14 with two errors included, a remarkable effort that has her eying a big sophomore season. Next up is Twinkie II for another appearance today, playing 12-ball with the blue cue. Twinkie II needed just 15 shots with no errors in a brilliant and quick game. Kirstin gets the next game, with the Southern Monarchs rookie called to play 8-ball with the red cue. Kirstin cleared the table in 20 shots with a single error, a very good appearance for her. Ending the afternoon, we have Chimpy of the Modernistic Union playing 9-ball with the blue cue. Chimpy sank three balls on the break and ended up needing just 1 shot from play, a carom off the 1 that coasted the 9 to the bottom right for a clean, no-error performance in utter brilliance.

The evening begins with group nine, led by Frosty in another appearance for the Crowns captain today, using the blue cue for 10-ball. Frosty made two errors over 14 shots, ending with a hard carom off the 7 to take the 10 to the bottom right. Next up is Roxy of the Freedom Cascades, shooting 9-ball with the red cue. Roxy needed just 3 shots, ending early with a kick-combination of the 1-9 off the bottom rail to the top side in a very effective finishing move for a good performance. The 43rd player of the day is Dusty of the Golden Pilots, keeping the red cue at the table for 8-ball. Dusty shot 19 with no errors in an impressive performance. Continuing along, we have Terrace City Knight Jennifer Livilotti also shooting 8-ball with the red cue. Jennifer took 33 shots with two errors in a very trying game, likely not endearing herself to the Terrace City fans. The segment wraps up with Cowzart of the Pearl Surfers shooting 9-ball with the blue cue. Cowzart suffered a series of flubs but recovered with a 6-9 combination to the top side to end the game at 14 shots with one error.

The last group of the day gets going with Bells of the Oceanside Waves shooting with the red cue in 7-ball. Bells made a statement in shooting 6 for her season debut, avoiding an error in an utterly dominant showing. Following that is Strut of the Golden Pilots with his 12-ball qualifier, using the blue cue to shoot 20 with no errors in a somewhat disorganized yet effective appearance. Up next, we have Pounce of the Oceanside Waves playing 8-ball with the red cue to the tune of 29 shots after his single error was scratching while potting the 8. The 49th player called today is Cowzart again, playing 10-ball this time with the blue cue. Cowzart made the unpopular move after his second error to end the game early on 17 shots with an 8-10 combination to the bottom left that drew the ire of many opponents. The final player hopes to erase Cowzart's controversy, and that task falls to Diamond Gems rookie Pedey, playing 9-ball with the blue cue. Pedey did just that, shocking the crowd with the first 0 in 9-ball this season, taking it on the break for an error-free finale to the day.

SCL action is next, and more qualifiers tomorrow as usual.
