We're approaching the end of the qualifiers, with 65 games scheduled for today. We begin with...
Leandra of the Tysini Hummingbirds playing 12-ball with the silver cue. Leandra shot 24 with one error in a reasonable game. Whiskers of the Infinity Torpedoes is next, playing the last 9-ball qualifier with the silver cue. Whiskers took 18 shots with two errors in the appearance, a below-average effort. Now, the next event to finish is 10-ball, with four remaining players. Next up is Twinkie I of the Lighton Prestige, the eighty-fourth player to finish qualifying by playing Accuracy with the blue cue. Twinkie I shot 18 with no errors in a solid effort, and ended with 162 total shots, better than the average score. The fourth player of the day is Paige of the Queens Flames, shooting Accuracy with the blue cue as the eighty-fifth player to finish qualifying. Paige shot 22 with one error in a rough game, but finished with the second-best overall score so far, 131 total shots in an excellent opening campaign. Rounding out the first group is Dreamy of the Swordpoint Blades, using the blue cue for 10-ball. Dreamy took only 8 shots with one error to finish her appearance, ending on a 3-10 combination to the bottom right.
The second segment kicks off with Bryant of the Maplewood Lumberjacks playing Accuracy with the red cue, the eighty-sixth player to finish qualifying. Bryant scored 20 with no errors, a decent total, but his overall 198 score is the second-worst so far, which will mean he's got a lot of B-level appearances coming up. Continuing along, we have Amber of the Atlantic Pirates using the silver cue for Rotation. Amber needed only 23 shots with two errors in a very confident game. The eighth player of the day is Patches of the Boston Swifts, shooting with the blue cue in Rotation for a score of 28 with two errors in a fairly standard go of things. Moving along, there's Missy of the Capital City Sharpshooters finishing her qualifying with Accuracy and the silver cue, the eighty-seventh player to do so. Missy scored 19 with no errors in the game, and finished with 174 total shots, a little worse than the expected average. The segment closes with Nightfur of the Royal Crowns playing Rotation with the silver cue. Nightfur kept a clean game, shooting 22 with no errors in a sparkling performance.
Group three gets going as Rainmane of the Web City Spiders shot Accuracy with the silver cue, the eighty-eighth player to finish qualifying. Rainmane scored 21 with no errors in the game, and 170 total, slightly better than average. Up next is Leandra of the Hummingbirds, returning to the table for Rotation with the red cue. Leandra knocked all the balls in pockets in 30 shots, with three errors, hovering around the average. Moving along, we have Pounce of the Oceanside Waves playing 15-ball with the silver cue. Pounce scored 25 with one error in a very solid showing, getting many favorable bounces early. The fourteenth player drawn today is Shiny of the Web City Spiders, shooting 15-ball with the silver cue as well. Shiny cleared the table in 24 shots with only two errors, a very good game. The morning portion ends with Precious of the Pronger Tridents using the blue cue for 15-ball. Precious scored 31 with three errors, a bit of a rough game for the veteran.
Leading off group four and the afternoon, Stealth of the Swordpoint Blades shoots Accuracy with the silver cue, the eighty-ninth player to finish qualifying. Stealth ended the game with 19 shots and no errors, landing right on the expected average of 172 for all of his games. Up next is Chelsea of the Eastside Sharks, using the blue cue for 12-ball. Chelsea scored 19 with no errors in a very strong game. Moving along, there's Slinks of the Harrison Specters playing Rotation with the red cue. Slinks hit 31 with three errors in a workable effort. The nineteenth player called today is Dreamy of the Blades, appearing in her second game of the day with the blue cue for 12-ball. Dreamy struggled a bit, ending with 23 shots and three errors in the game. The group concludes with Puff I of the Modernistic Union using the red cue for 15-ball. Puff I took 28 shots with six errors in a game that showed blatant disregard for the penalties that can be activated.
The fifth group begins with Lionel of the Commerce Tradewinds playing 15-ball with the blue cue. Lionel played horribly, scoring 44 with seven errors in a game that saw absolutely nothing go right. Next up is Pedey of the Diamond Gems, using the red cue for 15-ball. Pedey took 33 shots with four errors, a slight bounce-back compared to the previous player. The 23rd player of the day is Shelley of the Infinity Torpedoes, playing 12-ball with the red cue. Shelley had an odd happening in her 25 shot game with one error, avoiding a second error at the end of the game when the 5 dropped in the top left untouched. Since the game ends automatically when the final ball is legally potted, the lack of contact from the cue voided the shot and gave her a slightly better score. Following that weird challenge to the rule book, we have Sparkles of the Todavía Stills shooting Accuracy with the silver cue, the ninetieth player to finish qualifying. Sparkles shot 19 with one error, which was a blooper-reel attempt at breaking that saw the cue graze the rack and fall into the top right. This all led her to 173 total shots, just one off the expected average. Wrapping up the oddball group, we have Dusky of the Archtown Arrows shooting Rotation with the red cue. Dusky had the best of the bunch, with 24 shots and only one error in a confident game.
Segment six opens with Dreamy of the Blades making another appearance, shooting Rotation with the blue cue to the tune of 26 shots with one error, a very strong showing for the late-arriving veteran. The 27th player drawn today is Kayla of the Queens Flames, playing 15-ball with the silver cue. Kayla finished at a score of 24 with two errors, ending with an 11-15 combination to the top side that also took the 13 to the bottom left on a double-pot. Continuing along, there's Bright of the Tysini Hummingbirds stepping in for 15-ball with the silver cue. Bright needed 19 shots with two errors before converting a 7-15 combination to the bottom right to end his appearance early. Following that, Twinkie III of the Whitewater Shores uses the blue cue in 12-ball to score 22 with two errors in a sloppy but effective effort. The batch ends with Amber of the Pirates coming back to the table for her 15-ball game with the red cue. Amber shot 24 with two errors in a very solid showing.
Batch seven starts as Jennifer Livilotti of the Terrace City Knights shoots 15-ball with the red cue, scoring 34 with two errors, butchering the game early and late with a decent middle portion. Next up is Shiny of the Spiders, appearing in her final qualifier, Accuracy with the blue cue, as the ninety-first player to finish. Shiny shot 15 with no errors in the game, ending her session with 147 total shots, a great performance that has her on the short list for early Comeback Player of the Year candidates, as the Spiders seem to have unlocked her potential so far. Following that, Ms. Puppy of the Modernistic Union played her Accuracy game as the ninety-second player to finish with the silver cue. Ms. Puppy needed a whopping 24 shots with one error in a poorly played game, ending at an exceptional 138 total shots, making the Union look brilliant for retaining her. The 34th player called today is Acorn of the Lighton Prestige, finishing his qualifying as the ninety-third player to play Accuracy, using the blue cue. Acorn needed only 19 shots in the game, with no errors, and finished all qualifiers with a grand total of 147, another very good overall performance. The batch finishes with Precious of the Tridents making her Accuracy appearance with the silver cue, the ninety-fourth player to finish qualifying. Precious took 19 shots with no errors, and finished with 163 total shots across all games, a bit better than the expected average.
The eighth group gets going with Gems captain Smokey appearing with the blue cue for 15-ball. Smokey did a bit of gamesmanship, shooting 26 but with five errors, four of which were intentional to help grease the gears of the game. The 37th player of the day is Yekaterina Vasilyeva of the Victoria Spurs, as the rookie shoots 15-ball with the silver cue. Yekaterina started rough, with two errors in her 9 shot game being drastically mitigated by her 2-15 combination to the bottom right that saw her execute the shot perfectly to end the game. Following that, Jack of the Pacific Volcanoes is called for Rotation with the red cue. Jack recorded a 26 shot effort with one error, and that one error led to a triple-pot that sent the 6 to the top right and the 3 and 10 to the bottom right on illegal contact, unintentional. Moving along, we have Amber of the Pirates ending her qualifiers as the ninety-fifth player to finish, using the blue cue for Accuracy. Amber finished the game with 19 shots and a single error, for a total of 138 across all qualifiers, an exceptional total. The segment concludes with Yekaterina Vasilyeva returning for Accuracy with the blue cue, as the Spurs rookie becomes the ninety-sixth player to finish qualifying. Yekaterina played dominantly, shooting 16 in the game with no errors to finalize her total at 148, a very reliable score that could bode well for her Rookie of the Year campaign.
Group nine kicks off with Diddley of the Maplewood Lumberjacks playing 12-ball with the red cue to the tune of 22 shots with one error in the slightly sloppy but average game. Continuing along, we have Lionel of the Tradewinds ending his qualifying series with Accuracy and the red cue, the ninety-seventh player to reach completion. Lionel ended up at 19 shots in the game with no errors, a confident performance, and ended his sessions with 178 total shots, marred by his 15-ball to go slightly worse than average. The 43rd player drawn today is Spirit, shooting 10-ball with the red cue. Spirit ended with 20 shots and two errors in an acceptable fourth appearance of the season. Next up, Dusty of the Golden Pilots becomes the ninety-eighth player to finish qualifying by playing Accuracy with the silver cue. Dusty shot 21 with no errors, a reasonable game that put her at 174 total shots, a little below the expected average performance. Rounding out the group, Zach of the Viewpoint Sound Meteors is the ninety-ninth player to finish qualifying as he shoots Accuracy with the red cue to the tune of 22 shots and no errors in the game, for a total of 160 shots, coming in better than average. Three-quarters of all players are now finished shooting.
The tenth batch opens with Nightfur of the Crowns making another appearance, using the silver cue for 15-ball. Nightfur shot 26 with three errors in a sloppy game that ended well. Moving along, we have Boots of the Southridge Defenders also using the silver cue for 15-ball. Boots stumbled her way to 31 shots and three errors in a sloppy game. Up next is Sierra of the Todavía Stills, appearing again for 12-ball with the blue cue. Sierra had a forgettable game, shooting 27 with five errors, a collection of poorly conducted shots that went as wrong as possible. The 49th player of the day is Sprinkles of the Sharpshooters again, who will be the one-hundredth player to finish qualifying as she shoots Accuracy with the blue cue. Sprinkles needed 25 shots without an error to clear the table, ending her qualifying with a total of 176 shots, a little worse than average. Wrapping up this segment, we have Specters captain Slinks playing 15-ball with the blue cue. Slinks did not do well, needed 35 shots with three errors to complete the game.
The eleventh group starts with Twinkie III playing Rotation with the blue cue. Twinkie III shot a strong 23 with two errors, as part of her plan to keep the game moving around the one-third mark. Following that, Slinks is the 101st player to finish, using the red cue for Accuracy. Slinks finished with 23 shots and no errors in a poor effort, for a total of 168, a little better than average. Going 53rd today is Shaggy of the Southridge Defenders, using the silver cue in Rotation to score 25 with three errors in a decent showing. Moving along, we have Midnight of the Westside Rockers playing 15-ball with the red cue. Midnight scuffled to 31 shots with three errors in a difficult performance. Ending the extremely hot afternoon, Sugar of the Web City Spiders plays 15-ball with the red cue. Sugar shot 21 with three errors, ending on a carom off the 5 (which sank in the bottom left) to somehow drive the 15 into the top left off the 14 for the early victory. Had she not done that, her score would have been pretty bad.
Leading off group twelve and the short evening session, Spirit of the Prestige plays 12-ball with the silver cue. Spirit scored 22 with no errors in her appearance, a decent score. Next up, we have Pounce of the Waves wrapping up his qualifiers, the 102nd player to do so, with the red cue in hand for Accuracy. Pounce shot 21 with no errors, a solid effort that left him with a total of 165 shots, better than the expected average. The 58th player drawn today is Twinkie III of the Shores, playing 15-ball with the silver cue in her second game of the day. Twinkie III ended up at 34 shots, but with four errors watering down an already-tough rack. Continuing along, there's Dusky of the Arrows appearing again for 15-ball with the red cue. Dusky shot 28 with two errors, navigating a decent rack effectively. The group closes with Shadow of the Web City Spiders shooting Rotation with the red cue. Shadow shot 30 with two errors, a fairly average effort, although he finally took an error after five clean games.
The final group of the day gets going with Sugar of the Spiders becoming the 103rd player to finish qualifying by using the blue cue for Accuracy. Sugar shot 22 in the game, with no errors, for a grand total of 145, a very strong overall score. The 62nd player called today is Whiskers of the Infinity Torpedoes for 10-ball with the blue cue. Whiskers struggled with 22 shots and a surprising five errors, mostly for illegally potted balls. Up next, we have Crystal of the Flames shooting 15-ball red in another appearance. Crystal played the worst game of qualifiers yet, 46 shots with six errors, a pitiful effort that will certainly be the bottom of the stack. Continuing along, there's Chelsea of the Sharks playing Rotation with the blue cue. Chelsea composed a much better game, shooting 27 with no errors with enviable control and pace. The day ends as Nightfur of the Crowns is the 104th player to finish qualifying (and the twenty-first to do so today), with the silver cue in hand for Accuracy. Nightfur ended the game with 21 shots and no errors, for a total of 166 shots, a little better than average.
Tomorrow, we will bring the qualifying sessions to an end. Twenty-eight players will participate tomorrow, with everything from 10-ball to Accuracy on the table. There will be a total of 55 games, likely all played in the afternoon if I have things my way. After that, it will get a bit quiet on here. One reminder: no schedules will be posted for first round action, as that is always decided randomly on the spot. My intention is, starting a week from today or tomorrow, the B-level brackets should be started and completed before August 16th. This is only an estimate, and obviously this is all pending unforeseen crises. I will try to keep you all updated as I can.
