A few more games of the SCL in this post, as we attempt to stay on schedule for the summer. We begin with...
The Caracas Hitmen hosting the Prague Checkmates. Pancho Barrios began with 490 for Prague in a strong start. Vitaya Grichson continued to slump for Caracas, hitting a measly 25. Lucila Zavala also had a misplay, scoring 39 points for the Checkmates as the game turns comically bad. Barasa Contee lifted 153 for the Hitmen as they continue to struggle. Hyunjae Kwak blasted 672 to add onto the Prague lead. Caracas got only 40 from Noppadon Gruemor as the game gets out of hand. Corentin Aerts tacked on 520 for the Checkmates as they take a stranglehold grip on the game. Trevor Watson stumbled to 49 for the hapless Hitmen. Darryl Estrada tallied 216 for Prague as they begin to calmly coast to the finish. Maynard Cabagnot grabbed 245 for Caracas in their best effort so far. Rayan Carranza only had 28 for the Checkmates, giving them 1965 total. The Hitmen lost with 590 after only 78 from Bojing Luo. Prague is now 8-8 while Caracas falls to 3-12.
Next up, the Guatemala Conquistadors welcome the Johannesburg Lions. Wiebe Becker began with a big 724 for Johannesburg. Frisco Romero answered with 388 for Guatemala. Normando Alonso managed 175 out of a very difficult turn for the Lions. Eustacio Zarraga pulled the Conquistadors to the lead with 862 in his turn. Ken Howard belted 388 for Johannesburg, keeping things close. Kenzo Hashimoto produced 211 for Guatemala. Lucio Adame dominated again for the Lions, slugging 996. Curtis Caldwell shot back by launching 718 for the Conquistadors. Oshri Aharonov cobbled together 240 for Johannesburg. Azul Mora grabbed only 141 for Guatemala. Pieter Hendrickx took just 36 points to give the Lions a final of 2559. Adrien Laurent batted 103 for the Conquistadors, as they lost with 2423. Johannesburg moves to 9-8 while Guatemala stays just narrowly ahead at 9-7 after the thriller of a game.
The Johannesburg Lions return home to host the Bangkok Sixes next. Firdoze Uns managed only 82 points for Bangkok at the start. Wiebe Becker again stepped up, crushing 692 for Johannesburg for the early lead. Gilbert Berry's post-All Star fall continued with a 72-point effort for the Sixes here. Fellow former catcher Normando Alonso hit 272 for the Lions, adding to the lead. Aleix Nieto slapped 384 for Bangkok to show some life for them. Ken Howard poked 241 for Johannesburg. Zuri Okafor crushed 846 for the Sixes, giving them a slight lead. Lucio Adame got cut down at 147 for the Lions, keeping the game incredibly close. Rodas Nunez grabbed 152 for Bangkok on his turn. Oshri Aharonov, appearing fatigued, hit just 54 for Johannesburg. Luis Godinez failed to secure the game for the Sixes, hitting 49 to give them a final of 1585, well within range. Pieter Hendrickx punished the mistake, ripping 361 to give the Lions a final of 1767. Johannesburg is now 10-8 while Bangkok drops to 11-8.
Up in Spain, the Madrid Toros bring in the Prague Checkmates. Pancho Barrios opened with 544 for Prague. Spencer Howard had only 157 for Madrid. Lucila Zavala managed 96 for the Checkmates in a weak effort. Pepillo Gamboa only took 168 back for the Toros as the game stagnates. The play continues to be poor as Hyunjae Kwak posted 93 for Prague in another meager turn. Lennert Verheyen sliced 281 to get Madrid a little closer. A swing-and-miss routine left Corentin Aerts at 99 for the Checkmates, as they appear in no rush to secure the game. Thabo Chahine squandered the chance to catch up for the Toros, hitting a measly 42 as frustration takes over for both teams. Darryl Estrada changed the narrative for Prague, lining 717 to make it a much larger lead for the visitors. Guillem Gamboa couldn't keep up for Madrid, with only 183 points. Rayan Carranza exploded to the tune of 560 for the Checkmates, producing their final of 2109. Martin Badillo's 192 made it 1023 total for the Toros in a brutal loss. Prague jumps to 9-8 while Madrid drops to 10-9.
Finally, the Manila Pacmen host the Caracas Hitmen. Vitaya Grichson had a measly 12 points for Caracas at the start. Haejun Ki answered with 304 for Manila, getting them off to a good start. Barasa Contee got the Hitmen going with 561. Porfirio Cazares had only 69 as the Pacmen fell behind. Noppadon Gruemor poked 368 for Caracas to add onto their lead. Sander Verheyen answered with 665 to pull Manila into the lead again. Trevor Watson kept the Hitmen going, pummeling 716 to retake the lead. Gerben Bovelt faltered with 225 for the Pacmen, falling into a severe deficit. Maynard Cabagnot had only 104 for Caracas, leaving them a little vulnerable. Dries Renard got 185 back for Manila, shrinking the deficit slightly. Bojing Luo had a measly 6 points for the Hitmen, leaving them at 1767 total. Richard miller chipped 225 for the Pacmen, but they lost with 1673. Caracas stays alive at 4-12 while Manila slides to 8-9, sitting outside the playoff zone.
