2016 Qualifiers - Day 8

We're back for the usual slate of qualifying games today. We begin with...

Shannon of the Southern Monarchs shooting Rotation with the red cue. Shannon shot 24 with one error in a good first game of the day. Next up, we have Roxy of the Freedom Cascades, playing 12-ball with the blue cue. Roxy played excellently, needing only 18 shots with one error in this appearance. Going third is Delila of the Atlantic Pirates for 10-ball with the blue cue. Delila finished the rack in 20 shots, but with four errors as well in a difficult run. Up next, there's Chicky Phil of the Westside Rockers playing 10-ball with the red cue. Chicky Phil ended up with 16 shots and only one error in a dominant performance. Ending the first group, Diddley of the Maplewood Lumberjacks makes his season debut with the red cue for 7-ball. Diddley took 14 shots with one error in a below-average debut.

Group two sees Charli XCX of the Tysini Hummingbirds play 9-ball with the blue cue, scoring 17 with one error in an average effort. Moving along, we have Americus of the Atlantic Pirates, keeping the blue cue at the table for 10-ball. Americus ended up scoring 25 with a whopping six errors in a gag reel of follies. Up next is Jasmine of the Freedom Cascades, playing 10-ball with the silver cue. Jasmine took 22 shots with two errors in a mediocre showing. Snuggle of the Oceanside Waves picks up the next game, playing 9-ball with the blue cue for a score of 6, ending on a carom off the 2 to take the 9 into the top left, with no errors. Snuggle spent most of his shots aiming for a carom and got it quickly enough for a very good score. Rounding out the batch, Smudge of the Infinity Torpedoes takes the silver cue for 10-ball. Smudge ended up with 19 shots and one error in a strong showing.

The third segment leads off with Royal Crown Nightfur continuing 10-ball with the silver cue in her appearance. Nightfur ended the game early on a 4-10 combination to the bottom right for a 15 shot score and two errors in a sloppy but quick game. Going twelfth today is Stealth of the Swordpoint Blades, with the blue cue for another 10-ball game. Stealth took 20 shots with one error in an unremarkable showing. Following that is Dustin of the Central Warriors using the silver cue for 9-ball. Dustin cleared the rack in 13 shots with no errors in a solid performance. Continuing along, we have Stripes of the Terrace City Knights playing 9-ball with the silver cue to the tune of 2 shots and no errors, with a good break leading her to a 1-9 combination at the top right on her second shot from play. Two balls went down on the break, and two more nearly did as well in a very solid outing. Finishing up this group is Dominic of the Atlantic Pirates, shooting with the blue cue in 8-ball. Dominic shot 23 with one error in an average showing.

The fourth group starts as Leonardo of the Todavía Stills gets called for 9-ball with the blue cue, scoring 18 with three errors in a poor performance. Strawberry of the Pronger Tridents gets the next game, shooting 12-ball with the blue cue. Strawberry shot 20 with no errors in a solid showing. The eighteenth player drawn today is A. Charlton of the Golden Pilots, playing 8-ball with the red cue. Charlton struggled early, which led her to a score of 23 with one error in a challenging game. Moving along, we have Sparkles of the Todavía Stills shooting 10-ball with the red cue. Sparkles played well, shooting 17 despite two errors that couldn't slow her down. The segment ends as Commerce Tradewind Ice Cream shoots 8-ball with the silver cue, scoring 19 with no errors in a pristine effort.

The fifth batch gets going with Chris of the Capital City Sharpshooters playing 10-ball with the silver cue. Chris ended at 18 shots with no errors in a solid effort, but nothing spectacular. Going 22nd today is Mr. Snowman of the Viewpoint Sound Meteors, debuting with 7-ball and the blue cue. Mr. Snowman shot 10 with one error in a good season debut. Next up is Smudge for her second game of the day, 12-ball with the red cue. Smudge scored 21 with a single error in a decent showing. The next player drawn is Dani of the Capital City Sharpshooters, keeping the red cue at the table for more 12-ball. Dani played miserably, especially late, committing four errors while shooting 33 shots in a very poor game. Rounding out this group is Alyssa of the Oceanside Waves, playing 10-ball with the blue cue. Alyssa ended with 19 shots despite two errors for an average performance.

Group six opens with Charli XCX appearing again for the Hummingbirds, with the red cue in 10-ball this time. Charli shot 19 with one error, dazzling with a jump shot make on the 3 to the bottom right followed by a 4-6 combination to the bottom left early in the game before she faded late in an altogether decent game. The next player called is Bryant of the Maplewood Lumberjacks, scoring 23 in 12-ball with the red cue, including one error. Next up is Ms. Puppy of the Modernistic Union, using the red cue in 10-ball to score 16 with no errors in a sparkling appearance. The 29th player of the day is Jasmine, playing 12-ball with the silver cue in her second appearance of the day. Jasmine hit 29 with three errors in a trying rack. The group concludes with Maplewood Lumberjacks captain Fluffina shooting 8-ball with the blue cue. Fluffina let things get out of control, sinking the 8 illegally for a severe penalty and ending at 31 with three errors in a very bad showing.

The seventh group begins with Sprinkles of the Capital City Sharpshooters, using the blue cue to score 10 with two errors in 9-ball. Sprinkles saw the 9 potted illegally after a scratch, forcing her to clear the table, which also ended in a scratch, but she was precise all around those two big errors. Going next is Puff III of the Everton Eagles, also shooting 9-ball but with the red cue. Puff III hit 20 with no errors in her game, shooting straight fire early on before losing all accuracy in the middle of the game. The 33rd player drawn today is Valencia of the Golden Pilots, shooting 12-ball with the blue cue. Valencia shot 24 but with three errors after a rough attempt to get position on the last pocket she needed. Continuing along, there's Shawn of the Swordpoint Blades, shooting Rotation with the red cue. Shawn played chaotically, shooting 30 with six errors, which isn't too bad with all things considered. The batch concludes with Sydney Sierota of the Harrison Specters shooting 12-ball with the red cue. Sydney scored 17 with one error in a confident performance, shaking her rookie jitters pretty well in a tough game.

The eighth segment begins with Acorn of the Lighton Prestige making his season debut in 7-ball with the blue cue. Acorn has been late to arrive this season, but he's worth the wait, shooting 0 by making the 7 on the break to the top side for an error-free debut. Following that spectacular game, there's Nicole of the Southern Monarchs, shooting 9-ball with the blue cue. Nicole nearly matched the theatrics of Acorn, shooting 1 shot from open play, a hard carom off the 1 to pot the 9 in the top side to end her turn with no errors. Next up, Debby Ryan of the Southridge Defenders has to follow two great games by playing 9-ball with the red cue, a tough ask. Debby did the best she could, shooting 14 with one error in a reasonable follow-up. The 39th player drawn today is Lorde, the Commerce Tradewinds rookie, playing 10-ball with the blue cue. Lorde stayed around average, scoring 19 with one error in a decent appearance. Wrapping up this exciting group is the Pilots' Charlton, shooting 9-ball with the silver cue. Charlton shot 15 with one error in a reasonably good performance.

Group nine starts with Nicole appearing again for the Monarchs, using the silver cue in 10-ball to score 22 with three errors in a less-than-resounding follow-up to her previous thriller. The 42nd player of the day is Whiskers, making her season debut in 7-ball for the Infinity Torpedoes with the silver cue in hand. Whiskers gunned down three balls on the break and needed only 6 shots total for an error-free debut. Up next is Web City Spiders captain Shadow, shooting 8-ball with the silver cue. Shadow had the worst break of the qualifying sessions, as nothing moved all that much, but he worked his way to 26 with no errors to make chicken soup out of chicken-something-else. The next player drawn is Archtown Arrow Sally, who shot 10-ball with the red cue to the tune of 16 shots and only one error in an impressive showing. Ending the afternoon, we have Goatee of the Westside Rockers playing 9-ball with the blue cue. Goatee ended with three errors and 16 shots in an acceptable effort.

The final group of the day leads off with Noelle of the Central Warriors playing 10-ball with the blue cue. Noelle ended with 16 shots and two errors in a dominant effort. Next up is Slinks of the Harrison Specters, shooting 9-ball with the red cue. Slinks continued an excellent qualifiers session with a score of 12 and only one error, impressing in third appearance of the season. Continuing along, there's Sugar of the Web City Spiders, making her debut in 7-ball with the red cue. Sugar ended up at 11 with one error in a solid performance to open her season. Going 49th today is Sweetheart of the Boston Swifts, playing 10-ball with the blue cue. Sweetheart ended up with a miserable game, shooting 27 with four errors in a disaster of a rack. Closing out the day, we have Kelly of the Viewpoint Sound Meteors also playing 10-ball with the blue cue. Kelly shot 23 with two errors in a mediocre effort.

There's just five players left to appear this season, four of them from Solid Core. After they appear, 7-ball will be done and 8-ball will take the focus as the straggling game. The main focus now is 9-ball and 10-ball, as many players are in that range while a select few are beyond that and a handful are still on 8-ball. Remember, tomorrow will have cricket and pool in their usual portions.
