The Tournament returns for a new day of first-round action. Leading off...
BMW RockDome, Westside: Goatee v. Jason N. The blue cue is first in line for a 7-ball series to start the day. Westside's Goatee needed only two turns to claim the win, ending with a three-ball run-out after Atlantic's Jason N. committed a scratch after making a pair of shots. Goatee leads the series 1-0. The Pirates' Jason N. did a better job in game 2 of using defensive positioning, stymieing most of the attack for the Rockers' Goatee. Jason N. then converted a 4-7 combination to the bottom right for the win to tie the series at 1. Goatee again struggled for offense in game 3, leading Jason N. to taking a four-ball run-out for the win and 2-1 series win. Jason N. made the comeback to get to the second round.
BMW RockDome, Westside: Goatee v. Jack. The host completes an early-day doubleheader with the blue cue in 8-ball. Westside's Goatee posted a four-ball run in game 1 at one stage, but she tried to play through the defense of Web City's Jack. It failed, giving Jack a tap-in on the 8 to the bottom right for his 1-0 series lead. The Rockers' Goatee again had a run, making three straight before a miss. The Spiders' Jack wouldn't let her get away, assembling a four-ball run-out to claim game 2 and clinch the series at 2-0. Jack went empty on the break in game 3, but his second turn was an eight-ball run-out, executing his shots to perfection to earn the 3-0 series sweep. Jack will enjoy a spot in the second round.
Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: Missy v. Sydney S. A pair of veterans keep the blue cue in action for 12-ball. Capital City's Missy gave away a wild-card ball on the break, which Harrison's Sydney S. greatly enjoyed. Sydney S. made a three-ball run early and then plucked the last two shots patiently for the win and a 1-0 lead in the series. The Specters' Sydney S. went off with a four-ball run from the break in game 2, and while the Sharpshooters' Missy kept it close, Sydney S. was unchallenged on her final pair of shots for the win. Sydney S. holds a 2-0 series lead. Sydney S. employed a patient strategy in game 3, which paid off when she cashed in a five-ball run-out to secure a 3-0 series sweep over Missy. This puts Sydney S. into round two.
Pepsi Arena, Lighton: Shiny v. Sweetheart. The red cue takes a turn today in 9-ball before the lunch break. Lighton's Shiny had a five-ball run to start game 1, but she came away empty-handed after missing a tap-in on the 9. Boston's Sweetheart converted instead, taking the win for a 1-0 advantage. The Swifts' Sweetheart did plenty to earn her win in game 2, pulling off a two-rail bank-combination, 8-9 to the top right, to seal a four-ball run-out for the win. This clinched the series at 2-0 over the Prestige's Shiny. In game 3, Sweetheart struggled to get any offense going. Shiny capitalized by kicking the 4-9 combination to the bottom right to avoid the sweep in a 2-1 series. Sweetheart still moves on to the second round.
IBM Cathedral, North Modernistic: Lionel v. Stealth. The red cue gets another look in 9-ball after the break. Swordpoint's Stealth began with a four-ball run in game 1, but he cooled off as North Modernistic's Lionel heated up late. Lionel ultimately made the final pair for the win and 1-0 series lead. The players reversed roles in game 2, with the Nighthawks' Lionel excelling on offense only for the Blades' Stealth to snag some late shots for the win, which tied the series at 1. In game 3, both players had their turns on offense, with Stealth ultimately prevailing on a strong pair of shots at the end. Stealth took the series 2-1 over Lionel to earn a spot in the second round.
Mercedes-Benz Forum, Harrison: Sydney S. v. Cobalt. The host returns home to play 8-ball with the silver cue in her second series today. Harrison's Sydney S. couldn't gain any traction on offense in game 1, making for a very lopsided win by Stonebridge's Cobalt, which puts the visitor ahead 1-0 in the series. Game 2 went better for the Specters' Sydney S., who had to fight off a rush from the Wolves' Cobalt as he made six balls over two turns. Sydney S. then shut the door with a three-ball run-out for the win to tie the series at 1. Sydney S. pulled ahead in game 3 with a five-ball run and then bested Cobalt down the stretch for another win. Sydney S. takes the 2-1 series win with her to the second round.
Apple Center, Todavía: Bells v. Delila. Two original players clash now with the silver cue in Rotation. Atlantic's Delila had a five-ball run early in game 1, including a double-pot of the 4 and 12 to the sides, and she made that lead stand despite a late rally from Todavía's Bells to tie the game. Delila took the 15 at the top left, winning 8-7 for the 1-0 series lead. The Stills' Bells lacked all-out offense in game 2, but she consistently stayed ahead of the Pirates' Delila. Bells keyed a rally with a deflection to pot the 9 at the top side, ending on a three-ball run-out for an 8-2 win to tie the series at 1. Bells couldn't replicate the effort in game 3, as Delila made the first four balls and cruised to an 8-5 win after that. Delila won the series 2-1 to get into round two.
Nestle's Warriors Hall, Central: Noelle v. Slinks. The red cue is back for 9-ball again between new club-mates. Central's Noelle had a four-ball run to open game 1, but she didn't get much after that, and Westside's Slinks picked up the win with a three-ball run-out at the end. Slinks lead the series 1-0. The Rockers' Slinks began game 2 on a four-ball run, but she missed a later 6-9 combination to the top right. The Warriors' Noelle swooped in on a four-ball run-out, rallying back to tie the series at 1 with her win. Slinks had some offense in the middle of game 3, but again couldn't strike late, as Noelle rallied on a three-ball run-out for the win. Noelle took the series 2-1 as she heads to the second round.
Chevrolet Center, Everton: Kirstin v. Gal. The red cue stays up in the Northeast for this 15-ball series. North Modernistic's Gal took over with a six-ball run late in the game, and she picked up the 15 at the top left as well after a tough battle with Everton's Kirstin at the end. Gal owns a 1-0 series lead. The Nighthawks' Gal made it a quick finish in game 2, potting the 1 to the top right and then kicking the 2-15 combination through traffic to the bottom side to stun the Eagles' Kirstin. The remarkable trick shot gave Gal the series at 2-0. Gal didn't have as much fun in a chippy game 3, which saw Gal position herself poorly at the end, allowing Kirstin to pot the 15 to the bottom right from ball-in-hand. Gal still won the series 2-1, and she'll visit the Maplewood Lumberjacks' Gabe in the second round.
Gillette Center, Swordpoint: Dreamy v. Bianca. The red cue continues to play in this 12-ball series. An abundance of caution in game 1 saw less efficiency in favor of maintaining positioning. Swordpoint's Dreamy eventually tried defense late, but Southridge's Bianca kicked in her last ball for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Blades' Dreamy rallied with a five-ball run in game 2, taking advantage of the Defenders' Bianca being wildly out of position after a scratch. Dreamy eventually earned ball-in-hand and put the 4 in the bottom left for the win, tying the series at 1. Bianca started hot with a four-ball run, which could have been more had she not rattled the 6 out of the bottom left. This bought Dreamy a little time, but her positioning failed, and Bianca took her time to patiently make her last two shots for the win and 2-1 series win. Bianca is off to the second round.
Coca-Cola Field Exhibition Center, Boston: Sweetheart v. Sierra. The blue cue is back for another 7-ball series today. Neither player grabbed control of game 1, leading to Todavía's Sierra taking the 1-0 series lead with a pair of shots at the end after Boston's Sweetheart whiffed on the 6. The Swifts' Sweetheart did everything but win in game 2, rallying with a six-ball run before missing the 7 to the top left. The Stills' Sierra poached the shot from range to get the win, securing the series in her favor at 2-0. Sierra delivered a devastating break in game 3, sending the 7 straight to the bottom left to sweep Sweetheart 3-0. Sierra's convincing series win puts her in round two.
Nissan Hall, Infinity: Shelley v. Stripes. The red cue gets another turn, playing 10-ball between these veterans. Infinity's Shelley had three chances to win in game 1, but she wasted all of them, allowing Freedom's Stripes to take the close battle with a tap-in on the 10 at the top left. Stripes leads the series 1-0. The Torpedoes' Shelley didn't imprint herself on game 2 in any meaningful way, her set-up on the 9 leading the Cascades' Stripes to complete the win after making five balls over the last two turns. Stripes sealed the series at 2-0 with this win. Shelley had some better command in game 3, but not enough on the 9, as Stripes was able to knock down the last two balls to win the game and sweep the series 3-0. Stripes moves on to the second round.
Home Depot Forum, Web City: Avril v. Nightfur. A sophomore meets a captain in 12-ball with the blue cue. Web City's Avril had a pair on the break and good positioning after that, but Royal's Nightfur played defense until Avril gave away a wild-card ball. Nightfur made it work with a three-ball run-out on the next turn for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Crowns' Nightfur was a little too cautious with positioning in game 2, as she could have gone on a run but missed at the top side just in time for the Spiders' Avril to convert her last ball behind Nightfur's defense. Avril's timely finish tied the series at 1. Nightfur elected to go with solids on a fairly even table in game 3, and it looked smart when Avril surrendered a wild-card ball and scratched on consecutive turns. Nightfur was never able to capitalize, leaving two balls up as Avril held on for the win and 2-1 series win. Avril is on her way to round two.
Microsoft Center, Del Sur: Mams v. Kirstin. A new Monarch meets one that's moved on to a new team for today's finale in 13-ball with the blue cue. A fairly even game 1 went in favor of Everton's Kirstin as she erupted for a four-ball run and nearly kicked the 8 into the top left. Southern's Mams had one chance to save it, but she missed her last ball, and Kirstin tapped the 8 in for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Eagles' Kirstin again managed to pull herself ahead in game 2, and the Monarchs' Mams never found her positioning. Kirstin easily took the win and clinched the series at 2-0. Game 3 didn't see much of a challenge for either player, as Kirstin narrowly edged Mams in a standard contest. Kirstin swept the series 3-0 and will play in the second round.
That's it for today's games, with more coming tomorrow as we get ready to go on six-day weeks. This is being done to catch up after the four-month delay.

Tournament 2019 - Round 1 Day 24
The latest set of action is ready to go, beginning with...
Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Watermelon v. Briana. The silver cue starts off the day in 12-ball. After a nearly four-month hiatus from May 8 to August 30, the league is ready to resume Tournament play. It looked like a four-month layoff in game 1, which saw Pearl's Watermelon slowly chip her way to the win over Queens' Briana for the 1-0 series lead. The Surfers' Watermelon had a more assertive game 2, beginning with a four-ball run. The Flames' Briana made a push-back but missed contact on her last ball, and Watermelon won from ball-in-hand to clinch the series at 2-0. Watermelon did her part in game 3, making another ball on the break. Briana got down to her last ball but couldn't find any positioning, and Watermelon banked the 2 to the bottom right for the 3-0 series sweep. Watermelon is set to play in the second round.
Ford Forum, Pronger: Spot v. Chelsea. A young star and a veteran clash in 10-ball with the silver cue. Pronger's Spot made a ball on the break, but it was a three-ball run-out at the end that set him apart from Eastside's Chelsea, who only managed a little offense. Spot leads the series 1-0. The Sharks' Chelsea played with honor in game 2, dominating the possession after the Tridents' Spot had a scratch on the 6. Chelsea could have made a combination for the win, but instead played clean, and Spot would double-pot the 8 and 10 to the top right to claim the win, securing the series at 2-0. Chelsea would get a little redemption in game 3, converting a tough angle 4-10 combination to the top right to avoid the sweep as Spot settled for a 2-1 series win to take him to the second round where he'll face the Midland Predators' Americus.
BMW RockDome, Westside: Chimpy v. Neopolitan. An enigmatic veteran takes on a co-captain in 8-ball with the blue cue. Westside's Chimpy attacked well early and late, weathering a three-ball run from Pearl's Neopolitan before answering with a four-ball run-out, capped by banking the 8 to the top side for the game 1 win and 1-0 series lead. Game 2 was more of a chippy battle between the players, which then erupted into late offense. The Surfers' Neopolitan pushed a three-ball run but missed the 8, only for the Rockers' Chimpy to rally back on a four-ball run-out for the win. Chimpy took the series at 2-0. Chimpy had a little faster play in game 3 than Neopolitan could muster, although neither player was able to convert a deep run. Chimpy swept the series 3-0 and advances to the second round.
BMW RockDome, Westside: Chimpy v. Wario. The host completes a doubleheader, this time in Rotation with the red cue. Game 1 saw Westside's Chimpy emerge with the lead early in game 1, but Southridge's Wario pulled ahead on a three-ball run and won 8-7 by sinking the 15 at the bottom right. Wario leads 1-0 in the series. The Defenders' Wario enjoyed a three-ball run from the start of game 2, a lead that he would never let go as the Rockers' Chimpy pushed but fell short. Wario's 8-6 win sealed the series at 2-0. Wario had an easy go in game 3, as Chimpy never really challenged him in the 8-3 result. Wario swept the series 3-0, although Chimpy revealed a blister as an excuse for his drop in quality in his second straight series.
UPS Hall, Maplewood: Whiskers v. Fluffina. Two players once traded for each other meet in 9-ball with the blue cue. Maplewood's Whiskers looked great with a pair of three-ball runs and then the final shot on the 9 over three turns for the 1-0 series lead over Infinity's Fluffina. The Torpedoes' Fluffina took some time to get going in game 2 after the Lumberjacks' Whiskers made three balls on the break. Fluffina then ignited a six-ball run-out, the massive play giving her a win to tie the series at 1. Fluffina was the better player early in game 3, but Whiskers carved out a five-ball run-out to take the win and the 2-1 series win. Whiskers punched her ticket to the second round.
Gillette Center, Swordpoint: Dreamy v. Shelley. The silver cue returns to action now for a series of 13-ball. Swordpoint's Dreamy worked a three-ball run from the break after making one of each. Infinity's Shelley tried to play for positioning, but Dreamy quickly finished the game victorious to take a 1-0 series lead. The Torpedoes' Shelley had to use a little defense in game 2, blocking the top left to stall the Blades' Dreamy. The play worked, as Shelley made three balls over the final two turns to take the win, evening the series at 1. Shelley had a big four-ball run early in game 3, and enough tactical skill to sink the 8 in the top right through Dreamy's defense for the win. Shelley came back to take the series 2-1, putting her in round two.
Coca-Cola Field Exhibition Center, Boston: Patches v. Salmo. A superstar captain meets a journeyman in 9-ball with the silver cue. Boston's Patches began with a four-ball run after making a pair on the break, but Southern's Salmo shut the door on a three-ball run-out, winning game 1 and giving himself the 1-0 series lead. Game 2 saw a more back-and-forth cadence to the attacks, with the Swifts' Patches getting the short end of the deal. The Monarchs' Salmo came up clutch with a pair of late shots to seal the win and the 2-0 series. Patches found herself struggling in game 3 and then she suffered a late scratch, allowing Salmo to complete the 3-0 series sweep with a pair of shots from ball-in-hand. Salmo will travel to play the Capital City Sharpshooters' Sprinkles in the second round.
Ford Forum, Pronger: Zach v. Slinks. Two surprisingly strong veterans are set to meet in 7-ball with the red cue. Pronger's Zach had an excellent start with five balls over two turns in game 1, but he left the door open and Westside's Slinks converted the final pair to win and take a 1-0 lead in the series after game 1. Game 2 was even faster, with the Rockers' Slinks poking a four-ball run from the break only for the Tridents' Zach to scoop up the win on a three-ball run-out. This tied the series at 1. Zach assembled a four-ball run in game 3 with the hopes of adding to it on a separate turn, but his offense ran dry. Slinks made the last three balls over two turns to get the win, clinching the series at 2-1 as she heads to the second round.
Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Watermelon v. Peach. Powerful foes keep the red cue in action for their 9-ball bout. The 8 was decisive in game 1, as North Modernistic's Peach rattled it out of the bottom right and Pearl's Watermelon knocked it down before taking the 9. Watermelon owns a 1-0 series lead after the strong finish. The Nighthawks' Peach had her chances in a close game 2 battle, but she left the 9 short at the bottom right, and a tap-in secured the win for the Surfers' Watermelon, who secured the series at 2-0. Peach mucked up a lot of the shots early in game 3, but Watermelon eventually broke loose to win with a four-ball run-out. Watermelon swept the series 3-0 and heads to round two.
HP Field Events Center, Midland: Shawn v. Chelsea. The red cue gets another turn, this time playing 13-ball. Midland's Shawn made a pair on the break and then played patiently, allowing Eastside's Chelsea to get close. Shawn then struck on a three-ball run-out for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Sharks' Chelsea did well in game 2 to pot balls in the side pockets, but her positioning play on the same turn resulted in the 8 going down early, gifting the win to the Predators' Shawn. This also gave the series to Shawn at 2-0. Shawn went empty on the game 3 break and Chelsea quickly made an impact on offense. Shawn tried to strategically scratch, but Chelsea was a little quicker in earning the win. Shawn took the 2-1 series win to get to the second round.
Verizon Field Events Center, Pacific: Twinkie I v. Chimpy. The silver cue gets a turn at 13-ball in this series. Pacific's Twinkie I had a chance to take game 1 on her own merits before a flubbed shot, but Westside's Chimpy gave it away anyway by scratching as he made the 8. Twinkie I holds a 1-0 series lead. The Volcanoes' Twinkie I asserted herself with a four-ball run to start in game 2, and while the Rockers' Chimpy got some back, Twinkie I put the 8 in the top right for a decisive win that seals the series at 2-0. Chimpy did much better in game 3, getting the side pockets first and then patiently playing on the 8 until he put it in the top left. Twinkie I accepted a 2-1 series win as her pass to the second round.
Mercedes-Benz Forum, Harrison: Rudolph v. Oreo. A sophomore meets a veteran in 12-ball with the blue cue. Terrace City's Oreo showed less efficiency in positioning in game 1, while Harrison's Rudolph adapted to his scratch and eventually took the win. Rudolph leads the series 1-0. Both players employed a more defensive strategy in game 2 as they searched for openings. The Specters' Rudolph made his own luck on his three-ball run-out, carving the 6 to the bottom right to set up the winning shot that secured him the series at 2-0 over the Knights' Oreo. Rudolph got off to a great start with five balls down after two turns. Oreo held on as long as she could with defense, but Rudolph claimed the 5 at the top left, winning game 3 and sweeping the series 3-0 to get to the second round.
Cisco Arena, Tysini: Charli v. Bryant. The silver cue steps back into action in 8-ball. The players exchanged four-ball runs early in game 1 before tightening up. Tysini's Charli put in a three-ball run, but Maplewood's Bryant sandwiched that with a pair of two-ball runs to get the win for a 1-0 series lead. The Hummingbirds' Charli wouldn't bend in game 2, taking the early lead and staving off a comeback from the Lumberjacks' Bryant to earn a win of her own which tied the series at 1. Charli had her chances to win in game 3, getting a bit loose on offense. None was worse than her hitting two kicks perfectly to get on the 8 only to miss the winning shot twice, allowing Bryant to convert a pair for the win. Bryant took the close series 2-1 and will play in the second round.
Nestle's Warriors Hall, Central: Wings v. Sydney C. The last series of the day sees a veteran take on a rookie in 9-ball with the blue cue. Modernistic's Sydney C. had some troubles with scratching in game 1, her last one coming as she potted the 9. This gifted the win and 1-0 series lead to Central's Wings, who had played well to that point. The Warriors' Wings did a much better job on offense in game 2, starting with a five-ball run. He then deflected a shot off the 7 after the Union's Sydney C. missed her chance for a counterattack. Wings' deflection potted the 9 to the bottom right to seal the series at 2-0. Game 3 went pretty quickly at the end, with a four-ball run by Wings, a three-ball run in response from Sydney C., and then Wings potting the last two balls for the win and the 3-0 series sweep. Wings is off to the second round.
Now that Tournament is back in action, the daily schedule going forward is likely to see more instances of pool coming before cricket while the two overlap. This is expected to last into October.

United Cup - Semifinals & Finals
The United Cup is scheduled to wrap up today, beginning with the two-leg Semifinals in the morning before the Finals in the afternoon. We will not have a third-place series this year, a chance from last year's inaugural version of the competition.
BMW RockDome, Westside: The Rockers have elected to play first in both the first and second legs, sitting Midnight while the visiting Spurs have Mitchell out for leg one. Spice couldn't get much pace going with 233 for Victoria to lead things off. Misty wasn't great either with 308 for Westside, giving them only a narrow lead to start the game. Yekaterina carved out another brilliant turn with 625 for the Spurs, putting them ahead on the second attack. Slinks tried to keep up but failed at 391 for the Rockers, who are showing a rare moment of weakness. Sage capitalized on the hosts' vulnerability, smashing another 670 as Victoria is gearing up for the upset. Goatee melted at 285 for Westside, keeping them behind heading into the final turn. Strawberry weakened the Spurs with 146 on the final turn to give them a score of 1674. Chimpy did big work with 570 to bring the Rockers closer with 1554 in the loss. Victoria's lead is only 120 as they head home against the top ranked team.
Coca-Cola Field, Boston: The Doubles Derby, United Cup edition, is on now, with the Swifts sitting Sweetheart while the Pilots bench Max. Valencia got her offense back on track with 411 for Golden to begin the contest. Patches stomped Boston to the lead with 460, using some heavy swings to earn the advantage. Dusty kept the pace steady with 454 for the Pilots, enough to continue to challenge their hosts. Puff II churned out 550 for the Swifts in response, restoring their lead at the midway mark. Strut fired back with 480 as Golden proves unwilling to back off. Gradley slipped off the pace with 285 for Boston, making things much closer heading into the final turn. Sparkles wasted the chance to put the Pilots far ahead, her 100 leaving them at 1445 overall. Ice Cream made the push with 258 for the Swifts, giving them a narrow lead at 1553 after the first leg. Boston travels up by only 108 points as both Semifinals series have been close.
Sprint Pitch, Victoria: The Spurs' Cinderella run continues as they keep Mitchell on the bench versus the Rockers, who have sat their captain Misty as they seek to win by 120 points or more. Slinks served up 484 for Westside on the initial turn of leg two, a good start from the veteran. Spice returned to form at home with 490 for Victoria, keeping them ahead in the series as well as the game. Goatee matched that damage with a pacey 490 for the Rockers on the second attack. Yekaterina faltered at the worst moment with 260 for the Spurs, putting them behind halfway through the second leg. Chimpy tacked on another 490 for Westside to keep them ahead for now. Sage fell at 120 for Victoria, the pressure against the hosts too strong for them to handle. Midnight left the door open with only 112 for the Rockers, leaving their final scores at 1576 in the game and 3130 in the series. Strawberry couldn't make the comeback with 225 for the Spurs, leaving them to lose with 1095 in the game and 2769 overall. Westside escapes a risky series and will host leg one of the United Cup Finals.
Amazon Field, Golden: The Southeastern rivals clash again, with the Swifts sitting Gradley while the Pilots look to flip a 108-point deficit with Sparkles on the sidelines. Patches couldn't get the pace she wanted with 313 for Boston. Valencia got some of the series deficit back with 388 for Golden, setting them ahead for now. Puff II pulled back with 400 for the Swifts to restore their lead for now. Dusty lashed 550 for the Pilots in response, covering the series deficit with the effort. Sweetheart couldn't keep up with 255 for Boston, who are now behind by every measure. Strut weakened the Golden lead with a pathetic 50 on his turn, leaving them exposed with a player each to go. Ice Cream's 384 for the Swifts gave them a total of 1352 in the game and 2905 in the series. Max fell short with 354, the Pilots exiting with totals of 1342 and 2787. Boston escapes with the series win, and that sets up their 1v2 seed battle with the Westside Rockers in the Finals.
BMW RockDome, Westside: After a break, the United Cup Finals begin with leg one, which sees the Swifts sit Ice Cream while the top-seeded Rockers bench Midnight in the home leg. Patches slapped 564 for Boston at a high pace to set the tone for the first leg. Misty didn't match it with 357 for Westside, giving them a slight deficit initially. Puff II added on with 441 as the Swifts make a small extension to their lead. Slinks dropped off at 292 as the deficit gets worse for the Rockers. Gradley popped another 579 for Boston, keeping their offense strong as they dominate the game. Goatee was stalled at 214 for Westside, the hosts struggling with the fatigue of the competition's schedule. Sweetheart posted 419 for the Swifts at the end to cap their offense at 2003 in the first leg. Chimpy's 341 didn't help the Rockers much, their game ending in a loss at 1204. Boston heads home leading the series by a hefty margin of 799.
Coca-Cola Field, Boston: The Swifts elect to sit Puff II while the Rockers boldly rest Slinks for the first time in the United Cup in this second leg of the Finals. Misty tried to play with pace, but a high swing stopped her at 334 for Westside on the opening turn. Patches lost part of the Boston lead with only 164 on their first turn of the game. Goatee made a push with 484 for the Rockers, pressuring the hosts to repel the attack. Gradley got most of it back with 441 for the Swifts, who remain ahead in the series at the halfway mark. Chimpy's 327 wasn't enough to truly be helpful for Westside as they remain behind. Sweetheart pushed Boston a little farther ahead on the series scale with 425, the host crowd rising to a fervor as their team is on the brink of the title. Midnight's 225 for the Rockers took them out of contention for the title, ending with 1370 in the game and 2574 in the series. Ice Cream slammed the door with 514 for the Swifts to seal their United Cup title in a Finals sweep with 1544 in the game and 3547 in the series.
The Swifts were led by their captain Patches in their pursuit of a fifth major UPCL trophy. Patches was awarded the Matthew Hayden Trophy as the competition's MVP, adding their first United Cup win to a trophy case already in possession of two Hutton Cups, a City Cup, and a Governor's Cup.
Regular season cricket is scheduled to resume on Monday for the final week of the season. Tournament 2019 returns tomorrow morning, resuming the first round that was put on hiatus in early May.

United Cup - Quarterfinals
We're ready to go with the Quarterfinals in the United Cup. Both legs of each series will be played today, beginning with...
BMW RockDome, Westside: The Rockers have Goatee resting in this fixture, while the Torpedoes put Mr. Snowman on the bench for the first leg. Smudge had pace at first but fell with 258 for Infinity to kick things off. Misty was a little better with 373 for Westside in a slow-moving attack at the start. Fluffina smacked 514 for the Torpedoes to raise the stakes on offense a bit higher. Slinks followed suit, plastering 650 for the Rockers at the halfway mark to keep them ahead. Shelley kept Infinity in the fight with 494 this time, making things a little uncomfortable for the hosts. Chimpy didn't match it, but his 470 was enough to maintain a lead for Westside. Hughbert was stopped at 267 for the Torpedoes, giving them a score of 1533. Midnight rallied 425 for the Rockers at the end, giving them a win at 1918. Westside will travel with a 385-lead as they prepare for the second leg.
McDonald's Pitch at Pirates Park, Atlantic: A cross-division match sees the host Pirates sit Isabella while Strawberry takes a seat for the Spurs. Spice charged with 519 for Victoria on a pacey and bold opening attack. Delila kept it close with 461 for Atlantic on the first turn, but they are slightly behind. Yekaterina pummeled 529 at an excellent pace for the Spurs to keep them ahead. Steven lost ground with 388 for the Pirates, unable to keep up with the visitors' aggressive play. Sage faltered with 250 for Victoria, leaving the door open for the hosts to respond. Klaus made a move with 451 for Atlantic, gaining some ground ahead of the final turn. Mitchell collected 441 for the Spurs to give them a total of 1739. Jason N. couldn't meet the challenge with 400 individually to give the Pirates a final of 1700. Victoria heads home with a narrow 39-point lead as they look to pull off another upset.
Amazon Field, Golden: The Pilots, fresh off a third round scare, sit Dusty versus a lower-division Knights side resting Melissa for this match. Kiwi had an awful start with only 112 for Terrace City this time out. Valencia was better with 390 to start Golden off in decent form. Jennifer barely covered it with 300 for the Knights on their second attack. Strut slugged 1102 for the Pilots, a breakout moment that could have a ripple effect throughout the series. Oreo's 355 for Terrace City was a solid effort but not enough to make much of an impact on the game. Max matched it with 355 for Golden, keeping the hosts far ahead. Quincy's 128 left the Knights low at 895 in their first loss of the competition. Sparkles was hardly better with 160, giving the Pilots a winning total of 2007. Golden will travel with a hefty lead of 1112 points.
Coca-Cola Field, Boston: The first legs wrap up here, with the Blades sitting Stealth while Sweetheart takes a seat for the Swifts. Snowball walloped 855 for Swordpoint on a surprising first turn of the game. Patches just took out her wicket on a backhand flick, ending at 883 to keep pace in an electric start to the game. Dreamy took a major step back with only 160 for the Blades on the second attack. Puff II had a rather unimpressive 195 for the Swifts as well, keeping the game close at the midway point. Bandit leveled off with 345 for Swordpoint to provide the hosts a small challenge. Gradley missed a swing and backhanded the ball into his wicket to end at 330 as Boston has been unable to really control the game. Sugar fell at 310 as the Blades close the game at 1670. Ice Cream stepped up with 422 to ensure a win for the Swifts at 1830. Boston's edge is 160 points ahead of the second leg.
Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The most lopsided leg one goes first for leg two, with the Knights sitting Kiwi while the Pilots bench Sparkles. Valencia was beat on a swing and miss at 193 for Golden, leaving them in a bit of danger to start the second leg. Jennifer started the comeback effort with 506 for Terrace City. Dusty fought back with 334 for the Pilots to cover the game deficit by a thin margin. Oreo made another gain with 429 for the Knights on the second attack. Strut didn't have a breakout attack this time, hitting 295 as Golden is content to coast toward the finish. Quincy's 429 got Terrace City a little closer in the series, but they'll need a big finish to flip the result. Max tapped 295 more for the Pilots, who lost this game at 1117 but moved up to 3124 in the combined series score. Melissa couldn't provide the challenge, her 258 sealing the Knights' exit at 1622 in the game win but 2517 in the series loss on points. Golden is the first team in the Semifinals.
Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: The Torpedoes are not in a good position, sitting Hughbert while the Rockers cycle their captain Misty out for this road leg. Slinks had a simple 357 for Westside, about doubling their series advantage with the effort. Smudge didn't match it with 334 for Infinity, keeping things steady through the first turn. Goatee stayed in the same groove with 361 for the Rockers, chipping their way forward at this stage. Fluffina broke through with 550 for the Torpedoes, making a series of things as the overall deficit shrunk greatly. Chimpy fired back with 405 for Westside, not covering all of the recent damage. Shelley pushed forward with 555 as Infinity makes an honest effort to flip the series with a player each to go. Midnight exited at 384 for the Rockers, their game total at 1507 with a series total of 3425. Mr. Snowman fell short at 285 for the Torpedoes, who won the game at 1724 but lost the series at 3257. Westside's narrow escape could be a warning of things to come in the Semifinals.
Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: The Blades rest Dreamy for a critical second leg match, trailing the Puff II-less Swifts by just 160 after the first leg. Patches shoved 490 for Boston at the start, a solid performance from the captain. Snowball did well to keep pace with 456 for Swordpoint, who seem set to lie in wait for the visitors to show weakness. Gradley kept the pace up with 445 for the Swifts, who are sustaining a strong offense. Bandit tried to make the Blades a little of their own luck, but exited at 459, only a small gain at this stage. Sweetheart took a step back with 289 for Boston, leaving their game and series leads exposed. Stealth failed to capitalize on the opportunity with only 245 for Swordpoint, who will have one more chance to make a move. Ice Cream hauled in 388 for the Swifts to put them at a final score of 1612 for the game and 3442 in the series. Sugar's 376 for the Blades was not enough to save them from losses at 1536 in the game and 3206 in the series. Boston is set to take on Golden in the Semifinals, colloquially known as the Doubles Derby.
Sprint Pitch, Victoria: The final quarterfinal leg is here, with the Spurs up by only 39 points as they sit Sage while Steven is out for the Pirates. Delila started hot with 487 for Atlantic on a pacey first turn for the visitors. Spice answered with 447 for Victoria, putting them down by a single point in the series in what could be a tight finish. Isabella had a bit of a slip at 350 for the Pirates, a dangerous time to fall off the pace. Yekaterina surged forward with 644 for the Spurs, pulling them ahead again at the halfway point. Klaus couldn't keep Atlantic on track, his measly 96 putting the visitors in significant danger. Strawberry tacked on 414 for Victoria, boosting their lead late in the game. Jason N. picked up 410 for the Pirates, but their exit was confirmed with scores of 1343 in the game and 3043 in the series. Mitchell added 361 for good measure, giving the Spurs 1866 for the game and 3605 overall. Victoria's Cinderella run continues onto the final day of United Cup play when they face Westside.
That's it for today's games. Tomorrow, the Semifinals, Finals, and maybe a third-place match are set to go.

United Cup - Round 3 Leg 2
The lower-division teams will have their chances at home against their Premier foes to close out the third round today. First up...
AT&T Oceanside Stadium, Oceanside: The Waves face the largest deficit of any team trailing today, and they'll sit Josie, while the Torpedoes have Shelley reserved this time. Smudge built up a good advantage for this leg with 671 for Infinity to lead things off. Snuggle did alright with 373 for Oceanside, but that won't help the series deficit at all. Fluffina fired back with 584 as the Torpedoes continue to dominate. Celestia made a gain with 790 for the Waves, trying to at least keep this game close. Mr. Snowman had a simple 256 for Infinity this time around. Dewey did a little better with 289 but Oceanside still can't pull ahead. Hughbert added 461 for the Torpedoes to put their final score at 1972 for the game and 4353 in the series. Jason V. fell at 208 as the Waves took another loss with 1668 in the game and 2778 overall. Infinity's sweep propels them to the Quarterfinals.
Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: The Surfers did themselves no favors yesterday and will sit Bright at home, while Sugar is out as the Blades look to lock up the series. Snowball flipped 520 for Swordpoint to kick off this game in good form. Watermelon used pace on her turn but only produced 330 for Pearl, starting them behind in the game. Dreamy countered with 436 to keep the Blades in control on the second attack. Boots was stopped at 112 as the Surfers' long-shot effort at a comeback looks dead on arrival. Bandit didn't look great with 247 but Swordpoint is in virtually no danger. Neopolitan made a little progress with 305 for Pearl. Stealth kept it simple with 233 for the Blades, icing their offense at 1436 in the game and 3311 in the series. Beth buckled at 130 for the Surfers, giving them only 877 in the game and 1615 overall. Swordpoint cruises off to the Quarterfinals after a dominant series.
Starbucks Cup, Archtown: It's a long-shot, but the Arrows will sit Dusky as they host the Rockers, who look to protect the lead with Chimpy sitting out on the road. Misty posted a solid 396 for Westside to lead off the game. Sally kept it close in the game with 361 for Archtown on their opening turn. Slinks popped off with 754 for the Rockers to really boost their lead on the second attack. Sleepy B. collected 480 for the Arrows, but it looks like their comeback won't coalesce. Goatee modestly added 327 for Westside, actually losing a portion of their lead. Hoppy only managed 180 for Archtown this time, wasting the chance to catch up. Midnight played well with 441 for the Rockers at the end, icing their game at 1918 to give them 3905 overall. A. Charlton melted at 300 for the Arrows to give them 1321 for the game and 2428 in the series loss, which sends Westside to the Quarterfinals versus Infinity.
Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The Knights, one of two lower-division teams to win leg one, will sit Quincy when they host the Sharpshooters, who go without Missy in a bold choice. Chris led off with 480 for Capital City, unable to cover the series deficit from the start. Kiwi slipped at 176 for Terrace City, putting them behind early in the game. Sprinkles butchered her turn with only 32 for the Sharpshooters, wasting a chance to make progress. Jennifer got the Knights on track with 429, pulling them slightly ahead at the halfway point. Lorde poked 384 for Capital City this time, still failing to advance their cause on a series level. Oreo added to the Terrace City lead with a solid 460 to keep them ahead. Pauline failed to force a response for the game, her 162 for the Sharpshooters sticking them at 1058 in the game and 2068 in the series, both good for losses. Melissa tacked on 361 to assure the Knights of the win at 1426 in the game and 3209 in the series. Terrace City rides the sweep to the Quarterfinals, the first non-Premier team to do so.
IBM Nighthawks Nest, North Modernistic: The Nighthawks remain without Cheddar with their United Cup run on the line versus a Swifts team sitting Ice Cream. Patches crushed 1003 for Boston to set the tone in magnificent form on the road. Peach hit 300 for North Modernistic, a decent turn but not a helpful one. Puff II went with 434 for the Swifts on the second attack to keep their lead strong. Gal pulled back with 482 for the Nighthawks, who remain noticeably behind. Gradley kept Boston on pace with 405, another solid addition to their lead. Lionel didn't have a breakout effort, his 425 merely keeping with the latest damage as North Modernistic looks poised to exit the competition. Sweetheart used pace on her second try after a false start, scoring 411 to give the Swifts 2253 in the game and 3884 in the series, which looks to be going for a sweep. Luigi was strong with 514 but the Nighthawks fell with totals of 1721 and 2744 in the game and series, respectively. Boston is off to face Swordpoint in the Quarterfinals.
Sprint Pitch, Victoria: The Spurs will sit Sage as planned in their home leg, trying to overcome a reasonable deficit versus an Eagles team choosing to sit Kirstin again. Goldy took a nasty tumble with only 32 for Everton, clipping the boundary badly. Spice covered the series deficit with 514 for Victoria, bringing the crowd to an early frenzy. Bear covered that damage with 579 for the Eagles, keeping them ahead in the series for now. Yekaterina kept good pace with 518 for the Spurs, with the series prone to go either way at this midway mark. Cleo slipped at 245 for Everton, the Premier side now realizing just how dangerous their position is. Strawberry didn't take advantage with 250 for Victoria, keeping things close with a player each to go. Puff III failed again at 100 for the Eagles, who end the game at a loss with 956 while closing the series at 2728. Mitchell's 335 was enough for the game win at 1617 and the series win as well at 2950. Victoria is the first Select team to earn a spot in the Quarterfinals.
Toyota Pitch, Freedom: With only a small deficit ahead, the Cascades sit Nikolai while the Pirates go without Klaus in what's sure to be a nail-biter Eastern Hills rivalry. Delila launched 883 for Atlantic to really put the hosts under pressure. Jasmine didn't have the same results with 395 for Freedom, causing the series deficit to grow. Isabella made a massive mistake with a sky ball for the Pirates, her 48 damaging the visitors' lead significantly. Roxy made progress with 476 for the Cascades, putting them within striking distance for the series. Steven kept Atlantic ahead with 433 in a strong turn from the veteran. Stripes tried to play two balls at once and fell at 227 for Freedom, making the deficit grow late in the game. Jason N. carved out 509 more for the Pirates to cap their offense at 1873 in the game and 3246 in the series. Stinky fell at 32 after failing to clear a ball on his backhand, ending their United Cup run with 1130 in the loss and 2260 in the series loss. Atlantic is set to take on Victoria in the Quarterfinals.
UPS Ground, Maplewood: Ahead by only 43 points, the Lumberjacks sit their sophomore Summer, while the veteran Strut takes a seat for the Pilots. Valencia scooped up 678 for Golden to begin the game in great form. Whiskers only got about half of it back with 376 for Maplewood, who are now behind in the series. Dusty shrugged off 235 for the Pilots, potentially weakening their lead a bit. Diddley didn't apply pressure, ending at 195 after an odd bounce took out his wicket for the Lumberjacks. Max zipped 661 for Golden against his first career team, keeping the visitors in charge. Bryant's 320 didn't help Maplewood at all, putting them fairly far back with a player each to go. Sparkles added 376 for the Pilots at the end, producing final scores of 1950 in the game and 3546 in the series. Gabe's 461 on a pacey counterattack came up short with the Lumberjacks losing the game at 1352 and the series at 2991. Golden takes the split series on points and earns a date with the Terrace City Knights in the Quarterfinals.
That's all we've got for United Cup Round 3. Tomorrow, the entire Quarterfinals round will be played, with leg one in the morning and leg two in the afternoon.
AT&T Oceanside Stadium, Oceanside: The Waves face the largest deficit of any team trailing today, and they'll sit Josie, while the Torpedoes have Shelley reserved this time.
