Select Cricket 2019 - Week 18

Select is back in action with Week 18, beginning with a rivalry in...

Mercedes-Benz Field, Harrison: The Halloween Derby's third installment of the year sees the Specters sitting Rudolph while the Spiders bench Chicky Phil. Waluigi did alright with 388 for Web City at the start, far from a tone-setting effort. Sydney S. responded with 416 for Harrison to give them the early edge. Ted muscled up for 680 for the Spiders on the second attack, giving them a stronger lead. Twinkie II didn't keep up for the Specters, her 388 causing them to lag behind at the midway mark. Jack rallied with 556 more for Web City, as the visitors appear set on attempting to pull off the upset. Blizzard didn't challenge the deficit with 209 for Harrison. Avril tacked on 544 more for the Spiders to give them a total of 2168. Lexi got 564 back for the Specters, but it was too late to save them from losing at 1577. Web City gets up to 17-21, while Harrison is now 26-13.

UPS Ground, Maplewood: The Shippers Derby is next, with the Lumberjacks resting their captain Diddley to close a five-game home stand, while the Sharks sit Chelsea in the third of five straight road games. Graham found a groove with 784 for Eastside to lead things off, pressuring the hosts immediately. Whiskers tried to match the intensity, coming close with 605 for Maplewood to start their game. Taylor M. left the door open with only 152 for the Sharks on her turn. Summer doubled the Lumberjacks offense with 611, propelling them ahead halfway through the game. Gizmo pushed back with 310 for Eastside, just barely covering the deficit. Bryant countered that well with 564 for Maplewood, maintaining balance in their strong attacks. Cubby couldn't match the mark with 357 for the Sharks, their losing total resting at 1603. Gabe poked 445 for the Lumberjacks to secure their win at 2225. Maplewood rises to 25-11, while Eastside is 10-23, officially staying in Select next year.

Google Pitch at Union Ground, Modernistic: The Union begin a home doubleheader with Kodiak resting, while the visiting Wolves sit Wild Thing for this contest. Juno faded quickly at 324 for Stonebridge, never really finding a groove for her swings. Ms. Puppy ripped 788 for Modernistic, her high pace and long turn combining for a big lead for the hosts. Cobalt exited at a mediocre 232 for Stonebridge, falling short of covering the deficit. Daisy covered the recent damage with 355 for the Union, keeping them in control. Hershey attempted to push back, but a poorly-aimed swing stalled him at 361 for Stonebridge. Puff I took 326 for Modernistic here, apparently happy to let the hosts coast to the finish. Vladimir fell at just 227 for the Wolves, sticking them with the loss at 1144. Sydney C. matched it with 227 of her own to ice the Union's win at 1696. Modernistic is up to 15-18, in a virtual tie with the 16-19 Stonebridge side.

Google Pitch at Union Ground, Modernistic: Sydney C. will sit out the second game of the Union's doubleheader, while Taylor M. takes a turn on the bench for the Sharks. Graham didn't slack for Eastside, his 503 marking out a strong first attack. Ms. Puppy carved out 665 for Modernistic in response, enough to give the hosts the initial lead. Chelsea's return to the lineup was a flop for the Sharks, as she only managed a measly 72 points. Daisy didn't do much to help the Union, her 112 representing only a small addition to the lead. Gizmo roared back with 655 for Eastside, covering the deficit somewhat shockingly. Puff I took no chances with 750 for Modernistic, restoring their lead and then some heading into the final turn. Cubby dropped at only 209 for the Sharks, giving them a loss at 1439 overall. Kodiak didn't make it pretty, but his 170 sealed the Union's win at 1697. Modernistic rises again to 16-18, while Eastside slumps to 10-24.

Starbucks Cup, Archtown: The Arrows begin a quad with Hoppy on the bench, while the Sharks end a road doubleheader with Cubby out of action. Graham kept up the good work with 1052 for Eastside at the start of this game. Sally fought back with 570 for Archtown, recovering about half of the early deficit. Chelsea just about covered that damage with 547 for the Sharks on the second attack. Sleepy B. stormed back with 753 for the Arrows, cutting deep into the deficit. Taylor M. faltered with only 130 for Eastside in her return to the lineup, leaving their lead exposed. Dusky didn't capitalize very well with 225 for Archtown, making only a small gain ahead of the final players' turns. Gizmo also struggled with 100 for the Sharks, giving them 1829 in total. A. Charlton finished the comeback with 570 for the Arrows, capping the win at 2118. Archtown sneaks by to get to 14-18, while Eastside is 10-25 on the year.

Starbucks Cup, Archtown: The quad rolls on for the Arrows, who sit Dusky while the visiting Union bench Daisy for the first time on the road all season. Ms. Puppy was stunned at just 100 for Modernistic, a quick exit for the usually active captain. Sally powered through scoring 541 for Archtown to stake out a decent initial lead. Puff I fired back with 541 of her own for the Union to cover the deficit. Sleepy B. fought off the danger with 494 for the Arrows, keeping them in the lead at the midway point. Kodiak provided Modernistic with another dangerous attack, his 603 keeping them competitive. Hoppy went with 256 for Archtown, a middling turn that was enough to reclaim the lead by a thinner margin. Sydney C. knocked a solid 425 for the Union to give them 1669 overall. A. Charlton closed the door again with 650 for the Arrows to seal the win at 1941. Archtown rises again to 15-18, while Modernistic drops to 16-19.

Starbucks Cup, Archtown: The Arrows complete the home portion of the quad with Sally taking her turn for rest, while the Meteors play without Dani. Princess shelved 541 for Viewpoint Sound, the strong turn pacing the visitors well early on. Sleepy B. let a ball skip over her bat at 104 for Archtown, setting the hosts in a hole. Hoot exploded for 923 for the Meteors on the second attack, putting them miles ahead. Hoppy was alright with 470 for the Arrows, but they trail significantly in this match. Frosty answered with 569 for Viewpoint Sound, a great turn to protect their lead. Dusky dropped at 108 for Archtown, likely conceding the game while conserving energy for the rest of the week. Nibbles tallied 514 for the Meteors at the end to seal their offense at 2547. A. Charlton wasn't at her best with 353 for the Arrows, leaving them with 1035 in the crushing loss on the eve of a three-game road trip. Viewpoint Sound soars to 15-19 while dumping Archtown to the same mark.

The Intel Pitch, Diamond: The Arrows rest Sleepy B. in the final game of their quad, while the Gems cycle Pedey to the bench for rest given recent diminishing returns. Sally lined 476 for Archtown to give them a more sturdy start in this game. Shadow got a large portion of it back with 438 for Diamond to keep things close. Hoppy failed to block a high bouncing ball and fell with 128 on her second attempt after a false start the first time around. Smokey capitalized on the weakness, striking 503 to give the Gems a critical lead. Dusky's 445 for Archtown was enough to help them cover the deficit for now. Katelynn fired back with 481 for Diamond, preserving their lead with a player each to go. A. Charlton offered one more challenge with 464 for the Arrows, giving them a final score of 1513. Leonardo didn't make it pretty with 276, but the Gems won at 1698 overall. Diamond keeps surging to 17-15, while Archtown is sputtering at 15-20.

Microsoft Pitch, Del Sur: The Meteors begin a doubleheader on the road with Dani on the sidelines again, while the host Monarchs sit their captain Panda. Princess put an instant big turn on the board with 711 for Viewpoint Sound from the lead-off position. Mams didn't let them get away easily, her 655 doing well to keep Southern in the fight. Hoot got almost all of it back with 654 for the Meteors, keeping the intensity of the Coastal rivalry game on high. Pounce tried to keep up but fell short at 456 for the Monarchs, giving the visitors more breathing room for now. Frosty fell off at 193 for Viewpoint Sound, weakening their lead quite suddenly. Dominic took advantage with 445 for Southern to make up most of the deficit. Nibbles churned out a massive 986 for the Meteors to give them 2544. Salmo scattered 314 for the Monarchs at the end, leaving them with 1870 in the loss. Viewpoint Sound is now 16-19, while Southern takes a dive to 7-29.

Volkswagen Stadium, Viewpoint Sound: The Meteors return home and sit Frosty for this game, while the visiting Gems have Katelynn out of action versus her former team. Shadow didn't get much done with 276 for Diamond on the opening turn. Princess kept her offense strong with 644 for Viewpoint Sound, putting them noticeably ahead here. Smokey pushed back with 600 for the Gems, the captain doing his part to cover the deficit. Hoot took a fall at 140 for the Meteors, erasing their lead at the halfway mark as the hosts slip behind. Pedey gathered 400 for Diamond in response, building up their lead nicely. Nibbles got 300 back for Viewpoint Sound, losing a little more ground with a player each to go. Leonardo wrangled 390 for the Gems at the end, giving them a total of 1666. Dani scored 364 for the Meteors at the end, giving them a total of 1448 in the loss. Diamond surges to 18-15, while Viewpoint Sound is 16-20.

Mercedes-Benz Field, Harrison: The Arrows are back for a road doubleheader to end the week, sitting A. Charlton here, while the Specters bench Blizzard. Sally was less than impressive with 274 for Archtown to lead things off. Sydney S. responded with 669 to give Harrison a notable lead. Sleepy B. countered with 425 for the Arrows this time, barely covering the deficit. Twinkie II answered with 504 to keep the Specters comfortably ahead. Hoppy was alright with 355 for Archtown, but that's not enough to challenge the hosts. Lexi kept it positive with 376 for Harrison this time. Dusky went with 384 for the Arrows, leaving them short at 1438 overall. Rudolph supplied 625 more for the Specters at the end to seal their win at 2174. Harrison surges up to 27-13, while Archtown slides again to 15-21.

Volkswagen Stadium, Viewpoint Sound: Hoppy will be out for the Arrows to finish their six-game week, while Hoot sits in this rematch from earlier in the week. Sally showed fatigue with only 96 for Archtown at the start of what could be a low-scoring game. Princess fell at 230 for Viewpoint Sound to produce a small lead. Sleepy B. missed a swing to end her turn at 321 for the Arrows. Frosty reclaimed the lead with 211 for the Meteors, but their lead is minimal. Dusky picked up 370 for Archtown on a decent turn to keep the hosts honest. Nibbles couldn't get it all back, his 310 actually causing Viewpoint Sound to fall behind. A. Charlton's rest did her no favors, as she returned with 128 to leave the Arrows vulnerable with 915 overall. Dani had 144 for the Meteors at the end, which gave them a loss at 895. Archtown was lucky to get the win, which put both teams even at 16-21.

Elite will play tomorrow, likely with a delayed start and with the intention of a quick finish.
