The league's most competitive division returns for Week 20, beginning with...
Verizon Field, Pacific: The Volcanoes start the week with a home doubleheader, sitting Leonette, while the visiting Knights have Melissa out of action. Kiwi returned to form with a big 717 for Terrace City right at the start of the game. Starlight fired back with 814 for Pacific in an electric start to the week's opening game. Jennifer kept the offense high with 576 for the Knights on the second attack. Ms. Kitty was a little stronger with 644 for the Volcanoes, giving the hosts a small boost on their lead. Oreo didn't enjoy as much offense with 361 for Terrace City, putting them in a precarious position. Twinkie I made another small addition with 441 for Pacific, allowing their lead to grow a little more. Quincy's 382 put the Knights at a total of 2036 to force a response from the hosts. Cowzart just did enough with 200 to seal the Volcanoes' win at 2099. Pacific is 20-17 while Terrace City slides to 18-21.
Verizon Field, Pacific: Cowzart will sit out the second part of the doubleheader for the Volcanoes, while the Surfers look to give Neopolitan some rest in a Coastal Derby match. Watermelon paced Pearl very nicely, slugging 1103 on the opening turn to stun the hosts. Starlight carved out about half as much with 514 for Pacific in an otherwise solid performance. Boots unleashed 590 for the Surfers on a strong supporting effort. Ms. Kitty floated 310 for the Volcanoes in response, unable to keep up with their high-scoring visitors. Bright weakened the Pearl lead a bit by posting a poor 128 after a ball hopped over his bat. Twinkie I made a small gain with 353 for Pacific, but they've got a long way to go still. Beth rallied with 547 for the Surfers at the end, closing their offense at 2368. Leonette was powerful with 568 for the Volcanoes but the deficit was too large as they lost with 1745. Pearl continues to solidify their positioning at 24-13, while Pacific dips to 20-18.
Pepsi Prestige Park, Lighton: The Prestige return home for the first time in weeks and sit Nicole versus a Flames team without Mario. Crystal set the tone with 678 for Queens, an aggressive and big first attack. Acorn kept up pretty well for Lighton, raking in 600 on their opening turn. Violetta rattled off 407 for the Flames to add to their lead. Citrus hit 480 for the Prestige this time, her attack enough to virtually eliminate the deficit. Briana got Queens back on track with a hefty turn of 632 to restore their lead to its former glory. Spirit replied with 504 for Lighton, leaving the hosts trailing just slightly heading into the final players' turns. Hannah's 314 put the Flames at 2031 overall, far from being a safe level. Shiny tried to catch up with 376, but the Prestige came up just short at 1960. Queens escapes with the narrow win to get to 28-13 while Lighton sinks to 12-25.
Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Bright is given the game off for the Surfers, while Brownie will take a turn on the bench for the visiting Crowns. Kayla started with 451 for Royal, a solid performance from the star of the team. Watermelon flexed a bit more strength with 584 for Pearl, giving the hosts the initial lead. Jake struggled again with only 193 for the Crowns, barely covering the deficit. Boots covered the damage with an acceptable 357 for the Surfers to maintain their lead. Nightfur played aggressively, wrangling 419 for Royal to keep them in the fight. Neopolitan did better with 470 for Pearl in her return to the lineup. Cassie had only 355 for the Crowns at the end, sticking them with a loss at 1418. Beth tapped 214 for the Surfers at the end, capping their win at 1625. Pearl rises again to 25-13, while Royal is down to 9-31.
Henry Ford Memorial Stadium, Pronger: The Tridents will sit Potter for this game, while the Prestige take to the road again with Citrus getting a breather. Acorn was taken out by a high hit at 326 for Lighton in a mild start to the game. Precious took a few powerful lunging swings as she hammered 796 for Pronger to give the hosts a noticeable lead. Spirit shelved 270 for the Prestige, unable to meet the deficit. Spot didn't do any better with a mediocre 264 for the Tridents on the second attack. Nicole collected 366 for Lighton, pulling them a little closer but still shy of the mark. Zach matched the effort with 379 for Pronger, maintaining their lead heading into the final turn. Shiny's 156 confirmed the loss for the Prestige at 1118. Lize had a modest 270 to finish off the Tridents' win at 1709. Pronger climbs to 24-15 while Lighton drops to 12-26.
AT&T Oceanside Stadium, Oceanside: Celestia will be given regular rest for the Waves against Elite's worst team, as the Crowns sit the struggling Jake. Kayla stumbled at 211 for Royal, having played to a nice pace prior to the bad swing. Snuggle didn't have the best game with only 260 for Oceanside, giving the hosts only a narrow lead. Nightfur cranked 611 for the Crowns on the second attack, raising the stakes dramatically. Josie crushed 867 for the Waves to pull them farther ahead at the halfway mark. Brownie fell at 343 for Royal, enough to lightly cover the deficit this time. Dewey shot back with 398, continuing to help Oceanside grow the lead. Cassie's 180 was too little for the Crowns, who took the loss at 1345. Jason V. had a light 256 for the Waves, completing their win at 1781 in total. Oceanside soars to 29-11 while Royal drops to 9-32.
Pepsi Prestige Park, Lighton: The Prestige are back home for their last game this week, sitting Shiny while the visiting Volcanoes are giving Ms. Kitty her regular rest. Starlight scooped up a fast 705 for Pacific in an excellent start to the game. Acorn scattered 280 for Lighton on their first turn, putting the hosts behind early on. Twinkie I tallied 441 for the Volcanoes on a solid second attack to protect their lead. Citrus matched the effort with 460 for the Prestige, keeping things interesting with the effort. Leonette slapped 644 for Pacific, providing a large extension to their lead. Spirit's 300 caused Lighton to lose a lot of ground, making a comeback unlikely. Cowzart dropped at 180 for the Volcanoes, giving them a final score of 1970 that should stand for a win. Nicole did alright with 388 for the Prestige, but they suffered defeat at 1428. Pacific bounces back to 21-18 while Lighton is only 12-27.
Toyota Pitch, Freedom: The Surfers take to the road with Beth on the bench, while the host Cascades will go without Roxy this time around. Watermelon uncorked another brilliant opening turn with 959 for Pearl, setting them up for success immediately. Jasmine had a good start with 414, but Freedom is trailing early on. Boots didn't have the best of supporting efforts, her 308 destabilizing the Surfers' lead just a bit. Nikolai had some pace, but bowed out with 283 for the Cascades, unable to capitalize on the chance to shrink the deficit. Neopolitan put Pearl back on track with a measured 572 to protect the lead. Stripes had only 274 for Freedom in a weaker turn, as the hosts have struggled to gain any traction. Bright locked it up with 875 for the Surfers at the end, their likely winning total resting at 2714. Stinky crumbled with 192 to leave the Cascades at just 1163. Pearl continues to slug their way to wins at 26-13, while Freedom is now 16-20 after the loss.
Henry Ford Memorial Stadium, Pronger: A pivotal game for fourth place sees the Tradewinds bench Rosemary while Lize takes rest for the Tridents. Tigerette didn't make a huge impact with 313 for Commerce at the start. Precious kept it close with a shaky 287 for Pronger, twice having to make tough defensive plays to keep her turn going. Solaris did better with 509 for the Tradewinds, falling as a ball tipped off his bat handle into the wicket. Spot lost a little more ground with 464 for the Tridents, keeping them within striking distance at the midway point. Taylor S. slapped 480 for Commerce, keeping the offense steady now. Zach matched it with 484 for Pronger, unable to push any higher as the hosts will have one more chance to make a comeback. Niki left the door open, scoring only 276 as the Tradewinds will finish with 1578. Potter made it close with 361 for the Tridents, but they came out ahead at 1596 in the thrilling battle. Pronger gets the win and the 3-1 series tiebreaker should it come to that, rising to 25-15 in fourth place, while Commerce is 26-16.
Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The Surfers look to move up again with Boots taking her turn on the sidelines, while the Knights have Oreo resting at home. Watermelon continued to attack at a high pace with 609 for Pearl on the opening turn. Kiwi had the pace but not the longevity in hitting 329 for Terrace City, trailing her sister's team. Neopolitan almost doubled the Surfers offense, lashing 596 in a potent second attack. Jennifer fired back with 500 for the Knights, attempting to offset a good portion of the damage. Bright took a tumble with 227 for Pearl, potentially weakening their lead at an inopportune time. Quincy made a small gain with 295 for Terrace City, who will need a lot more on the final turn to flip this game. Beth left the door open with only 230 for the Surfers at the end, giving them a total of 1662. Melissa had to make a save on a rolling ball and let it slip by, ending with 451 as the Knights finish with 1575 in the loss. Pearl gladly jumps to 27-13, while Terrace City struggles down to 18-22.
Kraft Crowns Park, Royal: Cassie will sit out the Crowns' home finale, which comes at the start of a doubleheader, while the Tradewinds' road finale will not feature the captain Tigerette. Solaris took his time in the lead-off role, methodically picking his way to 848 for Commerce in an excellent appearance. Kayla was downed at just 176 for Royal in a poor response. Taylor S. wasn't much better with 189 for the Tradewinds, doing enough to simply maintain their lead. Jake got some back with 379 for the Crowns, cutting into the deficit slightly. Niki lifted 438 for Commerce to keep their lead steady. Nightfur seemed motivated to shrink the deficit again, but a high swing stalled her at 395 instead. Rosemary added 350 for the Tradewinds at the end, capping their offense at 1825. Brownie was unable to create a comeback, her 202 sealing the loss for the Crowns at 1152. Commerce went 13-9 on the road and rises to 27-16 with a game to go, while Royal finishes 3-19 at home and drops to 9-33 overall.
Toyota Pitch, Freedom: Stinky will sit out in the Elite Week 20 finale, while the Crowns complete their doubleheader with Kayla resting in the road game. Jake sort of broke out of his slump with 438 for Royal on the opening attack. Jasmine fired off 640 at an incredible pace for Freedom to scratch out the initial advantage. Nightfur doubled the Crowns' offense with her 441 on the second attack. Roxy pushed back with 422 for the Cascades, enough to maintain the lead halfway through the game. Brownie got Royal more involved with 539 on her turn, pressuring the hosts a bit more than before. Nikolai did not keep up with 256 for Freedom, causing them to slip behind with a player each to go. Cassie quickly added 470 for the Crowns at the end of the game to close their scoring at 1888. Stripes let a ball get behind her, sticking her at 176 and giving the Cascades the loss at 1494. Royal sneaks up to 10-33, while Freedom tumbles to 16-21.
Elite is done for Week 20, with plenty left to settle over the last two weeks of the season.
