Club Cricket Challenge: Preliminary Round - Game 2

Another set of games is up now. We begin with...

The Group B game of Humanity+ (H+) hosting Oriental United (OU) at Cisco Tysini Field. Goldy set a sharp tone with 560 for OU right off the bat. Taylor of H+ was ruled to have a valid turn when she hit a ball out of bounds, ending with just 16. Shelley didn't do much better for OU, with a high-arcing ball ending her turn at 75. Chelsea undid some of the damage, producing a solid 328 for H+ as they continue to struggle. Hoot had a pathetic 25 for OU, leaving them highly vulnerable. Sydney gave H+ a very tiny lead with 320, keeping things close halfway through the game. Stealth restored a lead for OU, smacking 576 in a good showing. Alyssa had a reasonable 235 for H+, but they are now behind significantly. Sparkles slugged 885, pulling OU far ahead late in the game. Kayla struggled with 89 for H+, coming on her optional replay after a technical error. Bells poked 223 for OU, giving them their final score of 2344. Zach's 230 ended the H+ attack at 1218, a deep loss.

Up at Google Pitch at Union Ground in Modernistic, Youth Movement (YM) welcomes Brute Force (BF). Rainmane hammered 1034 for BF to start the match with. Puff III had a weak 128 in reponse for YM, allowing them to be way behind. Smokey crushed another 1094 for BF, giving them an unassailable lead. Neopolitan dented the deficit with her 495 for YM, but they have a long way to go. Wings found a way to extend the BF lead, collecting 684 on his turn. Kiwi played solid with her 407 for YM, but they are still in deep trouble. Lionel couldn't get off the starting blocks, taking only 66 for BF. Spirit edged YM closer with her 463. Pedey kept BF in cruise control, tapping a light 160 as they play out the string for this game. Valencia did not play all that well, taking only 232 for YM. Juno struck 399 for BF, giving them a final of 3437 in a fairly big anticipated win. Gradley's 160 left YM short at 1885 in the loss.

Out at HP Field, the Youth Movement/Brute Force Coalition (YMBF) brings in Reality. Starlight had a decent start with 354 for Reality, but it's not the strongest effort. Sierra had 283 for YMBF, but struggled when she stopped a ball just out of reach of her backswing, leaving the team a bit behind early on. Twilight had a middling 265 for Reality, maintaining their lead for now. Citrus couldn't cut the gap, taking only 267 on her turn after a ball went high in the sky, keeping YMBF steady. Twinkie II stumbled with 126 for Reality, leaving them vulnerable. Sprinkles hauled in 376 to give YMBF the lead at the halfway point of the game. Patches got shut down on a deflection, cutting her turn short at 16 points for Reality, who are in dire trouble now. Nikolai carved up 520 for YMBF, extending their lead effectively. Puff II did not do well for Reality, taking just 192 as they are resigning themselves to a loss. Midnight staggered to 69 points for YMBF, allowing them to shake a bit. Spice proved heroic for Reality, lining 787 to force a response as they finished at 1740. Bright crumbled with 122 for YMBF, taking the loss at 1637.

Finally, at Samsung Whitewater Stadium, the Delila Enterprises/Oriental Unite (DEOU) Coalition hosts the Reality/Humanity (RH) Coalition. Bear led off with 379 for RH, a decent starting point. Panda had a weak 64 for DEOU, putting them behind at the start. Stinky knocked out his own wicket, producing a measly 78 for RH in the blundering performance. Mr. Snowman batted 371, getting DEOU relatively close in the game, although it is still early. Gizmo sliced 453 for RH, giving them another chance to lead the game. Shiny clubbed 499 for DEOU, giving them a minuscule lead at the halfway mark. Twinkie I surged forward with 542 for RH, pulling them ahead again as the teams continue to up the ante marginally. Chicky Phil botched his turn with only 6 for DEOU, putting them way behind. Dani added 289 to the RH lead, keeping them in control. Whiskers had just 16 in a rocky showing for DEOU, who are quickly falling away. Gabe got interesting in trying to save his turn, spiking two balls behind him but only getting one to safety as his 182 sent RH to a final of 1923 in what should be a win. Paps had a furious comeback effort halted at 400, and DEOU took the loss on 1356.

Games 3 and 4 should be completed on Wednesday, and potentially Game 5 that day as well. If not, Games 5 and 6 will be done on Thursday. There are currently no intentions to play 12/25, Friday, for the holiday break.
