The Team That Never Changes is certainly going to rethink that claim if the second half of their season goes anything like the first. In all four years of the UPCL franchise existence, the Pronger Tridents have rostered the same four players. Generally, the team is good enough to see the playoffs, but not good enough to win anything. This year, they're just not that good. The Tridents are in a tie for 25th in the league with a record of 12-20 that almost guarantees they'll be spending the postseason watching from afar. There is little to like about the splits, with the Tridents going 7-9 at home in streaky form, and a much more muddled 5-11 on the road that just won't cut it at all. The Tridents play in the East Division, or at least that's where they're located, as they've been a freebie in division games with their 1-10 division record.
The Tridents have the lowest midseason average of any team so far, at 1292 per game. The team sees a mostly balanced but weak attack, led by Strawberry in the lead-off role this year. Strawberry is hitting 340 points per game, good for 26.5% of the offense. Strawberry holds a consistency of about 1.5, making her a stable contributor for the team. The next batter is Hoot, who is at nearly 360 points per game to account for 28% of the offense and at a consistency of about 1.3. Still, his team-leading offense would barely be a blip on the elite teams in the league. Behind Hoot is Precious, who is holding her own with 351 points per game to score 27% of the offense. Precious has a consistency well under 1.4, but she's a fairly average player by all accounts, never doing too much or too little for the Tridents' greater good. The weakest link this year is Paps, who has an average of only 241, which would be bad by any year's standards. Paps is only 18.5% of the team offense, and has a weak 1.2 consistency, which means he can be a bit explosive, but the numbers are wholly bad no matter what. Paps is certainly set for free agency as the Tridents make a change, unless he saves it with his pool season. As a whole, there is no reason to believe the Tridents improve much. They cannot shake negativity, and too many division games will plague their remaining schedule, leaving them short of the playoffs.
