Club Cricket Challenge: Preliminary Round - Game 3

We're back for another game session. The third game for each group is next. Today begins with...

Group C at Google Pitch at Union Ground in Modernistic, with Humanity - (H-) hosting Empyre 1 (E1). Tigerette did not have a good start, taking only 113 for E1 on her turn. Charli rolled a poor 135 for H- on her turn, making it close early on. Graham did well in smacking 472 for E1, giving them a more stable offering. Bryant belted 1196 for H-, putting them far ahead. Stripes got beat when a ball arced high in the air, landing on her wicket and ending her effort at 160 for E1, who now trail severely. Lydia countered with 400 for H-, keeping them firmly in the lead at the halfway mark of the game. Dustin struggled to 90 points for E1, and they don't appear capable of catching up. Debby stumbled with 25 for H-, but they have a large lead. Snowball lacked the proper rhythm for her swings, but cut into the deficit with 412 for E1 on a steady approach to the game. Amber chopped 355 but got tangled up, retaining most of the lead for H-. Noelle proved heroic in slugging 1025 for E1, giving them 2272 total and forcing a response from the opponents. Shawn had a sufficient answer, pounding 919 to give H- 3030 in the win.

At Eastside's HP Field, Group D sees Reality welcome Empyre 2 (E2). Pounce had an average 263 for E2 to begin the game with. Starlight couldn't handle a deflected ball, ending with 173 as Reality starts from behind. Cowzart answered with a big 426 to add to the E2 lead. Twilight blasted 1059 for Reality, giving them a large lead. Cheddar hit only 78, failing to catch E2 up at all. Puff II was not good, but she protected the lead with her 112 for Reality. Brownie did not read the deflection well on her turn, as it rolled low and fast and she swung too late, scoring 288 for E2 to slightly shrink the deficit. Spice slammed 580 to extend the Reality lead, making an early case for MVP status. Jack had a weak 112 for E2, and they appear to be headed for a loss. Dusty swatted 447 for Reality, as they cruise toward victory. Marsell hit a mediocre 240 to give E2 a losing total of 1407. Missy's 429 gave Reality an even 2800 as they nearly doubled up in the win.

Group A features Solid Core 2 (SC2) bringing in the Reality/Humanity Coalition (RH) at Samsung Whitewater Stadium. Bear got off to a terrible start with only 69 for RH. Roxy somehow did worse, hitting a measly 25 for SC2. Gizmo hit 388 to stabilize RH. Boots hammered 778 for SC2, giving them a solid lead. Twinkie I clubbed 635 for RH, keeping them competitive. Leonardo pummeled 1038 for SC2, extending their lead to a large margin. Dani did not inspire with her 93 for RH, who are falling behind. Shaggy put SC2 on cruise control with her 126, keeping the lead safe and not much more. Puff I held her own with 343 for RH, but they still need a big comeback effort late in the game. Crystal had just 45 for SC2, making the lead shake a bit. Sugar hauled in 409 for RH, but the rally fell short at 1937, giving the coalition team a loss. Frosty lifted 505 to give SC2 a total of 2517 in the win.

Finally, Solid Core 1 (SC1) hosts Humanity Neutral (H0) in the Group B game from Cisco Tysini Field. A. Charlton did not give H0 a great start, hitting just 215 to open the game. Acorn carved up 554 for SC1 on a reliable start. Lorde had a meager 49 for H0, as they trail significantly early on. Blizzard pretty much doubled the offense for SC1, tacking on 557 as they get another great beginning. B. Chapman managed 202 for H0, and they are skidding as the game approaches half-completion. Smudge supplied 523 for SC1, keeping them in full control of the game. Yekaterina made an impact with 407 for H0, but the deficit remains large. Sleepy B. kept with SC1 team consistency with her 562, providing a balanced attack for an underrated team. Kelly provided 384 for H0, but the game is out of their reach right now. Oreo launched 532 for SC1, padding the lead a little more. Kirstin hit a pathetic 25, giving H0 a brutal loss at 1282. Misty's 339 for SC1 was good enough to keep herself in the lineup and ice a win at 3067.

Game 4s will be tonight before the pool games are posted.
