Club Cricket Challenge: Preliminary Round - Game 4

We're going at a good pace now, and we're playing the fourth game for each group here tonight. We begin with...

Group D at HP Field in Eastside, where Reality hosts the Youth Movement/Brute Force Coalition (YMBF). Sierra slumped with 113 for YMBF in a poor showing to open the game. Twilight hit a reasonable 337 to give Reality the early lead. Strawberry supplied only 199 for YMBF, keeping them slightly behind. Twinkie II answered with 424, padding the Reality lead decently. Citrus kept YMBF in range, slicing 411 on her solid turn. Patches rocketed 836 for Reality, giving them a huge lead. Twinkie III fumbled her turn with 56 for YMBF, erasing the chance of an easy comeback. Spice produced 329 for Reality, adding on to the lead efficiently. Sprinkles stayed reliable with her 357 for YMBF, at least making the effort to keep them in the game. Dusty slashed 351 for Reality, maintaining their lead. Nikolai rallied with 758, but YMBF ended with 1894 in the loss. Missy poked 313 to give Reality their winning final of 2590.

In Group A's game at Samsung Whitewater Stadium, the day's previous match is reversed with the Reality/Humanity Coalition (RH) welcoming Solid Core 2 (SC2). Roxy bounced back with 619 for SC2, a solid appearance after the last game's disaster showing. Stinky didn't really inspire confidence with 209 for RH. Boots faltered on 112 for SC2, leaving the door a little open. Gizmo matched it with 112 for RH, leaving them just as far behind as before. Leonardo slumped to 24 points for SC2 as the scoring has vanished in this game. Twinkie I continues to carry the RH offense, smashing 854 in this spectacular appearance to propel them into the lead. Shaggy had a pathetic 9 for SC2 as the game is getting away from them. Gabe managed only 122 for RH, returning to a scoring doldrums. Sweetheart had a respectable 313 for SC2, but they are still behind. Puff I had only 225, keeping RH in the lead as the final players come to bat. Frosty pulled in 324, but SC2 suffered the loss with 1401. Sugar's 243 was enough to give RH the win on 1765 total.

Down in Cisco Tysini Field, Oriental United (OU) brings in Humanity Neutral (H0). A. Charlton gave H0 a decent start with her 424. Goldy pulled in 279 for OU on her turn, and they will work from a deficit. B. Chapman faltered with 248 for H0, which may destabilize the team's lead. Stealth ripped 974 to capitalize on the opportunity for OU, giving them a large lead. Yekaterina did poorly with only 28 for H0, leaving them in dire trouble. Sparkles lined 560 in response for OU, boosting their lead at the halfway mark. Kelly tapped 156, and H0 is crumbling to bits in the process of this game. Bells slammed 752 to pad the OU lead, which is likely at an untouchable level. Cassandra didn't succeed in her comeback attempt, scoring a measly 160 for H0. Wild Thing churned out 497 for OU on his good showing. Paige stumbled to 145 for H0, giving them a weak final of 1161 in a brutal loss. Chimpy kept it simple with 80 for OU, giving them 3142 in a huge win.

In another reverse match from earlier, Empyre 1 (E1) hosts Humanity- (H-) at Google Pitch at Union Ground in Modernistic. Chris didn't have a great start, taking 247 for H-. Graham hit a sneaky 392 for E1, giving them a minor lead at the start. Bryant fired back with 543 for H-, pulling them into the lead at this point. Stripes knocked 677 for E1 in a very strong performance, regaining the lead. Lydia's 338 was enough to cover the deficit for an H- team that's just holding on in this game. Snowball faltered on 106 for E1, allowing the game to tighten up at the halfway mark. Amber slapped 627 for H- on her turn, pulling them ahead in the game. Noelle suffered a bad deflection and ended with 36 for E1, who are now far behind as the game gets late. Shawn hauled in 608 for H-, giving them a larger lead. Sally struggled to 167 for E1, with the game far out of reach for them. Shannon chipped 153, giving H- a final of 2516 in what should be a win. Jake collected 519, but the effort was in vain as E1 lost with 1897.

Games 5 and 6 are on the schedule for tomorrow. The tournament should not be expected on Christmas, but there might be a surprise game or two per group if things are really slow-paced.
