We're back for a new, and hopefully less tumultuous, day of qualifying efforts. First up is...
Ruby, the Archtown Arrows legendary captain, who shoots Rotation with the blue cue. Ruby didn't make a ball on the break, but turned on the jets for her shots, completing the effort in 21 shots with only one error for illegal contact. TodavĂa Stills captain Easter gets the second game of the day, using the red cue in Accuracy as she becomes the fifth player to complete her qualifiers. Easter had a good performance this time, taking no errors despite some tougher shots after an empty break. Easter closed in 19 shots, totaling 163 shots and 16 errors in her qualifying sessions. Another Archtown Arrow gets the next game, as Sleepy B. uses the blue cue in 9-ball. Sleepy B. couldn't make a ball on the break, and she had nothing on the 1 early on, taking her only error for illegal contact. She would close in 20 shots in a poor performance. Central Warriors captain Twilight is next to play, shooting 15-ball with the red cue. Twilight picked up a successful game, taking only one error for a scratch and scoring 24 shots despite her empty break. Finishing the group, the Midland Predators' Leonardo plays 12-ball with the red cue. Leonardo had two balls on the break, but three errors and bad positioning left him to take 28 shots to complete the game.
Group two starts with Stephanie Livilotti, as the Southridge Defenders sophomore rising star shoots 9-ball with the red cue. Stephanie turned in a masterful outing, making a ball on the break and only taking one error for a scratch before finishing at 11 shots. Infinity Torpedoes captain Smudge is up next, playing 12-ball with the blue cue. Smudge started well enough with a ball on the break, but she would need 25 shots with one error to get through the game, positioning late in the game being the main problem for the veteran. Royal Crowns star Kayla plays eighth today, with the blue cue in hand for 10-ball. Kayla was on the right track but struggled with the 1, taking two errors shortly after potting it for a bad position. She would close the game out in 21 shots, making the best of a tough game. Moving along, the Southern Monarchs sophomore Hoppy plays Rotation with the red cue. Hoppy had some trouble after a bad break, taking an early error on a scratch, but she recovered with a nice surge. A late error forced her to end at 30 shots, not bad considering the difficult cluster near the spot. At the back of the group, the Viewpoint Sound Meteors' Dani plays 12-ball with the blue cue. Dani got a big game, making two balls to the bottom left on the break in an unusual occurrence. She took one error for missed contact late, but finished with a strong 19 shots.
Batch three opens with Diamond Gems sophomore Rosalina using the blue cue for 10-ball. Rosalina had a chance to have a good game, but her miss on the 6 led to her taking more errors, four in all, and 21 shots to get through a rough appearance for the young player. The Lighton Prestige's Nicole goes next, with the silver cue in 10-ball. Nicole tried her best, but suffered two major errors alongside a couple of shooting mistakes that inflated her game to 19 shots in yet another frustrating appearance in the most loathed event. Trying to calm things down, the Oceanside Waves captain Snuggle debuts for the season with the silver cue in 7-ball. Snuggle had an empty break, and he did take one error for illegal contact, but he kept a grip on the game and finished in 11 shots, an average outing. The 14th player of the day is Pronger Tridents captain Precious, using the silver cue in 10-ball. Precious couldn't solve the league's leading problem, going empty on the break and needing 23 shots with three errors to complete her appearance in the event. Closing the group, the Royal Crowns star Jake shoots 9-ball with the blue cue. Jake didn't make a ball on the break, but he really didn't need to, finishing in 11 shots without an error as he showed great control and precision on his shots.
The fourth group is led by Stonebridge Wolves rookie Vladimir Vasilyev, playing Rotation with the blue cue. Vladimir's good qualifying streak is done, as he needed 36 shots and four errors after an empty break to get through a frustrating outing. Trying to bounce back for the league, Southern Monarchs captain Panda picks up the silver cue to play 10-ball. Panda had one of the better showings in the event, still going empty on the break but taking no errors among his 17 shots for a fairly quick finish. The Gems' Rosalina returns for her second game today, using the red cue for 12-ball. Rosalina had nothing on the break, and a rookie-like mistake created one of her errors directly and the other indirectly, which pushed her score to a still-good 21 shots. Continuing along, the Queens Flames' returnee Kyle shoots 12-ball with the red cue as well. Kyle had a decent game going, but positioning on the last ball was poor, forcing him to take an error, two set-up shots, and a tap-in to finish the game at 23 shots. The 20th game of the day belongs to Westside Rockers newcomer Cowzart, who uses the blue cue in 9-ball. Cowzart was challenged from the start, committing an error by scratching on the break. He would take two more errors over 16 shots to get through a difficult game.
Group five begins with the Golden Pilots' Sparkles shooting Rotation with the silver cue. Sparkles put together an enviable effort, going empty on the break but taking no errors as she danced through the rack in 21 shots, showing brilliance at nearly every turn. Following that, Harrison Specters captain Twinkie II steps in for 15-ball with the red cue. Twinkie II didn't have as great a game, but she did make a ball on the break. One intentionally illegal play gave her two errors, but she finished in a solid 28 shots. Pacific Volcanoes superstar captain Starlight is next to shoot, using the blue cue in 15-ball. Starlight couldn't get a ball on the break, but had just enough hope to play clean that she only took three errors among 33 shots, split between the two approaches and mastering neither. Going 24th today, Starlight is back to be the sixth player to finish qualifying with the blue cue in Accuracy. Starlight had no errors and no balls on the break, crisply shooting the rack down in 18 shots after a bit of trouble with the last ball. She totaled 161 shots and 9 errors in qualifying. Rounding out the group, Victoria Spurs rookie Sage plays 10-ball with the red cue. Sage had nothing on the break, but her shooting was solid, and she finished in 16 shots, potentially aided by her one error for a scratch.
The sixth group kicks off as Modernistic Union rookie Kodiak plays 8-ball with the blue cue. Kodiak put a ball down on the break and played well throughout the game, taking no errors over 19 shots to put himself in a good position. Next up, we've got more 8-ball with Maplewood Lumberjacks captain Diddley using the blue cue as well. Diddley didn't have a good time in this one, illegally potting the 8 for his five errors in 26 shots, a critical mistake in shot selection causing the poor turn. The 28th game today belongs to Strawberry, as the Victoria Spurs newcomer plays 12-ball with the red cue. Strawberry fell into the same lack-of-positioning trap as many before her today, getting a ball on the break but running up three errors and 26 shots as she pursued the last ball. Jack, the Web City Spiders newcomer, tries to correct course again with the same red cue in 12-ball. Jack couldn't do any better, getting a ball on the break as well, but accruing four errors for scratches and an illegally potted ball before closing at 26 shots. Wrapping up the group, the Monarchs captain Panda plays his second game of the day in 12-ball with the blue cue, tempting fate on his good efforts so far. Panda left the appearance enraged, needing 31 shots and six errors after a terrible break to complete the game.
Bunch seven gets going with Whitewater Shores captain Bear playing 10-ball with the red cue. Bear didn't do terribly, but the temper of the league got to him a bit, as he made a ball on the break but boiled over with a pair of errors on an illegal contact scratch. He ended at 18 shots after overcooking a couple of looks at the 10. North Modernistic Nighthawks captain Peach goes next, playing 10-ball with the silver cue. Peach had only one error in her game, taking nothing on the break, but she showed well with her shots, needing only 15 to get through the rack. The 33rd game of the day goes to Central Warriors superstar Dustin, who plays 9-ball with the blue cue. Dustin made a ball on the break and took no errors in this appearance, needing only 11 shots to clear the table in an expert-level showing. After that, Harrison Specters star Sydney Sierota shoots 12-ball with the red cue. Sydney couldn't control the ball much, making a ball on the break but also taking the first of her two errors for scratches. Sydney would end at 26 shots, barely saving any respectability with late positioning skill. The group ends with Westside Rockers captain Misty shooting 10-ball with the silver cue. Misty had nothing on the break and took her only error while making the 1. She had some troubles with making shots at times, but surged at the end to finish with 18 shots total.
The final group is fronted by Cassie of the Royal Crowns, who plays 8-ball with the silver cue. Cassie had a tough middle of the game with one error for illegal contact, but she settled down to end at 22 shots despite the empty break at the start. The 37th player called to shoot today is Puff I of the Modernistic Union, and she'll shoot 10-ball with the red cue. Puff I did alright, ending in 16 shots with one ball on the break and two errors during the game in an appearance that seemed to have a bit of everything. The Tysini Hummingbirds' Brownie is up next, using the blue cue in Accuracy as the seventh player to finish qualifying. Brownie had two errors but also made a ball on the break in an eventful 17 shots during the game, still one of the better efforts in the event so far. Brownie needed 146 shots with 12 errors during qualifying this year. Moving along, we have the North Modernistic Nighthawks veteran B. Chapman's 9-ball game with the blue cue. Chapman had a ball on the break but failed multiple times on the 1. She had one error for illegal contact, which lucked her into a combination on the 3-9 deflected off the 6 and into the top right to end at 6 shots, an unpopular but successful play. Finally, the Atlantic Pirates veteran Steven plays 8-ball with the silver cue. Steven had two errors, including a scratch on the break, and he had to play delicately as the 8 hung to the edge of the bottom right, so he would finish with 22 shots in the end.
We'll be under league supervision tomorrow after some issues today. Panda will be suspended for the next Southern Monarchs game in cricket.
