Premier Cricket 2018 - Week 6

As Christmas fast approaches, Premier gets in a week of action before the holiday. First up...

Apple Park, Todavía: The Stills open the week with a doubleheader, resting Bells while facing the Predators, who have steady veteran Americus resting this time. Shawn wasted no time in establishing the Midland offense with 617 on his opening turn for the visitors. Easter replied with 579 for Todavía, a strong counterattack that keeps the score close early on. Rainmane did alright with 335 for the Predators in response, keeping them ahead for now. Sierra pulled the Stills ahead with a persistent attack, lacking pace at times but lasting long enough to get 747 at the midway mark. Leonardo replied with 320 for Midland against his former team, not enough to cover the deficit. Prism weakened the Todavía lead with only 196 on her turn, setting up an interesting finish. Fuchsia forced the hosts to respond with her 494 to put the Predators at a total of 1766 for the game. Anton did enough with 369 to grab the win for the Stills at a final of 1891. Todavía rises to 6-7, passing the now 5-7 Midland team.

Apple Park, Todavía: The other half of the doubleheader sees the Stills rest Prism, while Goldy's pool appearance yesterday has her out for the Eagles today. Puff III had a rough turn in lead-off for Everton with 179 at the start of this game. Easter set the tone with 863 for Todavía, giving them a large lead after the first turn. Cleo tried to put together a good game, but she got stuck protecting a rolling ball and couldn't attack the fast-flying offering that downed her at 280 for the Eagles. Sierra continued to do a lot without much to work with, taking 563 to pad the Stills lead this time despite her slow start. Kirstin got beat on a deflection at 161 for Everton, hurting their already-slim chances of a comeback. Bells accepted a low 224 for Todavía after a technical error, satisfied with the lead they already have. Blizzard couldn't meet the deficit with only 160 for the Eagles, capping a disappointing team effort at 780 in the loss. Anton just about matched the previous game with 368 for the Stills, icing their win at 2018. Todavía is up to 7-7, while Everton drops to 3-6 with the brutal loss.

Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The Knights begin a doubleheader here with Oreo on the bench against the Volcanoes, who sit Twinkie I, as both players took pool appearances yesterday. Starlight had an alright 285 for Pacific to lead off the scoring here. Kiwi answered with 416 for Terrace City, enough to put the hosts ahead by a small margin. Ms. Kitty answered with 353 for the Volcanoes, covering the deficit as scoring seems to be fairly average in this game so far. Jennifer countered with 289, keeping the Knights slightly ahead at the midway mark in a close game. Leonette challenged the hosts, smacking 609 for Pacific to give them their best lead yet. Melissa couldn't meet that challenge with 197 for Terrace City, letting them fall far behind with a player each to go. Chicky Phil supplemented the Volcanoes offense with 695 on his turn, giving them a total of 1942. Quincy answered with 654 for the Knights, but they fell with 1556 in the loss. Pacific gets a boost to 4-2, while Terrace City drops to 3-6.

Nestle's Warriors Park, Central: The Knights complete their doubleheader on the road, giving Kiwi her first rest of the year against the last-place Warriors, who have Noelle resting today. Jennifer's first crack at lead-off failed, as an aggressive double-hit went out of play to stall her at 234 for Terrace City. Twilight smashed a big 904 for Central in response, giving the hosts a big lead early on. Oreo slugged 2087 in response for the Knights, giving them a massive lead with her world-class performance. Dustin melted at 192 for the Warriors, unable to provide a sufficient counterattack. Melissa hit 324 this time for Terrace City, adding modestly to their lead. Mario got tangled up after a good start to his turn, ending at 236 for Central as it appears they will not recover. Quincy chipped only 145 after a bad swing to end the Knights' offense at 2790. Wings had only 54 for the Warriors, setting their losing total at 1386. Terrace City bounces back to 4-6, while Central drops to 2-5 with the loss.

Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: The Blades take a one-off home game without Jason N. for rest, while the Rockers close their eight-game road trip with Goatee resting. Misty had a middling 231 for Westside to get things started in this game. Snowball left the field frustrated with only 105 for Swordpoint after she just missed her final swing for no good reason. Slinks fell apart with 145 for the Rockers, adding to their small lead in the low-scoring start to the game. Dreamy blew things open with 487 for the Blades, putting them noticeably ahead at the halfway point. Midnight answered that attack with a solid 534 for Westside, regaining the lead by a slight margin. Bandit couldn't meet the challenge for Swordpoint, his 187 allowing them to fall behind again with a player each to go. Cowzart had a simple 273 for the Rockers, putting their final score at 1183, far from safe. Stealth sealed the comeback with 485 for the Blades, giving them a total of 1264 in the ugly win. Swordpoint jumps to 9-6, while Westside will be happy to end a 2-6 trip as they fall to 5-9 on the year.

Amazon Field, Golden: The Pilots are without reigning MVP Dusty, but the Volcanoes are giving Starlight a game off to clear her head, a lot of firepower sitting on the bench in this one. Ms. Kitty took 448 at the start for Pacific this time, giving them a stable base to build on. Valencia answered with 506 for Golden on the opening turn, putting the hosts slightly ahead. Twinkie I couldn't get a touch with her backhand when necessary, ending her turn at only 133 for the Volcanoes. Strut provided 233 for the Pilots in response, adding modestly to their lead. Leonette countered with 348 for Pacific, enough to cover the deficit for now. Sparkles dug in to score 552 for Golden on her turn, strengthening their lead late in the game. Chicky Phil gathered 441 for the Volcanoes at the end, setting their score at 1370 to force a response from the hosts. A. Charlton canceled that out with 448 to seal the Pilots' win at 1739. Golden rises to 9-5, while Pacific is down to 4-3.

Chevrolet Field, Everton: The Eagles are back home now, looking to avenge an earlier loss against the Shores. Katharine rests for the Shores, while Blizzard takes this one off for the Eagles. Bear had to deal with a tricky deflection, and his backhand was just short, ending at a solid 446 for Whitewater. Goldy answered with a strong 679 for Everton, giving the hosts an important early lead. Twinkie III shot back with 687 for the Shores, covering the deficit with a firm counterattack. Puff III survived two swings with her vision obscured, blasting 1217 for the Eagles to restore their lead. Marsell tried to reply with 367 for Whitewater, but they are still behind. Cleo kept things steady with 291 for Everton, maintaining their lead late in the game. Shaggy didn't have much for pace, but she still hauled in 481 for the Shores, which left them short at 1981 in the loss. Kirstin went with 218 for the Eagles, sealing their win at 2405. Everton gets a boost up to 4-6 while Whitewater falls to 5-9 with the loss.

Verizon Field, Pacific: The Stills begin a doubleheader on the road with Anton on the bench, while their Coastal rival Volcanoes sit Ms. Kitty for this game. Easter was in near-perfect form throughout the appearance, lining 874 for Todavía to take a big lead early on. Starlight had another poor outing with only 106 for Pacific. Sierra followed up with 819 for the Stills, another big attack from their two-person front that extends their lead greatly. Twinkie I fought back with a solid 543 for the Volcanoes, but they are deep in the hole currently. Bells let her turn end with a tough bounce, as she already had racked up 710 for Todavía to extend their lead again. Leonette served up a modest 332 for Pacific, allowing the deficit to grow again. Prism made a good appearance as well, her 915 likely cementing the Stills win at 3318, their most complete effort of the season. Chicky Phil had only 111 for the Volcanoes, well short of the mark as they lose with 1092. Todavía soars to 8-7, while Pacific drops to 4-4.

Apple Park, Todavía: The Stills return home, hoping to replicate the last game as they sit Anton again, while the Pilots rest Valencia this time. Dusty smashed 883 for Golden, showing a much more formidable attack than their hosts' previous opponent. Easter had 553 in response for Todavía, putting them a bit behind at the start. Strut had a bad swing at 304 for the Pilots, weakening their lead with the poorer second attack. Sierra offered a quick response with 650 for the Stills, pressuring the hosts at the halfway mark with the quick attack. Sparkles reclaimed a decent lead with 448 for Golden against her former team, keeping the game interesting. Bells answered with 637 for Todavía, giving them a more distinct lead with a player each to go. A. Charlton forced the hosts to respond with her 393 for the Pilots, putting their final score at 2028. Prism couldn't make the move, falling with 39 for the Stills, who take a heartbreaking loss at 1879. Golden jumps to 10-5, while Todavía drops to 8-8.

Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The Knights are without Quincy this time for rest, while Leonardo takes a seat for the road-challenged Predators. Shawn cleared an alright 327 for Midland on the opening turn, leaving them in a tough position. Kiwi took 539, accepting that score rather than doing a technical error replay as the former gave Terrace City the early lead. Rainmane covered the deficit with 368 for the Predators, again lacking pacing in their turns on the road. Jennifer gave the Knights a bit more cushion, slapping 571 to extend their lead midway through the game. Americus struck 490 for Midland to keep them in the game for another turn. Oreo had a weak 112, but Terrace City remains ahead with a player each to go. Fuchsia took the opportunity at hand to score 528 for the Predators, setting their final at 1713 to challenge the hosts. Melissa fell short at 308 for the Knights, their losing total resting at 1530. Midland is up to 6-7 on the year, while Terrace City drops to 4-7 with the disappointing loss.

Verizon Field, Pacific: The Volcanoes sit Chicky Phil this time, while Lize can make her debut for the Tridents, which puts Potter on the bench for this game. Precious had a rough start for Pronger in this game, taking only 39 points on the opening turn. Starlight had a breakout effort for Pacific, ripping 942 to give them a hefty lead after the first turn. Zach answered with 506 for the Tridents, cutting into the deficit with the sturdy performance. Ms. Kitty offset some of that damage with 343 for the Volcanoes, her low pace chipping a little off their lead. Spot slipped at 228 for Pronger, hurting their comeback effort with a mediocre showing this time. Twinkie I tried a backhand early on, but she lifted it too high and fell with a measly 16 for Pacific. Lize's debut went well with 544 for the Tridents, giving them a total of 1317 to force a small response from the hosts. Leonette tapped 144 for the Volcanoes, plenty to give her side the win at 1445. Pacific is back to 5-4 on the year, while Pronger dips to 4-4.

Amazon Field, Golden: The Pilots are home to end the week, with Strut getting his rest against the Tridents, who sit Lize this time as they ease her into action. Precious had another down game with only 244 for Pronger this time, a middling score for the captain. Valencia carved up 727 for Golden in response, putting the hosts ahead by a significant margin. Zach shot back with 439 for the Tridents, not enough for them to cover the deficit this time. Dusty slipped up at 162 for the Pilots, weakening their lead halfway through the game. Spot got beat on a slow ball for Pronger, deflecting it up and out of play to take a weak 111 in another failure to match the opponent. Sparkles added another 696 for Golden on this attack, likely securing the game in their favor. Potter had only 204 for the Tridents, leaving them at a loss with 998. A. Charlton lifted 497 for the Pilots in the end, putting their final at 2082. Golden is up to 11-5, while Pronger drops to 4-5 with the loss.

That's all for week 6. Standings will soon be updated, as well as the naming of the Premier team of the week on Twitter @UnitedPCL. Tomorrow, only qualifiers are in action.
