We've got a new day of qualifying action, featuring 40 games. The first one goes to...
Modernistic Union captain Ms. Puppy, who shoots Accuracy with the silver cue as the 40th player to finish qualifying. Ms. Puppy had an okay outing with 21 shots and no errors after an empty break, putting her totals at 143 shots and only 6 errors. Next up, Tysini Hummingbirds veteran Charli XCX shoots 12-ball with the red cue. Charli had a bad game, making a ball on the break but taking four errors, three for illegally potted balls thanks to a bad distribution from the break. She ended the appearance with a big 28 shots. The third game today goes to Pacific Volcanoes veteran Leonette, who shoots Accuracy with the blue cue as the 41st player to complete qualifiers. Leonette needed 21 shots without an error to clear the table, struggling with command at times in the game. Leonette totaled 169 shots and 16 errors in a rough qualifying campaign. Moving along, Atlantic Pirates returnee Steven jumps in for Rotation with the silver cue. Steven looked pretty sharp in this game, getting some lucky bounces after early on after an empty break but earning his 26 shot score by the end, with only two errors. Ending the group, Westside Rockers captain Misty tries Accuracy with the red cue, the 42nd player to complete qualifiers. Misty made a ball on the break and then put the rack down in only 16 shots, a great performance setting her finals at 140 shots and 8 errors.
Group two leads off with Pearl Surfers newcomer Bright shooting Accuracy with the blue cue, the 43rd player done with qualifying. Bright didn't get anything on his break, but he also avoided errors, ending with 19 shots in the game and totals of 162 shots and 12 errors overall. The seventh game today sees Mr. Snowman of the Infinity Torpedoes playing 10-ball with the red cue. Mr. Snowman absolutely hounded the 10 in this game, putting it in motion as he cautiously arranged a play off the 1, drawing the cue to bump the 10 into the top right to end with 4 shots and no errors despite the empty break. Following that, the Queens Flames' Kyle plays 15-ball with the red cue. Kyle had an interesting game, playing deviously with eight errors, all intentional, among his 29 shots after an empty break. Up next, Archtown Arrows veteran Sleepy B. does 15-ball with the silver cue. Sleepy B. couldn't put anything special together, ending on 31 shots and four errors after an empty break and some failed honorable play early on. Finishing the group, Capital City Sharpshooters rookie Pauline plays Rotation with the red cue. Pauline struggled in this one, getting nothing from a potent break and then taking five errors, three quite early in the game, to end at 32 shots.
The third group begins with Maplewood Lumberjacks veteran Bryant playing 9-ball with the red cue. Bryant had a ball on the break but couldn't seem to make anything after that, ending with 20 shots and two errors after putting a bit of anger into his late shots. After that, Southridge Defenders captain Debby Ryan plays Accuracy with the blue cue, the 44th player to finish qualifying. Debby could have gotten better results, taking 22 shots with one error after an empty break despite some close calls. She ended with 165 shots and 16 errors. Avril Lavigne, the Southern Monarchs rookie, gets the next game in 9-ball with the red cue. Avril needed only 12 shots, with an error and a ball on the break before the game settled into a quick groove. Viewpoint Sound Meteors newcomer Dani draws in for 15-ball with the blue cue. Dani tried her best at times, but with an empty break and six errors throughout the game, including as she scratched on the 15 for what would have been an early ending, she needed 31 shots to complete the appearance. The 15th player drawn today is Oceanside Waves captain Snuggle, who plays 10-ball with the blue cue. Snuggle had some wrist troubles at the start of the game, but settled in and finished in 9 shots after an empty break, making the 6 to the top right while the deflection put the 10 in the top side, and he had no errors.
The fourth batch sees Queens Flames sophomore Violetta play Accuracy with the blue cue, the 45th player to finish qualifying. Violetta cleared the rack in 19 shots without an error, although the lack of a ball on the break annoyed her. She ended at 129 shots and 8 errors for all of her qualifying efforts. Oceanside Waves rookie Josie is next, shooting 12-ball with the blue cue. Josie impressed with a ball on the break, and then only took one error in 18 shots as she got pretty fortunate with most of the positioning in the game. Continuing along, the Westside Rockers' Goatee is up for 8-ball with the red cue. Goatee made a ball on the break in a good performance that also saw her make a ball on the break but take two errors on scratches in the middle of the 20-shot effort. The 19th player called today is Web City Spiders captain Shadow, who shoots 9-ball with the blue cue. Shadow had a rough game, needing 17 shots with one error to overcome the empty break. At the back of the group, Maplewood Lumberjacks captain Diddley does 15-ball with the blue cue. Diddley didn't make a ball on the break and he took one error early on, but he cleaned it up with a triple pot of the 2 and 4 to the top right and the 12 to the bottom right, which gave him a boost in confidence as he would end at 21 shots.
Group five opens with Puff I of the Modernistic Union doing Accuracy with the red cue, the 46th player to complete qualifiers. Puff I had a highlight triple-pot, using the 15-14-1-4 combination with the latter three of those dropping on her third shot. Puff I did make a ball on the break, but a few too many misses pushed her score to 17 shots, giving her totals of 148 shots and 13 errors. Infinity Torpedoes sophomore Solaris goes next, with the blue cue in hand for 10-ball. Solaris couldn't quite make a ball on the break, but he closed the game in 12 shots without an error, showing some of his potential. Following that, the Victoria Spurs sophomore Wario plays Rotation with the blue cue. Wario had a decent enough start after an empty break, but his five error caught up to him late and he ended on 28 shots. The 24th game today goes to the Torpedoes' Mr. Snowman, whose second game of the day is in 12-ball with the silver cue. Mr. Snowman had trouble executing his shots early on, needing 23 without an error and despite the good break to clear the table. Wrapping up the group, Diamond Gems returnee Cassandra plays Accuracy with the silver cue, the 47th player to finish qualifying. Cassandra didn't get anything on the break, and then had a short slump in the middle of the game before rallying to end at 20 shots. She totaled 139 shots and 8 errors for all her games.
The sixth group starts as Viewpoint Sound Meteors rookie Vincent Sullivan does 9-ball with the blue cue. Vincent had a ball on the break, but too much caution gave him the first of two errors in the game, and he would end up at 16 shots by the end. Maplewood Lumberjacks newcomer Whiskers plays the 27th game today, using the silver cue in 9-ball. Whiskers did get a ball on the break, and despite her shaky finish, she still ended the game in 12 shots with one error. After that, Central Warriors superstar Dustin plays 10-ball with the silver cue. Dustin needed 18 shots to get through this appearance, with an empty break and a couple of unfortunate errors weighing him down just a bit. Next up, Lighton Prestige captain Acorn does Rotation with the blue cue. Acorn needed five errors in the game, only three of them with intent, to complete the game in 27 shots after going empty on the break despite a couple of close calls. Rounding out the group, the Maplewood Lumberjacks' Gabe plays Rotation with the blue cue. Gabe weaved around a difficult start, taking only three errors in the game to end in 23 shots despite the empty break.
Group seven kicks off with Infinity Torpedoes star Fluffina playing 12-ball with the blue cue. Fluffina made a ball on the break, but she struggled with late-game positioning, and took one error before closing the game on 22 shots. Continuing along, Web City Spiders veteran Sugar plays Rotation with the silver cue. Sugar looked good in this game, taking three errors early on after an empty break but shutting things down at 25 shots in the end with a good final surge. The 33rd game of the day is for Pacific Volcanoes veteran Chicky Phil as he plays 15-ball with the silver cue. Chicky Phil found a rare ball on the break today, but his three errors and cautious finish pushed his score up to 29 shots, an alright score for the event. Up next, Archtown Arrows mainstay Sally plays Accuracy with the silver cue as the 48th player to finish qualifying. Sally didn't make anything but the first of three errors on the break, all scratches, and she finished at 21 shots even with the anchor of her mistakes. She had 167 shots and 16 errors throughout her games. Closing out the group, the Central Warriors returnee Noelle plays 9-ball with the silver cue. Noelle had a ball on the break, but she took a bad pair of errors early on before finishing the appearance in 12 shots.
The final group gets going with Golden Pilots legend Dusty playing 15-ball with the red cue. Dusty fell apart on the 4 after a decent start despite the empty break. She crashed to seven errors in 37 shots, her ugliest game of the year by far. The 37th game of the day belongs to Pronger Tridents sophomore Spot, who does Accuracy with the silver cue as the 49th player to complete his qualifiers. Spot had a ball on the break in this one, and then took only one error in 19 shots as he cleared the table pretty quickly. Spot's totals are 150 shots and 16 errors for the qualifying sessions. Viewpoint Sound Meteors captain Mams is next to shoot, using the red cue in 15-ball in a hopeful redemption game. Mams couldn't make a ball on the break, and she took three errors after a slow start but still finished at 28 shots for a decent appearance. After that, Royal Crowns star Jake plays Rotation with the red cue. Jake had a ball on the break, but his shooting was wild and erratic in the middle and late parts of the game, forcing him into four errors over 30 shots for the game. Finally, Oceanside Waves sophomore Dewey plays Rotation with the out-of-control red cue. Dewey tamed the beast, getting a ball on the break alongside the first of his six errors, but he ended the game in 25 shots.
Tomorrow will probably be a larger day of games, likely 50, before resuming with 40-game days all week as we begin to wind Qualifiers down.
