Elite Cricket 2018 - Week 4

A new week in the middle tier of cricket is set to start now, as...

AT&T Oceanside Stadium, Oceanside: The Waves must sit streaking captain Snuggle for rest after his pool debut, while Jack is on the bench for the Spiders after his appearance yesterday. Shadow did alright with 299 for Web City, getting bogged down by difficulties with clearing balls. Celestia blew that out of the water, which doesn't even begin to describe the fervent hysteria associated with her detonation of 4399 for Oceanside, giving the hosts an unbeatable lead with the best-ever UPCL individual performance. Ted, reflecting the Spiders, put up a mere 98 points, still in awe of the game that went against them. Josie put up a great 770 for the Waves as well, but it looked small in comparison to her teammate, even as it clinched the seventh-ever 5k team performance (17th 4k). Sugar attacked with pace to grab 405 for Web City as they play out the game with the hope of rebuilding confidence. Dewey dug in with another 670 for Oceanside, continuing to pursue great heights for the team. Shiny kept the Spiders respectable with 597, giving them a losing final of 1399. Jason V. rallied to 795 for the Waves at the end, icing their historic win at 6634 to claim the highest team score and largest margin of victory in league history. Oceanside's best game takes them to 6-3, while Web City could be reeling for weeks as they fall to 2-5.

Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: The Torpedoes are at home, resting their captain Smudge, while the Nighthawks do the same as they finish a four-game road trip. Cheddar was under pressure early for North Modernistic, and only hit 264 on her opening turn. Fluffina answered with 777 for Infinity in her first appearance for them in lead-off, a position she's quite comfortable with. Gal made a strong push with 578 for the Nighthawks in her career debut, covering the deficit. Solaris countered with an even better 721 for the Torpedoes, keeping their lead substantial at the midway mark. B. Chapman answered with 704 for North Modernistic, keeping them in the fight despite a slower start. Shelley butchered her turn for Infinity, taking a meager 16 as they fall slightly behind with a player each to go. Luigi stumbled as a deflection caught him off guard, downing him at 80 to leave the Nighthawks at 1626. Mr. Snowman played cautiously, poking 149 as the Torpedoes sneak ahead at 1663 for a gritty win. Infinity rises to 4-2, while North Modernistic drops to 2-2.

Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: The Surfers begin a five-game home stand with Beth on the bench, while Brownie's appearance yesterday puts her out of the lineup today. Princess made a good start for Tysini, slicing 791 to set the tone early on. Boots answered with a decent 305 for Pearl, but they will start from a noticeable deficit in this game. Leandra lined up and pummeled 640 for the Hummingbirds, extending their lead nicely with the effort. Watermelon had a bad swing that went off target and ended her turn at 224 for the Surfers, allowing the deficit to grow. Charli also looked good for Tysini with 623, although she could have had more if not for some lazy swings at the end. Neopolitan picked up a weak 145 for Pearl, likely confirming a loss for the hosts. Paps tapped 312 to ice the Hummingbirds offense at 2366 in a likely victory. Bright only managed 119 for the Surfers in a sloppy turn that sees them officially lose with 793 in another challenged home game. Tysini jumps to 3-5, while Pearl is 1-5 after another befuddling loss.

IBM Nighthawks Nest, North Modernistic: The Nighthawks sit B. Chapman to rest in their home opener, while Rosemary takes a second game on the bench for the Tradewinds. Tigerette didn't seem bothered by losing the individual scoring record, hammering 511 for Commerce to start this game. Peach bested her here, clobbering 761 for North Modernistic to grab the early lead. Taylor replied with 726 for the Tradewinds, doing her part to cover the deficit with confidence. Cheddar defiantly struck back with 912 for the Nighthawks, keeping them well ahead in this high-scoring battle. Lionel buckled at 145 for Commerce, harming their chances of making a late comeback. Gal kept North Modernistic on track with 679, extending their lead greatly with the effort. Niki got beat on a deflection at 259 for the Tradewinds, confirming their loss at 1641. Luigi had a quiet 240 for the Nighthawks, finishing their win at 2592. North Modernistic gets a lift to 3-2, replacing Commerce as the visitors fell to 3-3.

Starbucks Cup, Archtown: The Arrows have quite a challenge on hand as the Sharpshooters pay them a visit. Missy sits for the Sharpshooters while Sleepy B. rests for the Arrows. Chris provided a stable start to Capital City's attack with 555, a good mark from their reliable captain. Sally did alright with 339 for Archtown in a solid response that sees them trail a bit early on. Sprinkles stumbled with 161 for the Sharpshooters, weakening their lead with the poor outing. Ruby's turn ended with a measly 16 points after a failed double-hit sent a ball straight out of bounds, hurting the Arrows' comeback. Lorde went with a great pace to gather 664 for Capital City, boosting their lead with an energetic effort. Dusky answered with 504 for Archtown, unable to dent the deficit facing the hosts. Pauline added 416 for the Sharpshooters to cap their efforts at 1796. Wild Thing's late comeback ended on a deflection at 162 for the Arrows, leaving them at a loss with 1021. Capital City continues to run opponents over at 6-1, while Archtown sinks to 4-6.

Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: The Sharpshooters finish a doubleheader at the start of a three-game home stand with Lorde resting, while the Spiders begin a doubleheader without Shiny. Shadow had a bad swing at the end, but still scored 599 in a firm appearance for Web City. Chris barely pulled Capital City ahead, hauling in 610 in another excellent effort. Ted's big swing was halted as he went to his backhand but suffered a deflection to end at 108 for the Spiders. Missy did a little better with 138 for the Sharpshooters, adding very modestly to the lead. Sugar didn't have the cleanest of turns, with two false starts before hitting a middling 276 for Web City. Sprinkles slipped with 184 for Capital City, costing them the lead before the final players come to bat. Jack answered with 543 for the Spiders, a big effort that gets them to a total of 1526. Pauline couldn't make the rally, a backhand taking her out of position for a high ball that ended her turn at 138 for the Sharpshooters, who lose at 1070. Web City gets a critical win for morale, going to 3-5, while Capital City is down to 6-2.

Home Depot Forum, Web City: The Spiders rest Shadow as they finish the doubleheader, while the Hummingbirds bench Paps in the third of an eight-game road trip. Princess got overwhelmed by a high arcing ball, which cut her down at 211 when she couldn't make a play on it for Tysini. Ted had only 131 for Web City, mired deep in a sophomore slump as he fails to cover even a moderate deficit. Leandra saw a two-ball deflection hit her back 4s, but it distracted her from the next swing, which stalled her at 283 for the Hummingbirds as she missed contact. Sugar made up the difference with 455 for the Spiders, making things competitive at the midway mark. Charli answered with 564 for Tysini, regaining the lead with authority. Jack took another 455 for Web City, offsetting some of the damage as the teams remain close late in the game. Brownie spiked 799 for the Hummingbirds at the end, sealing their score at 1857. Shiny got a ball caught under her bat, ending at just 87 as the Spiders lose with 1128. Tysini moves ahead of their hosts at 4-5, while Web City is pushed back to 3-6.

Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: Pauline sits for the Sharpshooters after last game's late disaster, while Kyle rests for the Flames this time. Crystal had a solid opener for Queens, batting 443 to give them a stable foundation in this tough road environment. Chris charged forward with 807 for Capital City instead, putting them noticeably ahead. Violetta had an acceptable effort with 384 for the Flames, keeping them in the fight with a light cover over the deficit. Missy answered with a firm second attack, slicing 519 to restore a lead for the Sharpshooters. Briana had 259 for Queens, unable to help them catch up this time. Sprinkles countered with 419 for Capital City, keeping their lead strong heading into the final players' turns. Hannah picked up 560 for the Flames at the end, but they still took the loss at 1646. Lorde replied with 658 for the Sharpshooters at the end, sealing their win at 2403. Capital City stays atop the league at 7-2, while Queens takes a knock back to 5-4.

Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: The Surfers are trying to gain ground without Watermelon, while the Spiders sit Ted for poor performance. Shadow had an acceptable 344 for Web City at the start, a bit lower than his usual production levels in lead-off. Boots hammered 856 for Pearl in response, giving the hosts a significant lead early on. Sugar raked in 389 for the Spiders, unable to cover the deficit with her performance. Neopolitan kept things steady for the Surfers halfway through the game, adding 384 to their offense to make the second turn a wash. Jack made a push with 539 for Web City, just covering the deficit with his big showing. Bright made it a near-tied game with a new low of 30 points for Pearl, leaving the result to the final players. Shiny set a fairly high bar with 494 for the Spiders, putting their final at 1766. Beth managed a paltry 69 for the Surfers, leaving them at a loss with 1339. Web City's comeback takes them to 4-6, while Pearl sinks to 1-6 with the loss.

Google Pitch at Union Ground, Modernistic: The Union sit Kodiak in their second of three straight against the Tradewinds, who have been busier during this stretch and bench Niki this time. Tigerette played fairly well with 392 for Commerce, showing a firm swing throughout the turn. Ms. Puppy's rough start at home continued with only 195 this time for Modernistic. Taylor pounded 646 in response for the Tradewinds, adding some extra cushion to their lead. Daisy picked up a decent 343 for the Union, but they remain behind at the halfway mark. Lionel belted 848 more for Commerce on his turn, continuing their surge in offense to boost the lead again. Puff I mitigated this damage with 756 for Modernistic, but they remain at quite the deficit late in the game. Rosemary slashed 497 for the Tradewinds at the end, icing their total at 2383. Chimpy chipped 458 for the Union at the end, setting their total at 1752 in the loss. Commerce gets a boost to 4-3, while Modernistic is down at 1-5.

McDonald's Pitch at Pirates Park, Atlantic: The Pirates sit Isabella in their only game this week for performance, while Princess gets rest for the Hummingbirds. Leandra scattered 529 for Tysini on the opening turn, showing a bit of strength that was slow to appear for her this year. Delila failed with her big swing mentality this time, picking up only 124 for Atlantic. Charli replied with 639 for the Hummingbirds, more than doubling their offense with the effort. Steven had a somewhat low effort with 354 for the Pirates, not his best showing since returning to the league. Brownie got a bit too aggressive with her pace, destabilizing the Tysini lead as she produced on 81 points. Klaus cut deeply into the deficit with 626 for Atlantic, adding a bit of intrigue with a player each to go. Paps checked in with 426 for the Hummingbirds, setting their final at 1675, which isn't quite safe yet. Max made the push with 566 for the Pirates, leaving them with 1670 in the narrow loss. Tysini escapes with a thin win to get to 5-5, while Atlantic drops to 3-3.

Nike Field, Commerce: The Tradewinds are back in action against the Union, with Taylor resting for the hosts while Chimpy does the same for the visitors. Ms. Puppy had to deal with tough deflections, which wore her down to her end at 167 for Modernistic. Tigerette couldn't capitalize for Commerce, also starting slow with only 200 to put the hosts narrowly ahead. Daisy canceled that out with 199 for the Union, but their lead remains feeble after the second attack. Lionel got beat by a deflection, his 129 actually causing the Tradewinds to fall behind in the gritty, low-scoring battle. Puff I broke the game wide open with 896 for Modernistic, giving them a sizable lead now. Rosemary let a ball bounce off her bat handle the wrong way, stalling her at 78 for a Commerce team facing a steep climb. Kodiak added 384 to pad the Union lead to a final score of 1646. Niki rallied with 654 for the Tradewinds, but they still lost at 1061. Modernistic is up to 2-5 with the upset, while Commerce slips back to 4-4.

That's all for this week after some excitement and many delays. Premier cricket Week 4 begins tomorrow.
