Today is our last day of qualifiers before a one-day break tomorrow to allow Premier cricket to catch up. We begin the day with...
Royal Crowns captain Nightfur playing 15-ball with the red cue. Nightfur couldn't get anything on the break, and a tough distribution pinned her with three errors early. She looked for combination tries and made one, bouncing off the 9 for the 13-15 combination to the bottom right to end at 26 shots. A. Charlton of the Golden Pilots goes next, playing Accuracy with the silver cue as the 33rd player to finish qualifying. Charlton did make a ball on the break, but she was shaky after that, needing 22 shots with one error to complete the game, ending with totals of 170 shots and 19 errors. The third game today goes to the Archtown Arrows' Dusky, who shoots 10-ball with the red cue. Dusky had a bad game, getting a ball on the break but taking two errors after a difficult start and ending the game with 21 shots. Trying to bring some excitement aboard, we have Oceanside Waves rookie Jason V. trying 9-ball with the silver cue. Jason took two balls on a good break, and then finished the game in 11 shots without an error from there. The group ends with Pearl Surfers co-captain Neopolitan playing 12-ball with the blue cue. Neopolitan made a pair on the break, but one bad shot on the 5 toward the top side derailed a great game, giving her two errors and 19 shots in the end.
The second group gets going with Archtown Arrows captain Ruby, who plays 15-ball with the silver cue. Ruby did make a ball on the break to set the tone early, and she followed up with only three errors in 23 shots in a productive and quick appearance. Moving along, the Golden Pilots star Strut plays 12-ball with the silver cue. Strut didn't get anything on the break, but he also steered clear of dangerous shots, finishing in 20 shots without an error. Harrison Specters rookie Mitchell gets the next game, trying 10-ball with the red cue. Mitchell had one of the worst games of the day, needing three errors and 29 shots to get through his game after a terrible break that he couldn't shake. The ninth game of the day goes to the Arrows' Ruby, who becomes the 34th player done with qualifying as she plays Accuracy with the silver cue. Ruby didn't get anything on the break but also didn't take any errors over her 20 shots in a game that started well before a late fade. Ruby had 150 shots and 8 errors in qualifying. At the back of the group, Stonebridge Wolves rookie Hershey plays 12-ball with the red cue. Hershey had a bit of trouble in the middle of the game after an empty break, but he took no errors and ended in 20 shots for a decent effort.
Westside Rockers captain Misty opens the third group, using the silver cue in 15-ball. Misty had an excellent game this time, making two balls on the break and taking only one error during the course of play, finishing at 15 shots as she jammed the 6 into the rail to bump the 15 to the bottom right. Following that, Freedom Cascades mainstay Stinky plays Accuracy with the blue cue, the 35th player to complete qualifiers. Stinky did fairly well, but he was empty on the break and needed 20 shots to get through the error-free game. He ends with 154 shots and 10 errors in qualifying this year. The 13th game of the day goes to the Harrison Specters' Lexi Woode, who shoots Rotation with the silver cue. Lexi had little hesitation with making illegal contact for personal gain, especially after an empty break, and it worked to give her 27 shots with only three errors. Maplewood Lumberjacks captain Diddley goes next, playing 12-ball with the silver cue. Diddley had a ball on the break, and nearly took his lone error on the same play, but he saved it for later, helping him in the long run to finish in 16 shots. Rounding out the group, Pacific Volcanoes mainstay Ms. Kitty plays 12-ball with the silver cue as well. Ms. Kitty had a similar game, making two balls on the break but taking an early error and then rushing to finish at 20 shots after some difficult setup work for positioning.
Batch four starts with the Wolves' Hershey returning for Rotation with the silver cue. Hershey didn't struggle at all in this game, getting a ball on the break and taking only one error. A few lucky bounces helped him finish in 25 shots for a good showing. The 17th player called to shoot today is Atlantic Pirates captain Delila, who does Accuracy with the red cue as the 36th player to complete qualifying. Delila looked pretty good, making a ball on the break and surging through the game in 18 shots with no errors to record totals of 140 shots and 14 errors. Moving along, the Whitewater Shores veteran Shaggy plays Accuracy with the silver cue to be the 37th player done with qualifying. Shaggy didn't need much help on her shots, getting done in 19 of them despite an empty break, as she also took no errors from the game. Shaggy had 167 shots and 15 errors throughout her qualifying game. Next up is Oceanside Waves captain Snuggle playing 9-ball with the red cue. Snuggle didn't get a ball on the break and had to make up for a slow start to end in 17 shots, although he did avoid errors in the performance. Wrapping up the group, the Southern Monarchs sophomore Hoppy plays 15-ball with the red cue. Hoppy took care of business with a ball on the break and no errors during the course of play, ending at 25 shots for her well-played efforts.
Group five leads off with TodavĂa Stills veteran Bells playing 15-ball with the blue cue. Bells had a good performance, getting a ball on the break, although three errors weighed her down to 27 shots after a shaky finish to the game. Puff I of the Modernistic Union goes next, playing 15-ball with the blue cue as well. Puff I made a ball on the break too, but she added four errors and finished her game a step quicker in 26 shots, showing a bit more bite on her shots. The 23rd game of the day goes to Panda of the Southern Monarchs, who plays Accuracy with the red cue to be the 38th player done with qualifying. Panda had an empty break but also no errors in the game, clearing the table in 19 shots with a hot start and a mid-game fade before a second wind carried him to the finish. Panda closes at 153 shots with 12 errors. Continuing along, the Viewpoint Sound Meteors sophomore Nibbles does 12-ball with the red cue. Nibbles had an uncharacteristically bad appearance, making a pair of balls on the break but also adding five errors for scratches and illegally potted balls among his 28 shots in the game. Finishing the group, Commerce Tradewinds star Taylor Swift plays Rotation with the blue cue. Taylor had a tough game, choosing to abandon the rules for four of her five errors before managing to close the game in 29 shots after an empty break.
The sixth group begins as the Infinity Torpedoes' Mr. Snowman plays 9-ball with the blue cue. Mr. Snowman absolutely choked from the 7 onward in this game, wasting a ball on the break without any errors over his 20 shots, half of which were on the last three balls. Up next, Queens Flames sophomore Violetta shoots 15-ball with the red cue. Violetta was nearly perfect, and would have zeroed the game had the 13 not blocked the 15 at the top right. She made two balls on the break and took no errors in 9 shots before burying the 4-15 combination on her fourth try, the urgency of a good game giving her excess caution. Following that, the Stonebridge Wolves captain Juno plays Rotation with the red cue. Juno had a ball on the break and kept herself at one error for the appearance, ending with 23 shots in an excellent showing. Sleepy B. of the Archtown Arrows steps in next for Rotation with the red cue as well. Sleepy B. couldn't make anything fall on the break, and she had two early errors in the game, but she settled into a nice groove over the second half, ending in 21 shots for a great game in the end. The 30th player drawn to shoot today is the Web City Spiders' Shiny, who plays another Rotation game with the red cue. Shiny picked up a ball on the break, but needed three errors to grease the game along, which took 28 shots by the end as the league-wide groove for the event fades away again.
Group seven kicks off with the Whitewater Shores' Twinkie III playing Accuracy with the blue cue, the 39th player to complete qualifiers. Twinkie III couldn't get anything on the break, but she played very well regardless, taking 17 shots and no errors to clear the table. She finished with 143 shots and 15 errors. The Tysini Hummingbirds star Leandra is next up, playing Rotation with the blue cue. Leandra didn't make a ball on the break, but she did limit herself to two errors early on and then finished with 23 shots after a slight blip just after the middle of the game. The 33rd player to shoot today is Swordpoint Blades sophomore Bandit, who has the blue cue in hand for 12-ball. Bandit had some difficulty with positioning late in the game, but his empty break and no errors left him with 22 shots after he solved the pressure shots. After that, Lumberjacks captain Diddley returns for his second game today, using the silver cue in Rotation. Diddley had an empty break, but that was merely the beginning of his problems. He got by the first 10 balls fine, but he ended at five errors and 33 shots after struggling from the 11 onward. Closing the group, the Westside Rockers' Goatee makes her season debut in 7-ball with the red cue. Goatee had an alright start to the year, getting nothing from the break but finishing in a reasonable 11 shots without an error.
The final group is fronted by Southern Monarchs veteran Pounce, who plays 10-ball with the silver cue. Pounce had to work well in tight spaces after scratching on an otherwise empty break for his only error in the game. He shut things down in 17 shots, not bad given the circumstances. The 37th game of the day belongs to the Diamond Gems' Pedey, who plays Rotation with the silver cue. Pedey had four balls down within two shots, although he also took three errors in the game. His successful break and quick start made him cautious to preserve it at the end, which in turn helped him spoil the game down to 27 shots. Moving along, the Modernistic Union returnee Chimpy plays 12-ball with the red cue. Chimpy got a ball on the break to help set the tone for his game, and he took no errors over 20 shots as he mostly cruised through the game without much trouble. The Boston Swifts' Puff II takes the next game, using the silver cue in 15-ball. Puff II didn't have her best game, but 32 shots and three errors after an empty break isn't categorically her worst this year either, a tough season continuing regardless. Finally, the week ends with Dani of the Viewpoint Sound Meteors using the red cue in Rotation. Dani didn't make a good final impression on the week, going empty on the break and haphazardly shooting 32 shots with six errors included to finish her appearance.
Qualifiers will be back on Sunday, while tomorrow is devoted solely to Premier cricket.
