Premier Cricket 2018 - Week 7

We'll be spreading this set of games over three days to accommodate some timing issues. We begin with...

Nestle's Warriors Hall, Central: The Warriors start the day with Wings on the bench against the Predators, who sit Fuchsia in the first of their road doubleheader. Shawn had a slow start with 181 for Midland this time, putting them in a rough spot early in the game. Twilight got knocked back on a deflection to end at a measly 16 for Central. Rainmane added 304 for the Predators in another low-scoring performance that gives doubt to the stability of their lead. Dustin answered with 532 for the Warriors, making it a closer game at the halfway mark. Leonardo barely covered the deficit with 183 for Midland, putting them in a dangerous position again. Mario restored the Central lead with a poor 167, keeping the scoring low in this week opener. Americus challenged the hosts well with 394 for the Predators, setting their paltry final at 1062. Noelle couldn't clear a cluttered pitch, falling at 200 as the Warriors lose with 915. Midland escapes with a lucky win to get to 7-7, while Central drops to 2-6 with the hard loss.

BMW RockDome, Westside: The Predators end the road doubleheader with Shawn on the bench in their fourth of six straight on the road, while their hosts, the Rockers, sit Misty in their long-awaited return home. Rainmane had another weak effort with 269 for Midland at the start of this game. Goatee couldn't counter effectively with 176 for Westside, another low-scoring start today. Leonardo couldn't break the curse over the game, taking a mediocre 201 for the Predators. Slinks matched that with 201 of her own for the Rockers, keeping things low and close at the midway mark. Americus sparked up with 487 for Midland, doing her part to give the visitors the lead. Midnight finally exploded for Westside, slugging 1014 to put them far ahead with a player each to go. Fuchsia crumbled with 162 for the Predators, who lost at 1119. Cowzart put in a strong 487 to ice the Rockers win at 1878. Westside is up to 6-9, just a game behind the 7-8 Midland squad.

Verizon Field, Pacific: The Volcanoes end a three-game home stand with Ms. Kitty taking rest, while the Eagles start a three-game road trip with Blizzard on the bench. Goldy had a decent 327 for Everton at the start, giving her team a modest foundation. Starlight suffered a deflection that downed her at 108 for Pacific, wasting momentum from last week in the process. Puff III answered with 706 on the second attack for the Eagles, greatly extending their lead. Twinkie I answered with 453 for the Volcanoes, trying to keep them in the game despite a large deficit. Cleo countered with 552 for Everton, extending their lead with another good performance. Leonette belted 1026 for Pacific in response, covering the deficit by just two points as the final players come up to bat. Kirstin melted under pressure, taking a measly 33 for the Eagles to give them 1618 overall. Chicky Phil tacked on 433 for the Volcanoes at the end to give them the win at 2020. Pacific rises to 6-4, while Everton drops to 4-7.

Amazon Field, Golden: The Knights hope to stay in form with Jennifer on the bench for this visit to the Pilots, who have their captain Valencia on the bench. Kiwi had a solid 490 for Terrace City at the start, giving them a fairly stable opening attack. Dusty lacked pace on her rare opening turn opportunity, only able to gather 281 for Golden at the start of the game. Oreo continues to enjoy playing on the road, smashing 998 for the Knights to extend their lead with a potent second attack. Strut didn't have much of a response with only 212 for the Pilots, allowing the deficit to grow. Melissa tacked on 1047 for Terrace City, another big performance on the road from the middle of their lineup. Sparkles kept the contribution modest with 279 for Golden, clearly losing all hope for a comeback from the hosts. Quincy had only 129 for the Knights at the end, leaving their final score at 2664. A. Charlton fell with 105 for the Pilots, giving them the loss at 877. Terrace City rises to 5-7, while Golden drops to 11-6.

Coca-Cola Field, Boston: The Swifts end a three-game home stand while the Predators play their fifth of a six-game road trip. Americus rests for the visitors, while Sweetheart does the same for the hosts. Shawn had to play a backhand, and he knocked it into his wicket on the way back down, ending at just 36 for Midland. Patches answered with a firm 663 for Boston, giving the hosts a substantial first lead. Rainmane bobbled her way to 264 for the Predators, putting only a minor dent in the deficit. Puff II kept things mostly steady with 248 for the Swifts, maintaining their lead. Leonardo got too much of an early swing, ending at just 84 as Midland turns in another pitiful performance on offense. Gradley didn't have much pace for Boston on his turn, but he was steady with 641 to extend their lead greatly. Fuchsia collapsed with 33 for the Predators, leaving them at a deep loss with 417 against their Southeastern rivals. Ice Cream clobbered 979 for the Swifts on her turn, icing their win at a big 2531. Boston is 10-1 on the year, while Midland sinks to 7-9.

Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The Knights hope their road momentum will carry over at home, with Quincy sitting against the Swifts, who kept Ice Cream at home as she rests in the middle game of the tripleheader. Patches got knocked back by a deflection, falling with 252 for Boston at the start. Kiwi gave Terrace City the initial lead by a thin margin with her 384 on the opening turn. Puff II answered with 714 for the Swifts, pulling them ahead with a stronger second attack. Jennifer made an ill-advised double hit, ending with 153 for the Knights in the process as the hosts fall behind. Gradley slammed 1194 for Boston on his turn, putting them far ahead with the big performance. Oreo had a solid 351 for Terrace City, not helping their currently large deficit all that much. Sweetheart couldn't corral a high-arcing ball for the Swifts, falling at 190 to give them a final of 2350. Melissa hauled in 1203 for the Knights, the furious rally leaving them just short at 2091. Boston continues to be durable at 11-1, while Terrace City takes a tough loss to 5-8.

Coca-Cola Field, Boston: Back home, Patches will get the rest for the Swifts, while Potter's two games in pool yesterday put him on the bench for the Tridents today. Precious wasted no time in developing a lead for Pronger with 743 on the first attack. Puff II countered with 879 for Boston, giving them a slight lead after an impressive turn that featured a stretching save. Zach had a rough 78 for the Tridents, unable to cover that small deficit as the visitors are now in trouble. Gradley answered with 767 for the Swifts, establishing another towering lead for the runaway league leaders. Spot had a solid 488 for Pronger, but that won't do much to shrink the deficit as it currently stands. Sweetheart weakened the Boston lead on her own with a pitiful 16 points, setting up a closer than expected finish. Lize couldn't catch the Tridents up with 247, taking the loss at 1556. Ice Cream capped the perfect tripleheader with 617 for the Swifts, icing their win at 2279. Boston rises again to 12-1, while Pronger drops back to 4-6.

Apple Park, Todavía: The Stills are without Prism as she rests from pool yesterday, as does the Warriors' Noelle in this one-off trip to the coast. Twilight misplayed a deflected ball to end at a meager 90 for Central at the start of this game. Easter didn't take full advantage of her opponent's mistake, ending at 281 to give Todavía a modest lead after the first turn. Dustin countered with a massive 862 for the Warriors, giving them a much more fearsome second attack. Sierra crumbled at just 33 for the Stills, a rare misstep from the star that sees them fall far behind at the midway mark. Mario took an optional replay for a technical error, making a minor improvement to 177 for Central. Bells tried to go on a rally for Todavía, but she fell at 240, unable to cover the deficit. Wings swatted 639 more for the Warriors, a strong output to give them a final score of 1768. Anton didn't even come close with 96 for the Stills, leaving them at a pathetic 650 in the loss. Central is up to 3-6, while Todavía falls back to 8-9.

Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: A rivalry that has been bitter from the start is renewed right here. Puff III sits for the Eagles while the Knights have their captain Kiwi resting. Goldy had a pacey start, but a mishit ball left her at 208 for Everton in what amounts to a poor start. Jennifer took 260 for Terrace City, giving them a slight lead at the start of the game. Cleo turned things around for the Eagles, belting 1252 on the second attack to give the visitors a substantial lead. Oreo slipped up at 104 for the Knights, unable to make an appropriate response as the hosts fall far behind. Kirstin added another massive attack for Everton, padding their lead with her 948. Melissa had a solid 425 for Terrace City, but they appear set for the loss. Blizzard slipped up at 162 for the Eagles, but they end pretty comfortably at 2570. Quincy tried to rally with 546 for the Knights, a good effort but not enough to save them from the loss at 1335. Everton's first road win takes them to 5-7, while Terrace City drops to 5-9.

Coca-Cola Field, Boston: The Eagles complete a road doubleheader against the Swifts. The Eagles sit Goldy here, while Ice Cream is on the bench for the hosts. Puff III provided a strong start of her own with 594 for Everton, challenging the hosts immediately. Patches answered with 527 for Boston, keeping things close after the first turn. Cleo had a decent 329 for the Eagles, adding a little bit to their lead on the second attack. Puff II grabbed 256 in a mediocre response, as the Swifts lose a bit more ground at the halfway mark. Kirstin slipped up at 66 for Everton, a deflection responsible for her early exit. Gradley saved the day for Boston with 544, covering the deficit to give the hosts a lead with a player each to go. Blizzard didn't put up a fight with only 82 for the Eagles, leaving them far short at 1071. Sweetheart shut the door with 534 for the Swifts, keeping their balanced off successful at 1861 in the win. Boston rises once again to 13-1, while Everton drops back to 5-8.

Amazon Field, Golden: The Generations Derby rolls on, with the Pilots sitting A. Charlton against a Volcanoes team without Twinkie I in this game. Starlight had a decent 402 for Pacific in this one, giving them a stable start to the game. Valencia couldn't corral a floater for Golden, tipping it off her bat to end at 63 points in a weak opening turn. Ms. Kitty added another 385 for the Volcanoes, a solid performance to pad their lead. Dusty answered with a big 810 for the Pilots on her turn, giving the hosts a lead midway through the game. Leonette restored a lead for Pacific with her 455, keeping the visitors in the game. Strut answered with 583 for Golden, giving them a bit of a boost for their lead with the final players stepping up to bat. Chicky Phil hit 400 for the Volcanoes, their balanced attack ending at 1642, with the hosts needing to make a response. Sparkles countered with 431, sealing the Pilots win at 1887. Golden is up to 12-6, while Pacific takes a hit back to 6-5.

Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The Knights sit Oreo in the week 7 finale, while Lize takes a game off for rest after appearing in pool yesterday. Precious slapped 551 for Pronger at the start, going pacey at first before settling down in the second half of the turn. Kiwi answered with 532 for Terrace City, keeping things close after the opening turns. Zach took things over with 1389 for the Tridents on the second attack, the big performance giving his team a massive lead. Jennifer countered with 543 for the Knights, keeping their offense balanced but also barely fighting the deficit. Spot faltered with 161 for Pronger, weakening their lead a bit. Melissa dented the deficit slightly with 332 for Terrace City, but the hosts have a lot of work to do and little time to do it. Potter didn't do much else with 213 for the Tridents, far from securing their score at 2314. Quincy got beat by a deflection at 60 points for the Knights, leaving their loss at 1467. Pronger is up to 5-6 now, while Terrace City falls back to 5-10.

That's all for league cricket action in 2017. When we return on New Year's Day, the United Cup kicks off as Select and Elite teams battle among themselves for passage to round two.
