Elite Cricket 2018 - Week 6

We're back for the sixth week of games, beginning with...

Nike Field, Commerce: The Tradewinds are without captain Tigerette in this Urban Derby against the Nighthawks, who have their captain Peach on the bench as well. Cheddar served up 560 at the start for North Modernistic, giving them a solid base early in the game. Taylor had 295 for Commerce in response, setting the hosts a bit behind initially. Gal had only 153 for the Nighthawks, weakening their lead with a poor second attack. Lionel blasted 1224 in response for the Tradewinds, the big performance giving the hosts a large lead at the halfway mark. B. Chapman lacked pace and then got beat on a deflection a 9 points, leaving North Modernistic in a deep hole. Rosemary tacked on 650, furthering the Commerce lead with a hefty supporting attack. The Nighthawks fell hard as Luigi added only 114 to their score, which rests at 836. Niki was awarded a false start replay in a controversial call, and then chipped 448 to ice the Tradewinds win at 2617. Commerce rises to 5-5, while North Modernistic is level with them at 3-3.

Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: The Tradewinds complete the doubleheader on the road, resting Lionel, while the Sharpshooters sit Lorde for this outing. Tigerette had only 157 after a nasty deflection brought her turn to an abrupt end for Commerce. Chris patiently hit 460 for Capital City to gain the lead, and he was only stopped by an unfortunate deflection straight onto his wicket. Taylor wasted the comeback opportunity with only 33 for the Tradewinds, making things much worse for the visitors. Missy added a decent 348 for the Sharpshooters on her turn, growing their lead slightly. Rosemary dug in with 480 for Commerce, shrinking the deficit with the quick attack. Sprinkles fought most of that attack off with 418 for Capital City, maintaining their lead fairly well. Niki broke free with 752 for the Tradewinds, covering the deficit for a final score of 1422. Pauline played cautiously for the Sharpshooters, but sealed the deal with 318 to give them a win at 1544. Capital City is 10-3 on the year, while Commerce slips back to 5-6.

Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: Isabella sits another game out with the sophomore slump for the Pirates, while the Torpedoes have Shelley on the bench. Delila got split by a pair of offerings, ending her turn with an ugly 20 points for Atlantic. Smudge didn't break the game or anything, but her 290 provides Infinity a modest lead after the anticlimactic first turn. Steven pounded 743 for the Pirates on the second attack, giving them a nicer piece of offense. Fluffina lost control of her turn early on, taking a measly 21 as the Torpedoes fall behind. Klaus ripped 1028 for Atlantic, extending their lead to likely untouchable heights with the great appearance. Solaris didn't pull back in time to hit a quick offering, ending his turn with 353 as Infinity appears poised for a loss. Max tacked on 642 for the Pirates at the end, icing their likely victory at 2433. Mr. Snowman picked up 418 for the Torpedoes at the end, leaving them at a loss with 1082. Atlantic rises to 4-5 with the upset win over the now 4-3 Infinity team.

Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: The Torpedoes sit Fluffina as they end a five-game home stand, while Shiny gets rest for the Spiders on this trip to the southwest. Shadow couldn't quite solve a split offering for Web City, his backhand failing him at 201 on the opening turn. Smudge played a much more confident game this time, taking 551 against her father to put Infinity ahead early on. Ted had a decent 312 for the Spiders, but this wasn't enough to cover the deficit this time. Solaris countered with a supple 575 for the Torpedoes, doing well to extend their lead halfway through the game. Sugar got beat as a ball arced over her bat and cut her off at 280 for Web City. Shelley did well with 499 for Infinity, unable to connect on a backhand at the end of her supporting attack. Jack flopped at 20 for the Spiders in the end, leaving them with a pitiful losing score of 813. Mr. Snowman put an emphatic 769 up for the Torpedoes at the end, giving them the win at 2394. Infinity bounces back to 5-3, while Web City drops to 5-7 in the loss.

McDonald's Pitch at Pirates Park, Atlantic: The Pirates sit their captain Delila for this A-Line Derby game, while Sally gets a long-awaited rest for the Arrows. Ruby had a decent start with 336 for Archtown on the opening turn of the game. Isabella had a decent effort going for Atlantic, but a ball off the handle of her bat cut her down at 240, giving them a slight deficit. Sleepy B. added modestly with 203 for the Arrows, not exactly securing their lead by any means. Steven covered the deficit with 328 for the Pirates, but the game remains incredibly close at the halfway point. Dusky smacked 505 for Archtown this time, giving them a nice lead for once. Klaus fought it off with 752 for Atlantic, his big burst giving them the inside line with a player each to go. Wild Thing dug in with 608 for the Arrows, forcing a response from the hosts as the visitors close at 1652. Max closed out with 578 for the Pirates, lifting them to the win at 1898. Atlantic is up to 5-5 with the chaotic win, while Archtown drops to 4-8 with the loss.

IBM Nighthawks Nest, North Modernistic: Fluffina sits again as the Torpedoes try to build some chemistry without her, while B. Chapman's bad game earlier earns her a game off now. Smudge had one successful backhand in a pacey first turn for Infinity, but the second one stalled her at 912. Peach had a middling 259 for North Modernistic, giving them a deep deficit early in the game. Solaris added another 512 to the Torpedoes lead, propelling them further ahead with the good outing. Cheddar replied with 192 for the Nighthawks, weakening their position in the game midway through. Shelley didn't get much more with 175 for Infinity, keeping things quiet with this turn. Gal fell with 87 as the game takes an ugly turn for North Modernistic in particular but both sides generally. Mr. Snowman capped the Torpedoes offense with 391, putting their final score at 1990. Luigi had only 24 for the Nighthawks in the end, finishing their pitiful showing at 562. Infinity soars to 6-3, while North Modernistic has serious problems this week in falling to 3-4.

Google Pitch at Union Ground, Modernistic: The Union begin a four-game home stand against the Torpedoes, with Chimpy resting for the hosts while Mr. Snowman does the same for the visitors. Smudge had a solid 388 for Infinity on her second attempt after the first was wiped out by a technical error. Ms. Puppy couldn't corral a high bounce for Modernistic, which ended her turn at 198. Fluffina shot back with a stronger 566 for the Torpedoes, padding their lead with her good turn. Daisy shot back with 472 for the Union on her turn, trying to keep the deficit at a manageable level. Solaris covered that damage with his 480 for Infinity, keeping their lead stable with his offering. Puff I answered with 532 for Modernistic, maintaining the deficit late in the game. Shelley countered with 841 for the Torpedoes at the end, putting their final score at 2275. Kodiak had a solid counterattack with 595 for the Union, but they lost with 1797. Infinity gets the boost up to 7-3, while Modernistic slips back to 5-6.

Starbucks Cup, Archtown: The Nighthawks begin a road doubleheader against the Arrows, resting Luigi while the hosts sit Sleepy B. in this game. Peach had a vintage performance, crashing to 854 for North Modernistic in a throwback to her rookie year. Sally didn't have much pace, but her defense served her well, allowing her to rake in 480 to keep Archtown respectable early on. Cheddar answered with a big 722 for the Nighthawks, adding a substantial amount to their lead. Ruby smacked 664 back for the Arrows, keeping them in a high-scoring fight. Gal had 458 in response for North Modernistic, maintaining their lead pretty well. Dusky got beat on a brutal deflection at 66 for Archtown, making a comeback highly unlikely now. B. Chapman tried to bounce back from an earlier bad outing, but she spiked a ball into her wicket to end at 84, leaving the Nighthawks with a total of 2118. Wild Thing tried to make a rally but fell short at 450 for the Arrows, giving them a total of 1660. North Modernistic is back to even at 4-4, while Archtown slips to 4-9 with the loss.

Home Depot Forum, Web City: The Spiders are the second stop for the Nighthawks. Jack rests for the hosts while B. Chapman takes another seat for the visitors. Peach got a bit distracted for North Modernistic, falling at 232 in a less emphatic opener this time. Shadow popped 783 for Web City in response, giving them a significant lead early in the game. Cheddar also lost focus during her turn, but she had a decent 469 for the Nighthawks, keeping things close for now. Ted muscled up with 527 for the Spiders, extending their lead at the midway mark with his good second attack. Gal didn't let North Modernistic fade out yet, gathering 535 on a productive turn to keep things close. Sugar fought off that challenge with 610 for Web City, boosting their lead again ahead of the final players' turns. Luigi had a better 353 for the Nighthawks, but they took the loss regardless at 1589. Shiny tossed 479 for the Spiders at the end, icing their win at 2399. Web City's best game of the season takes them to 6-7, inching ahead of the 4-5 North Modernistic squad.

Ebay Center, Queens: The Flames begin a tripleheader with their captain Crystal resting, while the Arrows sit Dusky for this game after her rough outing last time. Sally stayed solid with 421 for Archtown to lead off this game in good form. Violetta had a technical error and then 302 on the replay for Queens in her first crack at a lead-off turn, which set the hosts slightly behind. Ruby saw her pace disintegrate late for the Arrows, but she still had 769 to pad their lead nicely. Briana crashed out at 152 for the Flames, causing the deficit to become quite large halfway through the game. Sleepy B. tacked on a solid 384 for Archtown, giving their lead a bit more bulk. Kyle couldn't keep control on his turn, falling with 110 for Queens as they appear set to take a hard loss. Wild Thing produced another 384 for the Arrows, capping their offense at 1958. Hannah fell at 81 for the Flames, giving them only 645 in an ugly loss. Archtown is up to 5-9 on the year now, while Queens sinks to 6-6 with the defeat.

IBM Nighthawks Nest, North Modernistic: The Flames will sit Hannah as they enter the middle game of the tripleheader, while the Nighthawks give Cheddar her first game off all season. Queens' scoring problems have followed them on the road, as Crystal had only 30 to begin this game. Peach got jammed near the hands, which threw off her rhythm and caused her to slip up at 226 for North Modernistic. Violetta served up 640 for the Flames on the second attack, putting them confidently ahead. Gal answered with 464 for the Nighthawks, a solid mark to keep the game close halfway through. Briana had a solid 426 for Queens to regain the lead by a decent margin. B. Chapman let North Modernistic get behind with only 112 on her turn, creating a late deficit they'll have to account for. Kyle took only 189 for the Flames, leaving them with a score of 1285, which is in reach for the hosts. Luigi failed to make the rally, falling at 182 as the Nighthawks lose with 984, their offensive struggles spiraling at this point. Queens is up to 7-6 with the win, while North Modernistic gets bumped back to 4-6.

Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: The Torpedoes have two in a row at home against the Flames, this one and one after the United Cup break. They sit Mr. Snowman, while the Flames bench Kyle to finish their tripleheader. Crystal had a decent attempt at the start, but it fell apart when she hit a ball too high, ending at 128 for Queens. Her best friend, Smudge, answered with 631 to put Infinity definitively ahead at the start. Violetta answered with 568 for the Flames, covering the deficit for now with her good showing. Fluffina countered with 390 for the Torpedoes, maintaining a smaller lead at the halfway point. Briana faltered at 160 for Queens, negating their momentum with the poor outing. Solaris slipped at 133 for Infinity, weakening their lead again with a player each to go. Hannah had 429 for the Flames, giving them a total of 1285 to force a response from the hosts. Shelley answered with 385, losing more ground but securing the Torpedoes win at 1539. Infinity is now 8-3 on the year, while Queens drops back to an even 7-7.

That's all for this week, with the Team of the Week to be named on Twitter @UnitedPCL in less than 10 minutes. Premier Week 6 kicks off tomorrow morning.
