Premier Cricket 2018 - Week 3

We're set for a brand new week of games, and we begin with a big one as...

Verizon Field, Pacific: The Volcanoes host the Warriors in the Sisterhood Derby. Mario sits for the Warriors, while Twinkie I gives way for the Volcanoes in their home opener. Twilight had a rough time for Central getting the game started, taking a meager 96 points. Starlight had only 112 for Pacific in a similarly poor start to the game. Dustin brought the scoring to a more respectable level with 626 for the Warriors, putting them more confidently ahead. Ms. Kitty kept the Volcanoes a touch better than their foes, striking 639 to give the hosts the midway point lead. Wings tried to place a hit after adjusting his swing, but he failed and fell at 234 as Central regains only a small lead. Leonette countered with 736 for Pacific, putting them firmly ahead before the final players' turns. Noelle couldn't complete a rally, ending at 296 as the Warriors lose with 1252. Chicky Phil capped the effort with 384 for the Volcanoes, icing their win at 1871. Pacific is 2-0, while their rivals in Central fall to 0-2 in a slow start to the year.

Chevrolet Field, Everton: The Gold Derby is a go, with the Cleo resting for the Eagles while Sparkles is on the bench for the Pilots. Valencia had a lot of urgency in her attack for Golden, and she made it count by scoring 704 to lead off the game. Goldy answered with 511 for Everton, trying to match the opposing captain until a deflection ended her turn abruptly. Dusty did just about everything well on her turn, belting 1206 with a backwards chip included before a swerving offering beat her, giving the Pilots a massive lead. Puff III could barely hang on, let alone catch up, her 305 damaging the Eagles' offense at the halfway point. Strut countered with 551 for Golden, doing even more to extend their lead. Kirstin made minor progress with 655 for Everton, but they remain far behind in this one. A. Charlton provided a solid finish with 567 for the Pilots, icing their presumptive win at 3028. Blizzard did alright with 447 for the Eagles, but they lost with a total of 1918. Golden is 4-3 on the year, while Everton drops to 2-3 after a high-scoring loss.

Verizon Field, Pacific: The Volcanoes find themselves in another rivalry, as the Generations Derby brings the Pilots to town. Charlton sits for the visitors, while Starlight rests for the hosts. Valencia continued her strong play this week with 603 for Golden at the start, giving them a nice advantage. Ms. Kitty offered a challenge with 439 for Pacific, keeping things close initially. Dusty broke the four-digit mark again, smashing 1129 for the Pilots this time to again build a big lead. Twinkie I tried to fight back with pure pace, falling at 250 for the Volcanoes as they slip far behind. Strut got beat on a deflection at 148 for Golden, weakening their lead a little bit. Leonette made up a nice chunk of the deficit with 585 for Pacific, but they need a whole lot more. Sparkles rallied with 650 more for the Pilots, bringing their final score to 2530. Chicky Phil fell at 124 for the Volcanoes, leaving them at a loss with 1398 total. Golden is surging this week at 5-3, while Pacific falls from the top down to 2-1.

Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: The Blades wrap up a two-game home stand with Jason N. on the bench, while the Warriors sit Wings at the end of their two-game road trip. Twilight snagged 407 for Central to start this game much better than the week's opener. Snowball tried and failed on a double-hit, the leading ball clipping the boundary to end Swordpoint's first turn at 24 points. Dustin added 424 for the Warriors, padding their lead with a firm second attack. Dreamy started with a great pace but quickly lost control to end with a measly 81. Mario kept Central consistent, batting 416 to cushion their lead once again. Bandit couldn't make much progress for Swordpoint, his 464 barely scraping at the deficit. Noelle didn't match her teammates, but her 359 puts them at a final of 1606 for the Warriors. Stealth tried to rally with 526 for the Blades, but they lost with 1095. Central is 1-2 on the year after this win, while Swordpoint falls to 3-2 in a rough day for top teams.

Chevrolet Field, Everton: The Eagles finish a two-game home stand with Puff III on the bench, while Shawn rests for the Predators due to fatigue. Rainmane had a bit of a delay on her swings, wrecking her pace before two deflections cut her off at 176 for Midland. Goldy slugged 1242 for Everton in response, giving them a definitive advantage right from the start of the game. Leonardo picked up a strong 579 for the Predators, but they will have to chase this game. Cleo answered with 791 for the Eagles, hardly letting the visitors think about getting back into the game. Americus countered with 603 for Midland, as they struggle to get a grip on any part of the game in the dim hope of a comeback. Kirstin did well to take 408 for Everton, a solid addition to their large lead. Fuchsia had only 122 for the Predators, giving them a losing total of 1480. Blizzard added 333 to ice the Eagles win at 2774 in a critical win. Everton is 3-3, while Midland sinks to 2-3.

Nestle's Warriors Park, Central: The Blades seek revenge in the back-half of a home-and-home with the Warriors this week. Mario sits for the Warriors, while Snowball rests for the Blades. The Knights finish a four-game road trip with Quincy on the bench, while Gradley rests for the Swifts for the first time. Kiwi put in a solid outing with 435 for Terrace City at the start, giving them a sturdy foundation. Patches smashed 1019 for Boston at the start, giving them the initial lead by a healthy margin. Jennifer answered with 486 for the Knights this time, keeping things close. Puff II doubled the Swifts offense in a triumphant return to form, blasting 1037 to reaffirm the hosts' lead. Oreo answered with 703, making a modest push back for Terrace City against a steep deficit. Sweetheart did her part well with another 1030 for Boston, continuing to extend the lead in four-digit chunks. Melissa fell with 232 in a challenging outing, leaving the Knights at 1856 in a tough loss. Ice Cream chipped in the lightest for the Swifts with 975, but they still have the first 4k effort in Premier history with 4061. This is the 17th 4k performance in league history. Boston rises to 5-1, while Terrace City is down to 1-4.

Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: The Blades sit Bandit for rest, while the Eagles start a three-game road trip by giving Goldy her first game off. Puff III picked a bad time for a bad game, taking a meager 60 points in a slow start for Everton. Cleo answered with 552 for the Eagles this time, covering the deficit with a quiet confidence. Kirstin tried to settle a ball on her backhand, but the next offering got by her quickly, leaving her with only 72 to endanger Everton's lead. Stealth crushed 1144 for Swordpoint, giving them a definitive lead late in the game. Blizzard couldn't lead the comeback for the Eagles, her 259 leaving them well short at 943 in another rough road game. Jason N. popped another 567 for the Blades at the end, giving them a final of 2282 in the win. Swordpoint rises to 5-2, while Everton sinks to 3-4.

Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint. The Blades play their next three games against the Predators, who are beginning their own road doubleheader. Rainmane and Dreamy sit out this game for rest. Shawn battled less than ideal conditions for Midland, still managing 531 to give the visitors a strong start. Snowball answered with 591 for Swordpoint, keeping the hosts' momentum from the last game. Leonardo covered the deficit lightly with 85 for the Predators in a rough outing. Bandit maintained a Blades lead, but with only 81 on his turn as the game takes a downward turn. Americus got beat on a deflection at 338 for Midland, restoring a moderate lead for the visitors. Apple Park, Todavía: The Stills are set to host the Predators as they close a road doubleheader and four-game road trip. Leonardo rests against his former team, while Prism sits for the Stills. Shawn got beat on a deflection at the start of his turn, taking only 160 this time for Midland. Easter put a bit too much on her final swing, prematurely exiting the game at just 99 points for Todavía. Rainmane had a mandatory replay for a technical error, and then barely improved to 139 for the Predators in this low-scoring duel. Sierra got things on a more acceptable scoring level with 400 for the Stills, giving them the midway point lead. Americus broke things even farther open, clubbing 846 for Midland to pull them ahead. Bells had some early issues with pace, but she stuck around to smack 631 for Todavía, setting up a close finish between the final players. Todavía is now at 3-5 with the tough win, while Midland drops to 2-5 to end the difficult road trip.

BMW RockDome, Westside: The Rockers' only game of the week comes against the Warriors. Noelle sits for the visitors, while Cowzart's on the bench for the Rockers. Twilight was only stopped when she got jammed near the hands with an offering, closing with 567 for Central in a good first turn. Misty fired back with 755 for Westside in a similar but stronger appearance. Dustin answered with 416 for the Warriors, covering the deficit on a solid turn. Goatee got knocked down at 115 on a deflection for the Rockers, putting them behind at the midway point. Mario couldn't turn on the jets for Central, a mediocre 225 padding their lead slightly. Slinks jumped at the chance to take the lead, slashing 566 for Westside as they move ahead again with a player each to go. Wings had 183 for the Warriors, wasting their hot start as they finish with 1391 in the loss. Midnight tacked on 724 for good measure at the end, putting the Rockers' winning score at 2160. Westside jumps to 2-2, while Central is pushed down to 1-4.

HP Field, Midland: The Predators seek revenge at home against the Blades in the second of three meetings over two weeks. Bandit and Fuchsia sit this game out. Snowball had a shaky 144 for Swordpoint at the start, leaving them in a tough position early on. Shawn countered with a middling 273 for Midland, putting them ahead by a small margin after the first turns. Dreamy attacked with vintage pace for the Blades, but a high swing chopped her down at 376 to minimize the advantage. Rainmane made a small gain with 414 for the Predators, adding slightly to the lead at the midway mark. Stealth continues to do best for Swordpoint, carving out 704 here to regain a stronger lead. Leonardo tried to float a double-hit ball but clipped it too high, ending his turn at 202 for a troubled Midland side. Jason N. had a measly 9 points for the Blades, leaving them vulnerable at 1233 with the opponents' top scorer left. Americus did enough with 431 to steal the win for the Predators at 1320. Midland is 3-5, while Swordpoint is frustrated to fall to 6-3.

That's all for Week 3. Standings update and Team of the Week soon to be posted to Twitter @UnitedPCL.
