2018 Qualifiers - Day 20

The new day of qualifying is here, with an expected 50 games on the slate. We begin with...

Terrace City Knights rookie Quincy shooting Rotation with the silver cue. Quincy was more lucky than good in this appearance, taking three errors and an empty break but also completing the game in 24 shots. Next up, the North Modernistic Nighthawks star Cheddar plays Rotation with the silver cue as well. Cheddar didn't have any of that luck, also going empty on the break but riding her game to 32 shots and four errors as the bounces went more against her. The Diamond Gems' Pedey goes third today, using the silver cue in 12-ball. Pedey looked pretty good in this appearance, taking a ball on the break and no errors during the game, which he finished in a strong 19 shots. After that, the Freedom Cascades captain Jasmine plays 10-ball with the blue cue. Jasmine couldn't get anything on the break and took an early error for a scratch, but made up for it from there, ending in 7 shots on a 4-8-5-10 kick combination to the top right for a stunning finish. Finishing the first group, the Golden Pilots' A. Charlton plays Rotation with the silver cue. Charlton did make a ball on the break, but tough shooting positions and some mistakes in shooting form led to three errors and 30 shots for the veteran.

The second group leads off with Lighton Prestige captain Acorn playing 12-ball with the blue cue. Acorn picked up a ball on the break, but also took one error for an early scratch. It didn't slow him down, his crafty style working well late as he finished in 18 shots despite some tough positioning. The seventh game of the day goes to Victoria Spurs newcomer Strawberry, who has the blue cue in hand for Rotation. Strawberry looked great in the early part of her appearance, with two balls on the break and a ton of successful shots, but regression hit her hard, and she finished with 27 shots and two errors. Continuing along, Capital City Sharpshooters veteran Missy plays 10-ball with the blue cue. Missy had a wonderful effort, making two balls on the break and then clearing the rack in 9 shots, a fantastic and error-free performance. Following that, the Eastside Sharks' Gizmo shoots Accuracy with the blue cue as the 12th player to finish qualifying. Gizmo didn't make a ball on the break, but he also took no errors in 19 shots for the game, finishing the entire session at 162 shots and 11 errors. At the back of the group, Victoria Spurs sophomore Wario plays 12-ball with the red cue. Wario had nothing on the break, and he had to do a bit of work to get things set up, taking one error in 21 shots by the time it was done.

Batch three starts with Tysini Hummingbirds star Leandra shooting 10-ball with the silver cue. Leandra took nothing from the break, and added an early error for illegal contact, but she closed the game in 17 shots on a late surge. Midland Predators star Rainmane is the next to shoot, using the red cue in Rotation. Rainmane couldn't get anything going at all for her game, needing 35 shots and three errors after an empty break to get through the difficult appearance. Trying to restore quality is Westside Rockers captain, who will also use the red cue in Rotation. Misty did just that with a brilliant turn, making a ball on the break and disrespecting the rules just enough with three errors to grease her game along in 19 shots. The 14th game today goes to Stonebridge Wolves veteran Frosty, who shoots 10-ball with the blue cue. Frosty didn't play so well, a poor break clogging up her shooting lanes. She would gather three errors and 23 shots to finish the appearance. Closing the group, the Spurs Strawberry takes her second game today in 15-ball with the red cue. Strawberry had an awful game, going empty on the break and chasing the 2 for far too long. She spent the middle of the game trying for a combination before giving up and clearing the table at 37 shots and five errors.

Group four gets going with Harrison Specters rookie Rudolph using the silver cue for 12-ball. Rudolph wasted a promising start, making a ball on the break but taking two errors for an illegally potted ball and missed contact before finishing the game in 22 shots. Moving along, Pronger Tridents sophomore Spot plays Rotation with the red cue. Spot had a ball on the break, and shot well early on, but also picked up five errors, four from intentionally illegal plays, before he closed the outing in 25 shots. Oceanside Waves captain Snuggle goes next in 8-ball with the silver cue. Snuggle made a ball and also scratched on the break, but that wouldn't hold him back near the end of the game, as he cruised through the end to finish at 18 shots. Up next, Tysini Hummingbirds captain Princess is the 13th to finish qualifying as she plays Accuracy with the silver cue. Princess missed a lot of shots, went empty on the break, and scratched for two errors and 23 shots in the game, putting her totals at 168 shots and 10 errors in qualifying. The 20th game of the day belongs to Everton Eagles star Puff III, as she shoots 8-ball with the red cue. Puff III was denied on the break, but started well in shooting, only stumbling late in the game with one error for illegal contact and ending at 22 shots after some misses.

The fifth group opens as Jack of the Web City Spiders plays 15-ball with the silver cue. Jack just went empty on the break, and struggled with three errors early on, but settled in from there and finished in 27 shots for a good game. Infinity Torpedoes captain Smudge is next with the red cue in Rotation. Smudge showed fearlessness after making a couple of balls on the break, readily taking three errors to help advance her game, which ended in 22 shots after her hot finish. After that, the North Modernistic Nighthawks' B. Chapman plays 12-ball with the blue cue. Chapman had a scratch on the break, and made sure that was her only error as she finished the game in a cool 20 shots. The 24th player called today is Southridge Defenders captain Debby Ryan, who will use the blue cue for 10-ball. Debby had the makings of a great game with two balls on the break, and while she did have an early error too, it was a chase on the 10 that inflated her score to 16 shots in the end. Wrapping up the group, Harrison Specters star Sydney Sierota plays Rotation with the silver cue. Sydney had a couple of errors in her game after an empty break, but she had spurts of strong play that helped her finish in 28 shots.

Group six starts with Stonebridge Wolves captain Juno playing 9-ball with the silver cue. Juno had nothing on the break and was far from clinical in shooting short-range combinations, but she ended on 7-9 combination to the top right to close the game in 12 shots. The Freedom Cascades newcomer Stripes goes next with the red cue for 9-ball. Stripes made a ball on the break, an excellent shot that set her up well. She would add one error, but still finished in 12 shots for a good outing. The 28th player drawn to shoot today is Oceanside Waves sophomore Dewey, who plays 12-ball with the red cue. Dewey made a ball on the break, and while he had some interesting choices for positioning, he closed the appearance in 20 shots with no errors, a good score. Moving along, Pronger Tridents captain Precious shoots 15-ball with the blue cue. Precious had a ball on the break out of luck, and she wouldn't have much of that as she took seven errors in 35 shots to complete the game. Rounding out the group, Terrace City Knights rookie Melissa Benoist shoots Rotation with the red cue. Melissa skipped the ball on the break, and took only three errors in a relatively clean performance with 28 shots in the end.

Bunch seven sees the Everton Eagles' Cleo finishing qualifying 14th with her Accuracy game using the blue cue. Cleo may win the top award in qualifying after finishing her game with no errors and 18 shots, giving her totals of 112 shots and 6 errors. The 32nd player of the day is the Pacific Volcanoes' Leonette, who plays Rotation with the blue cue this time. Leonette had plenty of promise despite an empty break, struggling from the 11 onward as she ended in 34 shots with four errors. Southridge Defenders newcomer Caitlin Woode will try to correct course as she plays 10-ball with the silver cue. Caitlin made a ball on the break, and while she had one early error, she completed the game quickly with 16 shots at the end. Continuing along, Harrison Specters captain Twinkie II plays Accuracy with the blue cue, the 15th player to finish qualifying. Twinkie II had a disastrous game, with nothing on the break and three errors for scratches to run her shots to 24. She finished qualifying with 172 shots and 15 errors. Golden Pilots legend Dusty ends the group with 12-ball and the silver cue. Dusty's had better games, going empty on the break and taking one error this time, but also finishing in 19 shots for a good score.

The eighth group is headed by TodavĂa Stills star Sierra, who plays 10-ball with the blue cue. Sierra didn't make a ball on the break but otherwise looked excellent, clearing the table in only 15 shots without an error, rarely taking more than two shots on any ball. Victoria Spurs rookie Sage gets the 37th game today, using the blue cue in 12-ball. Sage had nothing good in her game after a ball on the break, taking three errors and finding herself out of position for the last four balls. It took 32 shots to finally complete the outing. The Whitewater Shores rising star Marsell is tasked to fix the confidence, playing 9-ball with the red cue. Marsell took nothing on the break, but also avoided errors over his 13 shots to complete the game in good time. Following that, Boston Swifts mainstay Sweetheart shoots 12-ball with the red cue. Sweetheart couldn't get anything on the break, and she botched a handful of early shots, taking one error and 25 shots for the game. Atlantic Pirates newcomer Max wraps up the group, using the blue cue in Rotation. Max did alright, going empty on the break and taking three errors among his 29 shots, much better than the first bit of the game would indicate.

Group nine is fronted by Web City Spiders veteran Sugar, who shoots 10-ball with the silver cue. Sugar hauled in the game in 17 shots, taking a ball on the break but also scratching twice for her two errors that weighed the score down a bit. Next up, Queens Flames sophomore Violetta shoots Rotation with the blue cue. Violetta didn't make anything on the break, and she added three errors in a difficult start, but finished in 27 shots, hitting her stride right about the 7. The 43rd game today is 15-ball with the red cue by Southern Monarchs captain Panda. It didn't go so well, as he had an empty break and rough middle of the game before three late errors pushed his score to 30 shots. Moving along, Pacific Volcanoes veteran Chicky Phil shoots Rotation with the silver cue. Chicky Phil did get a ball on the break, and he had some lucky bounces, finishing in 24 shots despite his four errors, only two from intentional situations. The Predators' Rainmane rounds out the group with her second game today, using the silver cue in 15-ball and hoping for better results. Rainmane took advantage of the situation on her turn, with all of her eight errors after a successful break being intentional. This allowed her to complete the outing in 25 shots, a highly positive result.

The final group is led by Diamond Gems star Citrus, who plays 15-ball with the red cue. Citrus had a ball on the break, and didn't need to blatantly err at first, but later in the game, she turned devious, ending with seven errors and 30 shots after a disaster on the last five balls. Up next, the Knights' Melissa Benoist is back for her second game today, shooting 15-ball with the blue cue. Melissa looked pretty good in this one, pulling in a ball on the break and waiting until deep in the game to err, although she did have three with two being intentional before finishing the game at 25 shots. Continuing along, Southridge Defenders sophomore Bianca plays Accuracy with the blue cue, the 16th player done with qualifying. Bianca made a great finish to her qualifying, with nothing on the break and no errors in 16 shots, a thirteen-ball run highlighting the effort. She ends with 147 shots and 9 errors overall. The 49th game of the day is Pearl Surfers' newcomer Bright using the blue cue in Rotation. Bright had an empty break, and had to turn to errors to get through the early part of the game, taking four in total among his 28 shots. Finally, the Archtown Arrows newcomer Wild Thing shoots Rotation with the red cue. Wild Thing had nothing on the break, but did well with mostly clean play, taking only two errors in 27 shots for a good outing.

That's all for today. Expect the rest of Select Week 5 and 40 more qualifiers tomorrow.
